Move over, Vin Diesel, because The Transporter, Hong Kong action veteran Corey Yuen's English-language directorial debut, is revving up to steal your thunder. As the other top-billed action star to emerge in 2002, British hunk Jason Statham--previously seen in Snatch, Ghosts of Mars, and The One--plays a hard-driving courier for well-heeled underworld clients. He follows simple rules: (1) Stick to the deal; (2) Don't ask names; and (3) Don't look in the packages he transports. All's well until he violates rule 3, discovering a Chinese beauty (Qi Shu) in the trunk of his tricked-out BMW, and foiling a deadly plot to smuggle Chinese slaves through the port of Marseilles. The first hour is ass-kickin' fun, and the stuntwork is impressive throughout, even as the plot degenerates into a predictable series of bone-breaking showdowns. Statham boasts an appealing combination of brains and brawn, suggesting the suave versatility of a promising career. Coproduced by action auteur Luc Besson and filmed on dazzling French locations, The Transporter is an action fan's delight. --Jeff Shannon

Some Rules Should Never Be Broken..........2007-09-10
'Some Rules Should Never Be Broken' could have easily been a tagline used in the advertising for this movie. Sometimes when we break the rules the consequences really hit us hard, which is the case for the main character Frank Martin, in the Cory Yuen (acclaimed Japanese action film director) directed surprise smash hit "The Transporter" starring Jason Statham.
"The Transporter" focuses on ex-special forces soldier Frank Martin (Jason Statham) who makes a living transporting various items for high-paying clients who value timeliness, reliability, and above all else, secrecy. He is a man whose life is dictated by a strict set of rules that he abides by; however, on his most recent job Frank makes a costly mistake. He breaks what could be called his 'Cardinal rule', the one that dictates the transporter is to never open the package he is delivering. But once the rule is broken there's no going back. Now, Frank finds himself on the run with the very package he was assigned to deliver, a young Asian girl who has been trailing an international slave trading ring, and he must summon all of his training if both himself and his package are to survive the pursuit.
I'll be honest, when this movie was first advertised to arrive in theaters, I really didn't give much thought to seeing it. There didn't seem to be all that much appeal to my tastes in the movie. To me, I thought it was just another mindless action flick with little to no story, having one action scene after another being held together by flimsy dialogue that wouldn't have even been acceptable by B-movie standards. So, needless to say I merely forgot about the movie for quite some time, until I happened to catch a glimpse of the trailer for the sequel. What caught my eye with this preview was the fact that if this kind of movie was getting a sequel, then maybe there was more to the original film than I had given it credit for. So, shortly before the release of the sequel, I decided to break down and rent "The Transporter" figuring if nothing else, it will distract me for at least 90 minutes, and who knows maybe I'll even be entertained on some level. After all, someone must have thought the original was pretty good if it warranted a theatrically released sequel rather than one that is straight-to-DVD as most sequels of this variety would have been.
The story for "The Transporter" isn't deep by any means, lets not kid ourselves about that. Even though it's not all that original, and contains a basic plot that has been used countless times before, the dialogue was surprisingly well-written, and the fights were flat-out impressive during some of the action sequences, that you easily overlook the simplicity of the story. Of course, when watching a movie such as this, you really aren't looking for something all that complicated, so there are times when simplicity is the better way to go, and this movie is definitely one of those times.
