OK, all you Trekkers who have been resisting the Star Trek: Fan Collective series on principle because it's an inexpensive repackaging of the episodes you already have on DVD. Captain's Log, the fifth in the series, raises the bar, not just by including a fifth disc, but by providing a host of brand-new content. As usual, fans selected the initial 10 episodes--two per series--but each "captain"--William Shatner, James T. Kirk of the Original Series; Patrick Stewart, Jean-Luc Picard of The Next Generation; Avery Brooks, Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine; Kate Mulgrew, Kathryn Janeway of Voyager; and Scott Bakula, Jeffery Archer of Enterprise--picked a third episode as a personal favorite. Each captain then introduces the selected episode in about a one-minute segment (the exception is Shatner, who dishes for 12 minutes about "The City on the Edge of Forever," joined partway through by co-star Joan Collins), and in most cases, introduces the fan-selected ones as well. Finally, each captain is interviewed in a series of featurettes (some with common themes, such as "The Importance of the Captain's Log," "What Makes a Good Captain," or the character's legacy or future) lasting 8 to 12 minutes total. (Brooks' segments don't follow the themes and appear to be recorded a while back.) And thankfully, of all the episodes in the set--"The City on the Edge of Forever," "The Enterprise Incident," and "Balance of Terror" from the Original Series; "In Theory," "Chain of Command," and "Darmok" from The Next Generation; "Far Beyond the Stars," "What You Leave Behind" parts 1 and 2, and "In the Pale Moonlight" from Deep Space Nine; "Counterpoint," "The Omega Directive," and "Flashback" from Voyager; and "Judgment," "These Are the Voyages," and "First Flight" from Enterprise--only "The City on the Edge of Forever" is repeated from a previous Fan Collective, and it's hard to complain about seeing that episode too many times. --David Horiuchi

The fans and captains have spoken! Not only have Star Trek fans voted online for their all-time favorite captain episodes from all five Star Trek series, but each show's legendary leader Captain Kirk, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Scott Bakula has carefully chosen their favorite episode, which resulted in Star Trek: Fan Collective Captain's Log.
Customer Reviews:
I loved this one as much as I loved the other special sets.......2007-09-07
I wish that CBS or Paramount would make more special collectors sets like this one more often then just once a year. I loved this set of episodes like the other sets dealing with the Borg, Klingons, time travel, Q, and others.
I wish there was a Romulan set, or a strange alien set coming soon. The only problem is that I find that there are repeated episodes in each different box set, where I personally want new and different episodes each time a new set comes out.
I also want CBS-Paramount to sell the new special effects editions of the original classic Star Trek episodes with Captain Kirk like they broadcast late at night on CBS or NBC on DVD.
Again this was another awesome product from the Star Trek universe, can't wait for more.
trek fans will enjoy.......2007-09-03
I personally like this collection, although I couldn't bring myself to give it a 5 based on a questionable episode choice or two (considering the theme at least, not that they are bad episodes), the repeat of an episode from a previous "collective," and because of the fact it just simply isn't as good as some of the other collectives (specifically the borg collective, and arguably others as well).
But maybe I am just being picky, as I do not regret my purchase at all, and do enjoy the captain interviews as well as the episodes. If you are like me and love trek but can't bring yourself to purchase all the full seasons, these collectives are worth the money, and this one is no exception.
~Just for the Captains~.......2007-08-29
Being a lover of first Captain Kirk and then Jean Luc Picard and not caring that much for the others I was hesitant on buying this. Also it has been said several times in reviews that this only presents one repeat, no, it presents two (City of the Edge of Forever) and Darmok is here on Captain Log but it also on the Jean Luc Picard Fan Collection (which I also own). All in all the Captains series i sworth an addition to your collection.
Star Trek in Spanish!.......2007-08-28
I was looking for a gift for a Star Trek's Fan that lives in Central America. So, I did need something with at least Spanish subtitles. However I get more that I expected when I see the box and realized that all 15 episodes have not only Spanish subtitles but you can also choose to hear them in Spanish or Portuguese language, just as my friend saw them on television! The same voices of the 70's! I just like to know if the rest of the Fan Collective DVD series have the same language options.
Captains Log - Supplimental.......2007-08-26
If you've got the entire series collections, you've got all these episodes. The same can be said for all of the "Fan Collective" assemblies. If you DON'T have the entire series, this is a good way to capture favorites. I got to vote on some of these episodes, so it was cool to see how the voting turned out. Only three of the ones I picked made the cut - oh well. These are all good episodes. Some you will find on OTHER Fan Collective editions as well. The opening commentary by each Captain's actor is novel - as are the other comments they offer in each bonus feature section of each disk. I think you'll enjoy that each series Captain has a disk of thier own, with three episodes per disk (one chosen by the actor, the other two by the fans). You can easily sit down for an "evening" with each Captain and not get too much episode vertigo.

