Description
This "gripping" (The New York Times) psychological thriller starring Jamie Lee Curtis "hums with an electric current" (Variety) as it vividly depicts a female cop's mental and physical struggles with an obsessed psychopathic killer. Hypnotic and riveting, Blue Steel's "tightly strung" (The Hollywood Reporter) plot will keep you suspended until the very last frame! Rookie cop Megan Turner (Curtis) orders a burglar to drop his gun. He whirls to shoot. Too late. Turner fires, killing him instantly. But she doesn't know that someone has been watching. And when that someone lifts the assailant's gun from the crime scene, carves Turner's name into the bullets and uses them in a series of murders, Turner is drawn into a deadly game of wits with a psychopath who's always one step ahead
and much closer than she thinks!

Neither Here Nor There.......2007-05-26
The plot is simple enough. Megan Turner ( Curtis ) shoots and kills an armed robber in a grocery store. Eugene Hunt ( Ron Silver ) picks up the robber's gun and has some fun with it at Megan's expense.
Meanwhile, the poor rookie policewoman has trouble convincing her superiors that the robber was indeed armed as the weapon was never recovered from the scene.
Then comes the less than believable twist. The psycho who stole the gun befriends Megan and even succeeds in winning her heart! The rest of the movie is totally predictable. There is hadly any violence or nudity in this movie. I wonder why it's reated R.
Blue Steel.......2007-01-10
Just love Jamie Lee Curtis in this movie. She shows how stong she can really be and get the bad guy.
deceiving.......2004-09-15
been long time since ive seen this movie i rent it before buying it in dvd and i was desapointed i thought there was more action
Likable if Far From ' Perfect '.......2004-09-05
There are some things to love about Blue Steel but there are some things that make the movie go sour before it even begins. Jamie Lee Curtis plays a rookie cop whose life is turned upside down by an obsessive man who happens to be the city's recent serial killer. After seeing Megan Turner ( Curtis ) kill a robber ( Tom Sizemore ) in a grocery store, Eugene Hunt ( Ron Silver ) goes on a mission to not only acclaim legendary status with his own murders, but win the heart of Megan and he goes about this in some very twisted ways. He soon ends up making it look like Curtis is the killer in hopes that it brings her closer to him. Blue Steel is very suspenseful and you must give it points for keeping the tension high, but it lacked a lot in the plot and characterization departments.
First off, we needed at least a little background on Ron Silver's character. Granted I understand the director probably kept this a secret on purpose, but she should have shared just a tiny hint of how this stockbroker can count change during the day but kill innocent bystanders at will during the night.
Secondly, the romance factor was totally off. Instead of having Silver obsessed with Curtis, the script should have concentrated more on her capturing him once she found out he was a serial killer. Curtis' character danced around the real police work for the first hour then finally decided to do real police work when the film was almost over. As for the obsession, sorry but I couldn't go for that. Jamie Lee is attractive in her own way but I don't believe she's the kind of woman someone would get so obsessed with. And when Silver blurts out that line: " You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life ", I couldn't keep a straight face. In some parts the dialogue wasn't realistic at all and was terribly out of place. The longest scenes are the ones that should have been cut short. We should have seen more one on one interaction between Silver and Curtis since these were the primary characters. Instead Curtis spends most of her time with the police, trying to claim her innocence. There are so many silly scenes in the film you can spot them a mile away. Blue Steel is very graphic and at times uncomfortable, especially when Silver brutally rapes Curtis while trying to choke her with a gun in his hand. This didn't seem necessary but thrown in for shock. The best part of the film was the end duel between Curtis and Silver. This was one of the most entertaining shooting scenes ever filmed for an actress and it was well worth it. Jamie held her own with the last scenes alone.
Ron Silver was fantastic and should have gotten an Oscar for his portrayal of Eugene. Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't quite fit the cop role and you get sick of people saying how beautiful she is throughout the entire movie. Blue Steel is a one time deal. You'll either love it or hate it. I loved it despite its flaws. For some it warrants going out and buying the DVD though you get no extras whatsoever. For others, they may want to save their money and watch it on Encore. It seems to pop up there a lot these days. In other words, Blue Steel does different things to different people.
One of Jamie Lee's finest roles!.......2004-01-24
Jamie Lee Curtis is one of Hollywood's more diverse actresses-- from being heralded the "Scream Queen" for such films as HALLOWEEN and THE FOG, to comedic genuis in A FISH CALLED WANDA and TRUE LIES. Her portrayal of a rookie cop who becomes the target of an obsessed stalker (Ron Silver) after her first assignment on the force solidifies her acting abilities and film repertoire. Ron Silver plays the Wall-Street-broker-turned-psychopath flawlessly.
BLUE STEEL is a cop flick with a twist which, unlike many films in the genre, showcases a lead female's descent through the police force. Amir M. Mokri's encompassing and somber cinematography, Brad Fiedel's ambient and chilling musical score, and Kathryn Bigelow's cool, detatched direction, combined with the excellent cast which also includes Louise Fletcher, Clancy Brown, and Elizabeth Peña, makes for a unique, entertaining, and esthetically pleasing film!

