Thelma & Louise is a feminist manifesto writ large on the big screen, a smart and funny gender reversal of the standard Hollywood buddy formula, a road movie extraordinaire, with characters who became instant cultural icons. No matter how you define it, Ridley Scott's 1991 box-office hit pinched a nerve and made the cover of national news magazines for tweaking gender politics like no movie before or since. Callie Khouri's screenplay overhauls the buddy formula with its story about two best friends (Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis) who embark on a liberating adventure that turns into an interstate police chase after a traumatic incident makes both women into fugitives; they are en route to a destiny they could never have imagined. The perfect casting of Sarandon and Davis makes Thelma & Louise a movie for the ages, and Brad Pitt became an overnight star after his appearance as the con-artist cowboy who gives Davis a memorable (but costly) night in a roadside motel. --Jeff Shannon
Description
Directed by action master Ridley Scott (Hannibal, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) from an Oscar(r)-winning* screenplay by Callie Khouri, Thelma & Louise is an "exhilarating" (The Washington Post), full-throttle adventure hailed as one of the best road movies of all time! Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis star as accidental outlaws on a desperate flight across the Southwest after a tragic incident at a roadside bar. With a determined detective (Harvey Keitel) on their trail, a sweet-talking hitchhiker (Brad Pitt) in their path and a string of crimes in their wake, their journey alternates between hilarious, high-speed thrill ride and empowering personal odyssey even as the law closes in. *1991: Original Screenplay

It is a chick buddy flick but done pretty well and with some nice twists and turns. Worth watching over.
THELMA & LOUISE DVD.......2007-07-09
I am a big fan of both actors and wanted this special edition for my collection
Received the wrong edition.......2007-03-19
The movie deserves five stars, but the reason I'm writing is because Amazon has this DVD mislabeled as the Special Edition when, in fact, it is actually the standard edition. I ordered the SE, but received the standard edition. I returned the item and told Amazon other reviewers had complained about receiving the wrong edition as well. I hope they correct the error.
A CLASSIC ROAD FILM.......2007-03-14
What everyone says about THELMA AND LOUISE is right on the money; it's one of my favorites. As for this Special Edition: Included are 1) the widescreen (2:35) edition of the film (best seen on a big-screen TV), 2) two commentary tracks, one with director Ridley Scott, the second with Geena Davis, Susan Sarandon and writer Callie Khouri, 3) deleted and extended scenes with footage markers, and 4) the original extended ending with commentary by Scott. The four making-of documentaries, multi-angle storyboards and musicvideo are not on this disc. Is there a two-disc version of this with the extra material?
You get what you settle for..........2007-03-09
The very best line in "Thelma and Louise" is when Louise tells Thelma, "you get what you settle for." I have quoted that line time and time again to my children, friends, family, etc. There are many such literary gems contained within the writing of this wonderful movie.
Virginia Slims specifically marketed carcingenic tobacco products to millions of women by promising them "you've come a long way, baby," but we really haven't come as far as we should have. Thelma and Louise illustrates that very point with fine accuracy and almost too-close-to-reality dialogue.
I was so enamored of this movie that I purchased it and then watched it with each of my three daughters. After the movie, we had a discussion about why this was such an important film. The ending of "Thelma and Louise" is unspeakably sad but it too makes a powerful point about the futility and frustration of a woman's lot, even in our modern times.
The movie is very well written and provides painfully honest portrayals of marriage, men, women and their relationships.

One of the most invigorating period adventures to hit the big screen in decades, this lavish, brilliantly directed film drew critical and audience raves when it was released in 1995. Inspired by historical fact and larger-than-life legend, the intelligently scripted story takes place in Scotland in 1713, when Highland farmer and clan leader Rob Roy MacGregor (Liam Neeson) is forced to borrow money from the duplicitous aristocrat Marquis of Montrose (John Hurt) to help his clan survive a harsh winter. When Montrose's vile henchman (Tim Roth) schemes to dishonor MacGregor and his wife (Jessica Lange) and take the money for himself, the rugged Highlander must take courageous action to preserve his integrity. What follows--along with some of the finest sword-fighting ever filmed--is a tale of courage and valor destined to become an enduring movie classic. Tim Roth received a well-deserved Oscar nomination (for Best Supporting Actor) for his indelible performance as the foppish but deadly villain Cunningham, and both Neeson and Lange bring an earthy, sensual quality to their passionate roles. Boasting a wealth of breathtaking scenery and high-intensity action, Rob Roy is further blessed by a splendid supporting cast (including Brian Cox and Eric Stoltz), and the lush soundtrack by Carter Burwell strikes a perfect balance of romanticism and vigorous dramatic energy. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:
Great movie. Has all the components of a good drama........2007-08-15
Great movie. A little bit dated as the cinematography has come a long way in the last two decades. All in all, this movie is definitely worth the money. Liam Neeson is awesome in this movie and Tim Roth plays a perfect British villain. You'll enjoy this movie because it has all the necessary components of a good drama. The hero, the girl, the villain and the British monarchy who couldn't care less about anybody but themselves. What a stretch... anyway, this is a good movie. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I believe this film earned an Academy award for best picture.
