At his best, director John Woo turns action movies into ballets of blood and bullets grounded in character drama. Face/Off marks Woo's first American film to reach the pitched level of his best Hong Kong work (Hard-Boiled). He takes a patently absurd premise--hero and villain exchange identities by literally swapping faces in science-fiction plastic surgery--and creates a double-barreled revenge film driven by the split psyches of its newly redefined characters. FBI agent Sean Archer (John Travolta) must play the villain to move through the underworld while psychotic terrorist Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) becomes a perversely paternal family man while using every tool at his disposal to destroy his nemesis. Travolta vamps Cage's tics and flamboyant excess with the grace of a dancer after his transformation from cop to criminal, while Cage plays the sullen, bottled-up agent excruciatingly trapped behind the face of the man who killed his son. His attempts to live up to the terrorist's reputation become cathartic explosions of violence that both thrill and terrify him. This is merely icing on the cake for action fans, the dramatic backbone for some of the most visceral action thrills ever. Woo fills the screen with one show-stopping set piece after another, bringing a poetic grace to the action freakout with sweeping camerawork and sophisticated editing. This marriage of melodrama and mayhem ups the ante from cops-and-robbers clichés to a conflict of near-mythic levels. --Sean Axmaker

Great Movie/Buy!.......2007-09-12
This action packed movie stars two great actors Nicolas Cage and John Travolta at their best. A great movie if you're a fan of action films, or just like either of the actors. Castor Troy (Cage) has planted a bomb somewhere and agent Sean Archer (Travolta) must literally switch identities with his old enemy in order to find out where the bomb is and disable it. I don't usually hand out 5 stars but this one definatly deserves it!

Face/Off is a great movie and will be great on HDDVD. Thank you Paramount for supporting the best high definition format!
Great action film with awesome plot twist!.......2007-08-11
This is one of my favorite action films. For its time, the concept of "face off" and how both Travolta and Cage can act so good and so evil makes this one of the best action films. Definitely will get it as soon as the HD DVD comes out!
Great action film.......2007-07-27
This is one of the best action flicks released in the last ten years. Great fun.
Don't be fooled by the reviewer giving this film one star. That prude dude must
think that watching Die Hard is a sin and should be punished as a crime.
I wish they do a great HD DVD transfer and I'll be happy.
Walked out...........2007-07-26
Yeah, Unlike the other reviewer I don't care about Travolta. This film was horrible - 100,000 bullets fired, children shot in the temple and it has the record for the most continuity errors of a film... ever. It remains the only movie I walked out of the theatre before it ended only to be tortured again at a friends watching it on video. Don't support this junk when there is real cinema available. Get your machismo-porn-violence somewhere else. This is just stupid.

TWO OF THE GREATEST FACE/OFF!!!.......2007-09-08
who doesn't like this movie. i can't believe people would give it a low rate, what the...? oh well, you can't win them all. back to the important stuff. this movie is truly a movie of greatness. two of the industries GIANTS go head to head in this action packed story. what better reason are you going to need to watch this than having john travolta and nicolas cage together. all the action and super movie was just a bonus. there couldn't have been a better idea than to make this film. travolta is one of the greatest actors ever, and this is just another huge step to achieving success. cage is another, who brings his own to this movie. he is terriffic, and knows what he's doing. this is natural to him. and the ability to change roles is what makes them two of the best in the industry. legends like these are hard to come by. the plot is they both hate each others guts, but in an attempt to save the city travolta must become cage, and vice versa, but...things do not go as planned, and all hell breaks loose. cage takes charge in travoltas' body, and nobody will believe travolta in cages'. someone must come out on top, and may the best man win.
Face/Off.......2007-07-12
Despite the grotesque, almost preposterous premise, Hong Kong director John Woo's second American-made actioner has all the savage bite, black humor, and balletic fight choreography of his best-known Asian films. Deliberately mythic in concept, "Face/Off" probes questions of honor, identity, and morality while giving Travolta and Cage plenty of leeway to stretch their archetypal good-and-evil personas. Ingenious, kinetic and reveling in its choreographed, over the top violence, "Face/Off" is a complex thriller that's bloody good fun.
Face/Off.......2007-06-08
I am a big fan of John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. both are outstanding in this twist of face..... Loved it....
One of the best action movies made.......2007-05-25
Its great but where is a special edition or directors cut?
who are these people that give films like this five stars?.......2007-05-25
I read some of these reviewers and I wonder if they are making my food at restuarants, if they are saving lives in the ER or are the ones who run right out to buy some fools CD from American Idol, or talk in superlatives about the new Snoop Dog video that was on MTV. Do they sell tires in Spokane or crawdaddies in Batan Rouge?
Face off is truly an atrocious film, from start to finish. Cage and Travolta have no on screen chemistry and it is so shallow, so utterly beneath me to even want to describe the assanine plot and utter paltry dialouge.
For years I have thought this, and will continue to until I leave this medium, but Face Off is unequivically one of the worst films ever made. Pure trash.