Dein Perry's Tap Dogs is a different kind of tap-dance show, emphasizing rugged masculinity, driving rock music, and a set rooted in the Australian steel industry. Now Perry tells his own story in the 2000 autobiographical drama Bootmen. Anyone who saw the summer 2001 blockbuster Pearl Harbor will find a familiar plot: A reckless hotshot tests the patience of his mentor, but his undeniable talent lands him a rare work opportunity. He leaves behind his friends and his girl, and when he returns unexpectedly, he finds that his girl has taken up with his best friend. In this case, the hotshot is hoofer Sean (Adam Garcia, who cofounded the original Tap Dogs troupe and played the lead in the stage version of Saturday Night Fever), and the best friend is his brother, Mitchell (Sam Worthington), who had a one-night stand with his girl (Sophie Lee). Along the way, Sean decides to create his own dance troupe and put on a benefit show, which allows for elements of The Full Monty and Brassed Off (depressed industrial town needs a lift) and October Sky and Billy Elliot (father doesn't approve). OK, so the plot isn't any great shakes, but the dancing is terrific--flashy, hard-edged, and gritty, using steelworks machinery as props. If you're a fan of Tap Dogs, you'll enjoy this backstage look at the troupe, but if you're here just for the dancing, you might prefer to start with the original full-length show. --David Horiuchi
Description
Sean (Adam Garcia), a small-town steelworker realizes a lifelong dream when he's invited to audition for a big city, dance show. hired, then fired for out-dancing and out-punching the show's star, he returns home only to find his girlfriend (Sophie Lee) in the arms of this brother. Now, with only the ramins of his dream to hold on to, he persuades his old tapping mates to form their own dance troupe, much to the embarrassment of his steel-working father. A smart blend of comedy, great dancing and natural energy, Bootmen is "a real pulse-raiser" (National News Syndicate) with a "rousing feel-good climax" (Daily Variety).

Great Movie!.......2007-05-13
Searched for this movie on DVD for years but could only get it on VHS. A gotta see movie! Aussie's do a great job!
grinding on the rails.......2007-01-09
At first the story is a little slow, the story of two sons and a Father. Of course there's always one son who wants to make it on his own instead of going into the family business. He's interested in tap dancing. Anyway, the brothers both like the same girl. The girl gets pregnant.... The tapdancer decides to make a show with his buddies and he invents these metal plates to put on his shoes, they're not taps. Anyway, I liked it! There was music and tapdancing metal sounds. If you like music and a little drama..it's perfect for you.
Gary w. SC .......2006-12-10
I first seen the movie when it was shown on cable. I only caught the last 30min. of the show and really liked it! I new then I had to have it! since
I have it now I watched the hole movie with my family, good acting, great
dancing! and I loved the australia setting! now the reason for the 4 star
rating! to much unneeded foul language! and they shortend the dvd release
by 18 min. I'm trying now to find the original 111 min. version.
hope this was helpful?
Great music & tapping, but storyline was light........2006-11-12
The music and tapping was really good. The storyline could have been much stronger with character development. I enjoyed the movie and will definitely watch it again.

