This epic Lucasfilm fantasy serves up enough magical adventure to satisfy fans of the genre, though it treads familiar territory. With abundant parallels to Star Wars, the story (by George Lucas) follows the exploits of the little farmer Willow (Warwick Davis), an aspiring sorcerer appointed to deliver an infant princess from the evil queen (Jean Marsh) to whom the child is a crucial threat. Val Kilmer plays the warrior who joins Willow's campaign with the evil queen's daughter (Joanne Whalley, who later married Kilmer). Impressive production values, stunning locations (in England, Wales, and New Zealand) and dazzling special effects energize the routine fantasy plot, which alternates between rousing action and cute sentiment while failing to engage the viewer's emotions. A parental warning is appropriate: director Ron Howard has a light touch aimed at younger viewers, but doesn't shy away from grisly swordplay and at least one monster (a wicked two-headed dragon) that could induce nightmares. --Jeff Shannon
Description
From legendary filmmakers George Lucas and Ron Howard comes one of the most beloved fantasy tales of all time. This groundbreaking film features stunning special effects, dazzling action and a classic battle between good and evil.

According to an ancient prophecy, the sacred child is destined to end the reign of the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh). Customer Reviews:
The most midgets you will ever see in one movie!.......2007-08-24
I recently bought this and watched it. All I can say is "Wow". I remember watching this movie over and over as a child and now I know why. It's a great movie!
Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer do a great job and wow, Sorcia (Joanne Whalley) is smoking hot. There are a ton of great scenes, too many to count. It's a ridiculous but extremely entertaining movie. And it's something you can watch if you have kids
The only time I can recall seeing more midgets is on the TV show "Martin" where the midgets started a fight with Martin Lawrence at the bar. If you haven't seen this movie yet, add it to your shopping cart!
One of my faves.......2007-08-22
This movie just doesn't get old. I can watch it anytime and still feel wowed by it. I am not particularly fond of 80's films, but this one is not cheesy or poorly acted. It is actually very sweet with a pretty cool plot and awesome characters. I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fun adventurous family movie to watch.
willow.......2007-08-02
this is great movie ever! this story focus on the baby named willow and 2 men who is protecting the baby. some evil want the baby dead because the baby is a threat to evil woman. evil woman has a daughter who will turn against her and save the baby.
A Timeless Classic!.......2007-07-07
If you grew up in the 80s and didn't see this movie, then where the heck were you?? This is a must see movie and falls into the category of a timeless, well loved classic that never expires. We never tire from watching "Willow". Infact, we named one of our daughters "Alora" after Ellora Dannon. "Willow" is a true family film, filled with adventure, action, humor, romance and magic! It's got everything in it and will bring out the child in everyone. And if you're an 80s Junkie like me (or not), it will probably already be in your DVD library (or pretty soon may well be) that you can pull out again and again to enjoy. You won't regret investing in this wonderful spell of entertainment.
Fantasy - Supreme.......2007-07-06
This movie was well done, a very good and rich fantasy story and something for the whole family. A fairy tale colorful told.

As Rumiko Takahashi's "Feudal Fairy Tale" continues, the main storyline about recapturing the fragments of the Shikkon Jewel recedes and shorter adventures come to the fore. At the end of season 3, Inu-Yasha destroyed the magical barrier protecting his enemy Naraku: the evil demon fled, leaving no trail. Naraku's absence allows dozens of minor demons to emerge from hiding and cause problems that Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Inu-Yasha must undo. An eccentric exorcist tangles with Miroku and the imprisoned spirit of a lovely princess; the demon Orchidayu creates fake Shikkon Jewels in an effort to strengthen his servants. Some of the adventures take a comic turn. When Kagome's younger brother develops his first crush on a classmate, he asks Inu-Yasha's advice about how to approach the girl. (Asking the terminally insensitive Inu-Yasha for romantic advice is about as sensible as asking a vegetarian how to cook a pot roast.) A shape-shifting raccoon spirit impersonates Miroku so accurately, he gets the lecherous monk in trouble with the women of two villages. By this point, the characters in Inu-Yasha have become so familiar, their antics feel entertaining even when they don't really advance the plot. Although this package is labelled Fourth Season Box Set, the opening animation and song change after episode 95, suggesting there's some overlap. The Deluxe Edition (ASIN# ) includes a model of Miroku's prayer beads (a Buddhist rosary) in aqua plastic. (Rated Teen: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon

