From a visual standpoint, this CG feature starring the venerable '80s and '90s superheroes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is nothing short of slam-bang; the computer animation has a scope and look that transcends both the original comics and animated series and the three live-action features that preceded it. Writer/director Kevin Munroe creates a striking animated world for the four heroes in a half-shell to live, play, and fight in, and the action sequences are occasionally breathtaking in their speed and complexity. But where TMNT stumbles is its bland plot, which picks up after the last of the live-action features with all four teen turtles in disarray, and abandons longtime villain Shredder in favor of an industrialist (well voiced by Patrick Stewart) who recruits the Foot Clan (including Karai, played by Zhang Ziyi) to revive thirteen ancient monsters to aid in his world domination scheme. It's a simple and fun story for kids, but longtime Turtles fans will miss the wry humor and smart sense of irony of the original comics (created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, who gets an executive producer credit here) in this storyline. Still, for most adolescent audience members, such concerns won't matter a whit in the face of the abundant action. --Paul Gaita

4 out of 5 stars A Return to Form.......2007-09-11

I used to read the comic book "back in the day," watched the animated TV show and even the movies. Yes, the horrible live-action movies. My expectations were low when this movie came out so I didn't see it in a theater. After renting it from Amazon, I now regret that I missed seeing it on the big screen.

The animation is top notch and the voice acting is decent. What surprised me the most was the story. Unlike the live-action films, it wasn't loaded up with lame surfer jokes and slapstick. The story stayed true to the comic and captured the essence of what makes TMNT fun.

I highly recommend seeing this film.

5 out of 5 stars Not a timid success.......2007-09-08

I think everything in this movie was nicely presented with great editing and moved forward with a lot of grace, just as the live action films had been, but definitely with more allowance for the different scenes and effects. Mostly, I liked the story, and I think that it stands out among other animations. TMNT has all that someone would want from a story. I admit I was a little nostalgic going back to it, but it was a nostalgia I couldn't deny at the sight of this magnificent show of honor. From one scene to the next, there was no pausing to do something else, or anxiety, or any dislike for anything in it. And that's how I remember movies to be. Lately, it's just all going beserk. TMNT was a nice surprise, and it shows there are some dedicated people when it comes to movies like this. And Sarah Michelle Geller was a real surprise...she was right for this one.

5 out of 5 stars Turtles still rock after all these years!.......2007-09-08

LOVED IT!!! From the previews I thought it was gonna suck because it was animated instead of live action like the previous movies were but this movie totally rocked! I thought the animation was fast, colorful, and it made the turtles look really cool! I still love Mikey! He's been my favorite since I was like 7 years old. This movie was a little dark, which I loved, and the fight between Leo and Raf was the best part! I hope there's a sequel!!!

3 out of 5 stars Thank god this was animated and not live action! .......2007-09-02

This film is okay. It appeals more to elementary school kids at most. What's good about this film is the 3D animation and the voice casting of the turtles and April and Casey. The only voice that really bothered me was Master Splinter's. He sounded like he had a dry throat the entire time. The plot is a little weak. It focuses mostly on the relationship between Leonardo and Raphael which is a disappointment because it's supposed to be about four turtles not two. They're also supposed to find 13 monsters that have been around thousands of years and put them in a portal. They've been around for that long and some how haven't made the news. Anyway Leo's supposed to be a better leader so he leaves and we find him in Central America or somewhere around there in the beginning of the film. When he comes back everyone, but Raphael accepts him back. Raphael has been moonlighting as the Nightwatcher, a vigilante in the night. Some how none of the turtles, or Master Splinter for that matter, figure out that it's him. Not that many guys looking to kick evil's ass at night and since he's asleep all day and out all night what could he be doing?! Another problem is Casey and April. Casey is going around at night fighting criminals with a bat and a hockey mask. Raphael I understand. I mean you see him wearing cool metal armor and he's got martial arts. Plus two small knives which he's deadly with and a motorcycle. You san understand why he hasn't gotten killed doing this, but Casey is doing the same thing and doesn't have any of the advantages that Raphael has. He doesn't even drive anything. He just walks! How come he isn't dead? I don't know. April is first presented as an archaeologist which is believable, but later we see her fighting with a sword against thousands of ninjas. Her and Casey make it out alright for some reason. The turtles are in this fight too and them I do believe making it out alright, but an archaeologist and a tough guy against ninjas? Come on. There are two more good things though. One is the music. When you hear it in the movie it just fits in with the scenes. Particularity a scene in where Raphael, as the Nightwatcher, is fighting a little monster. The other good thing is the opening scene in which two armies are fighting each other. It's a cool thing to watch on screen. However, this film would've been better if the story was different. If they had begun the story with the turtles origins and had then face the Shredder ending with Leo's departure it would probably have been more entertaining. This film has some decent action and voice casting(for the most part), but it is a film you could live without seeing.