Diehard 70's Lynyrd Skynyrd Fan.......2006-12-23
Forgive me, but I've tried SO HARD to feel the magic of the old Lynyrd Skynyrd towards the current incarnation. I've tried to like the "new" Lynyrd Skynyrd, but sorry, Jack...no can do. I'll stick to the tried and true. The original Lynyrd Skynyrd had heart and I can tell that the current band is playing the music for the money, not for the joy of it. Lynyrd Skynyrd, in essence, died on October 20, 1977. Let the old band rest in peace. Fly on free bird, you're free! I'll always miss you!
great dvd.......2006-07-02
I love skynyrd... Thanks to my dad I grew up on them... Although I was not born untill 83 and never got to see Rony v z live i did see the new group with Johnny v z twice. I love Johnny I ( sorry Rony) think that Johnny is a better singer and that the band is better now that they are more mature but that happeneds as you get older.. I would buy this dvd again if I had to... I love it.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Lyve from Steel Town.......2006-03-27
Got it fast and in good condition.
Excellent Video of a Great Concert..........2005-08-06
Like all concert videos, this is a record of a moment in time... Skynyrd in concert 1997... Already almost ten years ago... Forget that this is not the Skynyrd band of the '70s... This group, in this concert, is a great band playin' a rockin' show... Johnny, Gary, Rickey, Hughie, Leon on bass, and Billy on Keyboards, all give great performances... They all go for it, and look like they are enjoying the process... Johnny Van Zant is doing a fine job of carrying on his brother's legacy... The mix of Rickey Medlocke and Hughie Thomasson on guitars is magic... These guys play their hearts out... Watching Rickey Medlocke's emotion playing Skynyrd's beautiful ballad "Simple Man" is worth the price of admission...
Again, the video captures a memorable moment in the ongoing saga of this band... Hughie Thomasson is no longer with the band, and Leon Wilkeson has sadly since passed... So if you're a Skynyrd fan, do yourself a favor and watch this concert, and enjoy a part of Skynyrd history...
Lynyrd Skynyrd Keeps Getting Better!.......2005-04-02
If you're a LS fan, you'll be pleased with Lyve from Steel Town DVD. It's all great - the guitars, drums, piano, and the female singers make Voodoo Lake phenomenal! When they sing Travelin' Man, Medlocke dons a beautiful blue shirt, and white cowboy hat! Girrrrr-l! Then, Johnny VZ sings Travelin' Man and Ronnie VZ, appears on a big screen, singing with his brother! What a brainstorm! There's a genius at work here. Buy it - you'll love it!

