Shaolin White Crane Hard Qigong strengthens muscles, tendons, and ligaments and develops the strength and flexibility of the torso and spine. Hard Qigong also helps to build a strong root, improves your stability, and increases your muscular endurance. In addition to strength and power, Hard Qigong training builds up Qi in the limbs, which then flows to the internal organs, nourishing them with Qi and improving your vitality.

White Crane, not only a beautiful bird, but a beautiful DVD........2004-05-17
Do not get me wrong, as White Crane techniques have been adapted into nearly every martial art, this DVD is priceless regardless of style (or lack there of.) This DVD is much more strenuous than some may believe too. Even in Soft Qigong, it is easy to break a sweat (if done properly.)
Dr. Yang's "Shaolin White Crane" book compliments this video. While the book is not required, it is highly recommended. It goes over the spiritual aspects, history, and breathing, while the video does not. In my opinion, the book may be more important than the physical training itself.
If you want to build a properly strong foundation for TRUE Shaolin Gong Fu (Kung Fu) studies as I am doing, this DVD is second to none. For you see, Dr. Yang is a White Crane (among other arts) student of two TRUE Shaolin masters (you will have to buy the book to see whom.)
This is a DVD I will be using ten - twenty - thirty years down the road with my White Crane studies. At YMAA.COM (Yang's Martial Arts Association) site, there are near countless other videos, books, compact discs, art, uniforms, etc. Included in these are White Crane Basic training 1 & 2 (2 tapes, or one DVD.) Moreover, Basic training 3 & 4 are due out in a month or two. Currently there are Kung Fu Fundamentals, Ti Chi, Chi Na, and much more, take time to visit www.ymaa.com, you will not be disappointed.
In addition, there is NO affiliation with YMAA and myself. I simply have much passion and respect for such true quality video training, A RARITY now a day.
I digress though; this DVD is broken down into Soft, Hard, and extras (ymaa video clips for others videos.) Within Soft and Hard are subdirectories that allow simple navigation to any point of study. I find the best feature is how there is nearly no talking, just soft Chinese music that escorts the current movement or exercise. Actual training is VERY easy to understand and follow, but to replicate the flowing movements of Dr. Yang, well that is up to hard work and time.
Yet that is what martial training is:
time, dedication, development, and enlightenment.
Peaceful Years.
Ivory Crane.
