5 out of 5 stars Turtles counting off 1, 2, 3, 4.......2007-08-25

The Turtles are the best. I highly recommend these DVD's to anyone with children who thinks there is nothing good on tv anymore. My whole family loves the Turtles. THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ROCK!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars 3-Pak Ninja Turtles.......2007-08-13

The kids thoroughly enjoy the set. And I was impressed with how fast I recieved the package. Eventhough I did not request the express post, it still came all the way from America very fast. It was very easy to buy from this site and I will do it again.

3 out of 5 stars A little taste of nostaglia..........2007-08-11

I just recently bought this box set to relive my childhood. I grew up on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I watched the cartoon, collected the trading cards, etc. However, I knew that there would be no way I'd enjoy these as much as I did when I was a kid.

Although, I do have to say that the first movie holds up quite well. I still laughed as most of the parts I was supposed to laugh at, and the movie still felt dark. The second one not as much, but it is still fun. It suffers from that "dated" feel it has, particularly with the Vanilla Ice music scene that goes on for waaaaaay too long, and the poor "Tokka" and "Rahzar" costumes. And why does "Mutant Shredder" have clothes that fit him and spikes on his clothing that grew in size? The third one is slightly better than I remember, since I am less frustrated now than I was back then that no villains from the cartoon were in the movie. However, the movie still is not that great and is the most cheesy of them all. And Casey Jones' character was way underused.

In the end these are great for kids, but the adults will really only dig the first one - and only if they liked these when they were young.

5 out of 5 stars Great old classic.......2007-07-08

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3-Pak is an awesome buy. My wife is a real fan from when the turtles first hit the scene. The gift pack was just what she was looking for. I'd definitely recommend this selection to any TMNT fan!

5 out of 5 stars Blast from the Past!.......2007-07-09

As a kid watching this I was totally in love and seeing it again brought back some great memories. Its a wonderful story and also I found it be one of my personal favorite action/adventures. Go Ninja Go!

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable sequel!.......2007-05-02

After the events of the first movie, the four mutant ninja turtles have temporary shelter at the apartment of April O'Neil (Paige Turco) until they can find the pefect home for them and their master Splinter (voiced by Kevin Clash). The Shredder still lives and has stolen a cannister of toxic chemicals from the chemical plant that made the ooze that served as the turtle's origins for he uses it to create two killer mutant animals of his own named Razarr and Tokkar as only the amazing four can stop them.

Entertaining and action-packed sequel to the 1990 hit movie isn't quite as great as the original cult fave but still delivers action and humor even if it's kid friendly nor as dark as the original movie. Jim Henson's Creature Shop did it again with the creatures in this movie especially Tonkar and Razarr who maybe dumb looking but look realistic, David Warner and Vanilla Ice co-star especially with the song "Go Ninja Go Ninja Go".

This DVD has clear picture and sound with both widescreen and fullscreen editions with only one extra which is the theatrical trailer.

3 out of 5 stars Too Silly To Rival The Original.......2007-04-22

Hot off the heels of the original blockbuster (released barely a year after its predecessor), TMNT II: The Secret Of The Ooze rolls out in a promising fashion, taking us back to crime-plagued New York City, where our currently-sewerless Turtles make the unsettling discovery that their arch-nemesis, the Shredder, survived the events of the first film and is attempting to secure the radioactive contaminant which spawned them to create his own super-mutants.

...if you've seen the original film, this must sound a bit silly.
True, it's difficult to argue the meaning of silliness when the film is already based on four katana(sai, bo, nunchuko)-wielding reptiles who wear masks over their eyes, but this film's cult-status prequel proved that the Turtles could be taken seriously when handled as fighters against underworld crime. TMNT2, however, sheds much of the dark tone that effectively highlighted the original; seemingly taking the philosophy that sheer fun can fill in shortcomings out-of-context, in creation of a film which is almost definitely designed for an audience less mature than that of the original TMNT film.

It starts with the Turtles doing what they do best - fighting street crime and eating pizza - without much of a care, but when it becomes clear that the cause of their mutation is being sought by a returning Shredder, the boys jump into action, and into the spotlight.
However, the spotlight is likewise thrown upon the Shredder, an action which was not performed in the original film in a successful effort to keep Oroku Saki as demonic as a man could be. However, when presented in all of his glory, unabashed, the unshrouded Shredder looks like a dork in a purple jumpsuit and an oversized helmet - one might think he was to appear on "Power Rangers." He loses almost all of his credibility when he is hugged and cuddled, however unwillingly, by his two would-be-terrifying, imprintive monsters, Tokka and Rahzar. Actually, these guys don't have much of a chance to be terrifying, unless you wake up to their faces in the middle of the night: the realism of their costumes pale in comparison to that of the Turtles, giving the impression of simply two well-made Halloween costumes.

Enter further into a world where the Turtles are less on the streets (arguable, if you consider junkyards-turned-to-hideouts a part of the streets), where British professors become storyline-essentials, and where huge dandelions grow, and you've got yourself a taste of TMNT2. Better yet, consider the reptile quartet in a disco, dancing to Vanilla Ice's (check out his hair!) 'Ninja Rap' before blasting the Shredder through the air and a wall with the use of an amplifier.
Overall, the film seems to take its tone from the animated series, relying on a plot that's more sci-fi than the original and less on the hardcore, emotional trek that was its predecessor.

However, in its defense, TMNT2 displays no slouching when it comes to its kung fu - a cornerstone of the film: the fighting is as stylized and entertaining as ever, even when it incorporates Michelangelo swinging sausages instead of nunchukas and Donatello 'surfing' on a rolling chair. The choreography works as well as it did in the first film, though it offers no innovation. Likewise, all of the Turtles and other headliners are kept respectfully in-character, with Leo retaining his role as the disciplined leader, Raph as the emotional hothead, Mikey as ever the comedian, and Don...getting a bit more screen-time as the intellectual determined to uncover the meaning of their existence (which is a nice change, seeing as he was simply an addition to Mike in the previous film).

Nothing in TMNT2 exceeds much in any criteria, with the stumblings in the film's storyline bringing the feature down only to average...which is a fall from the original's quality, but not really a bad position in a world of otherwise sub-average action flicks. Though highly reccomended for youngsters whose parents will let them watch it, fans of the franchise shouldn't be afraid to give it a look, either (after all, it could have been worse). In a perfect world, TMNT2 would've outdone TMNT, or at least rivaled it for fan-pleasing value. TMNT2 comes off as a kid's film, more than anything else; though somewhat dissapointing, it's a fun (yet unnecessary) sequel to an ever funner cult classic.
