Description

A fraternity masquerade party aboard a chartered train turns deadly when a psychotic classmate sets out for murderous revenge.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars ...all stations to terror..........2007-09-10

TERROR TRAIN was one of two lurid 'slasher' movies that Jamie Lee Curtis starred in following her breakout role in "Halloween". The typical mix of mindless teens and a rampaging psycho is given a new twist when the action takes place on a non-stop trainride.

Pre-med college students (led by Hart Bochner and Jamie Lee Curtis) celebrate their graduation by enjoying a costume party aboard a privately-chartered train. As the party gets underway, the bodycount rises and the red herrings fly thick and fast.

This curious horror vehicle (pardon the pun) also features a strange cameo role for master magician David Copperfield. First and foremost, this was intended as a showcase for popular scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis; and while much better in "Halloween" and "Prom Night", she provides a fun performance here.

TERROR TRAIN doesn't bring anything revolutionary to the horror genre, but is a very fun ride nontheless.

5 out of 5 stars great movie.......2007-01-16

This is what true horror is all about. You really were on the edge of your seat. Real cat and mouse chase. I thought this was true slasher form.

4 out of 5 stars More 80's Horror.......2006-12-04

A classic horror movie, Jamie Lee Curtis was perfect for these movies of the 80's

5 out of 5 stars Forgotten slasher jewel!.......2006-11-03

It's New Year's Eve and college students are throwing a costume party on a charter train including Alana Maxwell (Jamie Lee Curtis). While everyone is trying to have a good time, there's a party crashing madman on board as he or she is out for blood.

Entertaining and scary low budget Canadian horror thriller that also stars popular magician David Copperfield and Ben Johnson as the conductor, this sometimes bloody slasher flick has decent acting mainly by Curtis and has good cinematography and atmosphere that gives the movie it's eerie mood. What i also liked about this movie is that it's one of the better post-Halloween/Friday The 13th films of the time and has a good ending, this is a must have for slasher fans and a remake will come soon.

This DVD has good picture and sound but the only extra is the theatrical trailer but it's still a good buy for your collection of horror movies.

5 out of 5 stars Top-notch slasher flick.......2006-10-26

While "Terror Train" may appear as your typical '80s slasher flick, it is anything but. Believable performances, gorgeous John Alcott (The Shining. Barry Lyndon) photography, a clever script, and nice direction from Roger Spottiswoode are contributing elements to the overall suspense that is created in this tale of a college graduation party held aboard a moving train. While everyone appears to be having a grand old time, several students are turning up dead. With all of the students wearing costumes, just who could possibly be the mysterious killer? Ben Johnson is his usual likeable self as the friendly, though stern, veteran train conductor, while Jamie Lee Curtis, Hart Bochner, and the relatively unknown cast turn in very nice performances. The quality in this suspense tale shines through.

5 out of 5 stars Very under-rated movie!.......2007-07-28

I imagine that a lot of people have never heard of this movie but this is a must see. It's a very powerful character driven movie centering around Jason (Sharron Corley), a teenager who is very bright but gets himself in one predicament after another. With being sought after by police for grand theft auto, having to answer to his mom for grand theft auto and cutting school, and even having one of his friends turn against him, life is anything but ordinary for Jason. Corley does a great job playing Jason and you have other solid performances such as Gabriel Casseus as Jason's best friend Midget and Saul Stein as the very intimidating Detective Roscoe. And the music in this movie is tight. A must see for the people who want to see something they've never heard of before!

5 out of 5 stars Well worth a look!.......2007-04-27

This is a well studied cautionary tale about the potential perils of car crime. Newark in New Jersey had a reputation in the mid-90s for all kinds of car crimes including carjacking at gunpoint and this film cleverly taps into that era. There was talk about lines being crossed by Newark police officers back then and the movie takes a look at that also. I found it difficult sometimes to decide where to place my sympathies. Yes, the car crime itself is mindless and destructive as anyone who has had their car stolen will know but in the movie, the police often come off looking no better than the criminals they are pursuing.

Gabriel Casseus and Sharron Corley give very impressive performances as Midget and Jason respectively. If you're a car enthusiast like me and, like me, you didn't see this movie when it first came out back in 1995, you might feel the cars (which are important characters in this movie as well) date it somewhat but it's not overwhelming. The best thing about this movie for me though is that although it doesn't preach or moralise, it shows very clearly that for young black men, a life of crime can only lead to a limited number of conclusions. That said, when tragedy inevitably ensues, it's still very sad.

