One of the best thrillers I have seen in recent years. Along with "Red Eye" I think it was a sleeper that came to life because of some great story writing and better than expected acting and directing. Most of the cast wasn't that well known outside Kim Bassinger. This one draws me back to it from time to time so I assure you it has great replayability. I too thought it might be a B, but when my mom and sister asked me if I had seen it I knew I should. I borrowed my moms copy and after one viewing I went out and bought a copy myself. It has a newness and familiarity about it. New storyline but it almost has a Hitchcock style to it. And believe me I say that as a complement. This is the story of a young man that only thinks of himself until a lady in distress calls him on his cell phone. He gradually becomes more and more concerned with her and her family to the point he will risk his life for them. Don't miss it, it's an excellent thriller.

When Cellular first hit the theatres, it had all the marks of a B film, unknown male lead, fledging female Oscar winner, and talented odd-ball William H. Macy. However, when you watch this film, you realize that it doesn't deserve it's B class status. This is a really good action-suspense story with a viable and nearly realistic storyline. It doesn't even loses it entertainment value when you watch a second time. I do like that Kim Basinger isn't a helpless damsel in distress. She is an active participant in her and her family's rescue. Overall: This movie is worth your time.

Kim Basinger isn't known for her acting chops, but she does a decent (for her) job in this movie. What amazed me was that Chris Evans was just as hammy and over-acted just like he did in Not Another Teen Movie. Did someone tell him this was supposed to be a comedy? His facial expressions were over the top, and he acted like such a drama queen.

I watched the movie on TV, and thought it was a wise decision not to have bought the DVD. This is a B-grade movie with a few twists here and there to make it appear like an A-grade thriller.
Premise: a whole bunch of crooked cops are captured on video committing murder, and they kidnap the family of the guy who caught them on tape. One lonesome guy on a cellphone outwits the gang of cops.
I could understand if the movie was made in the early 90's when cell phones were starting to become a part of daily life, but in 2004??...the director must've lost his marbles!
Verdict: absolutely un-*&$king-believable!

This is a fast paced movie from beginning to end. I think the only flaw was with the villains. I didn't find them "believable." So, either they were bad actors or badly directed. In contrast, Kim Basinger, William H. Macy, and Chris Evans were superb in their roles.
This was my first experience seeing Chris Evans in anything; that is, anything memorable for me to remember the actor. His athleticism, good looks, acting ability, and sense of humor were of five star caliber.
I felt that this was an excellent vehicle to show Kim Basinger's acting abilities beyond her roles in such popular movies as: "Batman," a James Bond thriller, and "9 and a 1/2 Weeks," etc. "Cellular" asked her to dig deep down inside herself, bringing out the true meaning of the word Actress. She was most believable.
William H. Macy once again proved there is no end to his talents. It was good to see him play a 'good guy,' unlike that which he played in "Fargo." He was excellent in his role as a radio announcer in "Seabiscuit." This time he needed to be more athletic as a cop. He did well at that, and left me with a feeling of comfort knowing he was on the job.