Product Description
When the coach of Vince Papale's beloved hometown football team hosted an unprecedented open tryout, the public consensus was that it was a waste of time--no one good enough to play professional football was going to be found this way. Certainly no one like Papale--a down-on-his-luck, 30 year-old, substitute teacher and part-time bartender who never even played college football. But against these odds, Papale made the team and soon found himself living every fan's fantasy--moving from his cheap seats in the upper deck to standing on the field as a professional football player.

Walt Disney Pictures scored a surprise box-office hit with Invincible, and the movie deserved its good reviews as a fine example of how above-average writing, direction, and casting can turn formulaic material into something special. And make no mistake, this is a formulaic movie, with its real-life story embellished with Rocky-like enthusiasm, and lovingly crafted with the same quality of working-class humanism that made The Rookie a similarly popular Disney hit. This time, the inspirational true story is that of Vince Papale, a down-on-his-luck substitute teacher in Philadelphia (played by Mark Wahlberg in a nicely understated performance) who was 30 years old, out of work, abandoned by his wife, and biding time as a bartender when he answered an open call for tryouts on the Philadelphia Eagles NFL football team in 1976. Going with his gut instinct, new coach Dick Vermeil (Greg Kinnear) rewards Papale's diligent efforts with a place on the team, and Invincible combines gridiron guts, low-key romance (as Papale meets his future wife-to-be, played by Elizabeth Banks) and blue-collar friendship in an underdog story that moves, with casual charm and abundant appeal, toward a rousing feel-good finish. Making good use of digital visual effects to recreate Philly's now-demolished Veterans Stadium, director Erickson Core (also serving as his own cinematographer) tackles this heartwarming assignment with intelligence and flair, spinning gold from what could have been just another routine sports movie. --Jeff Shannon

Invincible.......2007-08-26
A beautiful story about determination and success against all odds. I've shown this film to addicts and alcoholics seeking recovery and the reaction was totally positive.
An entertaining portrayal of a true football story.......2007-08-06
Mark Wahlberg does an excellent job of making the story seem true-to-life. I would recommend this move to anyone who likes an 'underdog' story; not just football fans. Of course there's a little bit of romance thrown in for the ladies as well.
was not what I thought it would be.......2007-08-05
We own alot of the great football movies. Friday Night Lights, Remember the Tiatans and I would even through Radio in there. This is why I purchased this movie. First of all some what slow movie didn't really keep my intrest. Second of all I would say really bad acting. Nothing was really belivable. I think I would just wait for this to come out on tv
Wahlberg gives a great performance in this movie.......2007-07-31
Very endearing movie that is about a man who is kind of "off the street" who makes the Eagles team in open tryouts. He goes from becoming a 30 year old bartender to Professional football player and it is a true story that has a lot of heart and emotion to it. Kinnear is also in the movie he plays coach Dick Vermeil. The movie is a great film for the family and is a story about triumph and chance and love of the game so to speak. It does not matter if you like football or the Eagles team it matters that you understand the message. Sometimes a movie like this fails but I think this one is a keeper and shows how dreams do come true even if they seem totally impossible. Mark is great as Vince and it shows the opportunity that is presented to him that he ultimately turns into a dream come true.
Rocky in the NFL.......2007-07-11
In 1975 the Philadelphia Eagles NFL football team was on a 14-year losing streak. They had no heart and they had disappointed a city that needed them. Then a down-on-his-luck 30 year old out of work substitute teacher in Philadelphia, played by Mark Wahlberg, is abandoned by his wife, and biding time as a part-time bartender when he answered an open call for tryouts on the Philadelphia Eagles NFL football team in 1976.
This open call was an act of desperation by a new coach and is what this film is about. This inspirational true story is that of Vince Papale who gave his heart and soul to the team and brought them back to life. He will never be forgotten in Philly, he may not be in the record books, but every Eagles football fan knows him. Vince Papale was making all this happen at the same time the fictional movie "Rocky" was released...so the fans of the Eagles saw that dreams do come true. A lesson we should all remember. I recommend this film for the whole family.

