Product Description
The house rips apart piece by piece. A bellowing cow spins through the air. Tractors fall like rain. A 15,000-pound gasoline tanker becomes an airborne bomb. A mile-wide, 300 miles-per-hour force of total devastation is coming at you: Twister is hitting home. In this adventure swirling with cliffhanging excitement and awesome special effects, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton play scientists pursuing the most destructive weatherfront to sweep through mid-America's Tornado Alley in 50 years. By launching electronic sensors into the funnel, the storm chasers hope to obtain enough data to create an improved warning system. But to do so, they must intercept the twisters' deadly path. The chase is on!
Amazon.com
Twister was a mega-million-dollar blockbuster--helmed by a director (Dutchman Jan de Bont) hot off another scorcher hit (Speed)--that flaunted state-of-the-art digital effects and featured a popular leading actress (Helen Hunt) who would win an Academy Award for her next film (As Good As It Gets). But ask anybody who's seen it and they'll tell you who the real star of Twister is: the cow. Not to give anything away, but the cow is one of those inspired little touches (like, say, Bronson Pinchot's career-making cameo in Beverly Hills Cop) that adds a touch of personality to a gigantic Hollywood production. The story is blown out the window after an impressive prologue in which Hunt's character, as a little girl, witnesses her daddy being sucked into a tornado. Basically, Hunt and Bill Paxton are thrill-seeking meteorologists chasing twisters in order to study them (and help warn people of them, of course) with a new technology they've developed. If you thought the Kansas tornado in The Wizard of Oz was every bit as scary as the Wicked Witch of the West, then this may be the movie for you. --Jim Emerson
Customer Reviews:
Twister, not just a party game.......2007-06-15
Being from the west coast I never had a whole lot of interest in the natural phenomena showcased in this film. Where I live an inch of rain is headline news. I had absolutely no interest in Twister until I saw it was on late one boring night. Having nothing better to do, I obliged the television and payed attention. I found Twister to be what I call a nice bedtime movie. While it failed to anthropomorphize the tornado the way Backdraft successfully did with fire, the characters were well fleshed out, there was a healthy balance of comedy, drama and (at the time) cutting edge special FX. I found that as long as the viewer came in with no expectation, Twister would be a fun and easy to watch nappy time movie, perfect for watching on a rainy day, curled up with a blanket. So to sum everything up, don't expect an epic, emotionally charged extravaganza, but if you are willing to accept a decently woven story with reasonably believable characters, and have a rainy afternoon to kill, check out Twister. You shouldn't be too disappointed.
A game of Twister anyone?.......2007-05-17
The funnest game of Twister I've EVER seen! Good movie, good cast. Watch it miss this house, hit that house, and then come straight for you.
GREAT.......2007-05-14
The movie was great seen it one thousand times, perfect condition and the seller i received my copy from was wonderful. Recommend to anyone who likes Tornadoes.
Twister is about characters........2007-05-14
Sure most of the relationships and characters are one dimensional, but they're still loads of fun. Sure you know what's coming, but it looks really amazing when it gets there.
Twister is an action movie with a little romance and comedy thrown in, but it's really the relationship between the main two characters and the fun dialogue between all that make you want to watch this over and over again.
As for realism, who cares, it's an action movie. But to be fair as unbelievable as most of this looks tornados really can do most of the things that are seen.
Overall, a fun ride.
one of the best disater movies of all time.......2007-05-08
This was one of my favoriote movies I saw grown up in my adolescent years. The story is about Jo a young woman living in the late eigties or ealy ninties who is obbsed with tornado after she saw here father sucked up and killed by and f5 tornado when she was about ten years old. Joining here I Hunt her ex husband and his new wife. The three go on adventures with his storm chaser bodies and tornadoes get bigger and the action more intense as it gets futher into the movie. The second half of the movie after the scene at the out door movie theater gets super intense. Can they survive the twisters and be the first people to take measurements inside there funnel with assitance of four weather machines filled with seansr all nicked named Dorthy. This action packed adventure movie will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and screaming for more. If you like this I also recommend Night of Twister, Volcano, and Earthquake if you can find it. This movie should be fine for 13 and up due to some heavy language and heavy peril scenes for a movie of its time. This movie is worth having regardless of the price. I say about 15 to 30 dollars is a reasonable price to pay for this movie depending on the conditon.

