The adventures of pint-sized secret agents Juni and Carmen Cortes (Daryl Sabara and Alexa Vega) continue. As Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over opens, Juni has left the spy agency and launched a career as a private detective--but when he learns that his sister Carmen has disappeared into a nefarious multi-user computer game, he agrees to go in after her, with the assistance of his grandfather (Ricardo Montalban). Three-dimensional special effects launch us into a topsy-turvy world of battling robots, souped-up motorcycle races, frogs on pogo sticks, surfing on hot lava, and much, much more. The story is even more incoherent than an actual computer game--but the movie storms along, driven by writer/director/editor/everything-else Robert Rodriguez's sheer visual enthusiasm. Featuring Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, and everyone else who appeared in the first two Spy Kids movies. --Bret Fetzer

3 out of 5 stars I guess it could be entertaining..........2007-08-22

And it's probably better than, let's say 85% of what Disney shows nowadays. It has alright characters from what I've watched and less than dazzling special effects. They were OK though, I guess.

The action is somewhat entertaining and the girls aren't over-stereotypically feminine and girly (which I liked) and it was a colorful movie.

No major complaints (didn't watch the whole movie) but wasn't blown away either.

Good for the kids.

5 out of 5 stars best kids action movie ever!.......2007-03-07

This has got to be the best kids action movie ever! I rented this movie
for a week and watched it 5 times and loved it. Believe me when you see this you are going to want to buy this like me! I have seen every one
except spy kids 2 {Island of Lost Dreams}. The basic outline of Spy Kids
Game Over is Carmon Cortez {Alexa Vega} gets stuck in a virtual reality
game trying to turn it off {to find out why you will need to watch it} and
Juni Cortez {Daryl Sabara} Must fight his way through the levels to save his sister and shut down the game at the same time. If he fails his mission,GAME OVER! I hope you will enjoy the dvd like I did!

5 out of 5 stars Spy Kids 3.......2007-02-07

The kids really loved this. We liked it too. Exciting. Nice to choose 3-D version or standard version.

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST!.......2006-09-24

IN 3D I JUMPED BACK BECUSE HIS SWORD THING CAME OUT OF THE TV! YOU NEED TO GET THIS. MY MOM JUST GOT ME ONE FOR MY OWN JUST NOW. I CAN'T WAIT THE 3-4 DAYS!

OVER ALL: YOU NEED TO GET THIS!

1 out of 5 stars KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!.......2006-08-01

KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! THIS MOVIE IS THE WORST MOVIE OF ALL, ALL, ALL, TIME SINCE THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE AND BEFORE THAT! IN THEATERS I WAS THE ONLY ONE WATCHING THAT MOVIE AND I FELT LIKE WALKING OUT!! I WANTED TO CRY :( THE ACTORS STINK ALONG WITH THE PLOT AND 3-D EFFECTS!!!

All I can say is BOOOOOOOOOO THIS MOVIE SUCKS!

Carmen and Juni Cortez will soon find out that their favorite bedtime story, "The Spies Who Fell in Love," is really the story of their parents. So begins this affable fantasy, a James Bond adventure for wee ones with all the trimmings. When Dad and Mom (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino) mess up their first mission after coming out of retirement, their kids must come to the rescue, equipped with some cool gadgets. The Cortez family gets involved in a bizarre plot hatched by a Pee-wee Herman-type entertainer named Fegan Floop (a wonderfully hammy Alan Cumming) that's as giddy as it is ridiculous. Needless to say there is plenty of derring-do concerning long-lost uncles, goofy monsters, double agents, evil robots, look-alikes, and energized chases. Did we mention the gadgets? Although Banderas and Gugino make terrific impressions, the movie is carried (as it should be) by the younger Cortezes, winningly played by Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara. Who would have thought an action/horror studio (Dimension) and writer-director Robert Rodriguez had this pleasing family film up their sleeves? Rodriquez (who produced with his wife Elizabeth Avellán) seemed to be mired in cheesy horror films but here breaks out by capitalizing on the talent that gave him instant status with his debut, El Mariachi (1992). Spy Kids has plenty of verve but never swerves into potty humor (OK, there is one good potty joke) or wicked gunplay. All 7-year-olds should have a film as fun as this in their movie-going lives. --Doug Thomas

5 out of 5 stars this movie is great!!!.......2005-11-25

but why did everyone else copy it? there's been like 3 movies that copied it! like:
1.agent cody banks
2.catch that kid
3.incredibles
yes the incredibles copied it. the WHOLE story!! i don't know why they did that? can't they leave movies alone? like shrek was copied with monsters inc. and ice age! i'm getting tired of that at least madagascar is original.