While fans breathlessly await the fate of the computer-animated New Adventures of Spider-Man (it remains in limbo after being dropped by MTV in 2003), they can enjoy three episodes of its first season on this disc (culled from the 13-episode two-disc set, which is a better choice for completists). Mainframe Entertainment (which created the cult Saturday morning series ReBoot) and writer/executive producer Brian Michael Bendis (the Ultimate Spider-Man comic) give the venerable story a spin by placing Peter Parker (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris) in college alongside pal Harry Osborn (Ian Ziering) and longtime crush Mary Jane Watson (singer Lisa Loeb). As usual, Parker/Spidey must conceal his secret identity while wrangling a host of foes, which are a mix of ones drawn from the comic book and brand new enemies. Spider-Man fans seem firmly divided into "for" and "against" camps over the animation, which beautifully captures Spidey's web-slinging, but often looks awkward when depicting everyday movement. --Paul Gaita

Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (2003.)
INTRODUCTION:
In recent years, I have become a fairly big fan of the Spider-Man franchise. This is due in no small part to the success of the recent live-action films and the animated series that still get heavy rotation on some channels. One of the most interesting takes on Spider-Man in an animated world was the 2003 series. Originally aired in MTV, this thirteen episode series featured something never before done in the world of Spider-Man cartoons -full-length computer animation. I never actually watched this series when it aired on MTV initially (mostly due to the fact that MTV has too many commercials), but being a Spider-Man fan, I wanted to check the series out. And I did just that. Is it one of the greatest Spider-Man cartoons ever made, or is it all style and no plot? If you want to find out, just keep on reading.
OVERVIEW:
As I stated previously, this entire series is computer animated. Essentially, the series takes place in the same Spidey universe as the films, serving as sort of a "tie-in" series between the two movies. The episodes have a wide variety of plots and characters. As far as villains go, we've got classic villains like Kingpin and the Lizard, as well as some new ones like Turbo Jet. In addition to the standard voice actor cast, the series also features a variety of guest stars, including Michael Clarke Duncan, Eve, Rob Zombie, and Keith Carradine. There are thirteen episodes total, all of which are about twenty-two minutes or so in length.
REVIEW:
I bought this DVD because I was a Spider-Man fan and for that reason alone - I had never even watched this series on MTV. It seems like animated Spider-Man shows are often hit and miss, but this one is definitely one of the hits. Not only is the animation great, but the voice acting is top notch, and the characters are three-dimensional and worthwhile. Before this, the only Spider-Man animated series that really stood out in my mind was the nineties series, but this one gives it a run for its money. The fact that this one was intended for teenage viewers on MTV rather than as a Saturday morning cartoon for kids doesn't hurt either. I have a few minor issues with this series, but nothing worth mentioning here. If you're a Spidey fan, you're not likely to be disappointed with this series.
DVD:
Sadly, the individual DVDs of this series are a bit weak. They lack any real extras. Accordingly, what I recommend you do is shell out the extra cash and get the Special Edition set, which has the entire thirteen episode series in one place, along with a ton of bonus features. This single-packaged DVDs just don't cut it.
OVERALL:
Spider-Man fans rejoice! There is finally an animated Spidey series full of the same three-dimensional character development and intrigue previously seen only in the comics. I strongly recommend this series, but do yourself a favor and get the two-disc Special Edition set that has the whole series in one place. It's a much better move.
Stellar Show.......2005-05-11
I don't know where the editorial reviewer gets their views from, but he or she should have their eyes checked. Yes, this is one of the many attempts to get you to buy the series piece-meal. Yes you should buy the two-disk full season, its better that way, and more economical. But the series is incredible. It is an excellent show, with excellent graphics, and amazing writing. The voice cast stands out also. And anyone picking on how fast he changes into his costume, should have their brain checked, its a cartoon for cying out loud.
Stick with the special edition of this series.......2004-06-05
Three episodes from the recently cancelled "Spider-Man" series aired on MTV during the summer of 2003 are presented here by Columbia/Tri-Star Home Video.
All thirteen episodes have already been made availible on the recent special edition set that included a host of extras for fans of the show. This particular reviewer found the animated series to be something of a disappointment due to the forced attempts to "hip up" the character of Peter Parker and a number of absolutely terrible villains. The animation is also a mixed bag as well -- many of the computer generated sequences of Spider-Man web-swinging over New York City are terrific, while scenes with the character (and his college friends) out of costume are far less convincing.
Don't let the new release or the cover art fool you -- these are simply episodes already offered in the special edition from earlier this year (and still availible on Amazon).
The episodes include "Spider-Man Dis-Sabled" which pits the webslinger against an assassin known as Silver Sable, as well as the two-part story that ended the series, "Mind Games, Part One" and "Mind Games, Part Two." There is some alternately entertaining sequences and terribly flawed animation to spare. Neil Patrick Harris is particularly good as the costumed hero, although the trademark "instant changes" from Peter Parker into Spider-Man might be more than a bit annoying to some (he runs down an alley in "Mind Games, Part Two" and magically changes in a burst of light from his street clothes to his red and blue costume? He jumps off a roof in "Spider-Man Dis-Sabled" as Peter Parker and, within a milisecond, swings away as Spider-Man?) The finale of the "Mind Games" two-parter was obviously a set up for season two, but the cancellation of the series will prevent that.
Fans of the series should stick to the special edition and stay away from this bare bones release.

