No one goes to a movie directed by Michael Bay for delicacy and grace; you go because Michael Bay (Armageddon, The Rock) knows how to make your bones rattle during a high-speed chase when a car flips over, spins through the air, and smacks another car with a visceral crunch. Bad Boys II fulfills this expectation and then some. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence may be mere puppets amid all this burning rubber and shrieking metal, but they actually provide a human core to the endless cascade of car wrecks and gunfights. Their easy rapport makes their personal problems--a running joke is Lawrence's attempts at anger management--as engaging as the sheer visual hullabaloo of bullets and explosions. The plot is recycled nonsense about drug lords and dead bodies being used to smuggle drugs, but orchestration of violence is symphonic. If that's your thing, then this is for you. --Bret Fetzer

Great movie! The second in the Bad Boys movies. Will Smith adds the comic relief parts into the movie while Martin Lawrence is the serious guy. Lots of action and excitement.

4 out of 5 stars Yeah, its the sequel. Wanna make something of it?,.......2007-06-13

This movie was by far the best action of that summer it came out. Not quite as good as the first, however, in this second `Bad Boys" the action scenes are just ridiculously sweet. Eight years after the success of the first film, the creative talents responsible have reunited and produced a summer action film that delivers. `Bad Boys 2' not only improves on the action content but it sets new standards for buddy cop movies to aspire.

The film continues the adventures of Miami Narcotics cops Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), and Marcus Bennett (Martin Lawrence), as they battle the bad guys and each other to stop a dangerous drug trafficker named Tapia (Jordia Molla') from flooding the streets with his deadly version of Ecstasy and from smuggling millions of dollars out of the country.

While the plot may seem like any other taken from other films in the genre, `Bad Boys 2' benefits from the great chemistry between Smith and Lawrence and the steady flow of action from director Michael bay who keeps the action flowing but never lets it upstage the characters in the film. The action is nonstop and gripping and there are numerous chases in the film that will not only delight but also raises the bar for future films to follow. One such chase had Mike and Marcus in a high-speed pursuit of the bad guys in a stolen car hauler. The scene was awash in action, energy and humor as the two detectives traded barbs with each other and bullets with the bad guys while dodging a vast array of vehicles that had been dropped from the hauler in an effort to stop the pursuit. The stunt work was amazing and it was a scene of masterful creation that kept the adrenaline flowing and the effects were used to enhance the scene without taking center stage away from the human element. This is but one of three main chase scenes in the film and each one was spectacular as it offered something new to what has often become a tired cliché in action films.

The film also had some great moments of humor and a scene in a video store where a frustrated Marcus bares his soul to Mike unaware that there conversation is not private is hysterical as is the scene where the two harass a young man who has come to take Marcus's daughter on a first date. While the action is hot and constant, it should be noted that it is very violent and there are some scenes that upped the ante on graphic violence it is never gratuitous and often appropriate for the situation that it was presented in.It is a good ride the entire movie and the running time of over 2 hours was fine with me. I was waiting for a good action movie from Bay between that time since his latest movies and been somewhat dismal. After tremendous movies like "The Rock" and "Bad Boys, "I waiting for another one, and this was it. Only thing I missed in Bad Boys 2 was the movie theme from the first one by musician Marc Mancina, however, Trevor Rabin did a good job with the music for the action sequences. All in all, this movie kicked end.

Prior to starring in the hard-edged 1983 drama Bad Boys, Sean Penn had proven his early promise in the TV movie The Killing of Randy Webster, played a memorable supporting role in Taps (with fellow newcomer Tom Cruise), and created the definitive California surfer dude as the perpetually stoned Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. But it was Bad Boys that cemented Penn's reputation as a rare talent--an actor whose skill transcended his youth, revealing a depth and maturity that the majority of his acting peers could only aspire to. That gravity and emotional dimension is evident throughout Penn's performance here as Mick O'Brien, a chronic offender whose path to a Chicago juvenile corrections facility seems utterly preordained. The institution is hardly conducive to reformation--it's a jail for problem kids, and a cauldron for all the societal ills that sent kids there in the first place. Mick's there because he was involved in a shootout during a botched robbery of drugs from rival street gangster Paco Moreno (Esai Morales), whose little brother was killed when Mick accidentally ran him over with his getaway car.