Good Period Piece.......2007-08-09
Kind of like Braveheart, based a little on fact and fiction. Liam Neeson is great, Lange never better. Good plot, Roth plays a great bad guy. Lot's of action and excitement.
Worth watching again and again.......2007-04-13
Were there ever two finer men to grace the screen than Eric Stoltz and Liam Neeson? My eyes were constantly doing battle over which beauty to feast upon! Ah, but I digress!
I liked this film SO MUCH BETTER than Braveheart (which, frankly, bored me to tears!). Magnificent pagan pageantry, music and dancing frame the story of love, loyalty, honor, bravery, integrity, family, betrayal and trust so clear, so artfully created, and with such breathtaking beauty!
Not to be given short shrift is the story of women as property, chattel to be violated at will in battle, those who pay the price for the decisions of their men. Rape as a weapon of politics and property (honor violated) is a crushing testament to women's place in herstory.
"Honor is what no man can give you, and none can take away," says Rob Roy, "Woman is the heart of honor."
Rob Roy is nothing if not a man of honor. He will not swear false witness even against a man he has no respect for, he will not lie, cheat or steal and chooses only men of honor to surround him. When his best friend disappears with money borrowed as an investment, he refuses to believe he has been duped. There is nothing but honor around Rob Roy MacGregor.
This becomes crucial when Rob Roy speaks the truth of his rage to those in power. To accuse him of lying would be ludicrous, as everyone knows Rob Roy MacGregor doesn't lie. It is the best defense anyone has against being disbelieved.
A beautiful movie. Powerful themes. Worth watching again and again.
Dejas huella.
Ridicuouls.......2006-11-22
The film was fencing about all right, until the last sword scene. To pretend that someone can halt an expert swordsman at bay by grabbing the blade of his sword with, of all things, his bare hand, so that the attacker can neither plunge it past his grip or pull it out, is just outrageously silly. That this simple point should have eluded most of the reviewers on this site is, to say the least, almost as amazing. It is so silly it just metastisises over any enjoyment one might have had of the whole. Incredible that any one seeing this Munchausen fib when it was shown at the theatre, wouldn't have risen for his seat whith a loud "Oh, please, come on!!"

The Dish, a good-natured and effortlessly funny Australian drama-comedy directed by Rob Sitch (The Castle), is filled with warm-hearted characters and has a factual hook that's irresistibly inspiring. This cumulative goodwill springs forth from the rural town of Parkes in New South Wales, where a 1,000-ton radio observatory dish is recruited to relay telemetry, voice, and television signals from the historic Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969. To make sure the dish delivers Neil Armstrong's "giant leap for mankind" to 600 million eager viewers, site director Cliff Buxton (Sam Neill, at his gentle best) relies on a three-man crew consisting of an American NASA watchdog (Patrick Warburton, resembling a bearish Clark Kent), a sarcastic engineer (Kevin Harrington), and a lovestruck math whiz (Tom Long) who's pining for the sister of the dish's rather dimly overzealous security guard (Taylor Kane).
Numerous other supporting characters add color to the proceedings, and crises arise (albeit briefly) when power outage, signal loss, and windstorms threaten to spoil Parkes's proudest hour. It all rates a bit high on the cuteness meter, but The Dish is so smoothly amusing that you won't object to its eagerness to please. By focusing on the Aussie locals, the film reminds us that the moon landing was an occasion of global unity, and pride in all humanity is reflected in the wondrous smiles of Cliff, his crew, and the citizens of Parkes. That they played such a small but pivotal role in this historical milestone is just one of many joys to be discovered in this delightful little movie. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
Feel silly adding to this uniformly favorable pile of reviews.......2007-07-22
A charming and surprising movie. The cast and script are superb. Sam Neill, as always, is a joy.