3 out of 5 stars Decent family movie.......2007-09-02

Nothing outstanding, but it was a decent kids movie, my 12 an 7 year olds enjoyed the film. CGI was very good and there was lots of action and fighting.

Great animation movie, you wont be disappointed. But I just wish that if it become a real movie, with real people, it would be a lot more interesting.

3 out of 5 stars Your wondering why I bought this with the score above?.......2007-08-28

Well... I'm a bit nostalgic for CG shows that Bomb. Tron.. The Last Starfighter.. Final Fantasy.. Young Sherlock Holmes.. Sky Captain.. and on and on and so forth. All of which I mentioned had wonderful potential in the exploitation of this new technology. And aside of YSH above, what failed them was the rancid undercook plots and characters. YSH failed because it was trying to tell a Mature story (Murder aplenty there) around a teenager. Bad idea all around. TMNT did not give enough time to the "villain" to appreciate his goals. Not enough time for the sub flunkies to brew a convincing reason for their objectives. The movie slams on the brakes much too often to give the viewer a smooth journey. Buy this if you too are a sucker for past CG failures.

5 out of 5 stars A shell of a good time.......2007-08-14

I have been a turtles since I was in elementary school so it was good seeing them come back to the new and old generation of fans. The movie is really good, it does not have a really deep story line since its not trying to be an oscar contender. Whats its trying to be is a fun action movie for the whole family to enjoy, and it delivers.

5 out of 5 stars I'll be showing off my HDTV with this movie.......2007-08-10

Quite simply, this movie looks absolutely stunning. If you own a Blu-ray player, you must own this movie. The HD transfer was done beautifully, and will make a great showcase for showing off the wonders of HD.

As for the movie itself, that's great too. Having grown up with the Turtles in the 80's, this movie was a must-see. As another reviewer mentioned, I wasn't too pleased with the scrawny look of the CGI Turtles. But I have to hand it to them, the CGI turned out beautifully and I hope there are more Turtles movie like this one to come. The story was sharp, entertaining, and witty. Every TMNT fan must own this movie.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing..........2007-08-22

The best test of the HD DVD format here is to watch the rooftop battle scene between Raphael and Leonardo and the sewer skateboarding scenes. AMAZING graphics. In scenes where the turtles are moving, the details of how their spots stretch is incredible. Ironically the one aspect that makes this movie look like a cartoon is the human actors/actresses, the turtles look more lifelike than anything else.

5 out of 5 stars Good Kid Movie.......2007-08-10

I passed on seeing this one in the theater, but I bought it for my kids. Its a computer generated movie, has a few recognizable voices (Chris Evens, Larry Fishbourne, Sarah Michele Gellar, etc), and its actually a lot different (better) than I thought it would be. I wont spoil it, but its a good storyline. The only negative thing I can say is that I didnt like the way Splinter's voice didnt match the character. It wasnt terrible, just not great.