Overcrowding results in Mick and Paco's being sent to the same facility (one of the film's few stretches of credibility), and this leads to a rather predictable showdown that will take the juvie prison's violence to its inevitable extreme. It's a shame this conclusion ultimately doesn't live up to the film's superior first hour, but Bad Boys remains a remarkably authentic, even touching portrait of troubled youth whose torment is conveyed through thoughtful and richly emotional development of characters. Director Rick Rosenthal (who had previously helmed Halloween II) maintains a vivid sense of setting within the correctional facility's cold walls, and through the performances of Penn and a superb supporting cast (including Ally Sheedy in her film debut as Mick's girlfriend), Bad Boys emerges as one of the best films of its kind, forcing the viewer to ask difficult questions about at-risk youth and the proper way to improve or at least preserve their endangered lives. --Jeff Shannon

4 out of 5 stars HOROWITZ ALL THE WAY!!!.......2007-07-18

My favorite character (played by Eric Gurry) in this emotion-packed, action-packed prison drama.
Loved it when Horowitz starts a food fight/riot in the mess hall and practically goes bonkers with the
joy of it. A real blast.

There is a fight scene in this flick that entails a pillow case filled with canned sodas that is worth the price of admission alone.

It's hard to believe that the same guy who directed the lame Halloween II directed this hard-hitting punks-in -trouble flick--but he did.

Definitely worth seeing. Ally Sheedy, Sean Penn do good work. Reni Santoni is also excellent here.

3 out of 5 stars A good movie.......2007-07-05

I saw this when it first came out in the theaters and have finally got this on DVD. If you are in late 30's or early 40's, it will show that people have not changed much.

3 out of 5 stars Bad Boy, Bad Boy Whatcha Gonna Do?.......2007-06-05

The first hour or so of this movie Kayos Will Smith's and Marty-Mart's later Bad Boy efforts. Unfortunately it does slow down once the charactor Horowitz is removed.
Unintentional humor is found throughout: Horowitz chowline scene whacking Viking with the tray, Willie-Man doing the stealth shotgun run in the beginning, Horowitz going to solitaire yelling "you can't do this to me" and another prisoner coming back with "Oh yes he can!"
Sean Penn gave us a preview of his winning portrayal of an Irish hood to come in "STATE OF GRACE". An excellent job of understated emotion (which anyone knows is how you survive while incarcerated) until the very end when the enormity of the situation appeared to finally wash over Mick.
Clancy Brown as Viking made a name for himself with me and my crew forever - No matter what else he's appeared in it's always "yo, that's Viking -- I wonder what happened to Tweetie?" Isn't that the essence of an outstanding acting job?
A winner of the 80's that because of the lack of flying blood, explosions and automatic weapons doesn't get as much credit in this decade.

3 out of 5 stars It was a good movie!.......2007-04-02

First of all, I wasn't a huge Sean Penn fan at the time. However, with that being said, this movie made me a huge fan after I saw it. Frankly, with the exception of "Mystic River" and "I am Sam" this has got to be my favorite right among those. Don't let me forget, Esai Morales also does a great job as well. I think this movie was ahead of it's time, and it opened the door for a lot of prison dramas of this genre. With that being said, I do think that there's a lot more to prison than what was shown. I don't think they showed all of the brutality in it's fullness that goes along with prison life. I think they showed just enough for you to get the point, but it wasn't as explicit or raunchy as a lot of other films. I wouldn't call this a classic, but it did show that Sean Penn has what it takes to be taken seriously after playing "Jeff Spicoli" in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" which was more teen comedy fun, and way less edgy or gritty than this.

