OK, all you Trekkers who have been resisting the Star Trek: Fan Collective series on principle because it's an inexpensive repackaging of the episodes you already have on DVD. Captain's Log, the fifth in the series, raises the bar, not just by including a fifth disc, but by providing a host of brand-new content. As usual, fans selected the initial 10 episodes--two per series--but each "captain"--William Shatner, James T. Kirk of the Original Series; Patrick Stewart, Jean-Luc Picard of The Next Generation; Avery Brooks, Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine; Kate Mulgrew, Kathryn Janeway of Voyager; and Scott Bakula, Jeffery Archer of Enterprise--picked a third episode as a personal favorite. Each captain then introduces the selected episode in about a one-minute segment (the exception is Shatner, who dishes for 12 minutes about "The City on the Edge of Forever," joined partway through by co-star Joan Collins), and in most cases, introduces the fan-selected ones as well. Finally, each captain is interviewed in a series of featurettes (some with common themes, such as "The Importance of the Captain's Log," "What Makes a Good Captain," or the character's legacy or future) lasting 8 to 12 minutes total. (Brooks' segments don't follow the themes and appear to be recorded a while back.) And thankfully, of all the episodes in the set--"The City on the Edge of Forever," "The Enterprise Incident," and "Balance of Terror" from the Original Series; "In Theory," "Chain of Command," and "Darmok" from The Next Generation; "Far Beyond the Stars," "What You Leave Behind" parts 1 and 2, and "In the Pale Moonlight" from Deep Space Nine; "Counterpoint," "The Omega Directive," and "Flashback" from Voyager; and "Judgment," "These Are the Voyages," and "First Flight" from Enterprise--only "The City on the Edge of Forever" is repeated from a previous Fan Collective, and it's hard to complain about seeing that episode too many times. --David Horiuchi

The fans and captains have spoken! Not only have Star Trek fans voted online for their all-time favorite captain episodes from all five Star Trek series, but each show's legendary leader Captain Kirk, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula has carefully chosen their favorite episode, which resulted in Star Trek: Fan Collective Captain's Log.
Customer Reviews:
I loved this one as much as I loved the other special sets.......2007-09-07
I wish that CBS or Paramount would make more special collectors sets like this one more often then just once a year. I loved this set of episodes like the other sets dealing with the Borg, Klingons, time travel, Q, and others.
I wish there was a Romulan set, or a strange alien set coming soon. The only problem is that I find that there are repeated episodes in each different box set, where I personally want new and different episodes each time a new set comes out.
I also want CBS-Paramount to sell the new special effects editions of the original classic Star Trek episodes with Captain Kirk like they broadcast late at night on CBS or NBC on DVD.
Again this was another awesome product from the Star Trek universe, can't wait for more.
trek fans will enjoy.......2007-09-03
I personally like this collection, although I couldn't bring myself to give it a 5 based on a questionable episode choice or two (considering the theme at least, not that they are bad episodes), the repeat of an episode from a previous "collective," and because of the fact it just simply isn't as good as some of the other collectives (specifically the borg collective, and arguably others as well).
But maybe I am just being picky, as I do not regret my purchase at all, and do enjoy the captain interviews as well as the episodes. If you are like me and love trek but can't bring yourself to purchase all the full seasons, these collectives are worth the money, and this one is no exception.
~Just for the Captains~.......2007-08-29
Being a lover of first Captain Kirk and then Jean Luc Picard and not caring that much for the others I was hesitant on buying this. Also it has been said several times in reviews that this only presents one repeat, no, it presents two (City of the Edge of Forever) and Darmok is here on Captain Log but it also on the Jean Luc Picard Fan Collection (which I also own). All in all the Captains series i sworth an addition to your collection.
Star Trek in Spanish!.......2007-08-28
I was looking for a gift for a Star Trek's Fan that lives in Central America. So, I did need something with at least Spanish subtitles. However I get more that I expected when I see the box and realized that all 15 episodes have not only Spanish subtitles but you can also choose to hear them in Spanish or Portuguese language, just as my friend saw them on television! The same voices of the 70's! I just like to know if the rest of the Fan Collective DVD series have the same language options.
Captains Log - Supplimental.......2007-08-26
If you've got the entire series collections, you've got all these episodes. The same can be said for all of the "Fan Collective" assemblies. If you DON'T have the entire series, this is a good way to capture favorites. I got to vote on some of these episodes, so it was cool to see how the voting turned out. Only three of the ones I picked made the cut - oh well. These are all good episodes. Some you will find on OTHER Fan Collective editions as well. The opening commentary by each Captain's actor is novel - as are the other comments they offer in each bonus feature section of each disk. I think you'll enjoy that each series Captain has a disk of thier own, with three episodes per disk (one chosen by the actor, the other two by the fans). You can easily sit down for an "evening" with each Captain and not get too much episode vertigo.