Props to director Nick Gomez - he often gets us right into the cars and takes us along for the joyrides - and props to Spike Lee and his 40 Acres & A Mule filmworks for executive producing the movie. I'll be watching this one again and again.

Banging soundtrack as well, by the way. I might actually get it on CD...

5 out of 5 stars Very Helpful.......2006-03-09

I purchased this movie for my teenager son, hoping he could see the harsh reality of what could happen to him following the wrong crowd. This movie showed all the basics and then some.

5 out of 5 stars True to life flick.......2005-10-27

This is about urban life ever made. Nick Gomez carefully winds his tale into car thieves almost into greek tradgy. In the lead role as Jason, Shannon Corley shows great leading staus. Jason is played as a character who wants a better life but is caught up with the street life.

Joy Ride follows the familiar conventions of road-movie thrillers with enough vitality to make everything old seem new again. A confirmed master of neo-noir suspense, director John Dahl (Red Rock West, The Last Seduction) sets a consistent tone of humor and horror as Lewis (Paul Walker) and his black-sheep brother Fuller (Steve Zahn) drive from Salt Lake City to pick up Lewis's friend Venna (Leelee Sobieski) in Boulder, Colorado. En route, they play a practical joke via CB radio, inviting vengeful terror as an unseen trucker (voiced with exquisite menace by Silence of the Lambs villain Ted Levine) pursues them with relentless, homicidal aggression. Inevitable comparisons to Steven Spielberg's Duel fail to appreciate Dahl's unique talent for energizing B-movie formulas while injecting his own brand of rib-tickling excitement. While Zahn deserves extra credit in his first top-billed role, Joy Ride wins a badge of honor for everyone involved. --Jeff Shannon

Description

It's all fun and games whene two brothers (Paul Walker and Steve Zahn) take off cross-country to bring home a pretty college friend (Leelee Sobieski). But the jokes end when a prank backfires and they find themselves stalked by a vengeful trucker who won't give up his relentless chase until somebody pays with their life.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!.......2007-07-12

I remember watching the trailer for Joy Ride when it was first released in theatres. It looked creepy but I knew that most "scary" movies aren't all that good so I wasn't expecting much. Surprisingly, I found it be pretty good.

So what's this movie about? Two brothers pick up a female friend to go on a roadtrip. The car they're driving in is equipped with a CB radio that they decide to use as some sort of entertainment. As a joke, they pretend they're a lady looking for some action and they ultimately get the attention of a man using the handle "Rusty Nail". When Rusty Nail finds out that it was all a joke, he plots revenge and has the trio running for their lives.

Let's talk about the positives. First, the three main characters are played by relatively popular actors. The brothers are played by Steve Zahn and Paul Walker and the female friend is played by Leelee Sobieski. In general, the acting is pretty good and not over the top. Second, it's tough to come up with good storylines for "scary" movies but Joy Ride's storyline is fresh and rather entertaining. Furthermore, it makes the movie even more creepy because it's real and believable. What makes a scary movie really good is when you're terrified for the characters and this film had me wondering what I'd do in their situation. Lastly, the ending had me biting my nails in anticipation and it was perfect for the movie.

And what's not to like? Not much. The reason for the 4 stars is because I'm a huge horror movie fan and although a lot of scenes were creepy and obviously scary for the characters, it didn't instill enough terror in me to make me want to watch it over and over again.

If you're looking for a good thriller to watch on a rainy night, pick this one up.

3 out of 5 stars ENJOY THE RIDE.......2006-12-28

Paul Walker and Steve Zahn play two brothers on a road trip who make the mistake of their young lives when they make a fool of the wrong guy. Bored with the endless road between them and their destination, the brothers call up a random trucker on the CB and after a little role-playing hook the clueless Rusty Nail up with the imaginary Candy Cane. But when Rusty Nail finds somebody other than the girl of his dreams waiting for him at an out-of-the-way hotel, things quickly go from bad to worse, and before they know it the brothers are fleeing for their lives. And when Paul's lovely sort-of girlfriend, Lelee Sobieski, gets sucked into the game, Rusty Nail's revenge goes over the top.

