The classic Impossible Missions Force lineup made its debut in Mission: Impossible's sophomore season (1967-1968), which is preserved in this essential set for classic TV fans. Gone was Steven Hill as Dan Briggs, and in his place the supremely confident and smooth Peter Graves as new team leader Jim Phelps, whom most viewers identify with the series. Carrying out the missions assigned from a pre-recorded voice on the self-destroying tape recorder was magician and master of disguise Rollin Hand (Martin Landau, who moved up from guest star to regular cast member with this season), top model Cinnamon Carter (Landau's real-life spouse Barbara Bain, who won three Emmys for her work on the show), electronics genius Barney Collier (Greg Morris), and all-purpose strong man Willie Armitage (body builder-turned-actor Peter Lupus). Among the 25 adventures carried out in this seven-disc set: "The Seal," in which the IMF uses a trained cat to assist in the recovery from an important statue from thief Darren McGavin; "The Town," with Phelps discovering that Communists have overrun an entire hamlet; and "The Slave," in which the team tangle with a Middle Eastern slavery ring. Guest stars include Anthony Zerbe, Paul Winfield, Fritz Weaver, and Sid Haig, but it's the team itself that shines the brightest, especially Landau and Bain, who exude the breezy charm of the series itself (though both would depart the show by the following season). Sadly, the second season set includes no extras. -- Paul Gaita
Product Description
The head of the "Impossible Missions Force", a top-secret government group of operatives, starts a tape recorder and finds out about his latest assignment. Throughout most of the series, they would have to stop some petty dictator or powerful bad guy from whatever evil plot they had against the U.S. or Democracy in general. The elaborate use of electronic gadgetry, masters of disguise and detailed plans that require split-second timing made this tv show an "on the edge of your seater"!

Fantastic! The original series was much better than the movies with Tom Cruise. I would recommend it to anyone who love adventure and spy movies. I am thoroughly enjoying all of these episodes.

mission possible.......2007-08-27
well, i know that's a cliche. i have parents who are senior citizens. they are young enough that they know how to work a dvd player (well, sometimes), but old enough that they don't like all of the sexual references in todays tv. i am always in a quandry about what to buy them for birthdays, etc. i bought season one of mission impossible for them last year for christmas. they absolutely loved it. they watch one episode every night (if they try to watch two, they fall asleep before the second one is over). i prefer gilmore girls and veronica mars and friends (of which i can watch an entire season in a weekend and not fall asleep). anyway, this was a top notch show, and they loved it as a gift. of course, they aren't too high tech, and don't look for bonus features, so i don't relly know about the bonus features. but, i am eagerly awaiting a season 3 on dvd, so i'll have something for this christmas!! and let me say - these guys are way more believable than tom cruise.