5 out of 5 stars Good movie for age appropiate children.......2005-09-29

Action packed and fun to watch. My kids loved it.

5 out of 5 stars Great kids movie.......2005-09-25

This movie is full of action, adventure and creative characters without being violent and scary. My two boys loved it. It was loads of fun for my husband and I as well as there is plenty of comedy that transends generations. We have seen Spy Kids 2 as well but can't reccomend it as it contains more violence and the characters were pretty scary.

This delightful sequel to Spy Kids demonstrates once again writer-director Robert Rodriguez's remarkable gift for wild invention. Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) are now regular operatives for a spy agency, but a couple of rival spy kids are making their lives difficult. When an important gadget gets stolen, Juni gets blamed and loses his job--but Carmen hacks into the agency computer, reinstates him, and sends them off on a high-security mission to a mysterious island to clear the boy's name. The pace is zippy, every situation is crammed with dazzling eye-candy, and the cast is great--Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino return as the kids' parents, Steve Buscemi plays a crackpot scientist, and Ricardo Montalban comes in as the kids' grandfather. Fans of the classic Sinbad adventure movies will particularly enjoy the elaborate creatures that Carmen and Juni battle on the island. Pure fun. --Bret Fetzer

We all enjoyed Spy Kids, Spy Kids2 and Spy Kids 3D. They are good family movies that we all can watch.

3 out of 5 stars I spy with my blue eye..........2007-06-16

Pint-sized OSS Junior agents, sister and brother Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) Cortez, are back for another spirited adventure in Spy Kids 2. Their newest and most dangerous mission takes them to a mysterious, hidden volcanic island where they meet a reclusive genetic scientist (Steve Buscemi) and his bizarre Noah's Ark of hybrid creatures which include the cat-fish, the bull-frog, and the Spork (sparrow / pork). Hot on their heels, eager to solve the mystery on the island and stop the world's imminent destruction first, are Carmen and Juni's rivals from OSS Junior, Gary (Matt O'Leary) and Gerti (Emily Osment) Giggles.

As the four kids head right into a perilous trap that could make them disappear forever, super spies Mom and Dad Cortez (Carla Gugino, Antonio Banderas) go after them, and their spy grandparents - "retired, but not tired" - played by Ricardo Montalban and Holland Taylor, round out the rescue party. But with their gadgets, gizmos and genetics, the Cortez kids don't need rescuing... or so they think.

Writer, director, editor, production designer, director of photography, re-recording mixer and composer (!) Robert Rodriguez has done something very unusual here: he's topped the popular original. Spy Kids 2 has a better plot, cooler special effects, and even more adventure than Spy Kids 1. It helps that all the same actors are back to play these likable characters, and Rodriguez was smart enough to add just enough new ones. Grandpa Cortez, in his high-tech wheelchair, is a not only a great role model, he's portrayed by the ideal actor for the role. The Giggles kids are perfectly annoying, and there's also a cavalcade of consistently cool character actors - Bucemi, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Bill Paxton, Mike Judge - that are sure to delight with their quirky portrayals.

The gadgets, such as the Dragon-Spy sub, the satellite linked watches that do everything but tell time, and the rocket powered hover shoes, are lots of fun, but it's the Ray Harryhausen-inspired creatures, mythic beasts and sword-fighting skeletons which are the most entertaining. Rodriguez walks the fine line of respecting without ripping off.

I guess it's not top secret; I heartily recommend that you treat the kids - or the kid in you - to Spy Kids 2 on the special edition DVD.

5 out of 5 stars spy kids 2.......2007-02-06

My daughter loves it, she is six and loves action kids movies. It is even entertaining enough for adults.

