This movie has got it all, good story, great animation, and good music. Even if you aren't a Chipmunks fan you should get this.

I remember watching this cartoon as a kid and absolutely loving every minute of it. I was a huge fan of `The Chipmunks' and watched their cartoon's religiously, so it's only expected that with the birth of my first child right around the corner I would seek out and purchase some cartoons that I myself adore. `The Chipmunk Adventure' I can honestly say still stacks up even in its old age. It's funny and entertaining and enjoyable even in my adulthood. The animation may not be as flashy and realistic as we have today but there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned cartoon every once in a while. The storyline is engaging, the characters are likable and the entire feel of this cartoon, the vibe and atmosphere is sure to excite and entertain any child. There are a few things I found a little annoying but there's not enough here to really complain about.

First let's discuss the storyline. Dave, the Chipmunks father figure, is traveling to Europe on business and is leaving the boys in the hands of absent minded babysitter Miss Miller. Alvin is none to happy with this arrangement for he wants to travel with Dave and see the wonders of the world. He soon gets his opportunity when two shady strangers overhear a conversation, or a fight, between Alvin and Brittany (leader of the Chipettes) in regards to who could really win a race around the world. It just so happens that these two strangers, Klaus and Claudia, are in need of some transporters to smuggle their stolen diamonds. They devise a plan rather rapidly to send the Chipmunks and the Chipettes on a race around the world, having them deposit dolls stuffed with diamonds at certain checkpoints along the way. Of course this group of young rodents doesn't realize the dolls are carrying precious cargo and just feel that these two creepy adults are rich and bored, and besides, the winner will receive $100,000 and that's about all the persuading Alvin and Brittany need. So, Alvin, Simon and Theodore set off in one direction while Brittany, Jeannette and Eleanor set off in the other and each of them meet danger in varying ways.

The film is filled to the brim with action and adventure and musical numbers. The musical numbers, as hilarious as they are, present my first lukewarm feeling. First of all, maybe it's just me, but was it easier to understand what they were singing when we were younger. I had the hardest time figuring out the words to the songs. Maybe children can hear at a higher octave than adults can. Secondly, some of the songs are not songs I'd want my children to sing, some of them are somewhat suggestive ("get lucky with you") and just not for children. I know this was the 80's and these songs were popular, but as a soon-to-be parent I find myself a little more judgmental of things. Like I said though, this is not enough for me to really complain about.

I also would have liked to see the boys really understand the danger in what they did, leaving home unchaperoned, trusting strangers...things of that nature. Other than Theodore mentioning the guilty feeling once and Simon somewhat bickering in the beginning the boys never really acknowledge how wrong their actions were, nether does Dave for that matter. I know this is a cartoon, but cartoons are notorious for morals and lessons learnt and I feel that this one could have established those a little better. Regardless, this is still a fun time and not something I would hesitate to place before my daughter. It remains a highlight of my youth and I'm hoping it becomes a highlight of hers.

This is one of those movies you watched as a child and will want to watch again as an adult. Me for example: I went out with a few friends came home slightly tipsy. And all of a sudden I thought I want to watch that movie... The one with the chipmunks and singing and traveling the world. That thought stuck in my head for WEEKS. It took me awhile to find, but it is well worth it. I think I love this movie even more than I did as a child.

Ummm, I have LOVED this movie since I was a kid!! I loved it when I was in high school and now...I have to say, it is even better from an adults point of view!! I am SO happy that my kids can grow up watching it as well!! Thank goodness for kids movies that adults can watch, enjoy and laugh hysterically at as well!! OWN THIS MOVIE!!!! LOL

this movie is just one hell of a good time. from beginning to end. it has lots of action, suspense, and you just don't know what to expect with so many criminally insane people on board one plane. just what you'd imagine would happen, there's a leader, the followers, and a pleaser. a little bit of everything you got the smart ones, the tough ones, the weak ones, the crazy ones, and a couple of good ones. a bunch of bad seeds aboard and take over the plane to try to escape. up to one guy to be the hero. in comes nicolas cage a good old southern boy, just at the wrong place at the wrong time, his hearts in the right place, but it's him against a bunch. very strong, and determined in this film i thought he was excellent. the good guy, the loving husband, and caring father. great actor, and as always did it just right. john cusack another of my favorites. is a bit funny and nics helper on the ground. they form a friendly bond through all this drama, and the evil villian john malkovich, is a great one for sure. smart, crazy, and mean. a deadly combination. overall the movie is great, definitely recommend.

This is always a good movie to throw in. Yeah it's extremely far fetched, and Nicholas Cage's accent sounds really corny, (hummin'bird). Also, being a 20 year resident of the Carson City area, I can vouch that the prison scene was NOT filmed in Carson City...LOL. Hey, the scenes in the desert were real! In Wendover (aka Werner Field), that's what it really looks like. It's one of those movies that you plop into the player, flop onto the sofa with a plate of cold pizza and a coke and then waste the weekend morning away...ahh, heaven!