Bottomline, the kids loved it... three times now, and it looked outstanding on my 720p telly. Its certainly kid oriented, but I found it easy to sit through as well. Recommended. (It has some cool extras, too. Alternate beginning and ending, making of, etc.)

The Turtles are the best. I highly recommend these DVD's to anyone with children who thinks there is nothing good on tv anymore. My whole family loves the Turtles. THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ROCK!!!!!

The kids thoroughly enjoy the set. And I was impressed with how fast I recieved the package. Eventhough I did not request the express post, it still came all the way from America very fast. It was very easy to buy from this site and I will do it again.

3 out of 5 stars A little taste of nostaglia..........2007-08-11

I just recently bought this box set to relive my childhood. I grew up on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I watched the cartoon, collected the trading cards, etc. However, I knew that there would be no way I'd enjoy these as much as I did when I was a kid.

Although, I do have to say that the first movie holds up quite well. I still laughed as most of the parts I was supposed to laugh at, and the movie still felt dark. The second one not as much, but it is still fun. It suffers from that "dated" feel it has, particularly with the Vanilla Ice music scene that goes on for waaaaaay too long, and the poor "Tokka" and "Rahzar" costumes. And why does "Mutant Shredder" have clothes that fit him and spikes on his clothing that grew in size? The third one is slightly better than I remember, since I am less frustrated now than I was back then that no villains from the cartoon were in the movie. However, the movie still is not that great and is the most cheesy of them all. And Casey Jones' character was way underused.

In the end these are great for kids, but the adults will really only dig the first one - and only if they liked these when they were young.

5 out of 5 stars Great old classic.......2007-07-08

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3-Pak is an awesome buy. My wife is a real fan from when the turtles first hit the scene. The gift pack was just what she was looking for. I'd definitely recommend this selection to any TMNT fan!

5 out of 5 stars beautiful movie in HD.......2007-03-25

warner made another beautiful HD transfer. I can't find another wrong, no grain anywhere. Just a perfect crystal clear image from start to finish. The cinematography will blow you away. Would give this 6 stars if i could. So far I find warner is the only studio willing to give HD addicts the best video quality possible. Some studios just throw a title on blu-ray and expect us to say, thank you for releasing it.

5 out of 5 stars True HD.......2007-02-15

Frankly i purchased this item just to know how a BD differ from a DVD on my HDTV using my newly purchased PS3. i chose this product cause it has a lot of natural & colorful scenes. the result was really amazing, visualy, blu-ray movies really surpasses DVD. i couldnt test the audio difference, cuz i only have 5.1 Sony decoder. the movie per say is a must see for all those who like action titles.

5 out of 5 stars Great quality, under-rated movie.......2007-02-02

Although not a box-office hit and factually inaccurate, I love this movie and would definitely put it in my top 10 favorites of all time. My wife just bought me a PS3 and I had to pick up a blu-ray disk to see the difference for myself. With SO MANY terrible, terrible movies available on blu-ray (Flyboys, Stealth, and Reign of Fire - the movie i consider to be one of the worst of all time - just to name a few), I decided to pick this up even though I already owned it on DVD. I had seen the movie in HD on DirecTV before, so there were no surprises regarding quality, but I was still really impressed when switching between this and the 480p picture produced by my DVD player. The colors are much more vibrant, the clarity is remarkable and it serves to submerse you in a movie that was already great as it was. As a huge fan of the movie as well as of HD picture quality, I was happy to pick this up at Best Buy for $25, but I probably wouldn't recommend getting this if you have it on DVD already unless you're a big fan. Now, if they could just get the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu-Ray...

5 out of 5 stars Amazing picture quailty.......2007-02-01

Well we already know about the movie so i am not going to comment on it. The most noticable thing about this Blu Ray release is the picture quality, its sharp, vivid colors, simply amazing. :) If you are looking for something to run as a demo on your new HDTV, this is the one. :)

I played it on my PS3 in 720p, its just great.