Two things:
- The film is an education on the often subtle but important differences between Australian and US cultures (I instantly noticed there are strong similarities to Anglo-Canadian life). This is a nostalgia-drenched trip down Aussie memory lane. Particularly interesting is how Australia of 1969 seems more like the US of around 1950 or even earlier. It's a bit disorienting and if you watch this with younger people you might want to give them a little background. This hardly seems like the same world also inhabited by the likes of Hunter S. Thompson and Jimmy Hendrix.
- The film is a good kick in the hinder about what that moon landing meant to all of us and how tragic it is that a generation plus has not seen its equivalent. The Apollo landings marked the end of an age of exploration that had begun 500 years earlier; none of us back then could have anticipated how disinterested and unambitious humanity would have become in only 40 years.
The Dish.......2007-04-10
This is one of those movies I watch over and over again and with my family. I am an amateur astronomer so it interest me to watch how we came to first land on the Moon and perhaps from an inside view of how things were done. All the actors do a great job of telling this story.
Fun and great history, too.......2007-03-25
Saw this in the theater and enjoyed it again just as much on DVD. It's 1969 and the people of Honeysuckle Creek, Australia are very excited because their satellite dish will be used to transmit television images of the first moonwalk to the world. There are lots of wonderful characters, from the lovelorn engineer too shy to ask out the pretty local girl, the redfaced mayor with the space-obsessed son, the NASA by-the-book American who's been sent to oversee the Australians, and the calm bespectacled leader of the Dish's crew. When disaster strikes in the form of a power outage, the town's chance for fame and glory appears about to fade away. Can the intrepid engineers save the day? There's actual footage from the launch and moonwalks which are still riveting almost 40 years later.
"The Dish" leaves us feeling good.......2007-03-05
I orginally discovered "The Dish" when a neighbor brought this unknown movie over to watch with us one evening. I was interested in the subject matter having taught Astronomy at the college level and also spent considerable time in Australia. So, we put it in the DVD player, and an amazing thing happened: We really were taken back to 1969, and our surroundings, and the people we were with, were as real as life.
This movie title provides no evidence just how much you will take away from it. As an American, it gave me a taste of the pride and sense of accomplishment we all felt as Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the moon. (Before "America Bashing" became popular, mostly among the members of our own media.) As a human being, it brought back that amazing day in July 1969 when we all broke the bonds of gravity and watched one of us walk on another planet (well, moon, actually...) for the first time in history.
The movie brings out all the small events, triumphs, and errors, that combine to make any great achievement possible. It tells the stories of the 'regular' people of Parkes, a small town in New South Wales, who, by doing their jobs, helped bring the images of the first steps on the moon to eyes all over the world.
It examined the most intriguing questions that needed be answered before we took the steps away from our Earthly home; like: "How do they go wizzz up there?" (Evidently remains unknown to this day!) Or, " Without the co-ordinates, how do we find the Moon?" (Answer; Look out the window!) And, "Is this mission really funded by the CIA?" (Answer: Not completely.)
From the NASA project manager who is terrified that he'll screw up his big opportunity, and the engineer who forgot to prime the fuel pump on the back-up generator, to the love struck mathematician who tries to ask the love of his life for a date and the mayor's 'radical' daughter who is convined that everything is a CIA/imperialist plot, the cast brings the characters to life and leaves the viewer with a real feeling of having been there sharing it all with them.
The sound track makes us feel like it really is 1969. The choice of music is perfect. You will really laugh, and there may be a few tears of pride and happiness as you watch the very believable cast bring 1969 small town Australia to life. One of the best movies I have ever seen. You'll watch it over and over.
A sweet-natured movie, well acted and amusing.......2007-01-14
Terms such as "charming," "sweet-natured," "gentle" and "good-spirited" may mean the kiss of death for some movies. It's also possible that the movie in question just might be worth watching because it is well-made, deals with a genuinely inspiring topic and features some classy actors. For me, The Dish falls in that category. The dish is a 1,000-ton radio telescope plunked down in a sheep pasture close to the New South Wales town of Parkes. It's purpose, as part of a NASA network, is to help track Apollo 11's voyage to the moon and to relay television pictures of Neil Armstrong becoming the first man to set foot there. Sam Neill as Cliff Buxton heads the team running the radio telescope. There's also Al Burnett (Patrick Warburton) as a NASA representative, Glenn Latham (Tom Lang) as a young and excruciatingly shy mathematician and computer whiz, and Mitch Mitchell (Kevin Harrington), who's job it is to see that all the mechanical functions work without a hitch.