Season Three-When Mission: Impossible Reached Its Peak.......2007-09-11
It was in season 3 that the show reached it peak. One outstanding episode after another. And what is really remarkable was that this was in the midst of a major behind-the-scenes power struggle that could have destroyed the series. The original pair that wrote many of the scripts and basically determined which ideas would be used were William Read Woodfield and Alan Balter. However, in the middle of the filming of the third season, they got into a major confrontation with series creator Bruce Geller and abruptly left the show which was in the midst of production without any scripts for upcoming shows. In a panic, the writer Paul Playdon, a young writer only in his 20's came on board and cranked out a series of really outstanding stories and supervised others which were written by other writers. Playdon's stories often (but not always) use a lot of fancy gadgetry which I like. This is seen in episodes like "The Bunker" and "The Glass Cage". On the other hand, his most cerebral episode, "The Mind of Stefan Miklos", has no action and no gadgetry and yet is one of the finest hours of television ever produced with some outstanding acting by Martin Landau and guest star Steve Ihnat. In this one, the viewer is challenged to pay especially close attention to the plot and to understand what is going on.
"The Glass Cage" has a political prisoner locked in a glass cage which is surrounded 24 hours a day by guards, television monitors, an electric floor and alarms, but the IMF has to get this prisoner out. As you watch it, the viewer keeps asking himself "how the heck are they going to pull this one off!". For the more morbid viewers out there, in "The Execution", the MI producers were given access to the actual gas chamber used to execute criminals in the state of California of the time and they built an exact duplicate showing how it worked.
Buy this DVD and prepare yourself for some of the finest entertainment ever made by Hollywood. I'll just leave you with some cryptic words :
"January Suborbital Denomination!".
More of a great series.......2007-09-09
Well, here we are again with the third installment from the original Mission Impossible. This is the final season for Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. They will be replaced with Leonard Nimoy in the fourth season.
Lots of good episodes here, including my favorite, "The Execution". The theme is the same as for the previous seasons. Jim gets a secret mission, selects and briefs his team (although we don't get every detail so there are always surprises), and then they go out and roust the bad guy. Most of these are credible and believable. Once in a while there is an episode which stretches reality. All are entertaining to watch, and the hour-long show is just about right, time wise.
This set will be out in November and I'm looking forward to it with great anticipation. To date there are no extras on the DVD's and I imagine this one will follow suite. Still, the picture is sharp and clear and the audio track is reasonable (remember, these are from the 60's).
Once again, if you've never seen one of the television episodes and only know Mission Impossible from the Tom Cruise movies, do yourself a great favor and buy or rent one of the sets. All are good. Many, many evenings of entertainment value for the whole family here.

SEASON 3 - THE FINAL SEASON FOR BOTH LANDAU & BAIN.......2007-08-23
It is sad that this will be the last season for both Martin Landau (Rollin' Hand) & Barbara Bain (Cinnamon Carter). It is said that they were not getting paid enough money, so they both left the show at the end of Season 3. Leonard Nimoy must have taken both their shares as he stepped in to try to fill the shoes of both characters...This will be the last season I buy.
This dvd will not self destruct in 5 seconds.......2007-08-20
After getting and watching both seasons 1 and 2, I am looking forward to season 3. These show were great back in the day and still hold up well today. Do not look for the wild action, over the top explosions or extreme violence as a similarly titled movie and sequels. The idea is to use stealth and cunning to undermine the bad guy. Never using overt methods to win the day, the plots are complicated but just a heck of alot of fun. Do not pass this by.
Mission Impossible - THE BEST OF THE BEST..........2007-08-17
Hi folks, just to let you know that I have aleady pre-ordered Season 3. Seasons 1 & 2, I just received this morning. You can trust Amazon.com with fast and reliable delivery, even though I live in Canada!
I look forward very much to viewing Season 3 which would come prior to Christmas time, and with nothing much to do since I have retired. Season 3 will provide me with nights of good entertainment and nostalgia of the good old days of 1960s. I was then in my twenties and actively raising a family. My children together with my late grand uncle and his family would drop by on every Saturday evening and watch Mission Impossible together with much joy and great anticipation. Of course, we thoroughly enjoy this weekly TV show. I still enjoy listening particularly to the stirring theme song! Then our TV was only in black-and-white as color television was not yet introduced in Malaysia! My family and my grand uncle's family definitely had a great time watching this weekly episode. He was also my fishing buddy. Too bad he wasn't around anymore to share the same thrill and relive the old times together...! With tears in my eyes I remember him when I watch Mission Impossible.
I hope in Season 3 onwards, Paramount Studios would introduce some bonus features regarding this most popular TV series. An inclusion of an interview with Peter Graves, Martin Landu, Barbara Bain, Peter Lupus and Greg Morris would be great and eargerly sought after by MI fans worldwide. So how about that dear Paramount Studios? Well...MI fans I hope you would also order Season 3 soon so that your Christmas this year would have more joy, excitement and color. All the best to all of you from me - Western Canada. Remain in good health to watch the entire series folks. Cheers & goodbye for now.

