The Cat Gogen Yamaguchi This historic video is a documentary on Gogen Yamaguchi, Hanshi 10th Dan and founder of Japanese Goju Ryu Karate and the rise of the Goju Kai. It includes a biography of Yamaguchi Sensei detailing his life in Karate Do, an instructional portion featuring the kicking, punching and blocking techniques of Japanese Goju. A demonstration of the Goju Kata Sanchin, Tensho, Saifa, Sanseiryu, Shisochin, Seienchin, Seisan, Seipai, Kururunfa and Suparenpei. It also includes rare historic footage of Yamaguichi Sensei's training camp which includes his outdoor training, breaking techniques, kata and kumite. The tape contains Yamaguichi sensei's famous Seishin Renshu "spirit training" and waterfall meditation on Mt. Karuma in Japan. The video concludes with Yamaguichi Sensei's funeral ceremony and a special demonstration of the Goju Kai Hakutsuru or White Crane Kata demonstrated by Goshi Yamaguichi, Yamaguichi Sensei's youngest son. This documentary style video is a piece of history and a must for the serious martial arts collector. 60 min.

A truly awesome dvd. It is an incredible honor to be able to watch Yamaguchi perform. I highly recommend this rare historical video.

Gogen Yamaguchi video contains only shadows moving in the dark!
No resolution, no contrast...looking at the same video on internet is much much better! I bought a DVD!!!!!!!!

Interesting but disappointing.......2006-03-04

The DVD contains everything that the editorial review promises but in really poor quality. The DVD disc is a DVD-R that the manufacturer reproduced very cheaply and although the cover says that it is digitally remastered, the quality of the DVD is really quite appalling, being very amateurish and in some parts, simply not watchable. Although the content will make me watch it again, I'm really disappointed that I've had to pay so much for something of such poor quality.

Goju Ryu Kata done by the master.......2004-07-14

I have been searching for a dvd with all of the Goju Ryu kata on it so that I could learn and practice them and this dvd not only has them all on it but many of them are done by Gogen Yamaguchi himself. I couldn't be more excited about this dvd. It is amazing.

So it's not High quality,SO WHAT?.......2003-10-23

This looks to have been put together quite awhile back. If you want High Quality,bring Gogen Yamaguchi back from the dead and do a retake. This footage is very rare and you probably won't find it anyhere else (I haven't). So quit whining and watch it for what it is-- Very rare footage of Grand Master Gogen Yamaguchi. Excellent Historic Footage!