While hardcore Trekkers may not find a lot of new material in Star Trek Collective: Borg, newcomers experiencing 16 action-packed, fan-selected episodes of the Federation's greatest villains may have to prepare to be assimilated. All the episodes have been previously released on DVD, but there are new text commentaries on three of the episodes, and the per-disc price is significantly less expensive than the full-season Trek sets. It's a great entry point for novices, or for budget-minded fans.
The episodes are presented in Stardate order, which means starting with Enterprise, the latest series but also the earliest in chronological order. In "Regeneration," an exploration team finds a pair of apparently dead humanoid-mechanical hybrids that turn out to be members of the Borg, a nearly invincible race whose simple goal is to absorb--"assimilate"--every individual organism it encounters into its collective being. Because the Borg has the ability to adapt itself to resist any threat, resistance is futile. Shift ahead to The Next Generation and a visit by the quirky god Q turns out to have deadly implications when, in a pouty mood, he throws the Enterprise into their first encounter with the Borg. That's followed by the classic two-part cliffhanger (bridging seasons 3 and 4) "The Best of Both Worlds," in which Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) is assimilated into the Borg and a frustrated Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) has to make a fateful decision. "I, Borg" attempts to give the Borg a humanized aspect, and the two-parter "Descent" has some interesting developments for Data (Brent Spiner). Skip Deep Space Nine in favor of Voyager, the series in which Captain Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) ship is stranded far from home in the Delta Quadrant. That happens to be home turf for the Borg, so they had a number of run-ins. The first two-parter (which bridged seasons 3 and 4) is "Scorpion," which introduces the Borg's nemesis, Species 8472. By the time of "Drone," the ship had its first Borg crew member, the sexy Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), but her loyalties are tempted by the Borg Queen (Susanna Thompson) in the double-length "Dark Frontier." In the "Unimatrix Zero" two-parter, which bridged seasons 6 and 7, Seven discovers an idyllic haven for members of the Collective that the Queen is determined to find and destroy. That eventually leads to an ultimate confrontation with the Queen (now played by Alice Krige, repeating her role from Star Trek: First Contact) in the series finale, "Endgame." --David Horiuchi
Product Description
The Borg Fan Collection has the top ten most popular Borg episodes as picked by the fans! Witness all the characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Enterprise and Voyager as they defend their ships, galaxies, and their own kind. For thousands of years the Borg have been spreading throughout the galaxy, conquering, assimilating and thus destroying countless civilizations. Following every encounter, the Borg catalogue each new species with a numerical designation instead of a proper name. The goal of the Borg, in most cases, is to completely assimilate each species by incorporating their knowledge and technology into the unified Borg Collective. One by one, each living being is converted into Borg Drones. In many cases, all that remains of an assimilated civilization is the memory of its unique contributions that now resides only within the accumulated knowledge of the Borg. That and the numerical species designation. Often even the name is lost, forgotten or deleted as irrelevant. Conversely, the species designations give a sense of the long and terrible history of the Borg and the thousands of species they have encountered and absorbed.

I recommend this collection to any Trek fan!

Great Star Trek.......2007-05-16
This is a pretty good sample of the Borg on the different Star Trek Shows. I would like to have seen some others included, but it it still a very enjoyable piece of Star Trek entertainment.
This is the best Star Trek Collection!.......2007-05-12
This really is a great collection! You can actually have both parts of 'The Best of Both Worlds' (as well as several other great season cliffhangers) on dvd without buying 2 seasons! It would probably be a good idea for them to make a 'Cliffhangers' collection just for that purpose.
Anyway, if you love to hate the borg, I highly recommend buying this set. I won't bore you with episode details (as they're already listed elsewhere), but suffice it to say, these are really good! Once you have this, you just have to assimilate the movie 'First Contact,' to complete the borg collective.