Amazing Video and Audio Quality - Killer Movies!.......2007-06-12
This was the first thing I bought to play on my Blu-ray player. Over 20 movies later, and it still holds up. You haven't seen these movies until you see them on Blu-ray - it's as simple as that.
Great Film, Great collection - Average blu ray picture.......2007-06-10
These films are great to watch but don't rush out to get them on blu ray as there is only minimal difference between the blu ray version in quality to the standard dvd.
Film 8/10
Picture 3/10
Sound 7/10
MI BluRay.......2007-05-17
If you have a Hi-Def TV and you don't have a Blu-Ray player
you have no idea what your TV can do! This Mission Impossible movie set shows you why the Panavision cameras and lenses used to film movies cost over a quarter million dollars each and the Kodak film used in them cost well over a thousand dollars a roll. The blu-ray Panasonic DMP-BD10 - Blu-Ray disc player - upscaling images from this player I bought from Amazon are simply stunning! And this is a top notch action movie set.
Good package.......2007-02-20
For the fun of the series this is a must. Although MI III was not what I anticipated ( I reviewed this movie seperatelly) the other two movies make up for it. Great high definition picture and sound they actually make the films even better. The fifth star is lost due to MI III but even so the set is definatelly worth buying and enjoying.
Best way to get a Blu-ray library started!.......2007-02-07
This is a great collection of action movies that every DVD collector needs to have on Blu-Ray. High definition only adds to the enjoyment of these films and with the price at only $69.95 it is one of the cheapest ways to get a bunch of blu-rays fast. Being that this is the first box set released to Blu-ray, it makes me very excited for other boxsets to appear in the future. This one packs plenty of bang for your buck. Great transfers, soundtracks and tons of extras make this one a four-star box set.

With its combination of Cold War villains and James Bond-like techno-gadgets, Mission: Impossible was an instant hit when it premiered on September 17, 1966. Airing Saturday nights at 9:00 on CBS, the series was the brainchild of creator/producer Bruce Geller, whose formula for seven successful seasons included a well-chosen ensemble cast, noteworthy guest stars, and a flexible premise that inspired clever plots twists and a constant variety of "international" locations (mostly filmed on a studio backlot). This seven-disc set includes all 28 episodes of season 1, the only season to feature Steven Hill as Dan Briggs, leader of the top-secret counterintelligence team known as Impossible Missions Force (IMF). As the no-nonsense Briggs, Hill (better known for his later role on Law & Order from 1990 to 2000) began each episode by sneakily retrieving the dossier and recorded instructions (voiced throughout the entire series by uncredited actor Bob Johnson) for the IMF's latest assignment. "Your mission, should you decide to accept it" and "this recording will self-destruct in five seconds" quickly became pop-cultural catch-phrases, as Briggs routinely selected his preferred teammates based on their mastery of practical skills. With "special appearance" billing for M:I's first three seasons, Martin Landau played master-of-disguise Rollin Hand; his off-screen wife, Barbara Bain, played top-model and undercover seductress Cinnamon Carter; Greg Morris brought hip coolness (and racial diversity) to his role as electronics expert Barney Collier; and Peter Lupus played handsome hunk Willy Armitage, adding IMF muscle to Briggs' brainy strategies.
As a Desilu production based at Paramount Studios, Mission: Impossible shared guest stars, production personnel, locations, and even occasional sets with the original Star Trek. Fans of both shows will enjoy spotting these crossover details (including George Takei's appearance in "The Carriers," a first-season highlight), and this season's other stand-out episodes include the "Pilot" (featuring Wally Cox as an ace safe-cracker), "Operation Rogosh," "A Spool There Was," "Action!," "The Train," and "The Traitor." Whether they were toppling dictators, rescuing doomed prisoners, foiling despots, or framing Mafia kingpins, the IMF agents were consistently blessed with taut, well-written plots, many unfolding with minimal dialogue and highly visual schemes that demanded (and rewarded) the viewer's close attention. Although Steven Hill eventually left the series (as an Orthodox Jew, he preferred not to work on the Jewish Sabbath, as M:I required), his single season set the stage for M:I's long-term popularity, with Peter Graves (replacing Hill as "Jim Phelps") leading the IMF from 1967 to 1973. And while Paramount has again neglected to offer DVD extras with this set, the episodes look and sound just about perfect, with a parade of guest stars including Carol O'Connor, Simon Oakland, Fritz Weaver, Nehemiah Persoff, Barbara Luna, Vic Tayback, and a host of other '60s TV regulars. Your mission--and you shouldn't hesitate to accept it--is to enjoy this classic series all over again! --Jeff Shannon