marik is hot.......2006-12-03
reviewer-elizabeth longwood fl usa
another duel i like is marik vs yugi i think it is a very instvine duel when marik uses both weeker sides in the duel when you lose life points and prat of the body is in left in the shadows by then i think marik is creepy in that prat it was sweet when marik,s good side aploised to odin i liked it better when marik was acting as nauma i wish i can write more but i have to go oh not really cause i,m really tried
One of the most emotionally-charged battles........2005-10-22
In this set of episodes, the Battle City is down to the wire. My favorite character, Marik(not Yami Marik) is the center of the events. Most of his character is known in this set. It seemed almost if Yugi was only a side-note for a while. Even though I dislike dub, this was still good enough for me.
The scene when Marik talks to his brother for the last time (or so he thinks at that moment) is one of the most beautifully drawn of any anime I've seen. If only the voice actor sounded like Marik's age for once and kept the poignant music. And didn't use the gold stuff when someone's mind is snatched.
(And also a shame is that the Ishtars won't appear for many episodes after this with such a simple exit...)
Brings back bad memories.........2005-10-17
The episodes in Vol. 5 are some of the best out there as of now. Sure, watching Jonouchi and Kaiba duel in the last DVD was decent entertainment, but this duel's the best part!
I absolutely loved the Yami Malik vs Atemu/Yami Yugi episodes. The artwork was great, especially for Yami Malik. It's pretty weird and upsetting at the end, but overall it's a great duel. I highly reccomend this for Atemu fans and partially reccomend it for Yami Malik fans.. Heck, I'd reccomend any of the Yugioh DVDs to an Atemu fan! -_- Of course, if you really are a Yami Malik fan and you're not-so-happy about what's gonna happen, please consider Vol 2- The Darkness Returns and all the Battle City Duels volumes that take place AFTER the Rishid (Odion) vs Jonouchi duel.
Best Yu-Gi-Oh Battle!!!!!!.......2005-09-09
I love the Yugi vs. Marik battle it is the most intense and awesome battle I ever seen and in my opinion the best duel fought in the Yu-Gi-Oh series. I highly recommend this if you are a fan oy Yu-Gi-Oh!