If you want just one Star Trek DVD set in your collection, Star Trek Fan Collective: Time Travel may be it. Of the 15 time-bending episodes on the affordably priced four-disc set, two are perhaps the most acclaimed in franchise history: the Original Series' "The City on the Edge of Forever" (written by sci-fi giant Harlan Ellison) and Deep Space Nine' s "Trials and Tribble-ations" (in which the DS9 crew is cleverly edited into the original crew's "The Troubles with Tribbles" episode). The other selections are the Original Series' "Tomorrow Is Yesterday"; The Next Generation's "Yesterday's Enterprise," "Cause and Effect," the two-part "Time's Arrow," and the series finale "All Good Things..."; DS9's "Little Green Men"; and Voyager's two-part "Year of Hell" and series finale "Endgame."
One could quibble with the episode selection. Because the Fan Collectives were compiled by vote from fans, Voyager's series finale "Endgame" was included even though it was also on Fan Collective: Borg. It would have been nice to remove that duplicate and substitute the acclaimed DS9 two-parter "Past Tense," which would have been a better representation of that series than "Little Green Men" (in which the Ferengi travel to Roswell) and "Tribble-ations," both of which are deserving selections but considerably lighter in tone than the series as a whole. Also, Enterprise isn't represented at all. The only bonus features are new text commentaries on three episodes by Michael Okuda and Denise Okuda. --David Horiuchi

Star Trek is FUN! Time travel possible?.......2007-06-27
My favorite Star Trek episodes are the Time Travel ones. Kirk is great, Picard is kind of boring. Sisko is meh, Janeway is crabby, Archer is great. This has one of my all time Next Gen favorites "Yesterday's Enterprise". For old Star Trek you can't beat the episode were Kirk and Spock go back to the great depression and Spock makes a tricorder out of old TV parts. They cut out the scene were Kirk and Spock have a hard boiled egg eating contest and Spock pukes. This is much better than buying the complete seasons. Paramount is still selling them for over $100. I wish they would have made a time travel episode were Picard goes back in time and meets Kirk and they get in a fish fight that lasts an hour with the Vulcan fight music in the background. Remember "The Cable Guy"? I am not one of those guys that shows up to work in his captain Kirk starfleet uniform. Ooops, have to go my communicator is beeping. "Scotty, beam me up!"
So, where's Star Trek Fan Collective Time Travel Volume 2?.......2007-01-16
Great set, great set! So, where's the rest of it? Paramount cannot be serious about this can they? They HAD to have had planned a Time Travel 2 when they made this!
Paramount must not be able to hire good help, because it only took me about 20 minutes of research to come up with the episodes for Time Travel 2:
Disc 1:
Star Trek Enterprise - "Carbon Creek"
Star Trek Enterprise - "Carpenter Street"
Star Trek Enterprise - "Storm Front Parts 1 & 2"
Disc 2:
Star Trek The Original Series - "Assignment: Earth"
Star Trek The Original Series - "All Our Yesterdays"
Star Trek The Next Generation - "A Matter Of Time"
Star Trek The Next Generation - "Timescape"
Disc 3:
Star Trek Deep Space Nine - "Past Tense Part 1 & 2"
Star Trek Deep Space Nine - "Things Past"
Star Trek Voyager - "Time And Again"
Disc 4:
Star Trek Voyager - "Future's End Parts 1 & 2"
Star Trek Voyager - "Coda"
Star Trek Voyager - "Timeless"
There Paramount! All the research work is done for you, and for FREE!........now GET BUSY, before I send you a bill for my research!!!! I'm anxiously awaiting with cash in hand y'all! Do this right and finish what you started Paramount!
Time Travel -- The Final Frontier.......2007-01-10
I really enjoy stories and movies dealing with traveling through time (in either direction). Being a really big Star Trek fan, I have seen all these episodes numerous times. But it's nice to have these all in one set. I liked that they included episodes from four of the Star Trek series. My only criticism was the fact they left out some of the episodes I thought they would have included. I suppose they had limitations on the number they could use. Who would have guessed they actually did so many time travel stories over the years.
Great Collection.......2007-01-04
This was a great collection of time travel episodes from several Star Trek series...I even started to like TOS. But I can't help but feel that some choices should have been included like Before and After from the Voyager series...but otherwise, its a great buy.