We know Armstrong made it and we know television showed us his first steps. For those of us who were around, we also remember how amazing it all was. What we learn in this gentle comedy are the crises that happened. One morning, for instance, Cliff says, "Glenn, come here." "What?" Al Burnett looks at Glenn. "Every coordinate in this book has been changed," he says. "Yeah... I changed them," Glenn says. "Why?" "Because they were wrong." "Why were they wrong," Al asks. "Dunno," Glenn says. Latham steps in. "What about them were wrong," he asks Glenn. "Oh! Well," Glenn says, "the figures NASA gave us were for the northern hemisphere... and we're in the southern hemisphere? I can change them back but then you'd be pointing in the wrong dir..." "Glenn, it might be a good idea for you to tell us these things," Cliff says. "Oh, sure, I just didn't want to worry you... Cuppa tea, Al?"
There's the pride and enthusiasm that overtakes everyone living in Parkes, the visit from the U.S. ambassador and the Australian prime Minister that sends everyone into a tizzy, the near disaster that occurs when contact is lost with Apollo 11 and how an amusing appearance of imperturbability is maintained in public when everything from failed back-up generators, wiped-out computers and a gale promises one of the biggest let-downs -- no television broadcast -- for the entire world. For me, one of the reasons this movie works so well is because Parkes is an idealized small town where everyone knows each other, there are absolutely no secrets, and where the people have personalities which are calculated to be amusing but which aren't manipulated into becoming caricatures. Bob McIntyre (Roy Billing), the mayor of Parkes, is a fireplug of a guy who resembles Bob Hoskins. The technical aspects of what's happening may go over his head, but he's willing to give the benefit of the doubt to almost anyone. His relationship with his wife, May (Genevieve Mooy), is friendly, loving and pleasant to observe. We learn a little, and occasionally a lot, about the people of Parkes and we wind up liking them. This is comedy, but it's gentle stuff. When we smile at a person's puzzlement, dialogue or reaction it's because we appreciate the situation, not that we're enjoying our own superiority.
Sam Neil, smoking a pipe and wearing a sweater, provides the steady center of the movie. He does a fine job. The Dish is more or less based on a true story and we're told at the end that the radio telescope is still part of the NASA tracking network. The DVD transfer is first-rate. There are no significant extras.

Great movie.......2007-02-08
My daughter is 3 years old and she loves this movie. The songs are great.
Land Before Time Chomper Double Feature.......2006-02-25
Great price for 2 movies. My two year old loves them!
Chomper Double Feaure.......2006-02-17
This is a great movie to add to your collection. Mysterious Island made me feel sad, but I got over it. I liked the stupid things Ozzy and Strut did such as leaping off a cliff because they see a sharptooth's shadow, or even trying to steal an egg and accidentally biting into a rock.
I really emjoy this movie, I hope you do to.

Lush production design and sparkling special effects make The Haunted Mansion pretty to look at. Terence Stamp (The Limey), as a malevolent ghost of a butler, provides a suitable air of menace as dematerializes to and fro. Marsha Thomason (Black Knight) is lovely as a real estate agent hired to sell a haunted mansion, but in truth the ghostly owner of the mansion believes she is the reincarnation of his lost love. Wallace Shawn (My Dinner with Andre) and Dina Waters (Six Feet Under) make a modestly amusing comic pair as a ghostly husband and wife who bustle about. Jennifer Tilly (Bound), as a green disembodied head in a crystal ball, glitters appropriately. The movie also features endless clichés, futile attempts at humor, and Eddie Murphy. If you're looking for a movie based on a Disneyland ride, try the very clever Pirates of the Caribbean instead. --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:
Dull.......2007-07-23
Uninspired visual effects, a predictable plot, wooden dialogue, two-dimensional characters, lame jokes, a forgettable score, and merely competent acting combine to produce a noisy and frantic but utterly charmless movie.