3 out of 5 stars Bad Boys.......2007-03-15

If you like prison, jail, or revenge movies then this is a good movie to watch. Sean Penn and Esai Morales are up-and-coming actors in this sad, but realistic movie about troubled teens growing up in the tough streets of New York who get caught up in a chain of events and eventually end up in the same youth corrections facility and are out for revenge on each other. I thought it was a good movie.

Bad Boys
Slick to a fault, this glossy action flick takes place in sunny Florida, where Martin Lawrence and Will Smith play two cops--one married with kids, the other a swinging bachelor. The two are forced to trade places to foil criminal mastermind Fouchet (Tchéky Karyo) who has stolen $100 million worth of heroin from a police lockup. Violent, illogical, and filled with wall-to-wall profanity, Bad Boys was the last film produced by the hit-making team of Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer before Simpson's untimely death, and marked the directorial debut of Michael Bay who followed up with The Rock. Bad Boys will be of interest to action buffs and fans of Téa Leoni, who makes one of her early screen appearances in the central supporting role. --Jeff Shannon

Bad Boys II

the stupid movies are in wide screen and it says nothing about that in the discription or on the boxes for that matter. bad boys 1 is not that bad tha ratio only dropes an inch on each end but 2 is horndus with about a 2.5" black stripe top and bottem

5 out of 5 stars Bay! A Genius Emerges.......2006-09-28

While I thought this movie was silly ... and the script was particulary ridiculous ... also the performances were competent but not transcendant ... and the whole identity confusion thing was unnecessary, but I guess when the script and story are so thin you have to find something to fill the 90 minutes. So yes, this movie is severely flawed and not worth anyone's time to see it, but (and it's a big but) you can see the genius of Michael Bay working his way through the film. Little things: the placement of a trash can, the bangles on Tea Leoni's wrist, the use of slow motion, when it doesn't seem called for. The rest of it is really intangible and I don't know whether he did this before or after that terrific Lionel Richie video he did, but there's a certain uncomprehensible quality that just screams ... Bay = Genius. So again, I would see this only if you consider yourself a Bayophile. Even then, you'll not like it, but you'll appreciate what Bay tried to do, even though everyone else let him down.

5 out of 5 stars Put Your Money on the Bad Boys!.......2005-11-06

The bad boy duo that you once witnessed took it there, and were back to take it there again. These thrillers are action packed from beginning to end. Bad Boys and Bad Boys II are must haves in every DVD collection.

In the premiering Bad Boys movie, detective Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) of the Miami Police Department partner up to take on a mission to retrieve 100 million dollars worth of missing cocaine and save the Narcotics Department from being shut down. When their jobs are on the line, a couple of murderers and a witness will only make them focus on putting their "bad boy" skills to work.

In the sequel, Bad Boys II, there is more action and a bigger crime to be investigated. Between the emotional and short fused personality of Marcus and the calm but aggressive behavior of Mike, negative issues in their partnership are on the rise. Issues hit a climax when Marcus is revealed a shocking secret about his sister Sydney, who works for the DEA, and Mike's affair. But not a bullet, some ecstasy pills, or a few crashed cars will stop these two detectives from fulfilling their prestigious bad boy reputation.

If you recall, when Bad Boys was released in 1995, Sony Productions made a total gross profit of $68,647,413. Bad Boys II opened in 2003 and made a total gross profit of $138,608,444. Director Michael Bay shot and hit the target of most American movie consumers. Both movies did very successful.

Some final words for all action seekers. If you have it, keep it. If you want it, go get it. If you've never seen it, rent it. Because once you watch it, you will not regret the purchase.