Customer Reviews:
Its not all that great to me........2007-09-08
I'm not too pleased with this season at all for several glaring reasons. First the amount of episodes. Only 18 episodes for about 70 bucks?! This spits in the face of the fans as far as I'm concerned. The first 3 seasons had at least 25 episodes each. So this is ridiculous. My other gripes is this. All of these kind of felt like throw away episodes. There wasn't one interesting new character hero or villian. Most of the stories weren't very great either. I'll admit some of the romantic episodes were a bit catching. And it did maintain its level of comedy. But what happened to the greatness that blanketed the last 3 seasons? Where was that seriousness?
This season is so formulaic that it begun to drive me mad. Naraku has vanished and every single demon decides to run amok and terrorize villages. It would be cool once in awhile. But this takes place in just about every episode. And they constantly point out the fact that, the demons are revealing themselves because of Naraku's disappearance. If its not that then it was some type of love situation. At least you get another background story on Naraku as Omigumo. Fans of Sesshomaru. You will be disappointed. You won't see too much of him. But you do get a bit of Koga sweating Kagome.
Since I'm a fan of this series, it was a must that I get it. But I'm very disappointed overall. It felt more like a gigantic teaser for the next season. Being that for episode 96 it introduced a new opening featuring new characters. I'll just wait for season 5 to be impressed. I don't buy the volumes. This set contains eps. 82-99 on 4 disk. If you plan on buying this from your local store, don't trash your receipt. I had to take back 2 copies because the first disk was freezing badly. I just want to give a heads up on that.
ALWAYS 5 STARS !!!!!.......2007-08-18
INUYASHA IS ALWAYS 5 STARS !!!!! TO MAKE IT SIMPLE, JUST ANOTHER OUTSTANDING SEASON OF A TRULY GREAT SHOW. THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND STORY LINES ARE EXCELLENT. INUYASHA IS JUST A PLEASURE TO WATCH. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS SHOW. IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SHOW START FROM THE FIRST EPISODE AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. YOU WILL BECOME A FAN OF THIS SHOW RIGHT AWAY.

Based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura, the Inu-Yasha TV series (2000) blends elements of Japanese folklore and familiar anime devices into a deftly imaginative blend of humor and adventure, an extremely entertaining series that never falls into cliché. Beginning the first season's 27 episodes, Kagome Higurashi, a normal 15-year-old girl, falls down a dry well--and finds herself in the feudal past, 50 years after her ancestress Kikyo imprisoned the half-human/half-demon Inu-Yasha. As the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome possesses a magic jewel that greatly increases the power of demons. Kagome fetters Inu-Yasha with the help of her priestess-ancestor Kaede, and when the jewel is shattered Kagome and Inu-Yasha must ally to recapture the fragments.
The series really begins to hit its stride when Kagome and Inu-Yasha, while bickering, nevertheless prove an effective team against the demons they encounter in the Warring States netherworld. Two new characters create complications. Shippo, an orphan fox spirit, meets Kagome and Inu-Yasha in the Warring States period. A more conventional but potentially more dangerous addition is Hojo, a handsome upper classman at Kagome's school, who's concerned about her recent absences. His understated good manners contrast sharply with the prickly Inu-Yasha--just as Kagome is beginning to recognize his good points.
In the multi-part adventure that begins with "Kikyo's Stolen Ashes," the filmmakers presenting conflicting versions of the relationship between Kikyo and Inu-Yasha, and the intriguing plot twists typify Takahashi's sophisticated story-telling. The tone darkens as the back story emerges: 50 years earlier, Kikyo tended Onigumo, a badly burned thief. As his desire for the Sacred Jewel--and Kikyo--grew, Onigumo summoned a horde of demons, whom he allowed to consume his flesh and soul. The evil creatures fused to form the terrible Naraku. Recognizing his feelings for Kagome, Inu-Yasha tries to protect her from Naraku by sending her back to her own time and blocking the passage between the ages. Inu-Yasha, Kagome, Shippo, and Miroku face a bizarre array of monsters and villains, including a forest demon who vomits hordes of monstrous, three-eyed wolves.
As the tapestry grows richer, Kagome and Myoga begin to explore the origins and nature of the Sacred Jewel that radiates power yet brings misfortune to everyone who approaches it. The source of the jewel turns out to be the demon-slayers' village. Inu-Yasha, Kagome, and their friends learn how the Jewel was created long ago in a battle between hordes of monstrous demons and Midoriko, the greatest priestess of the age. But the Jewel is also a miniature battleground between good and evil: a metaphor for the world--and for Inu-Yasha's heart, as he vacillates between selfishness and kindness. (Rated 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity) --Charles Solomon