4 out of 5 stars Surprise, surprise.......2007-01-24

Whoa! This is a surprisingly good movie! Though based on a mishmash of actual events, the mishmash presented here works well. No, an American soldier was not sent to Japan to train the emperor's soldiers so that they could better fight the remaining samurai loyal to the dying Tokugawa regime. The man that Cruise's character is based on actually went to China, not Japan, or so I'm told (read The Devil Soldier by Caleb Carr). However, when the emperor took over Japan, after 264 years of the Tokugawa, shogunate-controlled Japan, there really were samurai that refused to abandon their way of life and philosophy. The samurai were not only warriors, but owners of a rich and complex philosophy and way of life that has been shunned by many modern Japanese (and picked up by Japanese mafia to some extent!) Many refer to the shogunate control of Japan as short-lived, which is interesting considering that the Tokugawa government lasted longer that America has so far! The Last Samurai is a surprisingly rich film, containing accurate portrayals of sword technique, mixed with hand-to-hand jiu jitsu, which is a martial art that real samurai practiced. The show is almost stolen by Hiroyuki Sanada, a Japanese actor who was one of Sonny Chiba's protégés. He was the star of Twilight Samurai, which is simply one of the greatest samurai films of all time. Sanada and Cruise have a slight rivalry going on, and the scene in which they confront each other with wooden swords (kendo swords) is one of the high points of the entire film. Watch and enjoy this heart-breaking film about a dying way of life. If you like it, then also check out When the Last Sword is Drawn, which is a Japanese film about the same events, made the very same year as The Last Samurai!

5 out of 5 stars SO much better than the new ones..........2007-08-23

I have a little boy who recently discovered TMNT, so I bought some of the new movies for him. I was disturbed by the content of the new ones- definitely inappropriate for a 5 year old, so unfortunately they got "lost." I was so happy to discover that you can buy the originals! They even say on the back for 5 and up, where the new ones are rated TVPG. Awesome buy, and it's fun for me to watch them again, too...now if they would only bring back the TMNT cereal...

5 out of 5 stars Old time fun.......2007-07-24

I loved this show when I was a kid and still love it. Even my little brothers love them.

4 out of 5 stars Some days it DOES pay to come out of your shell!.......2007-02-19

For a little under $9.00 on Amazon, you can get 12 episodes from the third season. I can't think of a better deal than that. Unlike other shows from the 80s that have lost most of their appeal today, the stories are still interesting and the jokes, while lame, are lame enough to still be funny. The opening sequence with the theme song is just as exciting today as it was when the episodes were originally aired.

Volume 3 contains episodes with Irma becoming a giant, Splinter and Shredder switching bodies, Donatello mimicking Humphrey Bogart for an entire episode, Shredder reversing the effects of gravity, April being mistaken for a princess, and a young kid becoming the "fifth turtle". Although the plot setups aren't quite as good as in seasons one and two, they still play nicely to those of us who grew up watching them.

Like the other TMNT Season collections, this DVD has no extras, but really 12 episodes is enough of a treat in itself.

4 out of 5 stars Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series.......2007-01-09

This is the old series which aired on TV in the eighties. My 22 year old daughter thinks it's great that her seven year old brother is now watching one of her favorite cartoons when she was little! Although he says the turtles in this series "look like babies", because he is accustomed to the sleeker, more modern look of the turtles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-Fast Forward, which is what is airing on TV now, he nevertheless enjoys the old series and owns volumes 1-4. I consider them money well spent!

I would have given this 5 stars, but the dialogue from the old series is really silly and not as well-written as the more recent 2 series and the movies which were geared to entertain adults as well as little kids.

5 out of 5 stars Great DVD.......2006-12-30

I really can't remember the episodes as a child, but I do remember that I would sit down to watch the Ninja Turtles; they were my favorite back then and still are now as a teenager. Out of the first three volumes, volume three is my favorite; I find the episodes a bit more entertaining for some reason I can't explain. I enjoyed all twelve episodes, particularly "The Fifth Turtle". I recommend this DVD for anyone who wants to sit down, relax, and enjoy a nice set of cartoons.