Mai fan review.......2007-01-22
Ok since when did pokemon go out of style anyways this is all about KaibaVs. Yugi Kaiba lays it really thick on yugi uses his virus card so yugi can only use monsters under 1500 it gets real close until stupid kaiba goes on the edge of the tower threatning that if yugi attacked his weakened blue eyes the hit might be too much and he might fall off yami yugi almost had attacked the blue eyes but then yugi struggled for his celtic guardian to stop and he got scared because he was afraid that the pharoh would do anything to win even to hurt someone thats why he vowed to never duel again even though eventually he does after the shining friendship episode when tai gave him the strength he needed
Stupid Kids.......2005-04-21
After reading some of the ridiculous reviews for this DVD below, I just had to help this item out. The episodes are good. The voice acting is excellent. To be quite honest, I don't think too much of the Japanese episodes. The dialogue is way too slow and boring.
I have no idea when prebuscent kids thought they were such experts on dubbing, but trust me, the episodes aren't as bad as they claim it to be. Give it a shot and make *your* own decisions about it.
This is baaaad, nuff said........2004-03-17
Well, basically this DVD's episode starts when the othere yugi and others, are going up the castle to defeat pegasus, to get yugi's grandfather back, but steo interrcepts them and demands a duel with yugi, if yugi wins he can go on if seto wins he takes yugis starchips (which allows him to move on) and gets to advance on peagasus instead.
Okay no thats done, I can talk about diffrent things, first is that the english version is baad, the voices are terrible, well most of them anyway, they don't show their emotions very well. Second is that it's too expensive as one of the reviewers have said you can get like 30 episodes for 30-40 dollars, this thing has only 3 -_-. They changed the plot alot, which doesn't stand a chance agains't the original, they edit things out. Also this show is aimed at 'kids' like 10, 8, 12 year olds and blah, though Im thirteen, as I like to say you can't really understand someone a diffrent age unless you are their age. This is where I disagree with the other person this anime can be for anyone for any ages..only if you can understand it and if you are not disturbed with it. Most people would think, oh my god you can't watch it beacause your'e 13! but hey I've got alsmost all the original box sets so blah. Um, yeah the dvd menu is really bad and Iv'e heard there is a 'yugioh rap' I think they treid to copy this with pocket monsters (pokemon)
I seriously advise you to buy the japanese version on the internet, it's more worthy of your money.
Good, but overpriced and a horrible dub.......2004-01-16
Don't be fooled by my review title; I am literally obsessed with the show. It was this obsession of mine that led me to the original Japanese DVDs. I'd like to comment that this DVD is a ripoff. You're paying $17.95 for what, three episodes? I don't think so, EVEN though these three episodes are some of the best ones of the show. My average spending on Yu-gi-Oh DVDs is $30 for 31 episodes. This means that I've spent about $210 for 171 episodes overall. (In other words, it's about $.82 per episode, not including the two or three hour-long specials, as opposed to the $5.98 per episode you're paying for these DVDs.) Personally, if you're over fifteen, I'd recommend the original Japanese DVDs as opposed to the American ones. (Don't worry, the subtitles are good on all of the boxed sets except for the first one, which has mediocre subtitles that can be confusing since the translator was not too good. The other sets have subtitles that are much better.) With the Japanese DVDs, you get better voice acting (it sucks in the American version, you just can't tell until you've seen the original), more character development, a plot that makes more sense (yes, they chop up the plot before they send animes to America), and you get to see what happens before everyone else (I'm three or four seasons ahead of you guys. Hee hee!). If you're under fifteen, then you might want to stick with these DVDs, since the original version has more violence and cursing. (Oh no! The same smut that we see on TV everyday in a cartoon! The horror! 0_o)
Now, to the actual story. The three episodes on this DVD are some of my personal favorites and I'd recommend them to anyone who enjoys some Seto vs. Yugi duels. (Just wait one more season, guys. You don't know what you're missing.) This particular duel starts after Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters and the antagonist of the story (this season, anyway), offers Seto a deal: If Seto can defeat Yugi, he will earn the honor to duel with Pegasus and therefore have a shot at saving Mokuba, his younger brother. Seto then challenges Yugi, who accepts. The duel rages back and forth with neither side showing any mercy until Seto makes the duel dangerous and life-threatening by displaying how desperate he is to win. What happens next? Not telling! ^__^ This duel is also the introduction of Seto's ultimate monster: The Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, a monster that I love.
So, these episodes are excellent, but they are overpriced and the dub isn't as good as the original. Still, this DVD set would make an excellent addition to any Yugioh fan's collection. Whatever you decide, have fun and happy dueling! ..
If you hate Yugi like I do, this episode's for you!.......2003-11-05
I think the Yu-Gi-Oh anime is lame, and except for Kaiba(and even then, he was far more sadistic in the manga, but then again, who wasn't?), everyone is a stupid whiny cry-baby. However, sick of seeing Yugi win repeated card match after card match, I'm happy to see that the "unbeatable," game master is finally defeated, by his rival Kaiba no less! About time someone finally beat him! And not only does Kaiba take the victory, but he also severely screws with Shorty's... er, Yugi's head as well! Yay Kaiba!

Product Description
Find out which dinosaur was champion of the prehistoric world as mechanical dinosaurs meticulously constructed according to actual fossil evidence go to battle.
First, the abilities of these ancient creatures are put to the test in distinctly modern environments like Velociraptor matching movements with an ostrich on a treadmill. Then, the claws come out as Velociraptor pits his sickle-shaped talons and cat-quick speed against Ankylosaur's armor-plated hide and devastating club tail.