Kagome Higurashi, an average ninth grader, gets pulled into an ancient well by a demon, bringing her 500 years in the past to feudal Japan. There, she meets InuYasha, a half-demon who seeks the Shikon Jewel to make himself a full-fledged demon. With InuYasha and her new friends that they meet along the way, Kagome's search for the Jewel of Four Souls begins...

Inuyasha - Season 1.......2007-08-29
Great DVD collection, has both Japaneese and English languages. And the DVD holder is and awsome fold out with great artwork
It's been a long time............2007-07-25
Since I've seen the show, about 3 years, but I'm hooked STILL. I am an adult married with children and I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy anime. It's interesting and entertaining! I was told that the set is too expensive just for anime and I started to just buy everything seperate, but it doesn't make sense when you're going to buy all seasons when you can buy them in sets. I put my sister on to it. Now she's hooked.
You have to watch InuYasha.......2007-07-24
I am an adult, not usually fond of television or movies, yet I absolutely love InuYasha. I had the tv on cartoon network one night, and just started watching an episode, and got addicted. The story is very sweet, yet there is a lot of adventure and fantasy, with beautiful artwork. If you are thinking about starting to watch this series, or buying it for someone else, I would say "go for it!" I don't know how you could help but love it. It is much cheaper to buy the whole season than the dvds with just a few episodes, and once you start you won't be able to stop watching, so you might as well get the boxed set. The movies (there are four) are also excellent.
yeah.......2007-07-08
you need to own if you are sick of the one epasoide an day thig
Definitely over done and rated.......2007-05-11
To be honest, I liked it at first. I did. I thought it was cute; definitely not at all deep, but something that was fun to watch when you have nothing else to do.
The characters aren't awful (for the most part). In fact, it can be fun to watch the interactions between a lot of the characters. However, after the first season, you pretty much know all there is to know about them. After those first episodes you know exactly how each character will respond to absolutely everything, and these characters do not change at all beyond that point.
In fact, after the first season, everything kind of repeats itself. The same things happen OVER and OVER, the only difference being the bad guy's face and name; although, even they're the same sometimes. It's repetitive in a way that I guarantee you've never seen before.
I watched all but maybe 5 episodes, so I'm not one of those reviewers who only watched a couple episodes then decided I hated it. So finally, years years after it started, I heard they were FINALLY releasing the last episode -- that is, episode 167. I decided I would watch it; I kept thinking that, with all those episodes, the finale had to be something worthwhile. Don't even get me started on the ending. There was no conclusion, there no end and no answers. I laughed with frustration on the finale.
Seriously, if you watch Inuyasha, only watch the first season and MAYBE the last episode; it's no different from all the others. You can watch the first season then skip ahead to episode 167 and the story will NOT HAVE CHANGED at ALL, so you'll have no problem picking it up. It should have ended at about 26 episodes and there should have been an ending. Any anime that lasts forever won't stand; the most memorable animes, to me, are the short ones like Evangelion and FLCL. If it had only been short, its faults would have been much more forgivable.