The fourth volume of the Star Trek Fan Collective series tackles the Federation's arch-enemies-turned-sometimes-allies, the Klingons. It begins in chronological order with Enterprise's premiere episode, "Broken Bow." A new starship, Enterprise NX-01, is rushed into service when a Klingon crash-lands on Earth and Starfleet decides to return him to his home world. Then skip to two episodes of the Original Series, "Errand of Mercy" and "The Trouble with Tribbles," which focus on the conflicts between the Federation and the Klingons. But the two factions had begun working together by the time of The Next Generation. In "A Matter of Honor," Riker (Jonathan Frakes) spends some time serving aboard a Klingon ship, and his Enterprise shipmate, Worf (Michael Dorn), delves deep into his Klingon culture along with his brother Kurn (Tony Todd) in "Sins of the Father." Then in the two-part "Redemption," a bridge between the fourth and fifth seasons, the Klingon empire teeters on the brink of civil war. Worf arrived at the space station Deep Space Nine when the Klingons offer to join the Federation in the Dominion war in "The Way of the Warrior." There he remained for "The Sword of Kahless," in which the search for a mythical artifact turns into a very real struggle for power. Last are DS9's humor classic "Trials and Tribble-ations," followed by Voyager's "Barge of the Dead," in which B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson) has visions of the Klingon afterlife.
Of all the fan collectives released so far, Star Trek Fan Collective: Klingon has the largest number of episodes to draw from, so there will inevitably be controversy over which episodes were selected (via fan vote). While the two Tribble episodes are among the franchise's most popular, the Klingons are somewhat tangential characters, and "Trials and Tribble-ations" was previously included on Star Trek Fan Collective: Time Travel. The space might have been better spent on the Original Series' "Day of the Dove" or more TNG and DS9, though that might have turned the set into Star Trek Fan Collective: Worf. --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
A "Klingon" collection without the SNG episode "Ethics" is incomplete.......2007-07-25
The episode "Ethics" is one of the best Star Trek episodes, hands down. It is also a classic prompter for anyone in healthcare studying decision analysis. It presents another side of Klingon/Worf's character that is missing from the other episodes. This box is sorely deficient for leaving the episode "ethics" out.
Regarding "Barge of the Dead".......2007-02-06
I see plenty of unfortunate hostility toward the inclusion of "Barge of the Dead" on this collection, and I have to vehemently disagree. It has to be the most thoughtful, introspective, and insightful episodes of "Voyager", if not one of the most in the total Star Trek franchise. B'Elanna Torres was an intriguing and dynamic character that received as much attention and development as a show like "Voyager" would ever allow. I empathize with the disappointment toward "Voyager", a series that boasted all sorts of potential and very little follow-through. But ultimately "Barge" was one of that show's few bright spots.
Not the perfect collection.......2007-01-19
The fan collectives are really good star trek materials. But when Klingons are included in it it has lost its meaning in the process. Why because its not possible to please all klingon fans with just 4 discs. There had to be more.
Although they brought the key episodes for Klingons there are many with no meaning at all. We start with the best Klingon episodes from TOS.Then we continue with Enterprise but, come on do you really think that Enterprise's pilot is a klingon episode. Just it has klingons in it (for a couple of minutes, in a 90 minute show), it doesnt mean that it must be included in this collection. I mean i dont complain about enterprise but i dont think that this episode belongs to this collection. Then comes the great TNG episodes. Then we continue with some of the best DS9 episodes. Then again there is Sword of Kahless it's an okey episode but i would rather prefer "You are cordially invited..." to see the marital traditions of the Klingon race. Plus it would be more fun to watch. And there are more DS9 episodes about Klingons that could have been included in this collection.
And finally my last complaint: Voyager's the barge of the death. Horrible, i mean really horrible probably one of the lacking episodes of the great series Voyager. Probably they included this episode to just squeeze in Belonna Torres and Voyager in the collection.
Anyway, as always you get your money's worth with this collection. Plus text commenteries are very detailed and fun to read. I'm giving four stars because i believe there could be better klingon episodes in the collection. But then agian to receive the perfect Klingon collection they had make a 8 or 9 disc set.
If you are a Star Trek fan you shoul get this collection.
I Allowed Paramount to Screw Me.......2006-11-30
1) Some relatively lame Klingon episodes are included in this set. "Barge of the Dead"? Why would anyone include that mediocre episode in a "best of" box set? Given that DS9 was full of exciting, complicated episodes that centered on Klingon characters, why were there only two episodes from that series in the entire collection?
2) I was charged for a 4 disc set, when they could have easily fit all those episodes on 3 discs. Moreover, given that more episodes could have been included on each of the discs, why weren't they? Doubtless Paramount wants to make certain that I keep buying seasons of DS9.
A good collection but...........2006-11-14
I only wish that the set had two more episodes. The first one is "day of the dove" (TOS) with Kang. There were only three major Klingon episodes in TOS. Two of them are on here" (Errand of Mercy" has Kor, "Trouble with Tribbles" has Koloth.) but not the third one which is "day of the dove".
Because Worf was a main character in TNG and later DS9 there are many Klingon episodes in those series. So there is no way to include them all. With TOS however, just the addition of "day of the dove" would make it seem more complete. There, is another reason it could have been included. All three Klingon captains make an appearance in one DS9 episode mentioned below.
The episode "Blood Oath" from DS 9 could have been included. It has Kor, Koloth AND Kang (all three characters played by the orignal actors) in it. In fact, I think it would have been a better episode to include than "the sword of Kahless". (somehow the episode seems redundant to me. perhaps an inclusion of a "b" story would have made it a better episode"
Also, "barge of the dead" seems like a token episode just to include at least one show from "voyager".
But it is a good collection in the sense that it has shows from all the series. I have all of DS9 on DVD. So the ones in the set are repeats for me. (The Q collection, for example, has only one DS9 episode. The rest are TNG and Voyager only...but it is a good collection because it has EVERY Q episode in it. Unless you count the TOS episode "Squire of Gothos"). And even though I do have all of DS9 on DVD, "the way of the warrior" from DS9 gets a text commentary on here, which I enjoy.
To sum it up. I'd give it five stars if it included "day of the dove" TOS and "blood oath" DS9