The plot line may sound familiar: Two mismatched cops are assigned as reluctant partners to solve a crime. Culturally they are complete opposites, and they quickly realize they can't stand each other. One (Jackie Chan) believes in doing things by the book. He is a man with integrity and nerves of steel. The other (Chris Tucker) is an amiable rebel who can't stand authority figures. He's a man who has to do everything on his own, much to the displeasure of his superior officer, who in turn thinks this cop is a loose cannon but tolerates him because he gets the job done. Directed by Brett Ratner, Rush Hour doesn't break any new ground in terms of story, stunts, or direction. It rehashes just about every "buddy" movie ever made--in fact, it makes films such as Tango and Cash seem utterly original and clever by comparison. So, why did this uninspired movie make over $120 million at the box office? Was the whole world suffering from temporary insanity? Hardly. The explanation for the success of Rush Hour is quite simple: chemistry. The casting of veteran action maestro Jackie Chan with the charming and often hilarious Chris Tucker was a serendipitous stroke of genius. Fans of Jackie Chan may be slightly disappointed by the lack of action set pieces that emphasize his kung-fu craft. On the other hand, those who know the history of this seasoned Hong Kong actor will be able to appreciate that Rush Hour was the mainstream breakthrough that Chan had deserved for years. Coupled with the charismatic scene-stealer Tucker, Chan gets to flex his comic muscles to great effect. From their first scenes together to the trademark Chan outtakes during the end credits, their ability to play off of one another is a joy to behold, and this mischievous interaction is what saves the film from slipping into the depths of pitiful mediocrity. --Jeremy Storey

Rush Hour is one of best buddy-cop movies.......2007-03-13
I get a kick out of this movie. The way Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker interact and play off each other is so hilarious. Jackie Chan's Hollywood career got a second break with Rush Hour and the plot has more substance than most Jackie Chan movies.
We got James Carter, played by Chris Tucker, who is an LAPD detective with a penchant for dancing Michael Jackson-style while blowing up blocks of buildings. This gets him into trouble with his sergeant who, at the request of the FBI, assigns him to a case where he ends up being a nurse maid to Lee (Chan), a Chinese detective who has just broken up a huge smuggling ring in Hong Kong. The FBI want Carter and Lee to not interfere with the investigation of the kidnapping of the Chinese Consul's daughter, but Lee and Carter do anyway, in their own charismatic manner and triumph where the FBI fail.
The martial arts expertise of Jackie Chan is fantastic and shows that his truly a master in what he does. Chris Tucker does a terrific job of playing the off the wall LAPD officer who trys to keep Chan's character out of the way of an investigation. Chris Tucker is an extremely well disciplined actor, and seems to go very smoothly with the styles of Jackie Chan. Not only is the action part of the movie good, the now common jokes in martial arts movies are all there, including many racial/cultural difference jokes not necessarily making fun of races, but the cultural differences. Rush Hour is nothing to take seriously, but it is fun to watch.
One of my favorite movies!.......2007-03-07
Detective Carter (Chris Tucker) who has the fastest mouth in the L.A. police force has an assignment to track down a Chinese Consular's daughter with the help of Hong Kong detective Lee (Jackie Chan). The Two aren't getting along quite well for Carter thinks everything is his way, for Lee the mission is important but eventually along the way they become friends and must stop the international criminal mastermind behind this.
Phenomenal and entertaining action-comedy that has the right ingredients to make one of 1998's most popular movies! Chan and Tucker make a great team together. The movie has a perfect mix of action, laughs, and stunts from Chan, it's the best work Brett Ratner has done and the sequel is even better.
The DVD has crisp picture and sound with cool extras like audio commentary, isolated score, Deleted scenes, featurette, a short film, the theatrical trailer, DVD-Rom extras and music video by Dru Hill.