Hearts and swords are the focus of the second season of Inu-Yasha, Rumiko Takahashi's popular "feudal fairy tale." Inu-Yasha's icily elegant half-brother Sesshomaru discovers that the sword their demon father left him, the Tenseiga, is useless to him in battle. It doesn't kill, but heals--an imaginative twist typical of Takahashi. Inu-Yasha has to learn to master his sword, the Tetsusaiga, that was forged from his father's fang. When the monster Goshinki bites the Tetsusaiga in two, the addled smith Totosai reforges it, using a fang of Inu-Yasha's to join the shards. Inu-Yasha must learn to wield the newly heavy sword that reflects his increased responsibility: his father is no longer protecting him, so he must use his own strength.
Inu-Yasha also faces two powerful internal struggles. He begins to question his desire to become a full demon after he transforms into a mindless killing machine. The Tetsusaiga keeps his demon-blood in check, and Inu-Yasha is grateful for its strength. But he has no exterior support in the battle within his heart: Does he love the resurrected Kikyo, whom he adored 50 years earlier, or Kagome, who has shared so many adventures and who loves him? These struggles demand more than the battles with the evil Naraku and his avatars.
The adventures, emotional crises, and ferocious battles are balanced against the friendship and slapstick comedy Kagome, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo provide. Through it all, Inu-Yasha remains the impulsive hot-head viewers love--whom only Kagome can keep in check. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity)
Fans of this popular series will also want to see The Art of Inu-Yasha by Rumiko Takahashi, which features original artwork, notes on minor characters, a glossary, and interviews with the principal Japanese voice actors, director Masashi Ikeda, character designer Yoshihito Hishinuma, and art direrctor Shigemi Ikeda.Takahashi also discusses the differences in the manga and the animated versions of two key sequences. --Charles Solomon

As Rumiko Takahashi's "Feudal Fairy Tale" Inu-Yasha reaches its midpoint, the characters examine where their loyalties lie. When an elegant lord proposes to Sango, Miroku, the itinerant monk with the roving hands, must weigh his affection for her. Because he's the youngest member of the team, the other characters treat fox-spirit Shippo like a child; he begins to show signs of maturity, working to become a contributor to the battle against Naraku. Tsubaki, the Dark Priestess who fought Kikyo for possession of the Shikon Jewel 50 years earlier, uses sorcery to take possession of Kagome--and tries to force her to attack Inu-Yasha. Kagome's love for the half-demon makes the teenage heroine more difficult to control than the youth-obsessed Tsubaki anticipated. But two darker relationships provide the key to these adventures. Wind Sorceress Kagura wants to escape from Naraku's domination; she schemes against her demon-lord and covertly aids his enemies. The bitter rivalry between Inu-Yasha and Sesshomaru comes to the fore as each brother attempts to destroy Naraku single-handedly. In the lighter-hearted episode 72, Inu-Yasha reveals the seldom-seen kindly side of his nature when he helps the Lynx-demon Bunza rescue his tribe in a way that preserves the diminutive boy's fragile pride. Knowing there are episodes of Inu-Yasha yet to come is reassuring--like knowing there's more chocolate cake left as you finish your first slice. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, nudity) --Charles Solomon