But this movie would have been nothing if not for the charismatic screen presence of the movie's lead, Jason Statham ("The Italian Job"). Statham brought such an easy going attitude to the character of Frank Martin, when coupled with his intense charisma and screen presence, he took what was a run-of-the-mill action flick and elevated it into a hugely entertaining and memorable action movie that thrills audiences from start to finish. The supporting actors were mostly solid in their performances, all the characters were heavily cliched, but some of the actors appeared to take it upon themselves to add depth to their characters, allowing for a much more enjoyable experience. It's no doubt in my mind that they were the primary reasons that this movie wound up becoming a big hit in theaters, raising this film above the mediocrity it was most likely destined for.
Regardless of how good the actors or the story for any action movie may be, the movie will be nothing if it doesn't feature impressive action sequences that blow the audiences socks off. Which is exactly what many of the numerous action scenes do in "The Transporter", and what's more impressive is that Jason Statham performed a majority of all his stunts. With his intense screen presence that can't be ignored, and his impressive athletic ability as showcased in the numerous fight/stunt sequences it's easy to see why Statham is quickly becoming Hollywood's newest action hero.
If you are a fan of martial arts movies, action films from the likes of Steven Seagal and Jean Claude Van Damme, then "The Transporter" is a movie that will be of great interest to you. And in my opinion, will entertain you ten times more than any of Seagal or Van Damme's efforts from recent years, plus the acting and storytelling are better than most entries are in this genre.
"The Transporter" is rated PG-13 for violence, language, and sensuality.
Not much of a let down but fun to watch.......2007-08-30
The opening third of the flick is by far the best part. Frank Martin lives by his three rules: never alter the deal, no names, never open the package. Up until he breaks one of his rules the movie is an interesting look at a man who lives by his own terms in an extremely violent and dangerous portion of the world. Unfortunately after he finds the girl the movie breaks down into a series of cliches and explosions that are less interesting.
I have liked Jason Statham a lot not just in those English gangster movies but in "The One" with Jet Li and John Carpenter's "Ghosts of Mars," he deserves to be a star in his own right and this movie co-starring a vehicle should have been the right vehicle for him. It's a shame he was given so little to do, aside from kicking the crap out of many people, which he does quite handily. There's a lot of talk about "rules" in this movie and the movie itself obeys the rules of martial arts onscreen, one being that when the hero is facing a bunch of bad guys, they're only allowed to attack him one or two at a time, and they're not allowed to have guns unless they stand so close that the hero can disarm them. Jackie Chan's classic shtick of picking up any handy item to use as a weapon is alive and well here, likewise Chan's trademark element of farce/slapstick, e.g. the oil-slick brouhaha. And we have death-defying stunts galore and tire-squealing car chases and all sorts of goings -on. Yet somehow Mr. Statham himself seems to get lost in the proceedings.
It's really not his fault. His character is very sketchily written, the plot seems to have been made up as they went along a la "Casablanca," and the desired chemistry between him and the Chinese heroine just doesn't happen. I don't know who the actress is or what she did previously, and she's, you know, cute and all that, but she just did nothing for me whatsoever, and apparently not much for Jason Statham either. She's no Bai Ling, let's say, much less a Lucy Liu or Kelly Hu or--dare I mention the name--Michelle Yeoh aka Michelle Kwan. She's a cypher and even the writers seem to have grasped that; look how long they keep her bound and gagged onscreen to try to generate some fetishistic interest in what's happening with her. "The Big Hit," another movie with a kidnapped Chinese chick falling for the kidnapper, only took about five minutes to generate the romantic oomph that his one never really achieves. The movie doesn't even bother including the usually obligatory closing shot of the hero & heroine alone together, as though acknowledging they were never really an item. Bottom line, I did enjoy this it's a solid action flick with a lot of high-powered stunts and a winning performance by Jason Statham in the lead, though one wonders what sort of movie would have resulted had Frank just closed the trunk again.
The Transporter (Blue Ray).......2007-08-23