Not bad as road thrillers go, JOY RIDE is pretty exciting and keeps the viewer guessing. The acting is quite good, especially from Lelee Sobieski, who plays a damsel in distress who is both vulnerable and strong, and the ambiguity of her relationship to both brothers adds an interesting dynamic to the plot. There's really no sense comparing it to Speilberg's DUEL--it's a much different movie despite some general similarities, and anyway DUEL is just much better. JOY RIDE is fun and suspenseful, but the humor often misfires and some of the twists are ridiculous and the ending is cheap. This is one of those movies I really enjoyed once but have no real desire to watch again--once you know how it turns out, there's no reason to go back for more. Recommended for a rental, but probably not a purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptionally Good Movie!.......2006-10-31

Wow! I was very impressed and surprised by this one! I give the special features 10 STARS!

I have wanted to see this one since it was advertised on television many years ago. For some reason, I just never got around to it. I rarely see movies in the theater anymore, and I just never got around to seeing this on DVD. Recently, I went on a budgetary required fast of DVD purchases. I just recently joined an on-line DVD rental service, and this has been the best decision I've made, since deciding to marry my beautiful wife!

I am a big Paul Walker fan. He really is a good looking actor, and his acting skills match his good looks. He's a man's man, with a super smooth style. I have a feeling he's a lady's man, in real life! And Steve Zahn is hilarious! I think both of these parts were perfectly filled by these two young actors. Also outstanding is the young female part, played flawlessly by Leelee Sobieski.

I sometimes don't get a chance to view all the special features on a DVD, especially when I rent it, but thankfully I decided to try to view all of the special features on this one. And I'm so glad that I did! This DVD included three or four extended and alternate endings. I have a feeling many movies film extended and alternate endings, but choose not to include them on the DVD. I say shame on them. I really appreciate when the company chooses to include it, as, in my opinion, it adds tremendously to the viewing pleasure.

There are also three commentaries for the entire movie. I listened to the one from Steve Zahn, which was hilarious! He's a really funny guy.

The movie was very well done. The cinematography was excellent! I have a component Video set up on my HD TV, and the colors were brilliant and the scenery was beautiful throughout. In particular, the colors of the Police cars and the Motel lights throughout was brilliantly done. I like how this movie featured a part of America rarely seen in Hollywood films.

A great October movie to rent or purchase!

4 out of 5 stars "Duel" For The Millenium.......2006-07-17

In "Joy Ride", the Director John Dahl (Last Seduction, Red Rock West, Rounders)pounds you right from the beginning and never lets up.

It's "Duel" updated for the millenium and for a contemporary audience.

Two brothers, Paul Walker (Fast and The Furious) and Steve Zahn (Shattered Glass) take a road trip to pick up Walker's college girlfriend (Leelee Sobieski).

Using a CB radio, they play a practical joke on a trucker who turns out to be the biggest movie big rig psycho since Rutger Hauer planted a finger in C.Thomas Howell's french fries.

What the trucker, whose CB handle is "Rusty Nail" does to exact revenge keeps the audience on edge for the film's 97 minutes.

(Note: one of the sequences in the chillingly directed and edited climax cribs gleefully from "Silence of the Lambs")

Dahl pulls of the the difficult challenge of blending scares with a few laughs with little effort..he's a wildly talented director with a taste for hip, off beat material.

Dahl directs from a script by JJ Abrams ("Lost") and Clay Tarver

The voice of "Rusty Nail" is supplied by the great Ted Levine.

Note: not long before "Joy Ride" began shooting, the studio decided it wanted a different ending, supposedly a few alternate endings were shot, one of which, running 29 minutes, is included on the DVD which also includes Eric Roberts vocal audition as Rusty Nail...Roberts obviously lost the gig to Levine.

4 out of 5 stars "Candy Cane, come in Candy Cane...".......2006-07-15

'Joy Ride' casts Walker, Zahn and Sobieski in a suspence filled horror film about a crazed 18-wheeler. The film, directed by John Dahl, finds our young cast traveling cross country. Lewis (Walker) is dieing to get a chance to pursue his 'friend' Venna (Sobieski) so when given the chance to get some alone time with her he jumps at the chance....theres only one catch. Lewis's brother Fuller (Zahn) was just arrested and needs Lewis to bail him out, which he does, and Fuller ends up tagging along on Lewis's jouney to meet Venna. Along the way Fuller and Lewis play a joke on a trucker using the handle 'Rusty Nail' (Ted Levine) and they end up biting off more than they can chew, resulting in a panic driven adventure where they never quite know what's going to happen next. The film really doesn't pick up til towards the end, and the final frames are heart racingly intense, and while the acting could have used a boost (Walker is one of the worst young actors on the screen) at least Zahn and Sobieski hold there own (moreso Zahn who is everybit hilarious as he is convincingly petrified). The film is not perfect, but effective and has quite a few jump scenes as well as genuine scares...wel worth a watch.