Women are not typically prone to watch a tough action movie like this one. But the strong silent type man character portrayed here with an adoring wife and child seems to bring out their empathy. My wife and I both love this movie. I originally rented it but after one viewing it was obvious it was a had to own. We have watched it numerous times since. Nicholas Cage is outstanding, but the rest of the cast lends such a wide array of talent that it gives that over the top action and fun that makes it stand above many others of this genre. I love John Cusack and his performance here is great. He is the Yang to Cage's Ying. With Cage being the tough hard hitter, Cusack adds enough comic relief to make the movie very palatable. Add in some unforgettable performances by John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames, and Colm Meaney and you have a powerhouse. I highly recommend this one. If you enjoy it, be sure to catch "The Rock".

...John Malkovich's character (Cyrus the Virus) announces after taking over a state of the art prisoner transport plane. This and many other lines help make Cyrus one of the most charismatic and lovable convicts I've seen in a long time (he is the bad guy in the movie though, but I can't help but like him). There is tons of other great characters in this movie as well, many of them covicts. Nicholas Cage, John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, David Chapelle, and Ving Rhames are all solid as usual.

Yes this is standard Jerry Bruckheimer action fare, but that's not a bad thing. It's a movie made to entertain and that's it. There is loads of comic relief and pleasantly cheesy dialogue that helps to make sure you don't take the film too seriously. As mentioned by others the Unrated Extended Edition DVD has absolutely no special features, which is a little disappointing, but the movie by itself is worth the price regardless.

Air America is one of those movies that could have been great, and now maintains its low-key reputation as a typical Mel Gibson film in the wake of his first two Lethal Weapon hits. Originally conceived as a biting black comedy about the CIA's top-secret smuggling operation in Laos during the Vietnam war, Air America lost most of its political sting when it was transformed into an action comedy for Gibson and costar Robert Downey Jr. The film is entertaining as far as it goes, with a few action sequences that explain where a lot of the budget went. If you're in the mood for some Mel, this one is a little off the beaten path, and still contains a percentage of its original potential. --Jeff Shannon

Sarcastic humor on top of a deep message about the American chapter of Viet Nam. I enjoyed the movie and Gibson and Downey delivered stellar performances. Really made you think how our government worked with other governments to deliver Holiday Inns (own and opperate).

Description

Salva is a kid from a humble neighborhood making a living by begging for money in the subway with his inseparable friend Angel. When begging is not enough, they contemplate stealing. Seeing how well all kinds of prophets and preachers make out on television duping everyone, they decide to do the same. They make up a story about having a healing potion -"Celestial Vermouth"—but an accident lands them in jail. The host of the reality show "Hard Hand", where the audience decides if someone condemned to death will be saved (no one has yet), sees in Salva a chance to improve the ratings. He intends to have Salva, who is innocent, judged and condemned, but the audience likes Salva, frees him and turns him into a hero of the masses.

No real surprises in the story here (the tone's rather like Frank Capra's been soaked for too long in bitter orange juice), but extremely well-made. Wonderful production design, crisp editing, nice cinematography, and good comic acting, particularly from Jordi Molla as the bewildered anti-hero at the center of the hurricane. If you're in the mood for satiric jabs at our media-crazed age, laced with wicked anti-clericalism, the picture's worth a look.

Action films are difficult buisness. Audiences today expect ever impressive action, smooth one-liners and enough explosions to make John McClane jump off a 20-storey building. While these two films don't reach the excellent heights of THE ROCK and FACE OFF, they're still fun entertainment. The pairing of two of Nicholas Cage's most high-octane action-addrenalin films sits together well, with both GONE IN 60 SECONDS and CON AIR making a very satisfying action night. Produced by action maestro Jerry Bruckheimer, CON AIR is one of my favourite Nic Cage films (Second only to FACE OFF). Effortlessly cool, it's a must-have DVD. This has tons of action, smart one-liners, great actors (John Malcovich as "The Virus" and Steve Buscemi as Garland Greene) and the Bruckheimer M.O: awesome action and big things exploding. Great fun. Directed by Dominic Sena, GONE IN 60 SECONDS isn't as impressive, and although Cage is cool, Angelina Jolie doesn't do much. Director Sena (SWORDFISH) spends too much time on un-interesting sup-plots and not enough on fun action set-pieces. The last 20 minutes are very exciting though, with a montage of high-speed chases in trademark Bruckheimer style. Not as good as THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, but if you want a fast car chase flick with incredible action, then this is a must.

He always plays the best parts and seems to always be the hero!! Also he and all the actors in gone in 60 Sec. fit the part perfectly!! You go Guys!!

Two great movies one low price.......2001-11-30

I must say this is a fantastic pack! Nicholas Cage is a fantastic actor and these are two of his best films. Con-air is a movie that has it all! It would definetly in my all time top ten films. As for Gone in Sixy seconds a great car flick and the fact that it has Joey Jeramiah from Degrassi Junior high in it makes is all the more sweeter! For the small price it's well worth checking out!

Gone in 60 Seconds.......2001-07-31

Gone in 60 seconds is remade in modern hollywood style with tremendous gusto. The movie never yearns for more energy or excitement. One must admit that the plot is shallow as well as the characters. However, this movie is for those who like a little excitement and speed topped off with tough down and dirty characters played by two of the hollywoods toughest Nicolas Cage and Angela Joule. This movie is for those who want excitement and action. If you want a deep thoughful plot look further.

Con Air is proof that the slick, absurdly overblown action formula of Hollywood mega-producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun, Days of Thunder, The Rock, Crimson Tide) lives on, even after Simpson's druggy death.