Worth Seeing.......2007-04-02
After seeing Pirates of the Caribbean I was impressed that a ride could be made into a really good movie. And when I heard that the Haunted Mansion was being made into a movie I was excited. But then the trailers came out and I was even more excited.
It wasn't everything I had hoped for but its still worth a see and a rent/buy.
I like Eddie Murphy a lot and this was a movie where he could really shine as Jim Evers, the workaholic dad.
The special effects on this film are amazing, the Zombies really had me scared and I don't think that they could have looked much better. The work on madame Leota is amazing.
THE RIDE
The Haunted Mansion was one of those rides that as a kid I would always want to go on but somewhere in the line I would regret it and get out of the line terrified of what would happen if I would go through the front doors. But one day I did and it quickly became one of my favorite rides.
The filmakers were able to take a lot of the ride and put it on the screen
-Madame Leota has a major part, and the séance room is a cross between the ride scene and a gypsy tent
-The singing busts appear, singing a verse from Grim Grinning Ghosts
-The Portrait Gallery is an almost exact replica of the one in the ride, although the portraits are somewhat different from the ride
-The ghost duellists from the ballroom scene
-Jim has to battle suits of armor in the film. This is a reference to the moving suit of armor in the rides
-The Hitchhiking Ghosts make an appearance
This film isn't perfect but for people who don't want to fly to California to see the real Haunted Mansion this about as close as you can get.
A fun, amusing, visual treat for the whole family!.......2006-12-17
I really enjoyed this movie, as did the rest of my family. What appealed to me the most was the set design and costumes. Being huge fans of Halloween, we decorate extensively for the holiday and this movie is a great source of inspiration. Most importantly, it's just good family fun and a full-length Halloween themed movie the entire family can watch in contrast to all the slasher films popular that time of year that even I can't handle. The script really does a good job of including as much of the features of the Disney attraction in the storyline: The fortune-teller in the crystal ball, the singing busts, etc.
It's a little scary for littlest ones, but my kids could handle it OK and they first saw it at ages 1, 2 and 5! They are now 4, 5 and 8, and it continues to be a Halloween-time favorite. I should say, though, they've also seen all the Harry Potter films and both Pirates of the Carribean and weren't afraid of them...so if you've seen these films then you can gauge from them how your child will handle Haunted Mansion. Every parent knows their kids the best and can determine for themselves when their kids should see it.
I think those reviewers who gave it a low rating were unfairly expecting too much from it. Not every movie has to be Academy-award winning material to be enjoyable. This movie sets out to entertain families and it does just that.

Alot of effects, but no real scares!.......2006-10-20
The main attraction to this dvd is the bonus features it contains. There is one feature which lets you become a home programmer in choosing the paths to "Disney's Virtual Ride Through The Haunted Mansion." Quite a nice feature, especially for halloween time. The other bonus features of special effects, costume designs, production values, bloopers, and music video are plentiful.
The movie itself is cotton candy for the horror comedy buff in us all, and not to be taken seriously. I must admit there are no actual scares in the movie at all, and even the final climax levels off the entire production scheme.
What can I say? In the end, instead of reading the book. . . go on the ride!

Product Description
There is perhaps no more beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tale than the legend of a beautiful young girl fleeing her home because of a jealous stepmother. Now more breath-taking than any previous interpretation, Snow White: The Fairest Of Them All is a fantasy of truly epic scope. Wonderfully acted and cleverly scripted, this modern retelling introduces such classic elements as Snow White's miraculous birth and the mysterious reason why her father remarries after his wife's death. Miranda Richardson (Enchanted April, Merlin) stars as Queen Elspeth, the beautiful, yet vain stepmother whose desire to be the "fairest in the land" ultimately leads her to conspire to kill any rival for that title. Kristin Kreuk ("Smallville") stars as Snow White, the winsome young princess who is forced to run away into the forest where she finds protection and shelter with a band of peculiar little men. Snow White: The Fairest Of Them All is a magical adventure with such dazzling special effects and unforgettable characters that it will instantly capture the hearts- and imagination- of a whole new generation.