InuYasha is truly addictive, and buying the boxed sets is the most economical, compact way to order this long series. Buying it a few episodes at a time would be never-ending and expensive, and I can't imagine wanting just an episode here and there. I'm not really fond of anime, or cartoons, or even movies, for the most part, but InuYasha has won my heart, as it has won the hearts of so many others. This is a sweet and wonderful fairy tale about a teenaged Japanese girl who falls down a well into an earlier time, populated by humans, gods, and demons. The characters are fun and interesting, and have exciting adventures and teenaged infatuations. Anyone who has not experienced InuYasha is missing out on a really good thing.
Awesome.......2007-07-05
For those of you who haven't watched or has never heard of InuYash, you are missing something spectacular!!! Like many of the other anime lovers, I too, own seasons 1 through 3 as well. On top of that, I started buying the volumes that come after the third season. I wouldn't care how long InuYasha went on, as long as I enjoy it. I'm telling you guys, this anime series is one of the best there is. I am new to anime and what a way to start my collection!!! People, if you haven't got it now, you need to get it......NOW!!!! Great entertainment!!!
Awesome order.......2007-04-03

As good as expected.......2007-03-08
No its not the original Japanese, but if you like any of the dubed version on Cartoon Network, you'll love this. Just waiting for the other seasons to catch the episodes I missed from TV.

The first Inu-Yasha theatrical feature plays like an extended episode of the popular television series. Kagome, Inu-Yasha, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango are pitted not against Naraku, but against the moth-demon Menomaru, who was awakened by a falling shard from the enchanted Shikon Jewel. Menomaru seeks to recapture the power of his father Hyoga, who was defeated by Inu-Yasha's father when Hyoga came to Japan "from the continent" (i.e., during the Mongol invasion of 1274). Only the combined power of Kagome's arrows and Inu-Yasha's sword Tetsusaiga can defeat this mighty demon. Affections Touching Across Time is unusually handsome for a feature based on a broadcast series: When snow falls on Kagome's 20th-century home, the designers evoke the prints of Kawase Hasui. Unfortunately, the images have been compressed to fit the TV format, and there's no widescreen option. Still, it's a must-have for Inu-Yasha fans. (Unrated: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon
Description
200 years ago, InuYasha's father sealed away a powerful demon from China named Hyoga. A Shikon Jewel shard awakens Hyoga's son, Menomaru, inspiring him to absorb the remains of his father's power to take control of the world. It's up to InuYasha and his friends to stop this nearly invincible foe!

This is the least of the 4 movies.......2007-09-08
Inuyasha is a very good long running series. The movies range between alright to excellent. Affections Touching Across Time is alright. Its nowhere near the best. In fact the more I watch this movie, the less I like it each time. If your new to Inuyasha, I think its wise to skip this movie and check out the 1st season at least. All the character development is there.
Now I'm not saying this movie is all bad, its just not as great as many people say it is. I'm a fan of Inuyasha and think this movie is lacking. The story is the son of a demon, who's father was beaten by Inuyasha's father wants revenge. The villians name is Menomaru. The bad thing is, he's not a very interesting villian. His two female minions totally outshine him. They are very interesting and add to the movie in the battle scenes. In fact the best battles involves them Miroku and Sango. I also like the way they went into depth on the friendship between Sango and Kirara. I don't think this relationship got as much attention between the 1st and 3rd seasons. So I enjoyed the movie from that end.
This is what I got sick of really quick. The love triangle between Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikyo. After watching the first 2 seasons, I just feel this is done to death. Somebody needs to die or just move on. Now the bickering and romance between the two can be pretty fun at times but Jesus Christ, do it in smaller doses.
As I noted before, the battle scenes are pretty good. But the ones involving the sub villians, Sango, and Miroku were by the far the best. The final battle was ok, but pales in comparison to all of the movies that come after this. The soundtrack is nothing new. Its the exact same BGM you will hear from the series. This is the reason why it feels like one really long episode to me.
This movie really didn't introduce anything new. Its still good in its own way. This is going to appeal greatly to diehard fans like myslf that must have everything Inuyasha. If you haven't seen any of the movies then I recommend checking out the later ones first. This one isn't bad but its just not as good as the others.
Good Price and Good Movie.......2007-08-13
First I love to watch Inuyasha so the movie is good. Now the price that I got it for was very good.
Can't get enough InuYasha!.......2007-07-10
I have only been watching InuYasha on Cartoon Network for a month or so. I am an adult and I don't usually watch animation or even movies, but I will stay up until 2:30 am to watch InuYasha! The series is very beautiful, touching, and exciting. "InuYasha the Movie" is the first InuYasha DVD I have watched. It is excellent. The quality of the picture is better than you see on tv, even when watched on an old computer screen. The sound is very different from the tv show too, sounding very movie-like. I would really like to see this on the big screen, because it would be stunning. The art is beautiful. I absolutely love InuYasha and Kagome, they are so sweet, and there are very funny parts: when Kagome sees the huge moth demon, InuYashu tells her "size isn't everything, Kagome!" If you aren't familiar with the series or the movie, I highly recommend it, even for adults!
loved it.......2007-06-30
if you love the show you will love this and see how much the music can effect you while you watch in in some sceens i loved it you have to see if you loved the show is all i can say
my item was in terrible condition.......2007-06-23
I ordered a dvd and it arrived in terrible condition. It doesnt work at all. It skips and freezes all throughout the movie. I kept trying to move on past the bad parts but they kept re-occuring. Absolutely horrible.