Impresionante concierto una perfecta union del rock con la orquesta sinfonica en realidad me quede sorprendido por la perfomance del grupo, un DVD para verlo de corrido en compañia de amigos que disfrutan de la buena musica.
Pure energy!.......2007-07-19
This album is the epitomy of CS. If you're a fan already, this is a must own. CS is awesome! If you are a casual listener, the renditions on this album are great and, since it contains all the big releases, you should pick it up too!
Wish I was there.......2007-05-17
This is an O.K. concert on dvd, but really the sound quality blows. It was probably a great concert live, but don't expect much with this disk. I would suggest the 7 year itch cd instead.
Collective Soul's Natural evolvement.......2007-05-12
It was only fitting for CS to do a concert like this. Their songs, for the most part, lend themselves to orchestration. Ed Roland is a genius writer and it shows well in this DVD.CS has been around for about 14 years now; an eternity in the music industry these days. Kudos to "The Soul Machine" for making this DVD as comprehensive and fun as it is!

Volume 3 in the Star Trek Fan Collective series focuses on the show's resident deity, Q, played with indignant mischief by John De Lancie. While previous Fan Collectives have taken votes to select which episodes around a certain theme would be included, Q makes things easy (the character never made things easy) by simply including all 12 episodes (two are double-length) in which he appeared. And because Q was especially fond of tormenting Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew, most of the episodes are from The Next Generation, including that series' first episode, Encounter at Farpoint. Subsequent episodes are "Hide and Q" in which the crew plays a deadly game; "Q Who," in which a temper tantrum throws the Enterprise into its first-ever encounter with the Borg (also included on the Fan Collective: Borg set); "Deja Q," in which the character becomes a normal human; "Qpid," in which Q tries to play matchmaker by turning Picard into Robin Hood; "True Q" in which Q reveals the truth about a mysterious young woman; "Tapestry," in which Picard shares a near-death experience with the godlike thorn in his side; and the series finale, "All Good Things
" Q also made brief stops in the first season of Deep Space Nine ("Q Less") and in Voyager. In "Death Wish," Q tries to help Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) recover her male crew members after an encounter with another member of the Q Continuum, "The Q and the Grey," in which Q wants Janeway to bear his child; and the final season's "Q2," in which Q's son arrives to cause chaos, such as removing Seven of Nine's (Jeri Ryan) clothes. As with previous Fan Collective sets, the only new features (and in this case there are no other features) are text commentary on three episodes by Michael Okuda and Denise Okuda. --David Horiuchi