Customer Reviews:
Based on a book based on actual events.......2007-07-14
This movie was a slightly changed version of the Ivy Ruckman book by the same name, a fictionalized account of the real-life disaster that happened 6/3/1980 in Grand Island. The book was very good and well worth reading, but I found some of the storyline in the movie in some ways even better. It developed the characters well and the growth of them & their relationships with each other. The movie was actually made about a decade ago, so the special effects are more typical of that time but no less good. As a fellow Nebraskan who remembers that night, I found most of the weather-related detail accurate. Likewise, I found a few changes in miscellaneous details that only a Nebraskan would catch... check out the license plates, for example... worth the ticket price right there, if you ask me. It was a very reasonable and even good adaptation from an existing book, which is a feat in and of itself.
Excellent entertainment.......2007-04-14
Teenager Dan Hatch and his friend Amos are babysitting Dan's baby brother, watching TV and fooling around. But a major tornado is coming their way, unbeknownst to them but knownst to us, and we just want to scream, "Get the baby and get out of there NOW!". I just love the scene where the ping pong table swirls around for a few seconds, then flies away! In fact, unlike Twister which mostly showed us the damage from the outside, Night of the Twisters makes us feel much more "inside" the tornado. And it's fun! The scenario is very well done, carefully building up to the climax: the tornado chasing car scene. And the special effects are surprisingly good, right up there with Twister! Wholly recommended to any disaster movie buff.
Not that good.......2007-01-11
Wasnt as accurate and the action was stupid. The father was pinned under his truck and got up soon after and nothing was wrong. I seen alot of movies about twisters and other natural disasters and I think that any tornado movie needs quite abit of work. Tornado's are natural not created by testing of various factors. This movie was good but yet it wasnt at all accurate.

This amazing footage has been captured on video from across the U.S., and features incredible scenes from Emmy Award winning photographer, Jeff Piotrowski, a professional storm chaser. Customer Reviews:
A fantastic action - packed dvd.......2007-08-27
Thr dvd has all of the action that look for in a weather dvd.I,being an noaa trained volunteer weather spotter, love dvd's like this one because of the fact that all footage is ALL real-life with NO hollywood. It gives you real life situations that emergency workers have to deal with.I will also mention that i am an active DAT team member with the red cross in Greenwood and in those situations we also get involved.
AWESOME for the price!.......2007-04-11
I got this for my weather-loving 5 year old. It has live footage..and is WONDERFUL for the price. It would be great for anyone that loves weather! Buy it...you won't be disappointed for the price!
Great buy.......2007-03-12
This DVD has about everything a person could ask for when looking for something about tornados. There is the standard "meteorological talk" (which to some might be a bit on the cheesy side, but is educational and worthwhile in my opinion), great chase footage, as well as a good bit of footage about "after the storm," which is usually missing in all other tornado films. There is a lot of great "bonus footage" too. But the best part about this DVD is, whether you love it or hate it, it only costs about $3.00, so who could complain? (I can't leave out that this DVD also has a great sound clip of the "roar" tornadic thunderstorms often make -- that "freight-train" or, as I would call it "jet-engine" sound that everyone always talks about hearing when there has been a tornado.)
Product Description
Wave Twisters is an eye-popping, hip-hop meets Hanna-Barbera, animated adventure synched skratch for skratch with DJ Qbert's turntable master piece of the same name. Each Track of Q-Bert's original album was designed to provide the audio framework for another chapter in this sci-fi/kung-fu epic. Every aspect of the story - music, sound effects - even dialogue - has been seamlessly intergrated into Q-Bert's original musical compositions. Wave Twisters gives visual expression to Q-Bert's narrative while pioneering the concept of visual skratching.

Visual Brain Cartridge.......2007-01-19
The best visual experience available...and the sound may still be the best part. I've watched this over 20 times and still find elements new to me. I have bought this as gifts and have recommended it to very many who want a high end visual show.
All they said it was!.......2006-08-13
This product was exactly what I expected... I would definately order from them again!
Love His Mind.......2006-04-05
When I first saw this dvd, it was a first to me. I had never seen something so cool as this animated art filled dj-ing music experience. Dj-Qbert did a great job. I love how someone could think something like this and bring it into motion. I had to get me a copy of this dvd. I love animation, djs, and the hip-hop scene. This is one of the illest dvd's I have seen. Great entertainment for you and friends with the same taste.
i heart dj qbert.......2006-03-04
yeah. it's true. this movie is awesome. i think i watched it four times in the first week i had it.
Turntablistic Goodness.......2006-03-03
This animated movie is so good, I've been watching it every single day (sometimes more than once a day) since I got it. Any one who digs turntables, hip hop, or cool animation needs to check this out.