Like the first Inu-Yasha feature, Affections Touching Across Time, The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass pits the regular cast against a new foe: Kaguya, who claims to be the legendary Moon Princess. Series creator Rumiko Takahashi mixes Eastern and Western elements in this supernatural tale: Kaguya's symbol is the pentacle, associated with magic in Europe. Like the Princess in the Japanese fable "The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter" (also called "The Maiden from the Sky"), Kaguya demands bizarre magical objects, which Kanna and Kagura fetch. The supernatural battles don't prevent Kagome and Inu-Yasha from squabbling or Miroku from making yet another ill-considered pass at Sango. Ultimately, the unacknowledged love they share enables Kagome and Inu-Yasha to defeat Kagura, and their warm moments recall the unexpected gentleness of the OVA "The Two Akanes: 'Ranma, Look at Me!'" from Takahashi's most famous creation, Ranma 1/2. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon
Description
With their greatest foe seemingly defeated, Inuyasha and his friends begin to return to their lives. But their short period of peace is once again shattered as a new enemy begins to emerge. Kaguya, the self-proclaimed Princess from the Moon of legend, begins a plan to plunge the world into a perpetual night of the full moon. Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, Sango and Shippo must once again unite to face the new threat.

One of the better movies.......2007-09-09
Inuyasha movie 2 gets better to me everytime I watch it. Even though I did notice a hole or 2 in the movie. I still enjoy it more than the first and each time I see it. I don't believe its perfect. It does have its flaws. Movie 3 was perfect.
This one opens up with the gang hot on Naraku's heels. Its a very good opening battle that ends with his death. Suddenly everything goes back to normal. Almost everyone spilts up and go they're seperate ways. A new threat arises in the form of Kaguya. A celestial being with awesome powers. She then recruits Naraku's female incarnations.
Unlike the last movie this one has a much better plot. It still consist of the same formula. The romance scenes between Inuyasha and Kagome. But this time I didn't find it that overdone like in the last movie. It still maintained its comedy but it was serious for the most part. Kaguya to me was a very interesting character and I feel she was a bit wasted. Kaguya would have fit in perfect in the series as another major villian. She was a very tough enemy. The final battle was very good with a big twist.
The animation to me seemed like a step up from the TV series and the last movie. The soundtrack was ok. It contained the same tracks from the series, except for one song in Inuyasha and Kagome's scene.
Overall movie 2 was very good and did not seem like a very long episode. This actually felt like a movie, unlike the first one. I believe a vast majority of Inuyasha fans would enjoy this. To me its the second best of the movies.
Great Buy!.......2007-06-27
My kids were super happy with this purchase. Quick shipping and a great transaction overall.
Inuyasha 2nd movie.......2007-05-15
This is a great movie, I loved it. The basic plot is one of, you think that what your facing now is bad and once you get rid of it, something that is worse comes to take it's place. The movie is also full of surprises. I'm not going to tell you that you'll like the movie, because it's up to you weather or not you will like it. But, of course, you'll never know, until you watch it. Have fun.
Good Stuff.......2007-04-10
It is a great movie. I recommend it to anyone who loves anime.
Love...Love...LOVE this movie.......2007-04-07
As much I enjoyed the first movie, this is the GREATEST InuYasha movie.
I fell in love w/ InuYasha due to the fact that it was set during the feudal era in Japan and that NO ONE used machine guns to fight. I strongly believe that swords are better weapons (takes a lot of strength to weild a sword). Guns are boring. I love their outfits. Although, at first I thought it was odd that Kagome would wear uniform.
About the movie, it had explanations on who the characters were, and how Myoga mentions that InuYasha looses his demonic powers during the New Moon (Not the Full Moon). The flow of the story is excellent. I also thought that it was absolutely clever on how the legend of the Bamboo Cutter was entwined with the story.
As much as I love the movie, there are a few things that I have issues with. For instance, even if the English dub is great, when the subtitle is on, it does not match to what they are saying. The subtitles are strictly translations of the Japanese version. 90% of the time, Kagome's lines consisted of "InuYASHA!" which makes it a great drinking game(anytime Kagome calls out to InuYasha, take a swig. Only when Kagome calls out, not when the others call. Heck, you'd be too wasted to even notice who calls out InuYasha). The pentagram, freaked me out. But Kguya was a witch. So there. There are a few unanswered questions, but I believe that it is up to us to "ponder" on what happens next (either that or it's a clever way to make us watch more episodes).
Over all, this is a great movie. I HIGHLY recomend this to ALL InuYasha fans.