4 out of 5 stars episodes.......2007-09-11

it's great to have the original cartoon of "TMNT" but r.smith is right, (planet of the turtleoids) is missing from this season because there are 20 episode's in season 5 so they must be planning to put it in the next volume seeing that there are 16 episode's in season 6 but i can not find any reference to (Once Upon a Time Machine) in any season unless it go's by another name but all in all i can say were about half way by now because there are 1-193 episode's across 10 SEASON'S in the original cartoon but from season 8-10 there are only 24 episode's in total (8 episode's in season 8, 8 episode's in season 9, and 8 in season 10) so they might be planning to put season's 8-10 on one dvd. so here is a list of the episode's to come-

5 out of 5 stars TOP Collactable set!.......2007-08-31

This is one of the most original-idea dvd sets I have come accross!
Who thought of it?? A PIZZA box dvd set!!

LOVE IT!
Must have for all TMNT fans of the 80s!

4 out of 5 stars Great DVD set, horrible packaging........2007-08-29

This set contains 18 episodes of season 5 over 3 DVDs. The over video and audio quality are good, retaining their original 1980s look and feel.
Despite this, the packaging this DVD set comes in is awful. First, there is a cheap clear plastic slip cover on the outside; once that is off there is a small pizza box that is made of even cheaper cardboard. Once inside the pizza box, you will find a digipack with the 3 DVDs in it. This is a heck of a lot of trouble just to get a DVD out. Lionsgate did a great job with TMNT Season 4, they had a 5 DVD "fatpack" in which the DVDs were easily accessible. They should have done the same for season 5, but they wanted to be creative and instead of something quality, they gave something lousy. Not your best work, Lionsgate. Minus one star for packaging.

3 out of 5 stars Great series, still missing episodes from Season 5.......2007-08-06

"Once Upon a Time Machine" and "Planet of the Turtleoids parts 1 and 2" from seasons 4 and 5 were not released in this set or the previous set. Hopefully Season 6 will include these missing episodes. It really gets annoying when shows are not released in proper order, or grouped properly. The episodes are not in proper order on the DVD's, and there is no episode listing included so you have play each DVD to find the episode you are looking for. The background noise volume seems to be turned up louder than when originally aired (at least on the episodes I have watched so far), which sounded horrible on the Tranformers G1 DVD's (simulated explosions added in by Rhino). This is not as annoying as transformers was, but sometimes the background noise drowns out the voices which irritated me. Other than that this is a good set in a really cool Pizza box DVD case which was very clever, for one of the best Cartoons ever made! But the simple things that I posted ruined my experience a little. But I still recommend buying this set in order to get the entire series released. So packaging gets an A+, Series and shows get an A+, but the organization of this set gets an F-.

5 out of 5 stars Season Five of TMNT on DVD.......2007-07-08

On October 5, 1991, the second season (and fifth overall) of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" debuted on the CBS network. Riding a wave of almost unparalleled popularity at that time, the series had truly become a pop-cultural phenomenon.

This DVD set contains, to my understanding, 18 episodes of the fifth season of this series. However, for reasons that I don't understand, two episodes from the end of that season, a two-parter that aired in primetime -- "Planet of the Turtleoids" -- has not been included in this set. I am assuming that these episodes will be released in a later set (presumably the sixth season), but to not include them here is a shame. Why Lion's Gate would skimp out on these two episodes remains to be seen.