This story about a day in the life of an independent record store, truly a threatened species, screeches with the sound of teenagers falling apart emotionally every five minutes. The script, which feels like an old guy's idea of how kids talk and think, concerns the young employees of a Delaware music shop faced with imminent extinction. While the ship is sinking, the staff indulge in tantrums, depressions, and run-ins with low self-esteem. There's a lot of noise in this thing, but not a lot is really said. Rory Cochrane has the best part as a secretive guy who loses the store's proceeds one night while gambling, Anthony LaPaglia is the adult boss and unofficial dad to the others, Renée Zellweger plays a promiscuous girl, and Liv Tyler is OK as a lovestruck sweet thing trying to get up the nerve to express her feelings to a fellow employee. --Tom Keogh

Good Movie.......2007-05-06
A little bit crazy. But over all an excellent movie. I have watched it several times.
Classic Teen Movie.......2007-05-02
Empire Records is one of those movies that never gets "played out". It has a fresh, youthful, captivating flow. Set to great music from a mix of genres. This is definitely not just a music video. It deals with a lot of basic life issues, that are part of growing up and growing old. From the little miss perfect, who secretly pops pills to keep up. And is holding onto a teen fantasy of losing her virginity in romance novel style to her heart throb. The weird girl working through depression and thoughts of suicide. A wanna be thug and miserably bad shoplifter that just needs to belong to something. To the washed up old pop star that tries to pathetically hold onto his youth and career. And a wealth of other colorful characters, that are all trying to find themselves, and where they fit into the world. Empire is a great light hearted movie. It doesn't go overboard with drama, romance, or silliness. But it does have a little bit of all those things.
A Movie to Resist Time!!!.......2007-04-28
Fantastic movie that will last through the ages! I can watch this movie any time of the day or night over and over again, I have actually watched it probably about a hundred times. It never gets old and it's one of those movies that you can just put on just to have something to watch. I guess it is more directed at a younger group of people but it can last through the ages.

Product Description
Firefly and Serenity have grown beyond the genius of Joss Whedon. The words Firefly and Browncoat have come to symbolize a sense of community, family, and believing that the impossible can be accomplished. These concepts are at the very heart of Firefly and of its fans. Adam Baldwin hosts the telling of this vivid Browncoat story that features interviews with Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly and Serenity, the cast, crew, and most important, the fans themselves.
The story chronicles the rise, fall, and rebirth of the cult TV show "Firefly" as told from the perspective of the fans who helped save it. Fans of the TV show and movie share what inspired them to become passionate about Firefly, to help save Firefly, attend shindigs, participate in message boards, donate to charities, and become Serenity extras. They talk about the many ways that Firefly has affected their lives. The cast and crew also share humorous and insightful experiences.
Customer Reviews:
surprisingly fun.......2007-08-26
This fan documentary was much, much better than I expected.
I bought another documentary one once called Star Wait about Star Wars fans waiting in line for one of the prequels (Clones, I think). That was the worst DVD I have ever bought. It simply showed the Star Wars fans that most Star Wars fans are afraid will be seen in public and stigmatize them to the rest of the world. Just a bunch of people cussing who needed to grow up.
Done The Impossible couldn't be more the opposite of Star Wait. It was very professionally done by people who loved Firefly. People who loved the show so much that they wanted to share it with those who haven't seen Firefly or Serenity.
It was great to see some of the actors get in on the action and help out. That gave the video much more credibility than it would have had otherwise. We were shown actors who really loved what they were doing and wholeheartedly appreciated the fans for their support. Most actors wouldn't have stooped so low as to thank their audience.
I am a Firefly fan. I am a Serenity fan. I became a fan too late to get in on the guerrilla marketing and writing campaigns. But if you are any kind of fan at all, you should buy this DVD. Anything to let stupid TV networks know that their customers are much more intelligent and have higher entertainment standards than they give us credit for....
Firefly and Serenity.......2007-05-24
This fan DVD is an outstanding product. What a wonderful way to remember and enjoy the delight of this show! What a shame that it was dropped so soon! We have become avid fans!!
If you didn't tear up during this..........2007-04-18
...then wear a different color coat.
This was an amazing undertaking of love that Firefly/Serenity fans have become known for. I loved remembering and laughing along with them. The Bedlam Bards were especially endearing (you've got to love "The Man They Call Joss"!), but it made me sad all over again about what happened with this show. I was wishing for more scenes of Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk talking (who wouldn't??), since they seemed to be having as much fun re-living and remembering as the fans.
A must-have for Firefly/Serenity fans, as jubilant as it is heartbreaking.
Browncoats are the new Trekkies.......2007-04-10
I must admit that I'm a trekkie, but the show that I love above them all is Firefly. This video is a great tribute to the show and it also shows that it's the fans that power Serenity. It's love that keeps her flying
'verse dictionary on tv was too fuzzy!.......2007-03-29
The only thing that I was a little upset about was the letters on 'verse dictionary. But the movie and other parts were exceptionally well done. I would suggest this as a must have for any browncoat.