Like the previous three Inu-Yasha features, Fire on the Mystic Island (2004) pits the cast of Rumiko Takahashi's "feudal fairy tale" against new foes, unrelated to the tale of the Shikon Jewel. This time, it's the Four War Gods, powerful demons on the island of Houraijima, who preserve and augment their power by sacrificing half-demon children. Director Toshiya Shinohara uses lots of CG effects in the endless fights: explosions, lightning bolts, fire bombs, poisonous insects. But the visual glitz can't disguise that Fire on Mystic Island is the weakest of the features. The War Gods are standard-issue villains whose demise is a forgone conclusion. Inu-Yasha's half-brother Sesshomaru walks into the film, slays one of the War Gods, and walks out. Introducing a replica of Kikyo feels like a desperate attempt to introduce some emotion into a faltering plot. Kagome and Inu-Yasha once again combine forces to defeat the most powerful demon, but the film lacks the strong character relationships that give the series much of its charm. Inu-Yasha fans may want Fire on the Mystic Island to complete their collections, but they'll look in vain for the visual beauty of Affections Touching Across Time, the warmth of Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, and the passion of Swords of an Honorable Ruler. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity) --Charles Solomon
Description
Within the dark recesses of Horai Island, a group of half-demons lives under the demonic rule of the Four War Gods. Escaping with barely a shred of hope, Ai, the youngest of the half-demons, returns to the island with Inuyasha, who must face not only the Four War Gods, but the past he left behind on the island fifty years ago.