Way back in 1976, actor-director Ron Howard made a bargain with shlockmeister producer-director Roger Corman. It went something like this: Corman agreed to produce Howard's feature directorial debut, the 1977 Grand Theft Auto, and Howard agreed to star in another of Corman's pieces of drive-in fodder, the quirky Eat My Dust! Written and directed by Charles B. Griffith (a favorite screenwriter of Corman's who penned the original Little Shop of Horrors, among many others), Eat My Dust! is as wacked-out as anything to come out of the American International Pictures factory, and it is still surprisingly fresh and funny. Howard plays Hoover Niebold, son of a small-town, no-nonsense sheriff (Warren J. Kemmerling) and a prime candidate for dreary obscurity with his nowhere job and dull love life. Hoover takes a risk and asks out a popular girl (Christopher Norris), but after she demands that he steal the car of a professional racer (Dave Madden), the young hero abandons his innocence for a wild ride. Griffith hammers on the chase action sequences, bolting a camera to the car's hood to instill maximum vertigo in viewers, and constantly finding new and witty ways to jazz up scenes of speeding autos terrorizing the roads. But the real hook is the film's distinctive mix of youthful energy and comic irony, the latter exploding in Griffith's gallery of rural half-wits and neurotic, middle-class stereotypes. A whole cloth Z vision of teen rebellion writ large, Eat My Dust! is a corker. --Tom Keogh

3 out of 5 stars Fun 70s Car-Chase Flick and... the Luscious Christopher Norris!.......2006-07-22

This is merely another one of those many 70s car-chase films. It's fun & mindless and features some beautiful rural California locations. Plus, how can you go wrong with the likable Ron Howard?

The film was a box-office success for producer Roger Corman, which naturally led to the demand for a sequel. But Ron Howard didn't want money to perform in the sequel, he just wanted the opportunity to write and direct it (not to mention act in it). Thus came the hugely popular "Grand Theft Auto," Howard's first REAL stab at directing. The rest is history.

This flick is merely okay, nothing special; what makes it worth purchasing for any red-blooded male is the supremely gorgeous Christopher Norris (yeah, it's a woman not a man). She's got some incredible God-given curves, to say the least, and she shows them off well in her skimpy hot-pants!

Of course, if you're a "Brokeback Mountain" fan there's always Ron Howard. (LOL!!)

2 out of 5 stars Misses the boat.......2004-07-11

One thing you will always get when you watch a Roger Corman film, whether the man produced or directed it, is a healthy helping of cheese. It doesn't matter who stars in the film or what sort of genre film it is, you just know what you're about to see will exude that instantly recognizable low budget fragrance. "Eat My Dust!" probably ranks in the top ten of Corman classics, not because it is better than any of the other schlock productions carrying the Corman tag but because Ron Howard stars in it. In case you just arrived on the planet, Howard played Opie Taylor in the rural themed series "Andy Griffith" before moving on to an even more successful stint as Richie Cunningham on "Happy Days." Nowadays, he's a big shot director and producer in Hollywood. Ron Howard's film career may never have gotten off the ground if it weren't for Roger Corman casting the young man in "Eat My Dust!" Moreover, the actor used his success in this picture to pressure Corman into letting him direct his first film, the quasi-sequel "Grand Theft Auto" a year or two after this picture. The rest, as they say, is history. Regrettably, although I've had some enjoyable experiences with a few other Corman films-"Humanoids From the Deep," as an example-I found "Eat My Dust!" an exercise in extreme boredom. The only reason to watch the film in the first place is to see Ron Howard in an early role, and even then it is barely enough of a reason.