However, that minor quibble aside, there are some other assorted goodies to feed the senses. Continuing in the tradition that was set with the previous release, there are three bonus features included in this set:

"Heroes in a Half Shell" featurette on the Ninja Turtles phenomenon
"Inside the Turtle Shell" character portrait of Donatello
"Inside the Turtle Shell" character portrait of the Evil Splinter

On a sidenote, it will be interesting to see if the voice actor behind Donatello makes any references to the other voice actor who sometimes portrayed Donatello in the third season. I, in particular, have always been intrigued by this; to my memory, only Donatello and Raphael of the Fearsome Foursome ever had different voice actors at certain times in the series. Donatello and Raphael had notable voice changes in some episodes of the third season (in "The Turtle Terminator," both their voices are different...in the SAME EPISODE!), and a brand new voice actor gave voice to Raphael in the show's final season. But I digress.

Any fan of this classic series (and I am one of the legions!) will pick up this release come August 7, along with a side-order of peanut-butter and pickled-beets pizza, a dish Michaelangelo would have loved. There is much to savor in this three-disk set, "Planet of the Turtleoids" not withstanding.

By the way, I love the box-cover art and packaging for this release. Very clever!

A slightly better movie than you might think, this variation on The Karate Kid finds three youngsters helping out their grandfather in his fight against evil ninja warriors. The real secret weapon here is director Jon Turtletaub, paying some dues on this 1992 family feature; he's since gone on to direct John Travolta in Phenomenon and Sandra Bullock in While You Were Sleeping. --Tom Keogh

The 3 ninjas bundle deceives... and you'll understand why if you know all the 3 ninjas movies that were made...

5 out of 5 stars Great movie for the whole family.......2007-03-23

All of the 3 Ninjas movies keep my children laughing! They even call themselves Colt and Tum-tum (the kid's ninja nicknames in the movie). My 4 year old is addicted to all of the movies, that is why I purchased the trilogy too. It keeps him occupied for hours! Great for the whole family too! I highly recommend!!!

5 out of 5 stars I miss the 90s ninja craze........2007-03-10

1st,let's get this out of the way.I don't understand the bad reviews with complaints of it being a kids movie.Hello!McFly!Look at the cover...read the summary. It obviously shows that it is a family film.
If you're looking for a light-hearted family gem,I suggest getting this.It has good action, the kids won't be bored.I wasn't when it 1st came out.It isn't a movie condoning violence, the 3 Ninjas films push the view of fighting only when needed. The humor is cheesy and kid-oriented,but if you still have the kid alive in you, you'll take to it.

3 out of 5 stars the kids will love it.......2007-01-28

the kids will love it. adults will like parts of it too. it's a good movie to watch with the whole family.

3 out of 5 stars 3 ninjas.......2007-01-19

I didn't actually by this for myself but it was a oldie favorite of a really old friend. It got here very speedy though. That was great.

Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo is the first feature-length animated adventure for the popular superhero unit, and its producers pull no punches in delivering a stylish and crowd-pleasing story for the Titans' considerable fan base. Trouble takes the Titans--Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy--to the Land of the Rising Sun after the ninja Saico-Tek assaults Titans Tower. Once in Japan, the team discovers that a mysterious figure known as Brushogen (who is considered only a myth by the authorities) is behind Saico-Tek and a horde of anime-inspired creatures that are laying waste to Tokyo. Will the Titans locate Brushogen before his monsters cause more havoc? And will the long-simmering emotions shared by Robin and Starfire finally come to a head in this exotic location? The answers, of course, are all to be found in this 75-minute blast, which gives the Titans faithful all the action and smart scripting they've come to expect from the weekly series, as well as a few pleasant surprises and numerous nods to Japanese pop culture. The DVD is fleshed out by two supplemental features: "The Lost Episode," which aired only on the Postopia.com site, and an interactive game, "Robin's Underworld Race Challenge." --Paul Gaita

2 out of 5 stars Mainly for fans of Robin and Starfire.......2007-08-11

I love the Teen Titans TV series but I couldn't get into this movie. Robin is by far my least favorite Teen Titan - so I found this movie pretty annoying since he is the main focus (along with Starfire). Hopefully any future releases will be more balanced. I'm giving it a two because it was watchable yet I still wish that I hadn't seen it. Robin and Starfire fans rejoice this one's for you.