So we were very disappointed
don't break the rules.......2007-06-20
The Transporter is Jason Statham's first big solo role in a movie, and it is a success with the followups of Transporter 2, Crank, and the anticipated upcoming film "War", where he fights one on one against Jet Li. Jason has participated in several films before Transporter in somewhat lesser roles such as "The One" and "The Italian Job", but the Transporter finally lets this man shine - and he brings a character to the screen - Frank Martin - who is intelligent, skillful, strong and one downright cool guy.
The movie has a good and promising beginning, showing off the cool factor of Frank Martin immediately. Followed quickly by an intense car chase scene, the movie never lets up after that - whether it be action or suspense. The story is not too interesting, but it is put together well. Frank discovers that a package he is transporting is carrying a live body inside. Frank's "tough-guy attitude" is worn down and he breaks his own rule by opening the package. The receiver of the package is no dummy, and realizes that Frank broke the rules and has his car destroyed. Frank, fortunately absent from his car during the explosion, seeks revenge but ends up with company along the way by accident - the girl inside the package. From here the story begins to take off as Frank becomes entangled in the situation all the more.
While there isn't a tremendouns amount of action, the spacing of action works well enough. The final 20 minutes are huge, easily containing the best scenes in the movie. I especially liked the fights in the bus garage and the final highway truck scene which reminded me very much of the truck scene from "Raider of the Lost Ark".
Transporter is a great movie for Jason Statham. I really enjoy this guy, and see a good future for him. His martial art skills are truly entertaining, as is his stunts and acting. This is an hour and half of just great relax entertainment.
The Transporter in Blu-ray: Action, Suspense, Romance and Fast Cars!.......2007-05-29
I loved this movie! The story was new and creative! If you like action movies and actor Jason Statham, you'll love this movie. Filmed in the French Riviera!
Video-Blu-ray: This movie enjoys a good transfer-not perfect- but good! You still see some video noise and image grain. Overall, Just slightly better than the SD in term of details with extra grain.
Audio: simply impressive!
Bottom line: You can't go wrong with this one! Action, suspense, romance and fast car chases. If the image grain bothers you, try the SD version-it's not as grainy.

Transporter 2 knows what its audience wants and--like its title character--it delivers. This is a movie that has not only a fight choreographer but also a car stunt choreographer; a movie in which a female assassin wears nothing but a bra and panties because, presumably, additional clothing would be too cumbersome; a movie in which crashing through a concrete wall in order to leap over a four-lane street will not even rumple the hood of the hero's car; a movie in which a drunken supermodel, after her advances are chastely and gently rebuffed by the hero, says "Thanks for the respect--that's what I needed most"; a movie, in short, for those who liked the first Transporter but found it too subdued and character-driven. Jason Statham (The Italian Job) reprises his role as Frank Martin, a perhaps overly diligent chauffer who will break bones if his duty is impeded. The sheer glee with which Transporter 2 casts aside logic, probability, and the laws of physics is infectious. If the sequence in which Frank flips his car upside-down in order to detach the bomb attached to his undercarriage doesn't reduce you to intoxicated giggles, well...you're watching the wrong movie. Transporter 2 is utterly shameless, unstoppably ridiculous, and completely enjoyable. Also featuring Amber Valetta (Hitch), Jason Flemyng (Snatch), and Matthew Modine. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Jason Stratham returns in his signature role as ex-Special Forces operative Frank Martin aka "The Transporter." Now retired from his chosen profession of moving dangerous goods with no questions asked, he makes a living driving for a wealthy family in Miami, Florida. But when their young son is abducted, Frank must use his battle-tested combat skills to save the boy and thwart the kidnapper's nefarious master plan.
Customer Reviews:
Good action with some silly effects.......2007-09-06
I was not much of a fan of the original The Transporter (Special Delivery Edition), a film which had similar elements to this sequel, but by the end of the movie had pushed itself to such ridiculous levels of disbelief as to leave you rolling your eyes. "Transporter 2" is also patently ridiculous, but this time director Louis Leterrier (who did not direct the original) manages to keep the movie flowing and it's transferable fun manages to overpower the moments that lead our rational brain to say "What the . . ".
Once again, Jason Statham is Frank Martin, a 'Transporter', who moves a customer's valuables from one location to another. He asks no questions about his cargo, keeping to a code that allows him professional detachment. Frank has taken up a temporary job to help out a friend by transporting the son of a U.S. Senator (Mathew Modine). Frank has taken a liking to the boy (Hunter Clary), while his mother, Audrey (Amber Valletta), has taken a liking to Frank. In the midst of this, an international thief for hire, Gianni (Alessandro Gassman), assisted by his borderline dominatrix associate, Lola (Kate Nauta), have kidnapped the son, Jack, with the intention of holding him for ransom, and also making it appear that Frank had a hand in it at the same time. Frank escapes the kidnappers, only to start to believe that there is more to the kidnapping than meets the eye.
"Transporter 2" is one of those films that should come with the warning label to check your brain at the door. Lots of things happen in "Transporter 2" that are outside the boundaries of reality. Cars defy gravity, human beings perform incredible stunts and survive and people are often in the right place at the right time. Yet, the film has a strong charm that is hard to ignore. A lot comes from the presence of Jason Statham. He is all business as Frank Martin, and he cements the film with his no-nonsense attitude. Statham is the epitome of cool in this film, and that is just what it needs. We can't not help but root for this man at the center of the film, and our interest in seeing him pull himself out of his scrapes is at times just plain lifting. Alessandro Gassman has just the right amount of boldness to be fun as the villain and Kate Nauta seems to be channeling a punk rock superstar as a deadly, but sexy assassin.
The film's action, while borderline impossible, is well-staged. Unlike many recent action films that over-edit their action, director Leterrier keeps everything clear and the running. The fight scenes, choreographed by fight-master, Corey Yuen, are as good as anything in recent martial-arts action movies, with a lean towards slightly more realism than, say, Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
If you are looking for some entertaining action then this is it, just don't believe everything you see.
Too Ridiculous to Enjoy.......2007-09-04
The action was so ridiculous and unbelievable it became absurd. Just make him Superman in Transporter 3 with a flying indestructible Audi that defies all laws of physics.