Mission: Mediocre.......2007-08-29
It's clear that in this first season, Mission: Impossible was stumbling around trying to find its way.
I don't like Steven Hill's wooden performance as Mr. Briggs - Peter Graves would bring much more excitment to a similar role in future seasons - and frankly, most of the other performances are sub-par.
Perhaps that's due to the absurd, at times surreal, scripts the cast had to deal with. One always needed a large measure of suspension of disbelief for this series but Season One is beyond the pale.
And talk about cheap props and sets - they make Ed Wood productions seem like Speilberg! One episode had a swarm of "bees" on STRINGS. Another had a "voting machine" so ridiculous as to boggle the mind.
Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on the series because, despite its flaws, it IS entertaining kitsch.
But if you're looking for a Mission: Impossible DVD set, skip Season One and move directly to the far superior following seasons with Peter Graves.
Good Luck Dan.......2007-08-21
Everyone's got it right: Tom Cruise, it's not about explosions, flying body parts, completely ludicrous chase scenes where amazingly no pedestrians get killed or mamed. It's all about story, and great acting, and plot development. It's about what happens when plans go wrong and you have to think on your feet. It's about discrediting a dictator or syndicate boss in front of his cronies, or executing a sting operation to foil a plan for releasing biochemical weapons or detonating a nuclear weapon. Most of all, it's about setting up a situation using visuals and crisp dialog, then pulling you into the suspense for the final payoff.
As you can guess, I really love this Sixties TV classic. And I couldn't wait to show it to my son, who is just 10 years old. I worried a bit that he'd be turned off by the production values (great for TV but meager compared to mainstream movies shot these days) or to the gradual development of the story. I had nothing to worry about. He loved it from the get go, and this summer we practically watched one episode every night for two weeks. It was a great opportunity to pause the DVD at times to give him some background into what the Cold War was all about, what the Third Reich meant, how card games are played (as in some of the fixed game scenarios), and other relevent topics. His two favorite characters are Rollin and Barney. He's always trying to predict what Rollin is going to do, who he's going to impersonate, or how he's going to use slight-of-hand to trick someone. And Barney fascinates him because--like a prototype for McGiver--he's always able to quickly fabricate something when the force's plans go wrong.
Other reviewers have given eloquent descriptions of this first year's episodes, so let me just say, buy it, enjoy it, and watch it instead of reality, crime scene investigation, or talent shows. I guarantee you'll not be sorry.
Mission Impossible - the best ever...!.......2007-08-07
In the mid-1960's Paramount Studio produced the best ever classic series called MISSION IMPOSSIBLE which included Mr. Peter Graves, Greg Moris, Martin Landau and the sexy Barbara Bains. This is the best classic TV miniseries which come out of Hollywood. I recall that my family used to watch the TV movie every Saturday evening around 10 p.m. The outside traffic on such a busy weekend would come to a standstill as everyone was glued to his or her set.
Reportedly, even business and political affairs were put on whole until the hour-long show was over. However, in those days, we didn't have color television and would content with watching the show in mere black-and-white.
Now that I and many enthusisastic fans of Mission Impossible 1960s have bought the Season 1 & Season 2
series, on their behalf, may I urge Amazon to make Season 3 & Season 4 available. I understand that Mission Impossible which begins in 1966 to 1973 have 7 season series altogether. Let's hope these are gradually made available to all of us - fans. Thanks.
Mission Impossible..1st season.......2007-07-30
Excellent to watch!! Had forgotten how good the series was after not watching them till now. Worth the price. Ordered the 2nd season now.
MI's 1st Season.......2007-07-17
I was very happy with the first season, especially seeing Steven Hills (Law and Order) on the other side of the law. The plots were were filled with intrigue---though a bit dated.
Just goes to show that they didnt need all of todays special effects to make a good story line.