3.5 - good but not worth repeat viewings.......2007-09-01
No surprise here, Q was one of my favorite characters. One of the drawbacks of his character is that many of his scenes actually depend on his annoying behavior, and that doesn't stand up as well as more straight drama or comedy. I prefer the more developed Q, once they got past the first few episodes, and before he was more of a wimpy whiner with Janeway. Begging Janeway to have his child? Please.
The Farpoint show could have been much better. Too bad they didn't do it a few years in. Q's scenes could have been more refined, for example, as his touch of evil at that time was more compelling than the drift toward comedy.
"All Good Things" is one of the best, if you do the usual blocking out of the huge holes in time travel stories and the illogic in the core threat of the thing that ate the galaxy. Picard and Q had such a natural relationship, with Stewart and De Lancie each effective.
"Death Wish" has always been an excellent concept, perhaps underappreciated. What would you do if you were immortal and omnipotent? Hmm. Really takes "been there, done that" to a new level.
"Tapestry" has Picard as George Bailey and Q as Clarence. Yes, it's a bit of a stretch to conclude that, but Q gives Picard a look at what might have been. One of the best in this collection.
When Q takes the Enterprise to encounter the Borg, that remains chilling, even now. Two of Star Trek's best ideas: Q and the Borg, together.
Paramount has done the right thing with the specialized collections on Picard and Q.
For the Frugal Trekkie.......2007-07-22
I would love to own any of the Star Trek series, but I simply cannot afford the $70 that Paramount has decided to charge for each season. Until the price goes down, I'm happy to make do with the Fan Collectives.
Q has always been my favorite character and this set offers every episode that he's appeared in: 8 TNG episodes (2 that are two-parters), 1 DS9 episode and the 3 Voyager episodes. Since there are tons of reviews already that go into the specific episodes, I see no point in doing the same.
While it's great to have all the Q episodes, I personally would have liked a few more special features with the set. Aside for subtitle commentary by the producers (which was only done for a few episodes), there were no new or special features. Picky of me, I know, especially considering the price, but a featurette or even a blooper reel would have been fun to watch. The case that holds the discs is nice and compact. I takes the same amount of space as a single disc cover, yet keeps all the discs separate and scratch-free.
I've been enjoying the release of the Fan Collectives and hope that Paramount plans to continue with the series!
The All Omnipotent Q.......2007-06-28
Q has always been my favorite character in Star Trek, not counting the regular cast of the various shows. This collection offers a chance to see him interact with the crew of the Enterprise, the crew of DS9, and also the crew of Voyager. It is also nice to have both the series premier and the series finale of Star Trek: TNG in one collection. I would absolutely recommend this collection to anyone who is at all a fan of the omnipotent, the whimsical, and the often troublesome character, Q.
The Best Character in STNG.......2007-04-10
Joh Delancie was the best actor in all of the STNG/Voyager/DSN universe. Or perhaps it was just that his character, Q, had all the best lines. This collection has all of the episodes that Q appears in. Some episodes are pretty lame (espeically the pilot for STNG), but Q always relieves the tedium when he appears.
one of the best characters in the franchise.......2007-03-25
i love the Q. they should make a full length feature film about this character. if you do not know what Q is then your not a Trek fan and why are you reading this :)

I love this DVD.......2007-02-20
I am a soldier that is deployed to the Middle East and I have purchased several different mountain bike movies during the deployment to help me remember what its like to ride and stuff that I would like to learn to do. This movie is one of the best that I have because it reminds me about just going riding with friends and having a good time. I would suggest this to anyone who loves to go for a ride now and then.
It's Unreal...Buy it........2006-07-12
ROAM is the second film by The Collective ([...]) and shot entirely in 16mm film. The riding in the film in unbelievable and shot in premier locations like Whistler, Moab and Morrocco. Lots of great singletrack, downhill, dirt jumping, and a little freestyle action with Ryan Leech.
The filmmakers did a great job piecing the segments together and choosing a soundtrack that flows well with the film. The movie is only 40 minutes, but the extended bonus features make up for it. I like the "shop loop" feature in the bonus section, I just leave the movie on for hours looping over and over.
This is a great movie to watch before your next session, epic ride, or just to leave looping endlessly.
Buy it. Now. You'll love it.

