GREAT ADVENTURE MOVIE.......2007-01-10

Well if you thought Tom Berenger could'nt do it again he did in Sniper 2 not as long a movie as Sniper 1 but it has it's good spot's just the same.

Sniper 2 missed.......2006-09-28

I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy Sniper [1] to some degree (the inflight ballistics were neat), but this sequel is beyond my capacity. The "7.92mm German Mauser" identified early in the film is clearly a Russian Mosin-Nagant. The stock, the single stack 5-round magazine extending below the stock, the bolt, the iron sights are ALL unmistakable.

Clearly this movie had no intention of appealing to anyone who knows anything about rifles or sniping. No military sniper would plan to engage a target at the rediculously close range of 200 meters. No sniper would trust a rifle handed to him without first verifying its zero. Even more laughable, Berenger is handed a scope for the Mosin-Nagant and presumably mounts it, but then proceeds to use it without zeroing it! And where would he shoot it to zero it while being hunted? He was better off just using the iron sights!

Sniper [1] was bad, but Sniper 2 is a complete waste of time.

I am a Bosnian,Croatian,and Serbian linguist, as is my wife. We watched this movie and were trying to figure out which Eastern European country they were in. We were suprised to learn that it is supposedly taking place in the Balkans. Well, it isn't Bosnia, because we didnt understand a damn word. If you are going to film a country in the Balkans, try using Bosnian, Serbian, or Croatian; especially if you are referring to Bosnia.
Total waste of time.....
Would not recommend this movie.

Do you really want to view excellent sniper movies that take place in the Balklands and are acually based on true life events? Then I highly recomend "SAVIOR" and "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART". Sniper 2 just isn't that good. Here's the problem. You send 2 people into the Balklands to carry out a secret covert mission and one of them is black? Isn't that as crazy as sending a white man on a covert mission into North Korea or Somalia and hoping he doesnt get noticed? And this mean looking black man walks down the middle of a busy street in white Serbia and no one even gives him a second look! ARE YOU SERIOUS! Who wrote this? This is Serbia! A nation with a long history of religious and racial intolerance! In recient times the persecution of Croates, Muslims, Gipsys and other nationalities is evident. Sergent Beckett picks up a rifle in some bunker and describes it as a German K98 Mauser, when in fact it's a Russian Mosin Nagent. I understand that to some this may seem trivial, but I like war movies to be resonably accurate and believable. (Enemy At The Gates, Saving Private Ryan) The action scenes were typical Hollywood. Cars dont always explode every time you run into them. Normally their just pushed out of the way. Yet the trolly rams 8 cars and all 8 of them explode. (CHIP'S, 1970's tv series freeway scenes.) You have 20 men armed with automatic assault rifles shooting at Sergent Beckett all at once yet he doesn't get hit one time but manages to shoot all enemies with a bolt action rifle that only holds 5 rounds. (Rambo maybe?) Just a few of the many flaws and I wont even get into the story line itself as this has already been covered in previous reveiws. Again I highly recomend "SAVIOR" and "SHOT THROUGH THE HEART". Two excellent movies based on real life stories without all the Hollywood BS.

Decent sequel.......2004-03-17

This is a pretty decent sequel to the first rate original. After all, this is a made for TV movie.
Tom Berenger owns the part of Thomas Beckett and is outstanding as the weary old sniper. This time he is sent on a dangerous mission to the Balkans and accompanying him is a death row inmate.
The plot is OK, the supporting actors are fine, plenty of action; the verdict: pretty decent flick.

Very well made thrillers........2005-07-15

The first sniper film staring Tom berenger as Thomas Beckett who is a professional army veteran and sniper and also staring Billy Zane as Richard miller who has won an olympic gold medal as a marksman, they are both assigned on a covert mission deep in the south american jungle to eliminate a notorious colombian drug cartel but all sorts of problems happen. The film is more like a psychological thriller and drama with a few great action scenes like when Miller first arrives in a hellicopter and almost gets gunned down. Its obvious that these two films are low budget but they were made very well with an inteligent story, the second film takes place in the Balkans on a dangerous rescue and assassination mission with a deathrow inmate, seargent Thomas Becket who is retired goes on a final mission this time the film has more action scenes to it than the first which I thought was O.K. but not as good as the first film. There were no stealth manouvering and it seems like they just wanted it be more like a standard action film, now if you don't like straight to video action films then you shouldn't even think about getting these films but if you do then I deffinently recommend these two as both of these films are entertaining in their own way.

Pure Cinema Magic.......2004-05-05

Sniper One is a fantastic movie which accurately depicts the life of a sniper in South America. Billy Zane does an excellent job of playing a government desk employee. Sniper Two has much more action and a new twist around every turn. Tom Berenger does a tip-top job. He is cinema gold in this amazing movie. Sniper 1 and 2 are my favorite movies of all time. A must see for everyone!

Underrated movie - small budget but still interesting........2007-05-28

I liked this movie for no other reason than the fact that it is small budget but still is effective in discussing the profession of a sniper. The movie has many rough edges as far as acting, accuracy and story line go, but it does convey the essence of being a sniper. For a small production, this movie is quite watchable.

One of the best Tom Berenger movies since Platoon. The next sniper movies didn't even come close. Billy Zane acts well in this movie compared to others.

Kind've your basic male-bonding movie, set in Panama's jungles. Tom Beringer still has this lost soul quality about him that sucks me in. Very good suspense, but predictable Hollywood ending.

Very Good.......2005-09-12

This was very good. Yes, some parts were not realistic and some were taking "artistic license" with the facts, but it was still pretty good. One of the psychological twists was good and the kind that probably happens a lot. It came out in 1993, so it has some age, but it looks good. At least they kept it short -- unlike today when a 100min movie becomes a 300min movie with an intermission.