At the time of its release, Mission: Impossible III's box office was plagued by the publicity backlash against couch-jumping star Tom Cruise. It's too bad, because this third installment of the spy thriller franchise deserved a better reception than it got. First-time feature director J.J. Abrams (bigwig TV director/producer of Lost, Alias, & Felicity) proves more than able-bodied in creating a Mission: Impossible that's leaner and less over-stylized than John Woo's sequel and less confusing than Brian De Palma's original. Plot is still a throwaway here (Cruise's Ethan Hunt rescues his kidnapped former trainee and works to steal a device that... well, we don't really know what it does, but it's something about mass destruction that costs $850 million), but the action sequences, particularly one where Ethan faces down a helicopter on a bridge and gets flung hard against the side of a car, are particularly impressive since Cruise, at 44, is still doing most of his own stunts and shows no hint of the weathered look that's struck his action-star peers. (Though no Mission: Impossible stunt will ever be quite as simultaneously nail-biting and funny as the first film's wire-dangling break-in of CIA headquarters.)
Mission: Impossible III boasts a pedigreed cast, particularly Oscar® winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) as baddie arms dealer Owen Davian. Hoffman plays Owen all teeth-clenched and cool, especially when threatening to kill Ethan in front of his lovely new wife (Michelle Monaghan) who has no idea of his spy life. But in his first action-film lead role, Hoffman's almost too calm and collected to really make a memorable villain, especially when the rest of the cast--Ving Rhames (the only other cast member to return for all three films), Asian film star Maggie Q, and an underused Jonathan Rhys-Meyers--are a highlight as Ethan's IMF team. Mission: Impossible is still fun popcorn spy fare, and if Cruise chooses to end the franchise here, at least he goes out on a high note. --Ellen A. Kim

Whereas MI 1 was a great movie with a pretty impossible mission, MI 2 fairly good with also a nice impossible mission, MI 3 has a mission, but we never know how it was accomplished! In the building, out the building and... done. What happened inside we'll never know. Very disappointing

SPOILER WARNING in header.......2007-07-30
I am sick, sick, sick SICK! ... and tired of the "The boss is the evil mastermind behind it all!" theme in action movies these days.
This ruined what could have been a perfectly acceptable action film. Isn't that the same plot theme that ruined the first movie ?!?
Nice cast, nice back story, nice main plot. Very cool action sequences and of course, major misdirection by the master of it, JJ Abrams.
I lost interest in it about three quarters of the way through and then perked up near the end, even though the scene that woke me up inferred that one human life was not worth as much as another. That theme in movies kills my enthusiasm also.
Disappointing. Rent it before you decide to buy.
Utterly unheard of.......2007-06-14
Not very often do the studios come up with a 3rd installment of a film that surpasses it's predecessors. I felt that this was one of those rare cases. I was one of the minority who was not blown away by the first MI. I was even more dissappointed by the second MI. The second one was nothing but a "Cruise love-in". God forbid that they shot a single second of footage that didn't include Tom.
With these memories, I avoided this 3rd MI film. Well, today I had the day off and it was on Pay channels. I sat down and was prepared to be underwhelmed. I was pleasantly surprised. The film again relies heavily on Cruise. But, this time the story is greatly improved by the presence of Lawrence Fishburne and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Back again is the tremendous Ving Rhames. All these characters make for a compelling story. There is also the presence of the nifty gadgets and urgency we expect from MI films.
Overall I found the entire film to be much more enjoyable than the previous MI's and would recommend it to anyone.