Non-Stop action and comedy. Great combo buy, cheaper than seperate tittles put together. "Bad Boy for Life"

4 out of 5 stars Great collection.......2005-07-04

These two movies are very good movies that should be in everyone's collection. There's a wesome action, great comedy, and 2 just awesome movies. They both involve Martin Lawrence and Will Smith as cops who have to deal with crime. They work so well together and that makes the movie even more likeable. They're just a great duo. Both movies delivered great laughs and explosive and memorable action scenes.
But, I have to say that I loved the 2nd one and liked it a lot better than the original. The second one had great humor and some of the most awesome action scenes and chases ever! I mean, you have no idea what cool is if you didn't see Bad Boys 2.
There are big guns, and sweet cars( Ferrari Marrinello, Caddilac, Hummer H2) in beautiful locations. Believe me, the action, chases and humor are great.
The only downsider to me and the only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the language and some unnecessary scenes. But I mean the language is pervasive with a lot of F words being used. But besides that, it's great. The opening scene of Bad Boys II is awesome!

Rudyard Kipling himself couldn't have imagined scenes more stunning than the ones captured by the creators of The Second Jungle Book: Mowgli and Baloo. The film, a live-action follow-up to Disney's 1994 Jungle Book feature, attaches itself to the loincloth of young wolf-raised Mowgli as he leads a gang of greedy grown-ups on a wild goose chase through the jungles of India, circa 1890. In the course of this breathless caper, a visual delicacy is cooked up. Eyes of all ages will be loath to wander from the screen as it shifts from one color-drenched, wildlife-rife scene to the next. The animals, more than the wilderness, are what give this film its Eden-like quality--Mowgli protectors Bagheera the panther and Baloo the bear, as well as wolves, tigers, a pack of prowling monkeys, and even exotic snakes of the deadly variety all mix and mingle to gorgeous effect. And that's not to give the tale unraveling all the while short shrift. Kipling, of course, never once spun a second-rate story, and this adaptation doesn't tinker with way-off ideas of its own. Bill Campbell is fully believable as an Indiana Jones-like circus scout, and Roddy McDowall is at his eccentric best as a cave-dwelling monkey commander. --Tammy La Gorce

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLY MADE.......2004-11-17

I have no idea why I saw this movie in the first place, perhaps it was because The Jungle Book is a fascinating story. However I was realy dissapointed not only is the film boring but it is very silly
(in a stupid way). The action scenes were terrible. I recommend this movie to 6 year olds who dont care about the quality of movies.

5 out of 5 stars Great Adventure!!!!!!!.......2004-05-04

This movie is absolutely great. My parents recently bought it on DVD and we all watched it. It's a great movie which would deserve a higher rating. Many people said that it is boring. I think they have said that because in the first 20 minutes of the movie no one is talking plus Mowgli isn't talking. Well guess WHAT, Mowgli isn't supposed to talk because he was raised by wolves. DUH!! So I really think people should give this movie a higher rating.
This movie is the second jungle book movie where Mowgli finds himself wanted for a circus. Baloo and his other friends want to rescue him and save him. This is a good movie and demands our attention. I suggest that everyone should buy it or at least rent it. I am grateful my parents bought it for me. It's GREAT!!!!

1 out of 5 stars quite boring.........2004-04-04

the young actor is great in this movie, but the film itself is non-exciting and a bit boring.***

5 out of 5 stars Good movie for whole family.......2003-01-29

When I saw this movie 1st time, I remember for my childhood, when I saw famous The NeverEnding Story first time. If you loved that movie, or E.T., or Indy Jones, then this movie is the right one for you. The only one thing I don't like on this movie is, it's too short. I'm glad that someone's making the movies, where the strong story and very talented actor is more than action superheroes with their blazing guns.

Jamie Williams (Mowgli) is very talented actor. It's very believable that he's real feral child in many scenes. His ability to play character's emotions and his body speech is exceptional. Althought he was 10 and half years old only, he performed all stunt scenes in the movie. In few scenes, he didn't show the fear, when he was about 5 feets far from the adult tiger, who was on thin lead only. Some review says that fake animals are used in some animal scenes. It's not true. They used blue screens and split scenes few times, but all animals in the movie are real.

5 out of 5 stars See this movie on DVD!.......2002-10-26

First of all, I would like to say, PLEASE do not be misled by the few negative customer reviews. Check out the honest editorial review. Also, I was puzzled to see only a few customer reviews for such an amazing and worthwhile film.