In this easy-going video, members of Collective Soul explain that they'd never played an acoustic set until they made this four-day journey to Morocco for the series Music in High Places, but you'd never know it from the quality of their playing. While the Roland brothers (vocalist Ed and rhythm guitarist Dean) join lead guitarist Ross Childress with their unplugged six-strings, percussionist-bassist Will Turpin and drummer-percussionist Shane Evans play indigenous instruments to form a tight, acoustic rhythm section. The simple premise of the series (sending first-rate musicians on expeditions to ancient landmarks around the world) is surprisingly effective, and the production values are impeccable, without losing focus on the music (like the hit single "December") that Collective Soul is famous for.
Of the dozen songs performed, two are new, five are from Blender, three from Collective Soul, and two from Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. While this may disappoint devotees of Dosage, these songs have a cohesive quality that blends well with the band's musical stops in the Sahara desert, a 700-year-old casbah, the market of Marrakech (an outdoor highlight), and elsewhere. Ed Roland's belief that rock & roll should be fun is expressed in the band's overall demeanor: they're talented but not too serious (except, perhaps, when Roland objects to having a monkey on his shoulder). Even on rainy days, the Moroccan landscape is breathtaking, and while the group's spoken observations are mostly innocuous, it's clear that this was a special experience for all involved, and that feeling comes through clearly in this recommended video. --Jeff Shannon

I love this series........2007-08-28
Music in High places is an outstanding series. You get to see many stars in a whole new light. The visuals are incredible and the sound is awesome. I'm a fan of acoustic music and it is neat seeing the offstage side of some of these stars.
Its not what I thought..........2007-07-31
My partner bought this, I had no idea what it was and I loved it, a feast for the eyes and ears. I smiled the whole way through. Awesome band, awesome songs, beautiful country. The next bit is His review...I'm sorry the acoustic version didn't do it for me.It doesn't matter who the band is I prefer them to be plugged in not unplugged. I should have read the description more closely. I do have their 7 Year Itch cd and I absolutely LOVE it. Maybe a greatest hits dvd with original videos might come out in the near future - here's hoping.
Incredible Acoustic Performance.......2007-04-11
I've been a fan of Collective Soul since 1995 and bought this dvd a few years ago. Such a great look into the band and a chance to hear them play numerous songs live acoustically outside in Morocco. Every band member has speaking/interviewed parts, there is humour and seriousness, and a lot of passion in their music here. If you have ever heard a Collective Soul song before, you should see this. If you have never heard a Collective Soul song before...well that's impossible. You have heard of them you just don't know it.
Cool acoustic live performances.......2007-02-15
The guys sound great, the scenery is terrific, and the interviews are good too! If you're a fan be sure to pick this up. If you're new to Collective Soul snag the "Home" DVD first and then this one.
Leave it to Collective Soul to make a dungeon funny.......2007-01-21
I really enjoyed the guys just 'winging it with accoustic instuments. You can only do that if you're really musical artists. Exotic locales, shy but curious observers, and the Marakesh marketplace are all great. The little kids jamming to "GEL" just busted open language and cultural barriers, it seems like a time when the world wasn't as crazy as it is now. I loved how Shane and Will incorporated local sounds and instruments into their percussion. Leave it to Collective Soul to make a dungeon funny and...to sing in a third world restroom. Whether singing in the desert, in a fortress, in a busy marketplace, in narrow walkways between homes, in the rain under an arch or just talking about their perspectives on life in a beautiful ancient building, this Collective Soul DVD is a good and inexpensive investement in entertainment.

Three Mary-Kate & Ashley "You're Invited" videos hand-picked by fans make up one greatest-hits collection:
Birthday Party
The Olsens put on a big birthday celebration with lots of friends and make the viewer feel invited. Singing, games, presents, cake--it's all here. The focus is once again on the girls as celebrities (and therefore as products, like dolls), and that shtick can be a little wearing when so much of the show is concerned with underscoring their self-conscious cuteness. --Tom Keogh
Sleepover Party
The Olsen twins try their best to pull an all-nighter in this high-spirited, 25-minute slumber party episode. Mary-Kate and Ashley jumpstart the fun by encouraging their three perky guests to learn some new dance moves. Cue the MTV-style musical numbers; these girls just gotta sing! And they have a song for every activity, from playing video games, to making pizza (basically ordering a plain pie, then raiding the fridge for a variety of toppings), to scaring each other--and the boys--with spooky stories and makeup. Cute, tame entertainment for 4- to 7-year-olds who enjoy singing and dancing along. While kids 8 and older are much more likely to hold slumber parties, they might find the material too juvenile (sort of like Barney unmasked). --Liane Thomas
Mall Party
When Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen send you an invite to their Mall Party, maybe you'd better RSVP that you've got other plans. A credit card-thin plot drops the girls at the Mall of America, where they sing and dance their way through a slew of unmemorable but eminently hummable, bubblegum pop songs that live up to such no-frills names as "Meet You at the Mall" and "Food Court." Although this long half-hour is clearly trading on the fame of the TV twins of the past decade, the real star is that Minnesota mall, with its theme park-style rides and unending shopping opportunities. --Valerie J. Nelson