Mission Impossible
A flashy, splashy summer-movie blockbuster that's fun and exciting without being mindless? That's the impossible mission accomplished by director Brian De Palma, star-coproducer Tom Cruise, and the crack team of Mission: Impossible. Based on the '60s TV show and an almost impenetrably complex (but nonetheless thrilling) original story by David Koepp (Jurassic Park) and Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List), with a screenplay by Koepp and Robert Towne (Chinatown, Shampoo), Mission: Impossible begins with veteran agent Jim Phelps (Jon Voight) and his expert crew embarking on a mission that goes horribly, horribly wrong. But nothing is what it seems. The nail-biting set piece--always a signature of director De Palma (Carrie, The Untouchables)--in which Cruise is lowered from the ceiling to retrieve information from a computer in a high-security vault--is an instant classic. But perhaps even more impressive, at least in retrospect, is a flashback sequence in which two characters attempt to reconstruct a series of events from multiple points of view. It's pretty daring and sophisticated stuff for a big-budget spy movie, but brains were always what put the Mission: Impossible team ahead of the competition, anyway, no? --Jim Emerson
Mission Impossible II
Visually stunning, and a likely must for John Woo aficionados, the second Mission: Impossible outing from megastar Tom Cruise suffers from an inconsistent tone and tired plot devices--not only recycled from other films, but repeated throughout the film. Despite remarkable cinematography and awe-inspiring, trademark Woo photography, the movie offers a tepid story from legendary screenwriter-director Robert Towne (Chinatown, Without Limits) and a host of other writers, most uncredited.
It is, regrettably, as forgettable as the first big-budget, big box-office MI in 1996, and it's clear (as Towne confirms) that the plot was developed around Woo- and Cruise-written action sequences. The film combines equal elements of romance and action, and is best when it features the stunning allure of Thandie Newton as Nyah, a master thief recruited by the sinewy charms of Ethan Hunt (a fit Cruise). Deeply in love after a passionate night, the couple must then combat MI nemesis (and Nyah's former lover) Sean Ambrose (Ever After's Dougray Scott). Ambrose holds hostage a virus and its cure, and offers them to the highest bidder.
Woo's famed mythic filmmaking is far from subtle, with heroic Hunt frequently slow-motion walking through fire, smoke, or other similar devices, replete with a white dove among pigeons to signal his presence. The emphasis on romance is an attempt to develop character and a more human side to superspy Hunt, but still the dreary story proves a distraction from the exciting action sequences. John Polson (as an MI team member) is an Aussie talent to keep an eye on. --N.F. Mendoza

Awesome collection.......2007-08-23
I thought the first MI was pretty cool, I though the second had its cool moments and I loved the 3rd one. Tom Cruise still has it, I dont care what anyone says. These are all action-packed, edge-of-your-seat type of movies and are all quite enjoyable to watch at anytime. The first and last are definetely the better ones, but this collection was a pretty cool idea. I'll definetely have to pick it up for myself.
The Best of all MI movies.......2007-03-28
I really like Mission Impossible III, it was really entertaining. In my opinion it was the best out of all three MI movies.
mission impossible ultimate mission collection .......2007-01-15

Mission Impossible Gift for Dad.......2007-01-11
My dad loved the collection, which was a Christmas gift. He got it in a timely fashion and has watched all three movies.
Excited to have all three movies together........2007-01-10
I enjoyed seeing all these movies in the theater and i will continue to enjoy them at home. The extras were interesting to see the behind the scenes of how the movies were made.