This film is a prequel to Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, the live action film released by Disney. It looks and feels very similar to that film, as it was produced by the same team.

My family was familiar with the VHS version. We loved the film, but we noticed some of the limitations in a few of the special effects sequences. We were also painfully aware of the limitations of the full frame format.

This is truly one of the most stunning films we have seen on DVD! The improvement over the VHS version has to be seen to be believed. This is not just exaggerated praise. We have watched well over 200 movies on DVD, and this is one of the best.

The film was shot entirely on location in beautiful Sri Lanka, and the cinematography is breathtaking. Now, thanks to the widescreen DVD format, you can see it all.

Also, in widescreen you can now see all the actors. Many scenes were shot with four or five actors on screen. In full frame, two or three of them are always getting cut off.

Many of the animal scenes have four or five species of animal in the picture. On VHS, you could only see two. Now you can see the whole stunning scene.

The movie has everything -- humor, drama, adventure, excitement, -- and a hauntingly beautiful musical score. At the end, the entire family had tears of joy in their eyes.

Special mention must be made of young Jamie Williams, who gives a most convincing performance.

The film also stars Bill Campbell (The Rocketeer), and Roddy Macdowell in one of his last film roles.

Do not let Columbia Tristar's slightly higher price tag turn you away. And if you have only seen the VHS version, you really owe it to yourself to see the widescreen version on DVD.

One word of caution. The film features Indiana Jones-like action sequences involving live pythons and cobras. It may be too intense for very young children.

3 out of 5 stars Barbara Hale ;emerging starlet.......2007-04-11

Puts on cowboy clothes to be a " woman's libber " from sexual advances and disguises herself in "drag"most of the movie. Her cowboy clothes are too baggy for any feminine sexuality to be expressed. She needed Edith Head to slim her cowboy clothes down ,ala, Jane Russell from " Son of Paleface ". Too bad for us.

3 out of 5 stars Endearing B Western.......2007-03-01

This neat little B western is typical of the sort of film that studios used to produce in quantity for kiddie consumption at Saturday matinees. When TV came along, they became the staple of Saturday morning at-home viewing.
This film has a neat, simple plot and sticks well to the basics. What raises it above others is the work of the two stars --- Robert Mitchum and Barbara Hale who both went onto much bigger careers, he in a long string of A movies (Out of the Past is only two years off) and she as the Emmy-winning Della Street on TV's Perry Mason.
Thurston Hall who had a career playing bankers, tycoons and senators gets a few laughs as Hale's father who sets out for the west on the advice of his doctor. Too bad ripe character acting like this went out of fashion. It enhances the movie considerably.
It may not be Shane or The Shootist, but it is darn entertaining.

3 out of 5 stars Mitchum's second starring role for RKO........2005-08-27

This is Mitch's follow up to Nevada, both made at RKO. Again he is teamed up with Richard Martin in his almost famous Chito Rafferty role. Also in this one is the lovely Barbara Hale, who would gain fame as Perry Mason's side kick Della Street. Hale actually steals this movie from Mitch and the others. In between Nevada and this one, a very interesting thing happened to Mitchum, similar to John Wayne's experience in Stagecoach that would propel him out of B grade Westerns and features. He was cast in a supporting role in The Story of G. I. Joe and was nominated for an Academy Award. Soon Mitch would no longer be doing oaters like this one.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars See Bob Mitchum's first starring role!.......2006-07-20

This review refers to the DVD "Nevada" from the Zane Grey series. "Nevada" is the first starring role of Robert Mitchum after he was promoted from playing the heavy in Hopalong Cassidy Westerns. He would make another B-western, "West of the Pecos" before he was promoted to "A" features.

Although Nevada looks like a B-Western (it even has Richard Martin in the role of Chito Gonzales Bustamante Rafferty, the role he would play alongside Tim Holt in the popular Tim Holt series, the plot line of "Nevada" has some elements that are not normally found in B-Westerns like those of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, or Hopalong Cassidy.