This is an excellant movie and have watched it twice so far, and will be watching it again and again Real Thriller
You gotta be kidding me!.......2007-08-08
This was a horrible movie. It wasn't so much the acting, but the directing that killed it. Completely unbelievable action scenes mixed with horrible special effects. This movie was more of an ad for Audi than anything. That car was totaled at least 3 times and still looked perfect at the end of each scene. The plot was unbelievable, so many loose ends that made no sense. Some of the action scenes were a little Jackie Chan-ish, so not that bad.
To sum up, save your $20 and buy a better movie, like Revenge of the Nerds 3 (Sarcasm there folks)
still transporting some fun.......2007-07-02
Jason Statham returns again as the cool transporter, this time involved in a less dangerous transporting business - the driver for a wealthy and famous Miami family. The action and choreography are still as cool as the beautiful scenes of Miami, but the characters and CGI useage hurt this sequal just a tad, thus making it slightly less entertaining than the first Transporter.
So on the positive note, Jason Statham is still wonderful in this sequal, fun to watch, and just down right cool to say the least. The action scenes are fun, and there is still some martial arts to please. The story is inetersting - at times - and the cinematogrpahy of beautiful Miami makes one want to starting earning the bucks to live in such a gorgeous place.
On the down side, the charcaters - especially the villains - are not nearly as enjoyable as the first film. The boss is rather average, but its his ridiculously skinny girl, who's always in the heat of action, that is somewhat distracting and not in a pleasant manner, despite her skimpy outfits. The CGI, which was rarely used in the 1st film, is more abundant this time, and is very obvious when used. Some of the action scenes are so wild, only CGI could be used to execute them. Unfortunately, they look too fake at times, especially they airplane which just happens to be the climax scene of the film. It was cool to see Frank (Jason Statham) and the bad guy fight it out inside a plane that was doing loopies, but it also ment no cool choreography for this final fight. Fortunately, there are some other scenes in the film that show off Corey Yuen's great choreographing.
Overall, a good action film that will succed in action entertainment, but don't expect a "great" action film. Jason Statham is the best part of Transporter 2, the rest is average. 3-1/2 stars overall.

Martial arts action at it's best!.......2007-01-11
In The Transporter 1 + 2 the stunts are out of this world. Just remember it is an ACTION MOVIE... it takes fight scenes, firepower and character beyond the real world. Jason Statham is a great actor and he is also a highly skilled martial artist. You will also enjoy the adorable Taiwanese actress/model, Shu Qi. This movie is a must have for any action movie fan and a real man's movie. VERY ENTERTAINING!