Morena Baccarin, Jewel Staite, Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, Ron Glass, Margaret Weis, Tracy & Laura Hickman, Orson Scott Card, and Joss Weddon.

You can say this about D.E.B.S.: director Angela Robinson's 2005 feature isn't very good, but it is surprisingly entertaining. The premise, which bears a passing resemblance to any number of previous films (from Heathers and Clueless to Charlie's Angels and the Austin Powers franchise), involves a secret government agency recruiting young women as spies, based on their smarts, their ability to lie convincingly, and the fact that they look fetching in ultra-miniskirts. Four of the D.E.B.S. are then charged with collaring "criminal mastermind" Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), who has returned to the States after hatching all manner of nefarious plots overseas. Then comes the twist: Diamond is gay, and one of our heroines, Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with her. Out goes the espionage element; in comes the love story, and therein lies the surprise, as this burgeoning lesbian relationship is handled with unexpected sympathy, even tenderness. Sure, the acting, even by veteran grownups like Holland Taylor and Michael Clarke Duncan, is almost uniformly lame, and the script is silly; overall, the film would have to put on considerable weight to even be considered frothy. Still, D.E.B.S. isn't a bad way to kill a couple of hours. DVD bonus features include a making-of featurette and commentary by Robinson and the cast. --Sam Graham

Sultry crime boss Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster, The Fast and the Furious) is back in the states and the D.E.B.S.- an elite team of paramilitary college co-ed superspies- are hot on her trail. But when their top agent, gorgeous Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster, The Big Bounce), mysteriously disappears after coming face to face with the attractive young villainess, the D.E.B.S. begin a full-scale search for Lucy's secret lair, never suspecting that Amy may not want to be rescued after all, in this smart and sexy spy spoof about love at first gun sight.
Customer Reviews:
Awesome Movie.......2007-08-10
Great movie, totally camp, don't expect anything serious, just some good tongue in cheek spy / lesbian / guns type of movie.
c.u.t.e........2007-07-23
This movie is simply c.u.t.e. If you're expecting pure cinema, high art, or award-winning acting, you'll be horribly disappointed. If you want continuity, a tight plot, or great special effects, well... look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a silly, romantic movie that asks you to suspend reality just for a couple of hours, this is the bomb. I've re-watched it a few times in the several months since I bought it, and it's always a bit of a cheer-me-up. Call me a sucker for young love.
I do wish they'd have integrated the cut scenes into the movie, rather than leaving them as clips on another menu. The "bedroom scene" in the theater version is quite tame, and the "director's cut" version of it is not much less so. They should have just released the DVD as the director's cut, with the missing/replaced scenes.
Awesome, fun, campy, cute........2007-06-28
Loved it! It was just what i needed. It is kinda like the animation "Totally Spies" but live action. It was campy cute fun!
Love it.......2007-06-15
I have to say that I wasnt expecting a lot from the movie but I ended up loving it! It was laugh out loud funny and always entertaining with good plot. Like others said, its not oscar worthy but it was an hour and a half well spent. I watch it all the time when I get bored and now my friends love it too. Well worth watching; it may not look promising at first but after 10 min. you'll be addicted.
Just plain fun.......2007-05-31
I agree that this movie is not oscar-worthy, but it was a fun way to spend an hour or so as it was funny and entertaining. Isn't that what movies are supposed to do - entertain us? Well, this one does. As long as you don't take this one too seriously, it's worth a bag of popcorn.