Description
Jamie Marshall (Kelly McGillis) is a "storm chaser" who, having lost her husband in a crash after his plane was struck by lightning, recklessly throws herself into her work. Sent by her boss to Colorado to investigate the cause of a devastating tornado, she meets Will Stanton (Wolf Larson), Field Coordinator for FEMA. One night, while working closely together examining the wreckage of the recent storm, Jamie and Will experience a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon - a ball of lightning falling from the sky connecting with the ground all around them. As Will tries to shield Jamie from the lightning, the two embrace and find themselves in a passionate kiss. The next day Jamie and Will return to the location. What they discover is a facility where waste from scientific experimentation is affecting the atmosphere causing the tornadoes. Armed with the new information and seven new tornadoes on the horizon, Jamie and Will prepare the already tornado ravaged town for another possible disaster! Kelly McGillis, Wolf Larson
Customer Reviews:
This really did suck.......2006-12-09
I seen bad movies before but this took the cake, The whole thing was just horrible and happened after the tornadoes ripped through a town. There was three scenes of kissing and one little scene of several twisters at the end which really sucked. I agree with the others when they said this was THE worst natural disaster movie. I watched Twister and Night of the Twisters and I got what I like but with this movie... All I got was a lesson in science and a bizarre coverup. Avoid at all costs!
Waste of time.......2004-06-02
Horribly thought out plot, bad acting, unlikeable characters, technically inaccurate, cheap FX and a stupid love story sub-plot all add up to an extreme waste of time.
Bought this out of the 6.99 bin and I still feel I was robbed.
This movie's only redeeming quality is that it makes for a fun drinking game if you drink for every plot hole. (don't drive afterwards)
it will blow you away.......2001-02-25
i thought it was a great movie good special fx great acting first rent it and see for yourself i think you will like it.

Utter Nonsense, Poor Stroy Line, and Bad Acting.......2000-08-18
I thought this would be a good sequel to "Twister." Was I ever wrong! The story line was poorly conceived. The acting was just as bad. If you want to see an action-suspense movie featuring tornadoes -- and, you really don't care about "realism;" then I suggest you get the original "Twister" instead. Leave this one on the shelves.
Description
To track the F4 Tornado, Dr. Christopher Weiss and Guinness Book of World Records holder, Roger Hill, patrol the heartland like profilers hunting a serial killer. These dedicated and fearless "twister chasers" have recorded both the indescribable majesty and the horrific devastation of tornadoes throughout the American Midwest.
TWISTER CHASERS also features "Twister Sisters" Peggy Willenberg and Melanie Metz, who put their lives at risk every spring to track supercell storms through "Tornado Alley"... and who beat rescue teams to the scene after the small town of Wilber, Nebraska is flattened by a Tornado measuring two miles wide.
Featuring never-before-seen footage of Mother Nature at her angriest and mankind at its most humbled, TWISTER CHASERS takes you into the eye of the storm to flirt with death while you experience the ride of the lifetime.