Robert Mitchum plays 'Nevada', a cowboy who isn't proud of being a "twenty-dollar-a-month cowboy". He goes to a mining town and resorts to gambling to improve his lot, and that's how he comes by his troubles. He gets framed for a murder he did not commit and while he clears his name he also helps develop the Comstock Lode. Excellent supporting role from Guinn "Big Boy" Williams and Anne Jeffreys.

Three stars.

3 out of 5 stars Mitchum's first starring role........2005-08-27

This Robert Mitchum's first feature film. RKO hired Mitch, the original king of cool, for its Cowboy freatures when Tim Holt went into the service. Interesting to Tim Holt fans will be the appearence of Richard Martin in the role that made him almost famous. Richard Martin first played Chito Jose Bustamante Gonzales Rafferty in the World War 2 movie Bombardier. He would go on to play that same character 32 times, mostly in Tim Holt Westerns. This film is his first western, however, under that character's name. He would play it one other film along side Mitchum in the West of the Pecos. The Chito Rafferty character also appeared alongside James Warren in Wanderer of the Wasteland. One wonders how a character that first appeared in a modern war flick ended up being a longtime sidekick in Westerns. It would not be until 1947 that the Rafferty character appeared alongside cowboy star Tim Holt in Wild Horse Mesa. This is not a great film but it is a fun film. It is interesting to see Mitchum in his first feature.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Rare Gypsy Rose Lee outing.......2004-12-30

Not too many people know that Gypsy Rose Lee, who virtually invented modern striptease, also essayed a career as an actress; "Belle of the Yukon" is one of the few examples. It's a pleasant, if middling, Western comedy where you can also see Dinah Shore, another personality known for her achievements in other fields than the silver screen. Gypsy Rose doesn't strip, which may disappoint some people.

2 out of 5 stars failed effort.......2003-12-29

The reason to see this is because of Gyspy Rose Lee. It's amazing. Ethel Merman looked like her mother. But she doesn't do a strip tease here. Wasn't that was she was famous for. The costumes on Gyspy are fabulous but not Dinah's. Dinah Shore said she was ashamed of her movies and I can see why. Her hair is dyed an unfitting red here too. The only highlight is when she sings Sleighride in July.
The plot handsome Randolph Scott is a man with a past but he decides to change his ways and starts a bank. Not too memorable.

4 out of 5 stars Great chance to see Gypsy Rose Lee!.......2001-02-23

Yes, its a lightweight film. Its also a great chance to see some rare footage of Gypsy Rose Lee's short film career. Randolf Scott (a handsome matinee idol in his day) is a strong veteran actor and plays his contrived role to the hilt. Don't expect plot; just enjoy the rich visual experience of this vacuous film-as-entertainment novelty feature.

3 out of 5 stars A somewhat lesser version of 'Shaolin Temple Strikes Back'. More of a comedy.......2007-04-08

While 2 totally seperate movies, 'Shaolin Temple Strikes Back' and 'War of the Shaolin Temple' are similiar in many ways in the storyline and have the same leading star. I don't know his name, but he gets a lot more screen time in this movie. Mark Long has played the senior type monk in a few movies I have seen, but this is probably his most serious role. He doesn't do too much fighting, but really shows off with his limited screen time. Chia Kai is the real star, even though his part in the movie is too brief. You may recognize him as the kung fu teacher in 'Of Cooks and Kung Fu' and 'Seven Steps of Kung Fu'. He is amazing to watch and this may be his best role ever as the drunken monk bartender teacher. His character is very similiar to Mark Long's role in 'Five Fighters From Shaolin', but I liked Chia Kai a lot more.

The story is basically about a kid on the run from an evil warlord and his army after he retrieves the Emperor's seal. Things are kind of slow going, that is until Chia Kai shows up doing his drunken bartending. Alan Chui is VERY good as the villain and the final fight is outstanding. The story has no possible chance of grabbing the attention of someone who is new to the genre, but good kung fu is all I look for. The lead star of the movie is very skilled but just doesn't look very fierce. Luckily, Mark Long and Alan Chui's screen presence make up for that. Also look for cameos by Chiang Sheng and Ricky Tien.