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst movies ever made.......2006-09-05

This movie is horrible. I even found the terror that was Jaws: the Revenge better than this. I'll list some of the things that made this movie bad.
1. The acting was horrible
2. the special effect were even worse than the acting
3. The kids were smarter than the adults (thats how you know its a corny kids movie)
4. The jokes fell flat every singal time
5. The script was horrible
6. 95% of the movie you could tell was on a blue screen
I know they were targeting this movie for younger audiences but get real I've seen alot of family movies that both kids, teenagers, and adults can enjoy. I felt tortured threw this entire movie. I was Praying that it would end and I could leave. Don't buy this movie. Hell don't even rent it. Its just that bad.

5 out of 5 stars Great HD Movie excellently cast.......2006-08-18

The first thing I noticed when watching the movie was the excellent picture quality - it was 'filmed' in High Definition.

Apart from really enjoying the movie (I haven't seen Spy Kids 1 or 3), I found the audio commentary by Robert Rodriguez fantastic. So much so, I plan on buying the DVD, just so I can listen to this again (I borrowed the DVD from our local library).

What a talented and imaginative man Robert Rodriguez is. I also found that alot of his comments are also appropriate in many other areas of ones life, and they don't only relate to the movie industry.

The DVD contains a lot of extra special features and I found them most interesting.

In summary it was a really enjoyable movie, and the special features were superb.

The term suspension of disbelief was invented for the idea that Ryan Phillippe could be a computer genius. As Milo, a slacker brainiac recruited by smilingly ominous software giant Gary Winston (Tim Robbins) to help build a global communications system, Phillippe still looks like a million bucks. He is also still doing the clenched, pouty grown-up voice that he always uses to show that he means business in this acting stuff (he's nothing if not earnest), and a pair of designer glasses completes the transformation. He's well matched in Antitrust by Claire Forlani, who, in turn, spends time pursing her lips and squinting her dewy eyes as Milo's troubled girlfriend, an artist who proves to be a liability when Milo discovers that Winston is killing off clever competitors like a dot-com führer. Robbins, looking like David Letterman, seems willing to either take his role dead seriously or goof around a bit, but director Peter Howitt doesn't know how to play any of it (the actor was better used as a grinning madman in another flawed paranoid thriller, the underseen Arlington Road). Without any underlying menace or enough satirical bite to keep it interesting, the whole thing slips by passively in a mindless matinee kind of way until the over-the-top finale. Production designer Catherine Hardwicke has had some big, glossy fun creating Winston's campus and ornate private kingdom, and there's the cheapest of kicks in seeing Robbins's Bill Gates taken down publicly, but the film is definitely junior league. --Steve Wiecking

4 out of 5 stars One of my favorites.......2007-08-03

This movie is on this list as one of my favorite "geek" movies. What I mean by that is, that it's about computers, coding and generally geeky stuff. However, this movie is likable by even non-geeks. My girlfriend watches this movie whenever I decide to pop it in and watch in. She likes it too... A good movie all around. Great acting, good geeky story plot and great actors/actresses.

I remember that I lost this DVD a couple of years ago and ended up buying a completely new copy because I still watch it even today.

Other movies like this or similar by nature (that provide elements of geekiness in them) that I like are:

Pirates of Silicon Valley (start of the computer geek)
Matrix (hey, hackers, computers and sci-fi!)
Revolution OS (Documentary)
Grandma's Boy (game geeks)
Hackers (come on, it's lame but still fun to watch)

3 out of 5 stars Antitrust.......2007-03-02

The problem stated up front: the film isn't frightening enough. The film isn't frightening enough mainly because the lead character, Milo--played by Ryan Phillippe--never seems to be in mortal danger. And no matter what sinister mess the star of the show may find him or herself snarled up in--if the stakes aren't high enough, to the point where the hero looks seriously in trouble of surviving, you have what is ultimately a minor-league thriller.

This is a story of a computer whiz who signs on as the new Golden Boy of a software company called NURV, owned by Gary Winston (Tim Robbins giving a very strong performance), who has brazenly set a target-date for the unveiling of a revolutionary new communications system for PCs, handhelds, etc.--sort of a Unified Field breakthrough for worldwide chat--that will make him very wealthy. If the system, SYNAPSE, doesn't work on time, Winston is a joke. Milo, boy genius, must get all the worst bugs out of Gary Winston's brain-child before time runs out, but just as he's settling in--and getting the red-carpet treatment from everyone at the firm, including the resident Ice Queen, Lisa (Rachel Leigh Cook)--he's thrown a bit of a curve: Gary Winston keeps providing him with mysterious computer discs, full of radical new code, that will help Milo make the big breakthroughs. Milo can't make sense of it; if he's the big saviour, where's all the brilliant code coming from? His boss's smarmy shell cracks when Milo asks questions, and Milo gets a face full of a Gary Winston paranoid tantrum, his first clue that his ambitious employer is not the nice guy he seems to be.