I Dont Actually Know Why This Film Was Even Called Twister Because There Is Not One Scene Where a Tornado Is Ever Seen. This Is a 3rd Rate Flop About a Family Trying To Sort Out There Lives But Nothing Ever Happens. This Film is a "Nothing" Movie.
as great as you want it to be...........2006-06-20
This movie is an interesting snapshot of some gifted actors in the late 1980's. Tim Robbins, who appears briefly in a cameo, obviously went on to have a major career. Crispin Glover found a unique niche of his own as an on- and off-screen eccentric. Suzy Amis appeared in a succession of minor roles and disappeared from movie screens. But more than that, Twisted in its entirety represents one of the signal artistic successes of that largely reactionary decade.
This is a film that can be watched as pure entertainment, and indeed it is hugely entertaining watching the Clevelands lurch from one catastrophe to another. But beyond that, it is filled with an unforgettable sequence of cinematic images: the opening shot of Violet dragging a vacuum cleaner across an empty field; the scene where Dylan McDermott deflates a large inflatable dinosaur with a smoldering cigarette butt; the plastic lizard that keeps migrating from one body of water to another; the voyeuristic helicopter; the golf shot from the widow's walk of the mansion; a lawn table floating in a swimming pool, a giant mascot lying in the wreckage spawned by a tornado. These images are precisely and beautifully composed but they are never presented as obvious symbols or filmic metaphors. Instead, they just exist alongside the capricious whims and behaviors of the Cleveland kids.
And that's not all. This is one of the few movies I can remember in which there is frequently no distinction between diagetic and non-diagetic musics. During the early interior scenes, the attentive listener will note that Milt Jackson has been tied up in the Cleveland's basement and administered a large dose of psilocybin--or so it sounds. Clearly, no Muzak could possibly sound like this, and so the question is: where is it coming from, what is it, and what does it mean?
The film of course does have a theme. It's the familiar old tale of materialism gone awry. The Clevelands, by virtue of their wealth, have been insulated from both the effects of nature and the consequences of their actions. A tornado destroys a nearby town while the Cleveland's revival mansion is spared. Howdy and Mo vacillate between morose withdrawal and sudden violent outbursts, with no concern for those around them, and yet survive in the bowels of their bloated affluence. And in the end, Lola--the moral center of a movie without a moral center--goes off with the rich and dissembling patriarch rather than remaining with the monstrous children as their surrogate mother. Can't say I blame her there.
This movie would be a leaden failure if it were as depressing as I'm making it sound. Actually it's exhilarating, funny, brilliantly acted--and allows William S. Burroughs his 15 minutes of screen fame (the target practice came a little late for old Bill's wife). Add it all up and you have a film that allows cineastes to uncover subtleties while never veering into pomposity or arthouse cliches. A terrific film from Michael Almereyda.
Crispin Glover fans beware.......2004-02-11
I wanted to like this movie, being a Crispin Glover fan. Would "Back to the Future" have been the same without him? Heck, no. And he was absolutely perfect for "Willard." He also does standout work in a number of other movies, such as "River's Edge." But his reputation as a major weirdo is not reason alone to cast him in a movie like "Twister," a film ostensibly about a really weird family which I guess is supposed to be funny and quirky, but winds up being a frustratingly dry bore. And this family isn't particularly weird at all. They're just white trash. I'm sure the director cast Glover because he's the goofiest actor most people can think of, but instead of making the family wacky by his mere presence, he's just stuck in what is essentially a very boring movie.
The plot, such as it is, mostly concerns a man named Chris attempting to reconcile with Maureen, the mother of his daughter, Violet. Why he wants Maureen back in his life is perplexing, to say the least, since within the first fifteen minutes of the movie we have seen that she is a horrible mother and a lazy drunk to boot. Glover plays her brother, a moron named "Howdy". He doesn't have much to do except act like a nutcase. Meanwhile, Maureen and Howdy's father (Harry Dean Stanton), a soda pop/miniature golf tycoon, is busy romancing a young televangelist. Not much else happens. Howdy runs around being irritating. There's also a tornado that arrives halfway through the movie and has absolutely no effect on either the characters or the plot. Tim Robbins, a stellar actor who has no business being within ten miles of this dull mess of a movie, has a cameo; he plays a guy who does what we as viewers have been longing to do, which is punch Howdy in the face.
How did this movie get made? Why did a reputable company like Artisan agree to distribute it? How can anyone watching this movie be anything but disappointed? (Although, I must admit I should have known I was in trouble when I saw that Stanton got top billing in the credits.) It's not that the movie is awful or stupid, it's just plain... well, boring. The acting is fine (with the exception of the miscast Glover; as discussed above, there is the type of movie in which his bizarreness works wonders, and there is also the type of movie in which he is simply grating), but there is no sympathy to be had for any of the characters. The plot is fairly cohesive, but devoid of any interesting conflict. The pace is plodding.
Some poeple enjoy a movie that meanders. Some people like certain movies in which "nothing happens." I can be one of those people. But "Twister" simply fell flat, in my opinion. I can't quite put my finger on why. Oh, well. I'm going to sell my copy to the used book store. Maybe they'll give me a dollar for it. Then I can buy an ice cream cone, which I'm sure will be a much more rewarding experience.
The Best Film About Kansas Since The Wizard of Oz.......2003-12-10
Crispin Glover fans will be in hog heaven when they see this neglected classic. He chews up the scenery, spits it out, and chews it up all over again. He wears leather jackboots, cracks a whip, and plays echoplex guitar-drenched love songs that don't seem to go anywhere. He also sings a great song called "Daddy Was So Mean". His delivery is so delicate that every line spoken trembles with sensitivity.
Watch out for the million-dollar cameo from Bull Lee, author of "Junky".
Crispin Glover fans be happy.......2003-09-09
Real excited about this DVD. If we could just get "The Dark Backward," and "Rubin and Ed" to be released on DVD, we could view these strange oddities all the time. "Twister" is a very strange movie with a nice cast. Everyone is pretty damn nuts, it's nice to see all these actors out of their minds. This is Crispin's strangest role to date, and that is a BOLD statement. Be sure to buy this if you like a dose of insanity once and a while.

Description