C6th Tuning, Strings Low to High -- C-E-G-A-C-E
This DVD/CD set is geared toward musicians (in particular guitar players) who would like to add some Lap Steel Guitar music to their repertoire. The CD has 4 tracks played by professional musicians. The Visual on these movies is from a Live Lesson point of view, the student should concentrate on their own instrument while listening to the instruction.
Movies contained on the DVD:
C6th Tuning
Listen to the sounds. You can use the DVD to help you tune your guitar if you don't have an electronic tuner. GeorgeBoards demonstrates tuning on an 8 string guitar and how the center strings are used for the 6 string guitars, you can learn on either a 6 string or 8 string instrument.
Bar control
The most important movies are in this section. You should watch these first and repeat as often as needed to understand how the Lap Steel works. This movie focuses on proper bar technique for holding, pressing, and positioning. Each of these movements of the bar is particular to Lap Steel Guitar playing, as are vibrato styles including making little circles and rolling to produce vibrato that helps you play in tune with other instruments.
Basics
The movie in this section shows close ups of both hands and demonstrates use of several possible combinations of strings.
1-4-5 Chords
This movie progresses to show how chords are associated with frets. Most sounds are produced by playing the 2nd and 5th strings. With only these 2 strings you can play chords F, Bb, and C.
1-4-5 Angles (slants)
Playing angles (slants) and sliding are some of the more entertaining attributes of the Lap Steel Guitar. In this movie you see how to get from F to Bb7th (1 chord - 4 chord) with a simple twist of the bar and get a visual on how to properly change frets to get 1-4-5 chord progressions.
Slide in
This is another great section for learning some of the basics of the Lap Steel Guitar. You learn how to walk up three frets and play a simple scale that fits 1-4-5 chords.
Guitar licks
Most guitar players are already familiar with licks played in the key of A. This demonstration using the A chord should resonate and help enhance transference of existing knowledge to the Lap Steel Guitar.
Country licks
Lots of country songs use the Key of F. You can use strings 1 and 4 and this reverse angle (slant) technique to play along. Add strings 2 and 5 to create a scale sound. You'll see the same lick demonstrated in the Key of A along with the track.
Melting notes
Use another bar technique and play 3 and 4 notes with the tip of the bar on 2 strings combined with angles (slants) to get some real distinct sounds on the 12th fret in the Key of C.
Buddy E lick
Have fun with this lick in the Key of C.
This is one of our most popular DVDs, Basics and Blues is a favorite of musicians worldwide.
NTSC standard playable in the USA and Canada, Japan and many other international players.

Interesting and entertaining if low budget.......2006-03-04
This "B" western was made over 70 years ago and it was how John Wayne got his start before appearing in longer and bigger budgetted movies like "Stagecoach" and "The Searchers". Wayne used to make 6 to 8 of these a year and they were real "quickies". If you watch this with the right frame of mind and you're not expecting too much, you'll find it worthwhile. It's over in an hour too. Lots of fistfights and chases on horseback and not a lot of dialogue in this and many of the B Westerns of the day. 3.5 Stars.

Customer Reviews:
An excellent early western with John Wayne.......2005-09-24
George Hayes didn't always look like "Gabby" in the early Lone Star Pictures productions from the early 1930s, but he certainly does here in Blue Steel in the role of the mustachioed, chawin' and spittin' sheriff Jake. He is hot on the trail of the Polka Dot Bandit, whose thieving ways are becoming legendary in the area. He thinks he knows who the bad guy is, having seen John Carruthers (John Wayne) messing around behind a recently emptied safe. The two men unexpectedly become partners of a sort, though, when a young lady rides up with a gang of outlaws on her tail. Both men quickly become involved with the travails of the local town, the population of which is without ammunition and almost out of food because of these same outlaws pouncing on every stagecoach that tries to approach with the necessary provisions. One of the town's most upright citizens takes the girl in and generously offers a decent sum of money to those townspeople who choose to leave rather than hang around to starve to death. There's gold in them there ranches, just underneath the topsoil, and a man who owned all of the land could do quite well for himself. Gabby Hayes and John Wayne are a dynamic duo, and the "surprises" each man holds back from the other one until the end make for some very interesting and somewhat humorous moments. Blue Steel may be your standard early western from 1934, but it is a most enjoyable movie to watch.
ONE OF JOHN WAYNE'S MANY B WESTERNS.......2005-05-11
A TOWN ON THE BRINK OF STARVATION IS SAVED WHEN A MYSTERIOUS STRANGER [JOHN WAYNE] COMES ALONG AND DISCOVERS THAT THERE'S GOLD THAT SOME CRIMINALS DON'T WANT THE TOWN TO FIND OUT ABOUT. PREDICTABLE AND NOT ENOUGH ACTION. IF THE FILM HAD A LITTLE MORE ACTION TO IT, THIS ONE COULD'VE BEEN ALRIGHT. RECCOMENDED ONLY FOR DIE-HARD FANS OF JOHN WAYNE.