But how far would Gary Winston go to get what he wants? Is he procuring other programmers' code illegally, and if so, how? Milo starts to deduce pieces of the truth that suggest coincidences aren' t always coincidences, and then someone close to him suffers a senseless tragedy. Coincidence? A shocked Milo enlists the aid of his girlfriend Alice (Claire Forlani), and even some old buddies he snubbed earlier in the film merely by going to work for supreme capitalist, to subvert all the cutting-edge security features at NURV, and even in Winston's home, to find out the real truth about the people he works for. Along the way, Milo discovers he may have more hidden enemies than he thought.

That's the tense summary of the plot...now let me list all the things that sabotage the thrills:

Except for Tim Robbins, none of the bad guys are very scary. Robbins's main henchman is the guy who played Doctor Tom in Ed Wood (friendly face, nerdy-looking (sorry, fella), practically bald, calm throughout).

Ryan Phillippe's character always seems to be one step ahead of the bad guys, certainly once he gets a whiff of what's really going on. He pulls various clever tricks that allow him to move about areas of NURV that would normally be off-limits, and even when the bad guys know what he's up to, Milo KNOWS they know, but they allow him some leeway, because of course Gary Winston still needs SYNAPSE completed. This creates a very interesting cat-and-mouse game but it seriously destroys any real threat to Milo, certainly for the bulk of the story. It feels like a game. It doesn't feel like anyone is ever going to just appear out of the shadows and point a gun in Milo's face and get rid of him, or even put a bomb in his desk-drawer.

There's no grime in this film. Everything's polished, neat, shiny, pristine, new-looking, sanitized, orderly, whatever. There's no dirt anywhere; even the nightly shadows of NURV seem disinfected. I would argue that, on a psychological level, a thriller needs some dirt, some blurriness, some clutter, a back alley with some piles of rubbish thugs can hide behind. This film's director seems to like things neat and stainless-steely and nonthreatening (see also Johnny English). Thrillers need some dirt, and some unidentified shapes tucked in the shadows.

Finally--as I've alluded to already--though there are chase scenes, Milo-hiding scenes, Milo in danger of being deliberately fed Sesame seeds scenes (he's fatally allergic), Milo afraid to trust someone scenes--the truth is, Milo usually knows when he is in danger before danger has a chance to strike. And the one time he's caught totally by surprise, he makes an ally.

I think Claire Forlani is a most beautiful actress, and she, along with everyone else in the film, gives a strong performance. This film even features an uncredited appearance by one of my favourite actors, David Clennon (he played the creepy boss in ThirtySomething, appeared as slimey "Radio Doctor" Norris Breeze in an episode of WKRP In Cincinnati, appears in John Carpenter's The Thing and Being There, and, uh, an episode of Sledge Hammer!), but he's barely in it--strange! The whole film is strangely watchable, despite the fact that it is never as thrilling as it could have been.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic triller.......2007-01-25

Watching this film will change your life. It's a fantstic thriller, with a few good scares in there too. The gorgeous Ryan Phillipe stars as Milo, a computer genius.

The story unfolds as milo, starts a job in a exclusive computer company.
All is not as it seems in this brilliant company, as Milo's life gets turned upside down.

Recommended for everybody.

3 out of 5 stars A quality film with a good young cast........2006-11-17

Featuring an awesome young cast and the legendary Tim Robbins, this is an exciting cyber-thriller that will have you thinking one thing then surprise you with another twist. While the story may seem unbelievable, it is quality viewing, and anyone who likes a good thriller will have no trouble sitting through it. Still good to watch even after the first time, a good DVD to add to anyone's collection. Will appeal mostly to teenagers and young adults, it will stand up to the tests of time.