don't bother.......2007-06-30
if you like the first three and the show stop there it is not worth it rent it if you have to see it it is not worth the time and the money
One of the Best Movies of the Series.......2007-05-29
This is a great stand alone movie for those looking to get into a great anime and not spend a lot of money on the episodes when they are not sure they will like it or not. For those who are long time fans it brings everything you have come to love about inu yasha: action, romance, and comedy.
In this particular film you discover more details about Inu Yasha's and Kikyo's ambiguous past relationship. This info is not critical to the series but it gives you some interesting insight. I say imbiguous because all you really know about the two is that they met, fell in love, and were tricked into detroying one another. Here you get a bit more detail about their dynamics you wouldnt otherwise see in the show.
The majority of the movie takes place on the mysterious Horai island, home to half demons not unlike inu yasha. This island home is meant to protect these hanyou (half demons) from humans and full blooded demons such as sesshomaru (not that he would dirty himself with them anyways). Usually the island is hidden by a thick and dense fog, but every 50 years or so the islad reveals itself to the outside world. It is then the Inu Yasha and friends meet a young demon girl who somehow knows inu yashan and needs his help. Also a mysterous blazen scar appears in Inu Yasha's back! He has no choice then to travel to the island to help not only the young hanyou, but himself as well.
That's a rather short plot i know but the movie also includes a side story with Sesshomaru and Rin. Characters who do not make an appearance this time around include Naraku, Kohaku, Kagura, Kanna, and Koga. (maybe it's an "K" thing?). But all your other favorites are there. Just sit back watch and enjoy. If you truly enjoy inu yasha, then you will truly enjoy this film.
Standard stuff.......2007-05-06
The animation is amazing. But the plot is pretty standard, especially in the Inu Yasha universe. I have grown tired of the writers using Kikyo or Kagome or their image to threaten Inu Yasha and force him to relive his most traumatic moment. The fights drag on for too long. And the whole movie just seems like spectacular excuse to give the fans more action, but no character development. The weakness of the series is the same weakness of this movie.
It was pretty good.......2007-03-04
This one doesn't compare to the first 3 but its still good. This story dives into Inuyasha and his brothers past. Inuyasha was marked by a team of demons who sacrifice half demon children to increase their power. The level of comedy is pretty low and this one is set with a little more serious tone. The Demons are no pushovers. All the fights were very good, the only problem is after watching this, you cant help but notice how weak Inuyasha really is. And just how powerful his brother is. Maybe the story should be surronded by his brother a lot more. Anyway if you like Inuyasha then this is a must buy.
Not breaking new ground.......2007-03-02
Fire on the Mystic Island is like the filler episode of the movie series. It's fun, it's pretty, it's got some great fights and some good dialogue and character interaction, but you don't really learn anything about the characters or the world of the series that you didn't already know. While I was watching it, I didn't get the feeling at any point that I was watching a movie. It felt just like a really long episode of the anime. If all that is what you're looking for, then you're in luck. If not, you probably won't enjoy it as much as the other three movies.

Reminded me of old times. Great DVD to have for the children.
Unrestored RE-release of shorts from the TIN releases........2005-08-18
***** Five Stars for the cartoons themselves! I give the low *** three start rating because WE ALREADY HAVE THEM ON DVD!
This collection is a cheaply put-together, un restored, re-release of cartoons from the DISNEY TREASURES TINS! THESE ARE NOT FROM THE SAME MASTERS! So why buy something you already have?
1) THE UGLY DUCKLING (1939) also on the "Disney Treasures: Silly Symphonies" DVD release.
2) COUNTRY COUSIN (1936) also on the "Disney Treasures: Silly Symphonies" DVD release.
3) FERDINAND THE BULL (1938) also on the "Disney Treasures: Rarities" DVD release.
4) WIND IN THE WILLOWS (1949) segement from the feature Icabod & Mr. Toad. Amazon sells the entire feature for just $15.99
With the Disney Treasures DVD releases on limited availability, I guess Disney hopes those who missed out will buy these 4-cartoon discs. The low price is misleading, when you break it down to individual cartoon cost this release is EXPENSIVE!
And no extras!
Cartoons on Disney's Timeless Tales, Volume Two.......2005-07-31
This DVD includes The Country Cousin (1936), Ferdinand the Bull (1938), The Ugly Duckling (1939) and The Wind in The Willows (1949). The Wind in The Willows was the first of the two animated sequences that are formed together to make The Adventures Of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949).

When young Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis) finds an abandoned baby, he is suddenly thrust unto an adventure filled with magic and danger. According to an ancient prophecy, the sacred child is destined to end the reign of the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh). Now, the only a single swordsman (Val Kilmer) at his side, Willow must overcome the forces of darkness that threaten to destroy anyone who stands in the Queen's way!