On The Inside, Looking Out.......2006-08-14
This video was a gift to myself as one of the stars is William Macy who turns out to be the hero of this tragic corruption and abuse by some cops of the LAPD, and he played low-key in this one but was the most effective. Handsome Chris Evans looked like the young Tom Cruise without his big nose. He carried the movie from beginning to conclusion. Kim Basinger was perfect as the wife who is abducted by some thugs from her lovely California home in Brentwood (looked like O. J.'s) by some cruel, nasty roughneck cops. Then the action moves to the arcade park at the Santa Monica Pier with a typical California scene so we meet Chris and his buddies.
We see the LAX terminal which is so huge and beautiful on the interior. That's where the husband is trying to flee for his life because the cops are really after him. Not for a crime he did but for what he witnessed and videotaped. First, though we watch Chris maneuver down the freeway where he receives a call on his cell phone from the frantic woman who has been kidnapped. She talks him into going to her son's school to save him from her fate, as the meanies have her vehicle and he will automatically get in without thinking. Too late, so Chris borrows the security car and does some fancy driving, causing a large smashup of multiple vehicles and bounces through construction in progress to get to the Cellular store for a new battery. He has to use the guard's gun to obtain the much-needed battery but he pays for it. Thus, he's no criminal yet. He'd been told to 'take a number' which pissed him off, and all of the customers and clerks were extremely rude.
He asks for police intervention and Macy goes to the Brentwood home; the woman pushing a baby stroller didn't even wave, just hesitated and walked on. The people out there are unfriendly, with no one wanting to get involved. Chasing the vehicle with the child, all the time trying to talk with the terrorized woman on his phone, the loud noise on car radios of those who are showing off their controvertibles hinders his assistance to his long-distance friend. He purloined the $80,000 Porche with the top down of a cutsie lawyer and told him to "give me your phone or I will shoot the car." There were a few laughs in this fast-paced tension film.
At the airport, as he is running for his life, he lost his phone and she is desperate. In the meantime, she goes ballistic and is able to escape and use her vehicle to rescue the son who is locked in a ratty garage. By that time, the bad cops have made the coup of grabbing her husband at LAX and forces him to take his digital camera out of his bank lock box. He had witnessed the murder of two drug dealers by these arresting police who robbed and killed them and had it on tape -- this police brutality.
The good cop went back to the Brentwood house where he gets shot in the arm. He trusted his superior (wrong move -- as he had been involved in the drug heist) but his 27 years of training finally paid off and saved his life when the top guy's loud ringtone on his cell phone alerted him, there on the pier. He too was trusting the wrong people at first. Chris was asked, "How did you get involved?" His reply: "I just answered my phone." The conclusion was perfect since she is a married mother, who asked how she could repay him. "Don't ever call me again," made the movie worthwhile.

I was blessed to have met Inga, the instructor depicted on the DVD, and spent several mornings receiving yoga and meditation instruction from her. Her tremendous passion for Yoga was immediately evident.
This DVD is great for absolute beginners to Yoga (like I was) and for people who crave sanity in their lives by slowing it down. If you get in the regular habit of following along to the DVD every morning, I can assure you that you will become addicted to the positive effects that Yoga can have on your life, your mood, your health, and your relationships.
Inga does a 30-minute instruction on the DVD that addresses every part of the body. She also explains each move and position as she does them. There is a second, much shorter track that focuses solely on proper breathing technique.
The only reason why I did not give this DVD 5 stars is due to the clunkiness of the menu. However, the DVD's minor lack of production polish does not detract from the main attraction, Inga's 30-minute Yoga workout.
This DVD has helped me to change my whole outlook on life and if you use it regularly, it might help change yours as well.

I could understand if the movie was made in the early 90's when cell phones were starting to become a part of daily life, but in 2004??...the director must've lost his marbles!
Verdict: absolutely un-*&$king-believable!

This is a fast paced movie from beginning to end. I think the only flaw was with the villains. I didn't find them "believable." So, either they were bad actors or badly directed. In contrast, Kim Basinger, William H. Macy, and Chris Evans were superb in their roles.
This was my first experience seeing Chris Evans in anything; that is, anything memorable for me to remember the actor. His athleticism, good looks, acting ability, and sense of humor were of five star caliber.
I felt that this was an excellent vehicle to show Kim Basinger's acting abilities beyond her roles in such popular movies as: "Batman," a James Bond thriller, and "9 and a 1/2 Weeks," etc. "Cellular" asked her to dig deep down inside herself, bringing out the true meaning of the word Actress. She was most believable.
William H. Macy once again proved there is no end to his talents. It was good to see him play a 'good guy,' unlike that which he played in "Fargo." He was excellent in his role as a radio announcer in "Seabiscuit." This time he needed to be more athletic as a cop. He did well at that, and left me with a feeling of comfort knowing he was on the job.