3 out of 5 stars Danger from Monopoly.......2006-10-08

Will "Synapse" be launched on schedule? Yes. They will do whatever it takes. The start of the film suggests a few graduate students with little money, experience, and connections can create successful software today. Do they know their customer's needs? There isn't much of a market for shareware anymore. Software comes bundled with computers, and most users don't care. (Unless paid advertising can change their minds.)

Milo shows up at NURV to begin work. Their office is "open", which can create interruptions that affect productivity. One TV news item tells of a competitor who is killed in a car crash; drugs were found in his system. Milo is impressed by some code and wonders where it came from; Gary Winston flies off the handle at this question. Highly sensitive? There is a mysterious attack on a friend of Milo's. Teddy had been close to an exciting discovery! Milo finds that a fiberglass cable allowed spying on Teddy. Who did it?

Milo reports his lost badge; this allows him entry to security, and a chance to snoop into the system. Soon Milo starts acting like a detective. He finds a system that contains private information on many of his friends. How can a powerful corporation arrange to hire criminals? What if they can also influence the Department of Justice? Research show how NURV is connected with major corporations. [Does this remind you of "Big Brother" in Orwell's 1984?] Wearing a tuxedo, Milo manages to find some IP addresses from Gary's private system. But Milo is suspected, and they plot his demise: Milo has an allergy and can suffer anaphylactic shock! So what is in that meal? Milo "borrows" a server to expose the conspiracy; he gets away with it! But his company car is bugged so they can follow him! Action and conflict follow, with more surprises.

Reviews aren't supposed to give away the ending, but we know the good guys must win in the end. "The Net" was a much better film, this one seems like another version. A work of fiction can guarantee a happy ending. We know what is happening in the real world. The film ends on a false claim. The coding created by anyone does not become "open code" by saying so. This statement is not made about any other work product, like a loaf of bread.

Back in August 1994 I saw a TV news item that showed "Gary Winston" and "White House Bill" meeting for a golf date. Each carried an identical gym bag to their golf cart. At the end they each carried away one of the identical gym bags. Afterwards the Department of Justice dropped its antitrust investigation. How many $100 bills could fit into one of those gym bags?

5 out of 5 stars fantastic 3D, and not a bad movie too.......2007-03-29

I already had this movie on DVD but the normal red/blue glasses 3D version - it was really hard on the eyes. Being a 3D fan and reading the other reviews here which mentioned the 3D quality was fantastic, I just had to give it a try. I'm glad I did too. The 3D quality is fantastic.

I really only wanted to post here for one reason though and that was to mention a technical issue for PAL users which I came across which might be a stumbling block for some people. The DVD uses shutter glasses to alternate between different fields of a frame. On the first DVD player I tried (my main one), it only outputs the video in PAL doing a realtime conversion from NTSC to PAL. Since NTSC was 60 fields/second and PAL 50 fields/second, the 3D effect is lost totally and it becomes a normal 2D movie. It wasn't until I played it on my other player which I set explicitly to play back in either NTSC or PAL60 did the 3D kick in. The movie has a test section on the DVD and if you can only see either the left or right (I saw the left only) then that is the reason. Switch your DVD player to either NTSC or PAL60 and see 3D in perfection!!!

5 out of 5 stars Spy Kids 3-D GAME OVER ROCKS!!!!.......2006-12-11

I just noticed that Carmen has dissapeared inside a game called"Game Over" and trapped within Level 4 by The Toymaker. Her 12 year old brother Juni came in to rescue her.But the coolest part is Carmen big claw(I'ts robot like and the metal is pink:It gone tons of cool pink wires and tubes) came out of the T.V! I's Mad Cool! Plus, Alexa Vega sings this video game like song is called:"Game Over" I got the lyrics! Here's how it goes:
Toymaker:Game Over. There are no rules in this game, except win at any costs.
    (Guitar Intro)
Alexa:The Time has Come, once and for all. You met'your match, you will fall. This little game we play is gonna break us down, only one of us can wear the crown.I'ts not easy as you thought it be' when it's down to you versus me.
(Bridge) I play rough,I don't need to try, You like to play mean but the score never lies.
    (Chorus)Game Over,Game Over,Game Over, for now
Winning the game the only rule allowed No moral up, or cheers from the crowed. When the game began you never thought you lose' but you're time is up I play to bruise Look around you find you lost you're tried you're best but you ran ou of steam
(Bridge)Iplay rough,I don't need to try,You like to play mean but the score never lies.
You're all out of wishes kiss you're dreams goodbye ends the same It's not whether you woin or lose it's(spoken)how you play the game
    (Chorus)Game Over,Game Over,Game Over,for now
(Guitar Intro)(it's that all you got?)(c'mon)(uh uh)(Bring it on!)
    (Chorus)Game Over,Game Over,Game Over,Game Over, for now.
    Game Over
Do you like it? I hope you do.This Spy KIds 3-D Game Over Movie Rocks!