Howard plays Hoover Niebold, a rip roaring young man just aching to stir up trouble in his hometown. Unfortunately, Hoover has several problems in his life. He's the son of Sheriff Harry Niebold (William J. Kemmerling), which is a bad thing to be when you're looking to date town cutie Darlene (Christopher Norris-yes, a girl). Harry Niebold is always riding Hoover about speeding around town or not working at his job delivering toilet paper to local businesses. Things come to a head when Hoover turns up at the local stock car track only to endure a withering rebuke from his father. Annoyed, Niebold the Younger spots Darlene sitting with her parents. He once again attempts to set up a date with the pretty gal, but she brushes him off with a statement to the effect that Hoover doesn't have a nice set of wheels with which to ferry her around town. Well, Howard's character spies a very nice car just a few feet away on the track, a car that just won the race. For some reason never adequately explained in the script, Hoover hijacks the car from under the nose of its incredulous driver (Dave Madden of "The Partridge Family" fame) and roars off with Darlene and a few friends.

Hoover and company never go anywhere except through the streets of this small town, endlessly pursued by his father and a passel of inept deputies. The kids destroy property, wreck cars, and generally terrorize the town over the next few hours. In one series of scenes, Niebold and his friends level a small farm while trying to escape from a deputy sheriff. So many townspeople fall prey to this group of hellions that the police station fills up with screaming citizens demanding action. Harry Niebold doesn't have a clue about what to do with his out of control boy, so he generally sits around the station pushing his hat up on his head, sighing, yelling at people, and watching tow trucks haul in the shattered hulks of his deputies' cruisers. After an interminable amount of time goes by, Niebold the Elder and a few of the stock car drivers finally formulate a plan of attack. What follows is about what you would expect from a crash 'em dash 'em derby movie: lots of over the top chase scenes, dumb good old boy dialogue, and the requisite feel good conclusion. A subplot concerning Hoover's unrequited love for Darlene has not only been done better a billion times before, but ultimately goes nowhere here.

The opening credit sequence of the film, where we see a car tearing up a country road from the point of view of the driver of the automobile, and Ron Howard's performance constitute the only two worthwhile things in this movie. Well, Christopher Norris's character, who looks a lot like a young Nancy Allen, strutting around in short shorts helps a bit too. But a movie cannot subsist on two or three small points if it wishes to succeed. The main problem in "Eat My Dust!" is the script: a tired, decrepit old dishrag of a thing dripping with so many clichés that it bored me to the point of exhaustion. The editing was sloppy, too, as was some of the acting. Too, for a movie that relied on car chases and crashes, "Eat My Dust!" is almost chaste in crunching metal and squealing tires. I guess I expected too much. At least we get to see several familiar faces: Clint Howard turns up in a small role, as does Ron Howard's father Rance. Paul Bartel and Corbin Bernsen also turn up in bit parts. It's unfortunate in the extreme the film fails to make adequate use of its talent.

Extras on the DVD consist of a short Roger Corman interview conducted by Leonard Maltin and a bunch of trailers. A movie full of unfunny gags, barely competent car chases, and pedestrian production values, "Eat My Dust!" is a film that only Ron Howard or Roger Corman completists need bother with. Looking back on the experience now, I am sure I spent more time looking at my watch than I did at the screen. 'Tis a pity, I say.

5 out of 5 stars A boy and his car........2003-07-17

One fun thing to do with movies under the Roger Corman banner is to try to notice all the film school-y things in them. *Eat My Dust!* turns out to be an American B-movie hommage to Godard's *Breathless*, which itself was a French B-movie hommage to American B-movies. In this movie we're given the Godard-brand of existential, rebellious hero who's main aim is the pursuit of kicks. Granted, Ron Howard ain't no Jean-Paul Belmondo, but he'll do in a pinch. We're also given the exact-same type of Grade-A American b---h/goddess that Jean Seberg perfected in Godard's movie: but here, she has the added virtues of hot yellow short-shorts accompanied by thigh-high white boots. She can be counted on to take a powder when things start to become a drag. But director Charles B. Griffith adds a number of elements missing from *Breathless*, such as the insistence on creating an interesting cast of supporting characters (goofballs and wackos every one), as well as consummately executed scenes of slapstick action that's reminiscent of silent-film chase comedies. Although Griffith never really accomplished anything else as a director, he's brilliant here, starting with the hypnotic opening credits: the camera is atop a car's hood, giving us an unseen driver's POV as the car eats up the country miles in revved-up fast-motion. There are also some well-executed smash-em-ups: police cruisers sailing through the air; muscle cars barreling down a 500-foot hill with a 45-degree grade. The ending strikes a surprisingly bittersweet note. It turns out that Opie's afternoon of playing hide-and-seek from the cops will serve as an apprenticeship: awaiting him is the lonely, dangerous, but exciting life of the professional racer. But regardless of all that, the bitchin Camaro rolls on with the final credits, and that's the important thing. Altogether, *Eat My Dust* is yet another dim-witted masterpiece from the Corman Factory.