Customer Reviews:
Better story than a movie.......2007-08-09
All the pieces are in place for this movie. The production values are surprisingly superb. The story is a tale most dream of. The problem as I see it, after watching the special features and seeing "the real" Vince Papale is Mark Wahlberg just doesn't bring the fun spark of who Vince Papale was. Mark just sort of sulks through the whole movie which brings it down quite a bit.
The picture and sound are both amazing as well as the painstaking re-creation of "The Vet". Sadly, it all becomes a wash in many ways. Wahlberg more or less sleepwalks through the movie and I never felt the connection with him and his "friends" (who were all interchangable), in short, the casting all around was adequate but little else. How do you go from being a bartender to a Philadelphia Eagle making 100X's what you were making and not shed ONE TEAR in the process? You don't, except in this movie.
While I cannot recommend this as a purchase I do recommend it as a movie to see.
Edit: The following is from Wikipedia which is in stark contrast to the cinderella story portrayed in Invincible;
"In 1974, while bartending at Max's in Prospect Park and substitute-teaching at Interboro High School, he successfully tried out for the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League as a wide receiver. Papale caught 9 passes for 121 yards, 13.4 average. His performance with that team earned him a meeting with Coach Dick Vermeil of the Philadelphia Eagles after general manager Jim Murray got him an invitation to a private work-out held by Coach Vermeil."
In the movie he moved right from bartending to the Eagles which is a much more dramatic story, but apparently not factual.
Excellent movie........2007-07-15
Beer and football, need I convince you further to see this movie? Seriously this is an excellent movie and the Blu-Ray video and audio transfer are absolutely superb. I just loved the music score and that kicks off right from the very start.
Mark Walberg's been better.......2007-03-14
I liked this movie but not completely what I was expecting. It was based on a true story which also made it appealing but I found the story kind of dragged on. The football scenes were amazing though. Really got into the action and let you feel the violence that is professional football.
Great movie and awesome picture and features.......2007-01-06
Movies in high definition are the future. This one was brilliantly made anyways (without the high-definition) and you add in the HD with Blu-Ray and the extra features (documentary on the real Vince Papale) and it just enhances the experience. I saw this at the movies and had to own it. It's inspirational and teaches that you are never too old to achieve your dreams. Definite buy on Blu-Ray or regular DVD.

Marking 20 years since Michael Jordan's celebrated arrival in the NBA, this truly historic 3-disc Collector's Edition chronicles the amazing career of this great American icon. For the first time ever, exclusive to this set, are Jordan's five all-time, greatest games in their entirety. Reference ID:TC01-DVD-0951
Amazon.com essential video
Michael Jordan, the greatest player in the history of team sports, gets an appropriate showcase with Ultimate Jordan, a two-disc set that's the most feature-packed sports DVD to date. It includes five programs previously available on VHS--some of the most spectacular footage is on Come Fly with Me (1989), which covers Jordan's youth, college years, and early NBA career. Michael Jordan's Playground (1991) is, as the title suggests, more fanciful, combining highlight footage with a fictional story line and a music video, while Air Time (1993) takes us into the championship and Dream Team years. The more sobering Above and Beyond (1996) covers the death of Jordan's father, his first retirement, and his baseball endeavors, and His Airness (1999) summarizes his career up through the famous final shot against the Utah Jazz. The numerous extra features collect various clips and highlights, but the best section is "Michael's Great 8," which provides 2.5- to 6-minute segments about significant Jordan games, including his 63 points against Boston in the 1986 playoffs and the 1997 "flu game" against Utah. Ultimate Jordan's release in the fall of 2001 coincided with Jordan's not-unexpected return from his second retirement, making it clear that there's another chapter in the Jordan legacy yet to be written. --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
Absolutely Amazing.......2007-07-27
The most amazing Jordan collection ever! Five of his greatest games that you can relive. Some of the games I was too young to even care about, so I had never seen them before in my life. It has all the Jordan documentaries compiled into one, best moves, best last second heroics, etc. I strongly recommend this to all the Jordan fans and members of the Jordan club. (I'm sure the majority already have a copy):)
Cooler than tree shade........2007-07-11
Ultimate Anthology. Half amazing -half captivating. A fun ride down memory lane and, a beautiful display case to boot.
Awesome.......2007-07-04
If you have followed Mike throughout his career, A definte must have for your collection.
Jordan...For 3!...YESSSS!.......2007-05-07
For someone who grew up in the Chicago area during the 90's, pairing this with the Chicago Bulls: The 90's is as good as it gets. Not only does this DVD bring back all of the classic videos we bought as kids back in the day, but also puts together loads of highlights, and of course, the best feature which is the full length games. The only complaint that I have is that three of the games on this are also the same on the Bulls DVD set I mentioned above. Otherwise, if you're a Jordan fan (which unless you're a Knicks or Craig Ehlo fan, you are) you need to pick this up.
I SAW MAN FLY.......2007-04-07
Legend, there is some good basketball playerz out there today like king james and kobe but mike took the nba to the next level, lebron you have to be comming with 6 nba championship rings, slam dunk champion, mvps, point scoring champion, etc to even be mention in the same force as air jordan.