    4 out of 5 stars Movie O.K., 3-D Excellent!.......2006-02-25

I was never a fan of Spy Kids 3D as a movie, but the quality of the 3D (If you have HQFS) is amazing. Fantastic colors and the images do pop out quite nicely. Recomended for anyone with a High Quality Field Sequencial viewing system.

3 out of 5 stars High quality 3-D, poor DVD authoring.......2005-09-28

Finally, a major studio film released in HQFS (High Quality Field Sequential)! HQFS uses electronic shutter glasses instead of inferior red-blue anaglyph. The result is an outstanding picture. The 3-D is great, combining live action and CGI for terrific depth. This is how movies should be made!

Unfortunately, the HQFS release is just plain shoddy. The anamorphic 1.85:1 film was squeezed on the disc in 4:3 full frame television format making everything look too skinny. There is no way to play it on a regular 4:3 television in letterbox format as is normally done with widescreen films. It should play fine on a new widescreen 16:9 set though.

In addition, the disc strangely includes none of the bonus features found on the 2-D and 3-D anaglyph DVD releases. Why? It would have cost no more to include them, and considering that the HQFS version retails for 50% more than the others is really hard to understand.

The producers of this disc are to be congratulated for making this movie available to the small, but growing number of home 3-D video enthusiasts, but should really have done a better job.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Movie In The World!!!.......2006-07-21

This movie was great. All my cousins and I love it. It is like Monty Python meets James Bond.

5 out of 5 stars Power Rangers, eat your heart out!! Sid & Marty Krofft would be proud!.......2006-03-18

First of all this is not a high budget, Hollywood feature film, by any means. But, if your looking for something, that's just plain fun to watch, when you don't have the time to watch some long drawn out Hollywood film, then this is definitely an enjoyable option.
When ever My wife and I have company over and there's children in tow, I almost always throw the Agent 12 DVD in. The neighborhood children have come over countless times asking if they could watch Agent 12 again. They all ask when the 3rd installment to the series will be out. (Will there be another?)
I guess what I like most about the Agent 12 series is the 'light-heartedness' in the Agent 12's script. Who ever did the screenplay isn't untalented at all, especially with all of the catchy one-liners and my favorite, the sign on the door leading to Dr. Evil's Giant Robot's cockpit, "Do Not Disturb, Plotting Evil". The sound editing is a big plus in these amatuer, short films. If, I remember right, wasn't that sound effect, when Agent 12's Rocket car made a quick turn, taken from the Flinstone's cartoons, when old Fred did the same in his stone car? Someone definitely has a very fun sense of humor!
As far as the production style, it's very reminiscent of the old Sid & Marty Krofft TV shows on Saturday morning television when I was a kid, except with better special effects. Remember, the Bugaloos, Wonderbug, Far Out Space Nuts, Sigmond and the Sea Monsters, H.R. Puffinstuff?
I guess another reason I liked these (2) movies so much is that, in a way I was a little jealous, all the while being proud of the kids who put these amazing productions together. When I was a kid, we use to try and make action films using our dad's state-of-the-art black & white video camera. The kind where you'd take a picture of your friend, stop the tripod mounted camera, have your friend step out of the camera's view and then restart the camera. Viola!! Poof he disapeared as if it were magic. Only problem was, the static in between takes. We made some pretty cool movies, if you could imagine the static not being there. Then you see these Agent 12 amatuer short films, with green screen effects, computer editing, along with a full musical score and all kinds of Hollywood sound effects, not to mention all of the fiery explosions. Sure, the kids aren't going to win any academy awards, but considering their ages (12'ish I would guess), they did a pretty darn good job overall.
So, compared to a Big-budgeted Hollywood film like the Matrix, X-Men or Star Wars, and that's the only type of movies you can appreciate, take Michael Wolfson's opinion of this movie. If your just looking for some good old fashion, home grown, award winning short movies, packed with action and fun then give Agent 12 a viewing, especially if you have kids to entertain. Haven't met a kid (4-18) yet that hasn't just loved the Agent 12 series. Considering the final product and what the producer had to work with, I have to give it (5) Stars.