Customer Reviews:
Unfortunately we can not play this on our DVD we dont have Blue Ray or HD

I was not much of a fan of the original The Transporter (Special Delivery Edition), a film which had similar elements to this sequel, but by the end of the movie had pushed itself to such ridiculous levels of disbelief as to leave you rolling your eyes. "Transporter 2" is also patently ridiculous, but this time director Louis Leterrier (who did not direct the original) manages to keep the movie flowing and it's transferable fun manages to overpower the moments that lead our rational brain to say "What the . . Once again, Jason Statham is Frank Martin, a 'Transporter', who moves a customer's valuables from one location to another.
The Transporter 2.......2007-08-23

Galaxy Police.......2007-03-26
In my opinion, this has got to be the funniest part of the whole series of Tenchi Muyo! Seina Yamada has extreme bad luck with every step he takes in life, but it seems it's a good thing for finding pirates. To top it off with Seina Yamada's sidekick robot, NB, is outstandingly funny. How they came up with this character is beyond me, but it helps the series a hell of a lot.
On the real, I watch different episodes of this box set every day, for a great laugh. I wouldn't suggest this for kids though as it seems to be for a much more mature audience. Standout episodes in my opinion are the training episodes at Amane's house, when he meets Neju, when he goes back to earth and visits Tenchi and his roomies, and the episode where he gets his first paycheck as a captain. This show is absolutely hilarious. The only part I didn't like about the series is that they changed the voice actress for the original Ryoko. The original voice suits her best in my opinion. Besides, that one only flaw, this is a great series and I would recommend it to anyone who is of a mature age, who loves to laugh at animated comedy. Peace!
Tenchi Muyo! GXP: Galaxy Police Transporter.......2006-11-06
well it was better than some people put it out to be i liked it but it ended kind of wierd it kind of left you hanging for a sequel but the sequel might be a little better of some points the set is mad for the younger age i do recomend it for some younger class even though it has some points where the adult class might like frown on. but it was good and i recommend it to everyone who is a anime fan
Your GP Licence has expired!!........2006-08-27
You may or may not agree with me, but not every Anime ever made is great. The cover art on both of the box & cases are pretty much the greatest thing out of this 26 episode series. I might seem a little hoarse, but this show is nothing compared to the first two original Tenchi shows "Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-ohki" & "Tenchi: Universe". I didn't count "Tenchi In Tokyo" because that series is not as the first two. I will admit that the show is good & interesting in the first 14 episodes, after that with the reunion of the original Tenchi cast, of course with a all new voice cast, which totally kills it, for me at least. The storys on episode 15-26 are pointless, & the missons they have in space are not as funny as "Tenchi Universe" was. The show ends of course with a incomplete wedding that actually makes you want more of this show. There's no real point to this series & Siena, the star of the show, isn't really special & doesn't really have a reason for being in space. This show costs to much money for the exacted same thing that you have bought in volumes. All the disc contain the exacted same thing on them too. There is no special features except for previews & short bio's on some of the cartoon cast members. This show is in English, & does not have subtitles for the signs that are spelled in Japanese, so most of the time you have to imagine what the signs say, & it gets pretty ignoring at times. However if you can't hear, they have subtitles for that also known as Closed Captioning. The reason this show is not cheap is because they have eight disc all together, you see that's where they get you, disc 2-8 contain only three episodes on each disc, which is a waste of disc space, but I guess to make money you have to spread it out. There is alot more wrong with this series but I don't feel like getting into it all because you'll be here forever. Overall I give this series a 3 1/2 out of 5.

Funimation Tenchi Muyo is much better.......2006-06-21
b Audio and Video: /b Funimation get's an A+ from me for this complete series. The dubs are fantastic not to mention the music and video quality. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a domestic creation! Seina Yamada always has bad luck but that changes when he meets cute alien girls.
If y'all love Tenchi Muyo GXP then I perfer y'all get "Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki - Here Comes the Bride" movie.

"Transporter 2" is also patently ridiculous, but this time director Louis Leterrier (who did not direct the original) manages to keep the movie flowing and it's transferable fun manages to overpower the moments that lead our rational brain to say "What the . . ".