One of the most ambitious animated films to come out of Japan (or anywhere, for that matter), Perfect Blue is an adult psycho-thriller that uses the freedom of the animated image to create the subjective reality of a young actress haunted by the ghost of her past identity. Mima is a singer who leaves her teeny-bop trio to become an actress in a violent television series, a career move that angers her fans, who prefer to see her as the pert, squeaky-clean pop idol. Plagued by self-doubt and tormented by humiliating compromises, she begins to be stalked, in her waking and sleeping moments, by an accusing alter ego who claims to be "the real Mima," until she collapses into madness as her coworkers are brutally slain around her. Director Satoshi Kon, adapting the novel by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, shows us the world from her schizophrenic perspective: days blur, dreams cross over into the waking world, the TV show blends into her real life, until her life merges with her part and she can't separate the ghosts from the real-life stalkers. Though the pat ending sweeps the psychosis and anxiety away with nary an emotional scar, it remains a smart, stylish thriller and one of the most intelligent and compelling uses of animation in recent years. Though tame by the extreme standards of "adult anime," there is nudity and a few sexually provocative scenes, and the animation is detailed and stylized (if somewhat stiff and jerky by Disney standards). --Sean Axmaker
Customer Reviews:
Far from perfect and made my day blue.......2007-06-14
This anime got lost somewhere in my anime collection. I haven't watched it in 2 years until today. I wanted to know the reason why this was still apart of my collection. And honestly... I dont know why. For every 10 anime fans that hop out the woodwork, about 9 reviews come out extremely overhyped. Perfect Blue joins that overhyped roster.
Perfect Blue really has nothing going for it all in my opinion. First the story. The main character Mima has established herself as a pop artist together with her group. Due to some "backstage politics" she was forced to break away and begin her new career as an actress. Unfortunetley she begins to receive life threatening gifts and emails from what appears to be disgruntled fans. The plot could have turned out to be something special. But several flashbacks and hallucinations cause the story to actually drag out. Soon you the viewer will begin to ask yourself, whats real or not real? It seemed kind of cool at first until some things didn't add up to me at all. Given the time the main character had between her movie filming, real life situations and just the development of the anime itself. The hallucinations just really didn't seem to make sense or was believeable to the point where anyone could have gone insane. Soon the writers of the script for the main character start to turn up brutally murdered which begins the who dunnit thing. Also to mention even though it was apart of the movie filming. There is a pretty disturbing rape scene. But I've seen much worse.
The animation is alright and the soundtrack is ok. I feel that this movie was wasted potential. Due to very weak character development. Very slow and non captivating plot. I honestly believe the only people who truly enjoy this anime are those that are new to the genre. Those who like everything and those that just like to give high ratings to anime that trys to make you think with minimum hack and slash. If you want something dark and WILL make you think. Then check out Boogiepop Phantom way before this. Perfect Blue is worth a rental at best. This anime is not for kids or the weak of heart, due to strong language, gore, and sexual situations.
Against the norm in a good way.......2007-06-14
Perfect Blue, directed by Satoshi Kon who would later do Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers and the upcoming Paprika, takes a stab (no pun intended) at a more mature offering. Instead of having things such as mechs or special abilities or fighters who can fly 60 feet in the air, this is more like a traditional movie only done in animation. With some interesting, surrealistic visuals, an ever-shifting storyline and lots of twists Lost would be proud to have, this is a film for those looking for that little extra something in their anime movies.
Mima Kirogue is a pop singer for the band CHAM! Like all pop singers who dream of being known for something else as well as the brevity of most careers, she quits and pursues an acting career. Some fans are not happy with this decision and one in particular is quite obsessed with Mima returning to her old career, even going as far as to follow her and impersonate her online as well as going to extremes involving people working with Mima. But is it the stalker or is something else entirely going on?
What's really great ultimately about the story is its comfortable sense of pacing. Anyone who's a fan of film noir or the often used comparison to Hitchcock films knows pacing is very deliberate. Rather than have the slam-bang pace of a lot of anime films, here thinks start out quietly and strangely calm but soon things escalate and more and more things start to happen around Mima. It's a film that can probably work in live action but animation just gives it that extra surreal quality, especially the constant presence of someone in the mirror and their manner of moving which would look silly filmed.
The other is the story. The film very sneakily has so many elements and layers on it that you'll find yourself constantly figuring out the mystery only to have it not be the case. While at times it's incredibly hard to keep track of everything and what's in the mind and what's for real constantly shifts making you lose an understanding of what's going on only to be shown the answer later. You got to walk into this film prepared to challenge everything although the fun of it is seeing it unfold with you confused in a good way. Kon's style of animation at times can be somewhat distracting. While there's a lot of more cinematic elements used such as blurring or rotating camera movement, the characters look slightly ugly at times.
It may not be the most loved anime by most people with some calling it overrated or just plain weird for anything but I quite enjoyed it and you should check it out.
Perfect Blue - Amazing thriller!.......2007-06-08
I loved this movie so much I've watched it over and over.
Highly recommened...great psychological thriller.
Excuse me... who are you?.......2007-06-02
This movie is different for all you anime lovers. This is a great movie. It's a thriller. I really love this movie. The Japanese version is good. I enjoy watching movies with Japanese. Perfect Blue is a great movie.
Just bought it...........2007-04-01
and I love it!!! This movie is one of the weirdest, tripiest movies I have ever seen. If your into suspense, violence, drama and action, then get this movie.