Don't expect to plunk your 4-year-old in front of Hallmark's Snow White and have her come away whistling "Heigh Ho"--it's not that kind of movie. Substitute a kingdom of woeful and broody characters (the fairest-of-them-all contenders and their king, plus a green and warty undead guy) for Sleepy, Sneezy, and company, and the picture, a bleak one, becomes clearer. Call it Snow White noir, but don't call it dull. The actors, including Miranda Richardson and Tom Irwin, suck you into their saga of lust and greed by making despair their specialty, and the visuals crackle with a creepy gorgeousness. Writer-director Caroline Thompson sheared this Brothers Grimm adaptation into shape using the same jagged-edged prettiness she brought to the script for Edward Scissorhands; a similar audience--one that can handle a little less light in its darkness--should stick around for Snow White. -Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Adaptation.......2007-07-29
I had forgotten Disney's adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale and even what "Snow White: A Tale of Terror" (1997) was like so this introduced me once more to the story. The first actor I recognized, even under all that make-up, was Clancy Brown playing a genie-type character that was never quite fully explained. He's best known as "The Kurgan" in the first Highlander (1986) movie. Since some parts of this version of Snow White didn't make sense, I afterwards reached into my library and reread the (for all practical purposes) original Brothers Grimm version. I first read "Snow-White and Rose-Red", having missed "Little Snow White" in their voluminous collection of 210 stories. Anyway, I'm fortunate to have read both stories because this Hallmark version follows the original while leaving out some things and adding others. For example, there's nothing about a poisonous comb here and the genie has certainly been added. Snow White according to the Brothers Grimm, is in fact royalty to begin with, unlike her portrayal in this movie. It also takes a bit from the unrelated "Snow-White and Rose-Red" fairy tale i.e. the part about a bear actually being a bewitched prince.
I sort of preferred the original Grimm version of Snow White except for the ending which is better in this TV version, and just about every other on-screen adaptation of Snow White there has ever been, I would imagine. Somehow, the evil queen being made to dance until her death in iron shoes doesn't fit very well with the flow of the story. The evil queen by the way, is Snow White's stepmother. She married Snow White's father after his wife died giving birth to their only daughter. The king's role is virtually insignificant in this movie and one would have to admit even that was probably expanded compared to his role in the Grimm story. Kristin Kreuk, a newcomer to movies at the time, plays Snow White and is an excellent choice despite her slightly oriental looks. I suppose considering Snow White needing fair skin, dark hair and blood-red lips (true to the tale); Kreuk was perfectly cast.
Unlike the Grimm story, she's not a child of seven when all the drama takes place but more like seventeen. She appears very innocent and sweet, looking not unlike the cute baby squirming around in her crib, shown at the beginning of the movie. One could not mistake that she was actually this child all grown up, or maybe not so grown up. Another difference between the original "Little Snow White" story and this one was the final attempt of the evil queen to poison Snow White to death. Here, she takes the form of her alluring "real" mother (played by Vera Farmiga) instead of an old farmer's wife, and feeds Snow White a poisonous apple that finally does her in or so it would seem. Overall a good film with very nice sceneries and beautiful people but a few loose ends that would have been better tied up. I would recommend that viewers also read the Grimm version of the story to get a better idea where all this stuff is coming from and also to have the opportunity to interpret the story for themselves.
A classic revisited with a touch more magic.......2006-11-04
The story of Snow White is one of the most famous by the Brothers Grimm, and this version by Hallmark is probably the most recent revision. It is also the one with the most magic, and is one of Hallmark's better movies. Snow White this time is born of by the prick of a rose on her mother's finger. Childbirth kills the mother and sends the father out into the cold winter with his daughter. Their desperation brings one of Satan's servants to life, who grants the father three wishes (what other number could it be). The first two wishes turn out well, but the third brings forth Elspeth, i.e. the wicked stepmother. Baby Snow White senses the evil stepmother immediately by crying when they are about to touch. What ensues is a lifelong rivalry in which Elspeth uses her magic to slowly take over the kingdom. This includes her mirror, which can fly. The seven dwarfs are not all short, but instead they now represent the 7 colors of the rainbow, and hence can travel across distances by "rainbowing" themselve. Animals of various sorts get involved, and the battle climaxes with the poisoned apple. Elspeth's evil is undone by the love of a prince, and Elspeth herself is taken down by her own evil creations.