Customer Reviews:
My girls love these dvd's.......2007-08-01
We had all the VHS tapes of these and decided to get the DVD since my two older daughter's aged six and four love watching them. Lots of fun with music and dress-up.
SO MUCH FUN!.......2004-12-28
Mary-Kate and Ashley's Greatest Parties contains Sleepover Party, Mall Party and Birthday Party. They're all really cool! =D Each episode include awesome songs and the theme-song, You're Invited. All the songs make you wanna stand up and dance and sing-a-long. If you're a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley you can't miss this wonderful DVD! :D
I love this video!.......2003-02-21
Mary-Kate and Ashley at their best! The videos contained in this combo
are Mall Party, Birthday Party, and Sleepover Party. Sleepover Party is the first party movie the twins ever made. The songs are cute and classic, like "Video Monster" and "Gimmie Pizza". Birthday Party is cute, too. It has neat songs like "Moon Bounce Madness" and "Pool Party".
Mall Party is recent. The songs featured in this one include "When I Grow Up" and "Decisions, Decisions".
One Time Movie.......2002-01-07
This movie is a money-saver because it combines 3 movies on one tape. In the first movie, the girls have a few friends over for a sleepover party and they dance, giggle and have a pillow fight. True girl form but kinda boring. The second movie takes you along with the girls to Six Flags amusement park for their birthday. You get to watch the thrills and spills while they scream at the top of their lungs. The third movie (and the main reason I bought this) was the highlight for me. You go along with Mary-Kate and Ashley to the Mall of America where they shop, shop, shop, ride bumper cars, ride a roller coaster, and put on a mini fashion show. What child(of any age) could resist the fun of a day at that mall. However, the endless drone of "we're going to the mall" that they sang over and over made a few family members give up on the movie and leave. Yes, I'd buy it again because I like Mary-Kate and Ashley but if you're looking for something to occupy more than a few hrs, this is not the one!!! I don't think you could enjoy it after the first time.
Greatest party time!!!.......2001-06-28
This video is wonderful! It has three on one video which saves a lot of money. It was like I was joining in with their party. This is the first party video I have seen and I am going to buy the others too.

Customer Reviews:
I'm crazing.......2007-06-26
I didn't know the freerider before this video. Is amazing, I won't respond for my attitudes.
NWD does it again.......2007-05-25
Another awesome freeride film with cutting edge riding and sweet tunes (with the exception of 2 or 3 really lame songs). It definitely gets me pumped up to ride everytime I see it! A must have for any freerider's collection.
one of the best.......2007-01-12
Big D at freeride entertainment has done it again. This is one of my favorite biking films and covers a broad spectrum of freeriding. From Northshore and whistler to utah and parts of europe. All the big names are back for another round in Flying High Again. Great opening scene, great camera work, and as always spectacular jumps and stunts by the worlds best. I definetly recommend this title and all the other New World Disorder films. A must buy for any serious biking fan. You will NOT be disapointed!!!
Ok if you are a Satan worshiper.......2007-01-03
First of all, the DVD that I received has obvious defects on the surface of the main movie disc. Yes, it does play, but NOT very well. No Q&A Freeride Entertainment?
Second. There is an underlying theme to this film which I find EXTREMELY disturbing, and if you've watched this DVD you know exactly what I mean.....
IE: Evil looking demons and fallen angels as your backdrop, with satanic looking red, black, fire graphics, not to mention all of the songs you chose for your soundtrack: Hell is for children, Marily Manson songs etc. etc. Also, I wish I would have counted how many times I viewed a rider or spectator holding up the devil sign on these discs.
Look elsewhere folks.