Excellent Movies.......2007-08-31
The Mission Impossible series is one of those series, like The Matrix, that really needed a remake in HD. Mission Impossible is decent but the MI2 and MI3 are absolutely gorgeous.
With my Onkyo receiver the sound quality is phenomenal. I'm not a big fan of extras but there are a decent amount if that is your thing.
If you already own the series on DVD, I would buy MI2 and MI3 in HD but don't bother with the first one...I don't think you'll notice the difference.
Mission Accomplished in HD-DVD.......2007-05-31
Bottom line, other than the Ultimate Matrix HD-DVD set, there isn't another finer HD set on the market.
Mission Possable.......2007-05-13
Great video and sound I thopught it brought even more life to the movies. The only draw back is that the bonus stuff wasnt hd on the first 2 and even that was limited. Overall though its a must buy for any action fan.
amazing box set.......2007-01-11
The Ultimate Missions Collection on HDDVD was great. The audio and video in the three movies were fantastic,Especially MI-3.There were also a ton of special features (some also in high definition) and even a 4th disk (Just for MI-3) I loved this box set!
Great trilogy, an even better price!.......2007-01-10
I saw this in the retail store for close to $100! I got it here at a fraction of the price, and that makes the viewing experience even better! This is some of Tom's best work, even before going a little nuts... I have to say the MI3 is by far my favorite of the set, and the picture is astounding in HD, but what really blew me away is the SOUND quality; every bullet shell, every explosion, every fight scene; the Dolby is undeniable. I highly recomend this set for anyone that loves action flicks, and enjoys the quality of HD.

Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, a secret agent framed for the deaths of his espionage team. Fleeing from government assassins, breaking into the CIA's most impenetrable vault, clinging to the roof of a speeding bullet train, Hunt races like a burning fuse to stay one step ahead of his pursuers... and draw one step closer to discovering the shocking truth.
Customer Reviews:
Great Movie/ Crisp Blu Ray but NO High Def Audio Support.......2007-07-25
Mission Impossible: I is the first movie of the three mission impossibles and it is by far the only one worth watching. True, the second one has crazy explosives and flying karate kicks but that's not what true espionage is all about.
Then there's the third one, the most recent, and it's more espionage than the 2nd but it too relys too heavily on explosions and big names to give you any real value as a movie. This movie is the bread and butter of "didn't see it coming" espionage spy movies!
That said, I'd like for you as a viewer of reviews to check out the DVD reviews of this Movie and get more of a feel for what it has to offer, Here in the "Blu Ray" Review I just want to tell you whats improved or not improved, for that matter, on the blu ray version. I currently have the Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver which decodes True HD and DTS Master HD audio formats NEITHER OF WHICH ARE SUPPORTED ON THIS BLU RAY DISC.
The best audio that is offered on this Disc is regular Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 which sounds great, but does not live up to the standards that are trying to be set in this next generation of home entertainment.
So I was disappointed in not getting the HD audio I would expect it does look fantastic in HD, there's a lot of contrast in black levels and the details in face shots are phenomenal but I wouldn't replace my Old Mission Impossible DVD with a Blu Ray Version (I rented it from blockbuster online to see the difference)
Hope this helps you as a consumer Cheers.

The best!.......2007-08-31
Mission Impossible is full of intrigue, espionage and amazing effects. The best in the MI series. A must to own.
action packed.......2007-08-22
It was fun to watch this again after so long. Lots of violence though.
A Solid Three Stars.......2007-08-12
Mission-Impossible, the 1996 stylish thriller directed by Brian DePalma and starring Tom Cruise, is a fun and engaging movie that is a joy to watch. The movie clocking in at a very fast paced one hour and 50 minutes, features incredible stunts and some excellent supporting actors. The stars include Jean Reno, Jon Voight, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Redgrave. This former summer blockbuster, the successful film that inspired to sequels, is well-worth revisiting. It is an enjoyable and complex romp that is very memorable. A four star thrill ride!

The BEST of Mission Impossible..........2007-04-12
It keeps you guessing and figuring it out as you go. Just the type of mystery I like! You can't go wrong with this Mission Impossible.
A Classic Action Flick.......2007-02-11
Many of the special effects are classics in their genre, and seem somewhat cliched after being copied (or improved) by numerous other films. Tom Cruise was still a credible actor when he did MI-1. Something weird happened to him on the way to the top, but when he did Mission Impossible 1, it hadn't occurred yet. The plot is typical cloak-and-dagger stuff, with a few twists, updated for the early computer age. The technical quality of the DVD is excellent, and the movie is very entertaining, even if you barely recall the storyline a week later. If you like action movies, you NEED this one!