4 out of 5 stars Another good car chase movie........2002-07-24

Ron Howard stealing a racing style 1967 Camaro and running away from the cops led by his own dad. Very funny and original, cool car. Hot chicks + fast cars + good casting = good buy.

1 out of 5 stars Eat my dust, then vomit it up.......2001-11-16

The only thing holding up this movie is the legs of the costar Christopher Norris(yes, she's a girl),which is why I gave it 1 star. A half star for each leg. I recommend it to anyone in search of a (...) car chase film that uses fast motion technology and third grade dialogue. Sorry, this one's not worth it at half the price. I shudder at the thought of watching the other Ron Howard movie (GTA)I bought when fulfilling my dream of owning every car chase movie ever produced. Don't do it, stay away.

1 out of 5 stars New Jersey jive!.......2005-08-13

If your IQ is under 25, or you want to be a crackhead, this movie is for you!

    3 out of 5 stars Joyride Review.......2003-05-29

For anyone teaching a course to young actors, screenwriters, or directors, this pic is an excellent tool. The problems inherent in the pic are just as instructive as its shining moments leaving a great deal of room to pick apart camera techinques, how the use of a musical score can detract from or add to a scene, and especially internalization of motive leading to choices an actor must make to infuse life into what otherwise could end up being a stereotypical, two-dimensional character.

Tobey Maguire has built a very respectable career on his sensitive, understated performances, yet the raw J.T. offers insight into Maguire's ability to branch out into personalities that are not always the "hero." Though his relative inexperience does show through in places, the strong believability of his interpretation of J.T. clearly shows the raw talent evident in even his early work.

By far the most provoking performance in the pic is the underrated Amy Hathaway as the internally tortured and physically exploited Tanya. A solid character interpretation from start to finish, Hathaway only stumbles when the script asks her for unnecessarily gratuitous lust, specifically the silly romp-in-the-car scene with Maguire. On a contrasting note, during the powerful bedroom scene with the Mayor, Hathaway shines by deftly conveying a deep-seated anguish for Tanya's unfortunate situation that is craftily hidden during the remainder of her performance.

Also highly noteworthy is Benecio Del Toro. It is common knowledge that small-budget productions can offer a wider scope of interpretation for an actor, and Del Toro demonstrates this to the fullest extent. A master of subtle physical acting, this early role showcases the talent that blossomed in later years. Along the same lines, Christina Naify as Ms. Smith does a nice job creating a real person out of a small amount of material by exploring physical gestures and vocal patterns that make up so much of a human being's personality.

All of the actors, and to a large extent the script itself, are nearly annihilated in many places by the exasperatingly poor musical score. Instead of developing in the viewer a deeper understanding of the character's interactions, the score is often bad enough to be considered a true "groaner."

A must-see for Maguire, Hathaway, Del Toro, and those quirky Adam West fans, "Joyride" is more interesting as a study of technique than great storytelling, but well worth the ride.

5 out of 5 stars Offbeat, Entertaining, full of twists. Enjoy........2002-08-13

Produced in 1996, this film is enjoyable on many levels. Drama, comedy, thriller...
Tobey Maguire shows his star power. He seems to be having fun with the role of J.T. Likewise his co-stars Wilson Cruz and Amy Hathaway work well together as three friends trying to escape their various situations in life. Adam West and Steven Gilborn are cast against type to advantage and a nice cameo from James Karen also add to the enjoyment. Benicio Del Toro is hilarious as the deadly serious Detective Lopez and Kenn Norman is believable as the sheriff. Also noteworthy is Judson Mills as Redneck Joey. Lastly I have to say Christina Naify is a standout as 'Smith'. At once sexy and deadly, she plays her part exceptionally well. Thoroughly recommended. The DVD has no special features of note, with the exception of a filmography and biography of Tobey Maguire. The print is excellent and the sound crisp. Buy It!

Hey "SMITH"! I'm impressed. Talk about out of character - you weren't like that in '82! I guess you've come a long way since then. I'd love to see you in many more movies - you go girl! If you see this review, contact me at B'mont's alumni site (we're having a reunion 6/22).

This was an fascinating movie. The friendships and the reality of the move were refreshing and the fantasy was just as awsome. Oh and batman... too cool.