While hardcore Trekkers may not find a lot of new material in Star Trek Collective: Borg, newcomers experiencing 16 action-packed, fan-selected episodes of the Federation's greatest villains may have to prepare to be assimilated. All the episodes have been previously released on DVD, but there are new text commentaries on three of the episodes, and the per-disc price is significantly less expensive than the full-season Trek sets. It's a great entry point for novices, or for budget-minded fans.
The episodes are presented in Stardate order, which means starting with Enterprise, the latest series but also the earliest in chronological order. In "Regeneration," an exploration team finds a pair of apparently dead humanoid-mechanical hybrids that turn out to be members of the Borg, a nearly invincible race whose simple goal is to absorb--"assimilate"--every individual organism it encounters into its collective being. Because the Borg has the ability to adapt itself to resist any threat, resistance is futile. Shift ahead to The Next Generation and a visit by the quirky god Q turns out to have deadly implications when, in a pouty mood, he throws the Enterprise into their first encounter with the Borg. That's followed by the classic two-part cliffhanger (bridging seasons 3 and 4) "The Best of Both Worlds," in which Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) is assimilated into the Borg and a frustrated Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) has to make a fateful decision. "I, Borg" attempts to give the Borg a humanized aspect, and the two-parter "Descent" has some interesting developments for Data (Brent Spiner). Skip Deep Space Nine in favor of Voyager, the series in which Captain Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) ship is stranded far from home in the Delta Quadrant. That happens to be home turf for the Borg, so they had a number of run-ins. The first two-parter (which bridged seasons 3 and 4) is "Scorpion," which introduces the Borg's nemesis, Species 8472. By the time of "Drone," the ship had its first Borg crew member, the sexy Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), but her loyalties are tempted by the Borg Queen (Susanna Thompson) in the double-length "Dark Frontier." In the "Unimatrix Zero" two-parter, which bridged seasons 6 and 7, Seven discovers an idyllic haven for members of the Collective that the Queen is determined to find and destroy. That eventually leads to an ultimate confrontation with the Queen (now played by Alice Krige, repeating her role from Star Trek: First Contact) in the series finale, "Endgame." --David Horiuchi
Product Description
The Borg Fan Collection has the top ten most popular Borg episodes as picked by the fans! Witness all the characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Enterprise and Voyager as they defend their ships, galaxies, and their own kind. For thousands of years the Borg have been spreading throughout the galaxy, conquering, assimilating and thus destroying countless civilizations. Following every encounter, the Borg catalogue each new species with a numerical designation instead of a proper name. The goal of the Borg, in most cases, is to completely assimilate each species by incorporating their knowledge and technology into the unified Borg Collective. One by one, each living being is converted into Borg Drones. In many cases, all that remains of an assimilated civilization is the memory of its unique contributions that now resides only within the accumulated knowledge of the Borg. That and the numerical species designation. Often even the name is lost, forgotten or deleted as irrelevant. Conversely, the species designations give a sense of the long and terrible history of the Borg and the thousands of species they have encountered and absorbed.

I recommend this collection to any Trek fan!

Great Star Trek.......2007-05-16
This is a pretty good sample of the Borg on the different Star Trek Shows. I would like to have seen some others included, but it it still a very enjoyable piece of Star Trek entertainment.
This is the best Star Trek Collection!.......2007-05-12
This really is a great collection! You can actually have both parts of 'The Best of Both Worlds' (as well as several other great season cliffhangers) on dvd without buying 2 seasons! It would probably be a good idea for them to make a 'Cliffhangers' collection just for that purpose.
Anyway, if you love to hate the borg, I highly recommend buying this set. I won't bore you with episode details (as they're already listed elsewhere), but suffice it to say, these are really good! Once you have this, you just have to assimilate the movie 'First Contact,' to complete the borg collective.