      Happy viewing

5 out of 5 stars An Impressive Bang For The Budget .......2005-11-27

I thoroughly enjoyed this. No, the acting is not perfect and the story is rote. By that metric, AGENT 12 is on a par with most Hollywood pictures. What you get here is a home grown production of impressive quality that exudes the love, energy, and daring of an independent film maker.

The special effects achieved in months on a shoestring budget would have been the envy of major studios just twenty years ago. They easily best multimillion dollar television serials of the 90s that used similar techniques, like Power Rangers.

If you endured feature-length projects like Spy Kids that garnered tepid reviews, you might as well give these flicks a try. If you buy the DVD, at worst you'll be handing more of your money to the actual artist.

4 out of 5 stars Good, clean fun!!!.......2005-09-24

Having seen both of the movies included on this DVD, I can honestly say that both of them are nothing short of a labor of love from Bob Forward. Yes, the acting may be lacking, but given the ages of the actors, what were you expecting? Sit back, relax, laugh a little, have a good time!!!

3 out of 5 stars Exciting, cheesy, 50's style serial fun!.......2005-09-20

You've got to dig the concept: In a world ran exclusively by 12 years old, you need a savior, a super secret agent with total disregard for public property. That man (maybe I should say teenager) is Agent 12.

Agent 12 is part of the ever growing trend of home grown independant films. Director Bob Forward takes what he has: a bunch of kids - his own and his neighbor's, their karate instructor, a little knowledge of pyrotechnics and an undying love of the 50's style serial, James Bond movies and old "puppet" series like the Thunderbird and serves an amazing little spectacle filled with action, explosions and plenty of nods to the show we adults grew up on (an interesting slant considering the show deals with kids ruling the world).

While he does not have a Hollywood budget to play around, the director and his small cast make up for it in enthusiasm, cleverness and an amazing array of death defying situations.

It is obvious that all involved were (quite literally in some cases) having a blast!

The acting goes from average (we are talking kids after all) to very good (considering none of them are professionals) and they pull it off convincingly for the most part. The special effects are impressive, going from the numerous explosions to extensive model work, including jet pack rockets, exploding missile and Evil 12 years old genius underground base.

The special effects are decent to excellent, good being the average and director Bob Forward exhibits a sure hand behind the camera. The films are well edited, quick paced, filled with humor and a good time will be had by all if you switch the "Hollywood gloss" switch to off and have fun watching a bunch of kids have fun too...

      Good cheesy fun!

      3.5 Stars in my book.

5 out of 5 stars A spy movie for kids that actually teaches the Bible.......2006-08-28

RSTC is possibly one of the most unique films for kids I have seen in a long time. It's not preachy but you can't watch the movie without taking the scripture out of it. A lot of Christian films for kids will have a scriptural principle that is taught, and then at the end maybe they'll teach the verse it came from. RSTC is different: you watch Liz go through a trying experience and the only way she can get through it is to use the scripture that is taught in the movie. I have several friends whose kids have watched this movie over and over again, and they love it every time. And I can't help but think that when they get into a situation where they are afraid, they'll know that "God has not given me a spirit of fear!"

5 out of 5 stars This movie is a great movie with good moral values for younger children and even adults!.......2006-07-21

Having grown up as a preacher's daughter, and having watched christian movies my entire life, I am excited there is a blockbuster quality movie that will still teach the important lesson of I Timothy 1:7 to all ages. Without being too "preachy" it gives kids hip role models to look up to. I wish this movie had been out when I was younger. It would have been cool to think that there is a secret society that is out there that I could join as a christian young person. I am sure in my younger years I would have been much more excited to go to church after seeing this movie! RSTC has the excitement of "Spy Kids" with the morals of "Veggie Tales". I have bought a copy for all my nieces and nephews and a copy for my husband and myself. Forget all your ideas on christian movies and WATCH THIS FILM!!