The movie is about two hours long, and moves briskly along from one scene to the next. There is no singing, instead the music is orchestral in the style of classical Romance. The cinematography is great and the special effects are quite nice and believable. The overall story is the same as the original Disney version but many of the details have changed to make it quite distinct and unique. Overall, a good movie.
fair and slightly liberated.......2006-07-29
I saw this movie when it first aired on TV and have been looking for it again ever since (so it's been a while since I've seen it). As previously noted the visuals are very nice and the rendition of the story is not bad, but the key part for me was when the Handsome Prince declares his love for Snow White and she lashes back with a speech about how he doesn't know her, he's fallen in love with a vision from across the room. All her life she's been surrounded by people who don't look past the surface of her beauty...
Fairest movie of them all.......2006-06-17
Snow white is my favorite fairy tale, and this is my favorite rendition. It's far closer to the original tale than most, but it addsi many of it's own elements that give it a fresh new approach. I love it!
the best movie.......2005-09-12
this is kind of a remake of the original movie made.
the first time I saw this movie was when it was on TV in the holidays I thought that this movie was grand its one of my many favourite movies its based of the same charactors but the dwarfs names are the days of the week instead of doppy and all that when snow white was born hear mother died and her father was pore so a magic gennie thing came and granted them a wish that they will live in a castle and live happily ever after

pretty good.......2007-09-07
my daughter loves these movies, but they led to a house full of little plastic dinosaurs. also there are MORE of them.
Great videos for all ages.......2007-05-08
The land before time series is great collection of movies that do a good job teaching important principles to all viewers. I found it interesting to watch how the little gang of dinosaurs "evolved" throughout the series. I also found it interesting to see how the animation itself evolved through the movies. I, like a few others, did find the addition of songs to the series from the second movie on to be a bit of a detriment to the series...however some of the song are good and can be catchy.
Great movies, new info on new release.......2007-03-12
I have to say I love LBT even though I'm fifteen, but hey don't we all.
Anyway I have new info on a future release of Lbt its called: LBT 13 the return of chomper
can't wait to see it
Great Movies.......2006-06-22
I realy loved these movies when I was younger. The first 5 are the best, I particulary enjoyed #4 and #5. But I think on th last few they have begun to lose their touch. I think the newest ones, like a "The Journey To Big Water", which features a song about imaginary friends, are more marketed for younger preschool children. This may be because I am older. I still love these movies that I grew up with.
dont bother.......2005-12-06
Don't bother buying the whole volume set. Save money and only buy the first one. I agree totally with the other person who said this. The many other sequals are not as good as the first one. The first will always be my favorite and I love to watch it every couple of years to relive my childhood. Stick with the classic.

This direct-to-video sequel (the second) to The Land Before Time suffers from less ambitious animation, but the story is superior to the last film. This time, a meteorite has cut off the water supply to the Great Valley, causing inhabitants to bicker and bully among themselves. By contrast, Littlefoot and his friends are getting along just fine, and they leave the valley to go in search of a new water source. Directed by Roy Allen Smith, who made the The Land Before Time II. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
Fantastic movie and series for children of any age!!.......2006-09-13
The entire LBT series, and this movie in particular, deals with issues that all kids, parents and families are faced with on a daily basis (love, friendship, trust, just to name a few). The family issues include single parenting and adoption (both touch my family) and it is a great way for my son to learn that each family is different. In this particular movie, Littlefoot and his friends are dealing with "bullies" and it is a perfect chance for parents and children to discuss how to deal with other children who may not be as nice as they are. My son, who is almost 5, names all dinosaurs after the LBT characters, we have the CD playing in the car most of the time and he watches both of the Singa-a-Long tapes constantly. I know he learns something new each time he watches one of the movies because of the discussions we have. I cannot praise this series enough!!
The Time of Great Confusion.......2006-01-23
I couldn't understand if they were speaking language or else not. Sometimes I lay awake at night and wonder if this is how those graceful creatures spoke to each other. Although this movie was a bit too artsy for me, I still thought it was pretty good even though I couldn't understand what they were saying. Overall, this is my third favorite Land Before Time movie, only the seventh and the ninth are much better. Littlefoot still rules the Jurassic Period.
Kids will enjoy it, but might get the wrong message..........2005-10-10
I did not like this movie at all, and I have taken it out of our collection and put it in the trash. The only reason that I didn't like this movie is because of the bullies in it that pester Little Foot and his friends. It is negative, and have found my two year old son starting to act out some of the behaviours that the bullies do in this movie.
Get it if you wish, but I don't recommend it.

Chick Buddy Flick.......2007-08-09