5 out of 5 stars Great Follow-Up Movie!.......2007-07-30

TEEN TITANS: TROUBLE IN TOKYO is the first and hopefully not the last direct to TV and DVD movie based on the cartoon series produced by Warner Bros. Animation. The cartoon series was based on the DC Comics superheroes that came out in the 1960s. At the time, the Teen Titans consisted of Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad. They were all sidekicks to major icons in the DC Comics universe.

Later, Wonder Girl was added to the roster. As the popularity of the Teen Titans grew, more superhero sidekicks were added in the membership. Speedy, the young archer who was partnered with Green Arrow, joined the team on a semi-regular basis. He was quickly followed by Hawk and Dove, two brothers who had mystical-based powers that augmented their real life abilities. (Hawk and Dove were also featured in an animated Justice League episode. Just goes to show that all of these characters have remained popular for almost 40 years.) Beast Boy, fresh from the Doom Patrol, joined them and brought a whole new level of levity to the series.

After while, as most series do, the Teen Titans comics folded. In the 1970s, white-hot comic writer Marv Wolfman wanted to take a shot at creating a new Teen Titans comic. When he did he brought Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, and Beast Boy into the new series and added three new characters: Cyborg, half-teen, half-machine; Starfire, alien warrior princess with amazing powers; and Raven, whose heritage as half-demon was hidden from the rest of the team for a while.

Wolfman's vision of the Teen Titans lasted for years and introduced several characters and key concepts that were later used in the animated series. Characters like Deathstroke the Terminator, Brother Blood, the H.I. V.E. and many others came out of that series and found their way into the cartoons.

Warner's decision to render the Teen Titans as more of an anime style for the younger viewers met with a lot of resistance and derision. Diehard fans wanted their heroes to be treated as "real" as Batman and Superman had been. The camp style of the Warner Bros. cartoon series took a little while to catch on, but it caught on in a big way.

It wasn't long before everyone loved the Teen Titans. Diehard fans just accept the fact that this was a Teen Titans they had not seen before and decided to enjoy the series anyway. Young viewers who had never seen the Teen Titans fell in love with them. A conscious decision was made to never show the young superheroes in their secret identities. They were superheroes all the time.

Not only that, with the anime-style in mind, they were slackers, video game junkies, and connoisseurs of pizza. The characters were drawn more liberally, and they were played for laughs. Beast Boy became a perennial favorite because of his antics and his ability to change into animals. Raven was the perpetual downer, the voice of doom and gloom. Starfire was an innocent (a far cry from the warrior princess she had been in Wolfman's series) and so naive it hurt.

After the series wrapped, Warner Bros. released TEEN TITANS: TROUBLE IN TOKYO and took the team to Japan for the first time. The movie opens with an exciting chase sequence that allows viewers to see the different vehicles the Teen Titans use while in pursuit. (Can we say, Toy Op?) And the action is just as wild as it ever was in the regular series.

But no visit to Tokyo -- especially a visit by the Teen Titans, because anything can happen to them -- is complete without a fight with a giant lizard rampaging the city. After hooking up with a local Tokyo superhero team, Robin and the others find themselves locked in mortal combat with "Gorgo."

Despite the confrontation, Robin quickly gets back to his original mission of finding Brushogun, the man they originally came to Tokyo to apprehend. He and Starfire fall into a romantic tangle that makes it hard on both of them. Robin feels that being a superhero crowds is life to the point that he can't be anything else -- not even a boyfriend.

Beast Boy tries to get in to see his favorite manga publisher, but the corporate offices are closed. While visiting the local bookstores, Raven discovers the legend of Brushogun. According to what she reads, Brushogun was a wizard who fell in love with the drawing of a woman he had made and tried to bring her to life. That kind of explains the creepy characters that now stalk the team.