The sets have to be mentioned for how horrible some of them are. Some of the backrounds are really worn out but the grainy picture quality makes this a little less obvious. Plus it does add to the campiness.

    3/5

Picture quality on the Tai Seng DVD is watchable. It is full screened which really hurts it, especially during the final fight.

3 out of 5 stars Standard revenge movie.......2002-03-18

This is a pretty standard kung fu movie. The plot is your basic political intrigue mixed with monks and fighting. Nothing special there, and it isn't particularly well delivered to boot. There are a lot of holes and inconsistencies in this movie.

The action is good, but not great. The wire work was not obvious, nor was there a great deal of undercranking. The stunts and action were frequent and well done, just nothing to write home about.

This movie is wide screen anamorphic, but the video quality is not great. I guess it is as good or better than what I would expect from this period (mid 80's). The dubbing is decent, but maybe not enough crazy voices for my liking.

It was pretty easy to tell the good guys from the bad - the bad ones all wear funny hats with 2 foot raccoon tails hanging from either side. The good guys were mostly monks in white, blue, or orange. At least it was easy to follow.

The only memorable scene from the movie is the kung fu bartending done by the crazy old monk in the cave.

Overall a good movie, but you can do better.

    5 out of 5 stars shaolin strikes.......2001-09-21

I wasn't sure what to expect when i bought this movie but i surprised i picked up a classic movie filled with awesome fight
scenes great choerography wicked flipping and the ending fight scene is a showstopper the picture is very good for a old movie
and sound is great no complaints at all so pick this movie up
you will be thanking me later trust me i know good kung fu movies
i have been watching them for over 15 years know.

2 out of 5 stars Decent Older Style Chop-Sockey.......2001-08-21

This movies fight scenes are done in a common older form of choreography. Instead of a constant stream of punches and blocks, each attack is performed and then a pause occurs before the next attack begins. The Jackie Chan sequence of punches and kicks could be described as being 123456. This movie could be described more as 1-2-3-4-5-6. However the non-fighting action scenes are tremendous at times, watch for the drunken shaolin monk. The shots are long and drawn out, not a lot of jumping and cutting going on in this film, so at least the actors knew what they were doing when it came to the action. The wire work was very subtle for this film, which is a nice change from the more typically wire-heavy genre of the time.

The plot is there, although it had some jumps that were completely odd and out of place. The characterization is the most frustrating thing, you could hardly tell what type of person the main character was, he went from stalwart hero to blustering overconfident youth, to whiny wimp, etc. Even for a film like this, you didn't get much of a sense of the character.

Overall the action was fine, with a few outstanding moments, and the soft elements (plot, storyline, characterization, etc) were good enough for this genre of film.

3 out of 5 stars Decent Older Style Chop-Sockey.......2001-08-21

This DVD is done in the older fight choreography style, where the fighters throw a punch or kick and pause before throwing the next attack. So instead of a series of attacks being done in a 123456 style, it was done as 1-2-3-4-5-6. This is a common older choreography style for low budget kung fu flicks. Some of the non-fighting action is extremely good though, watch for the drunken shaolin monk. The wire work is very subtle for the most part, which is a nice change from the typical movie of this caliber and period.

The plot is very loose, and the characterization changes rapidly and without any obvious reasons. However, nobody really watches these types of films for plot or storyline, and the action is good enough to keep you interested.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith were pretty f&@!ing good in this, although they seemed to f@%$ing bicker too much like a couple of little b%$!hes. Joe Pantoliano did a sh$%@y job of overacting though(still love ya Joey).

FINAL NOTE: All the cussing in this movie wasn't neccessary.

Great movie! The second in the Bad Boys movies. Will Smith adds the comic relief parts into the movie while Martin Lawrence is the serious guy. Lots of action and excitement.