The action remains fast and furious as Robin gets framed and chased by the police. Even though the movie is three times the length of a regular episode, it flies by. The story is chock full of action and plenty of visual treats as well as jokes. Of course, at the end of the movie the Teen Titans triumph and expose the bad guy. But there's a hint and a promise of the new budding romance between Robin and Starfire.

The movie is a must for fans of the animated series, and it's a good showcase for people who never seen the series. Now that the series is coming out in DVD sets, TEEN TITANS: TROUBLE IN TOKYO would be a good introduction.

Interestingly enough, another animated Teen Titans direct-to-DVD movie is also coming out soon. TEEN TITANS: THE JUDAS CONTRACT has been scripted by Marv Wolfman and Tom DeSanto. This is going to be a definite departure from the anime style and more in line with BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. The story will be edgier and darker.

3 out of 5 stars menu and special material.......2007-06-09

I liked the movie and about that I have nothing to say, but...

I dislike the menu. it has not scene selection! and the special material is pour. I would liked to watch storyboards and a making off... I'm a fan and that was a deception.

I didn't put a 1 star (about the menu) because it has a great game, it's the best game to dvd that I've ever seen. really! is very fun and looks like 3d scenery.

4 out of 5 stars pretty good.......2007-06-04

We enjoy watching Teen Titans episodes, so we thought that the movie was pretty good, too.

5 out of 5 stars Great Movie.......2007-05-28

4 out of 5 stars Kind of disappointed.......2007-07-29

I 'm kind of disappointed, since the product said "trilogy" which I expected to be the official Trilogy that contains all first 3. I, personally, don't like the last one "3 ninjas - high noon at mega mountain". I should have read another customer review first before I ordered. However, the first two are incredible great, still. All in all, I love the official three, not the last one.

5 out of 5 stars 3 Ninjas trilogy.......2007-05-14

This product was brand new great condition and fast shipping -- great!

5 out of 5 stars My Boys Love it!!!.......2007-03-23

All of the 3 Ninjas movies keep my children laughing! They even call themselves Colt and Tum-tum (the kid's ninja nicknames in the movie). My 4 year old is addicted to all of the movies, that is why I purchased the trilogy. It keeps him occupied for hours! Great for the whole family too! I highly recommend!!!

4 out of 5 stars HAVE MERCY!!.......2006-11-29

A long time ago, a fortune teller told me that the 3 NINJAS movies would be sold in a box-set with all the movies. Can you believe it - IT CAME TRUE! I stood outside of Wal-Mart with my tent for two weeks and was the first in line when the store opened to buy this! OH YEAH! CHECK IT OUT:
You get ALL of the 3 Ninjas movies and a t-shirt or something. All the action you love in one package! I sold all of my other movies so that this would be the only one in my house, and THIS IS ALL I EVER NEED! I never have to buy another movie again.
High Noon at Mega Mountain is hands down the ultimate action film ever, and easily the most best of the 3 Ninjas trilogeye. I had to pause the movie to catch my breath. TOO MUCH ACTION! And then I saw the scene where they save the Indian reservation and ran outside. I played a game of basketball and my teacher was like, "Why are you showing off?" and I said, "I'm not, I'm playin' basketball!" I won a bike, 'cause I won the game by doing a flip slam-dunk!
True fans will love the packaging, which is superb! I especially loved the new covers with the trading cards. Did you know that DAVE DRAGON went with the ninjas to their grandpa's house that summer and started taking lessons with them? It's true.
Do yourselves a favor and buy this trilogy! YOU CAN DO IT! I can't believe how awesome it is! TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? LIGHT UP THE EYES!!

2 out of 5 stars buyer beware !.......2006-06-23

This box set is in fact NOT the official 3 Ninjas Trilogy. The official order of the trilogy is as follows; 3 Ninjas (1992), 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up (shot back to back with the first movie also in 1992 but not released until 1995), and 3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994). This advertised box set includes the three sequels but not the original 3 Ninjas film. Read my separate reviews for each 3 Ninjas movie for more information. I hope this is helpful.
