I find it's not funny at all........2007-08-18
I find it's not funny at all. I don't know why British-style comedies usually do not attract me. So far, the only British comedies I like are Mr. Bean, Benny Hill show and Charlie Chaplin.
The only way to complete the collection.......2007-05-11
This motion picture, is not included in the MGM collection, it's a need to get it, to complete the PINK PANTHER series.
Pretty darn good for a sequal !!!!.......2007-03-26
Hey, for the third installment of the Pink Panther franchise. It's not that bad. The acting was excellent as ususal. The plot is a simple one. The famous Pink Panther diamond is stolen once again and all clues are pointing to that rouge jewel thief "The Phantom". Clouseau is brought in to solve the case. But there is one problem, this time "The Phantom" aka ,Sir Charles Lytton really didn't do it this time. So, now both Closeau and Lytton must race to figure out this mystery before they are both killed.
Good but not the best.......2007-01-23
One of better movies from Jacq Clusoe series, although not the best. There are some dull moments but also plenty of laughs supported by Peter Sellers antics. Recommended for "Pink Panther" series funs but also for those who love European comedies in general.
it's a no brainer.......2007-01-20
Never did understand why the powers that be did not include this title in the DVD Boxed Set. For the serious collector of Peter Sellers or Pink Panther, this movie is a must have. Personally, I think it's the funniest out of all of them. Purchase with no fear my humor loving friend.

Hoodwinked fuses the classic fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood with the crisscrossing storylines of film noir--pretty ambitious stuff for a computer-animated cartoon. The police cordon off Grandma's cottage and an amphibious version of William Powell named Nicky Flippers (voiced by David Ogden Stiers, M*A*S*H) begins interrogating the suspects: A Little Red in bell-bottoms (Anne Hathaway, Ella Enchanted), a Wolf turned investigative journalist (Patrick Warburton, The Woman Chaser), a snow-boarding Granny (Glenn Close, 101 Dalmatians), and a dimwitted would-be Woodsman (Jim Belushi, Curly Sue), each of whom have very different reasons for ending up in that cottage living room. The visual style of Hoodwinked mixes a clunky, video-game look with an homage to the stop-motion puppetry of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and other Rankin-Bass holiday specials. While sometimes awkward, there are also moments of surreal beauty, such as when a depressed Red wanders through a field of blue and red flowers--and moments of lunatic comedy, such as the Schnitzel song, which is irresistibly bizarre. The Shrek-style pop-culture references grow annoying, but the left-field goofiness of a yodeling goat points toward a far more distinct and delightful comic world. Also featuring the voices of Anthony Anderson (Kangaroo Jack), rapper Xzibit, and an especially witty turn by Andy Dick (NewsRadio) as a deceptively cute bunny rabbit. --Bret Fetzer
Description
So you think you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Don't be too sure. . . . One of your favorite fairy tales is turned upside-down and inside-out in what the L.A. Times called "high-energy, imaginative entertainment." With irreverent storytelling, spunk and wit, Hoodwinked delivers a comedy caper for the young, the young at heart and everyone in between. When the police arrive at Granny's cottage in the woods to answer a domestic disturbance call, it looks like just another open-and-shut case. But Red, Granny, the Big Bad Wolf and the Woodsman are not your usual suspects, as they have their own dark secrets, wily deceptions and conflicting accounts of the crime. Together, they must put aside their differences and find their own original twist on Happily Ever After in this "raucous, genre-busting, animated gem (Entertainment Weekly, The Must List)."

Looking For A Different Kind Of Animated Film?.......2007-09-08
Now here is a modern-day animated film that is hard to classify. It's part film noir, part fantasy, part comedy, part Indiana Jones adventure, part Thin Man detective, on and on. One thing for sure: although kids might like it, this movie is geared more for adults. Even older adults as some of the humor is referenced by classic movies.
I doubt if this was a hit movie probably because of the above. Animated films need to be geared toward young kids who want to see it, and then get their parents to take them to the theater. I'm not complaining, just explaining why some of you may not have heard of this film. I heard about it by accident.
More than the geared-toward adults-dialog, what fascinated me were the visuals. This is beautifully drawn with magnificent colors that are not bold and bright, Although most animated films of today feature bright and bold colors, which look fantastic, this looked good, too, because of the richness of the colors. It's hard to describe; you have to see it. It just looks different, but very pleasing to my eyes.
Overall, the story was only so-so and sometimes lagged in the first half of it, but I get the feeling this DVD will rise in my ratings as I see it multiple times. If you are looking for an animated film and story that is different, look no further.
TWITCHY!!!.......2007-07-17
So many people rave about Shrek, films from Pixar etc. The last one I remember being absolutely raved about was Cars. Why I don't know. Granted I haven't seen it, but my Dad loves films like that, so no doubt I'll be watching it at some point. Shrek is so packed full of injokes, and references to movies, that even most of it goes over my head, never mind the audience it's aimed at.
Hoodwinked pretty much passed me by when it was originally released in the cinemas in the UK. All I remember thinking is that it looked interesting, and a very good concept, and then I promptly forgot all about it. But then I got it as a present, and yes, it seemed to grab my attention more. It was made for a much lower budget than the silly money that's thrown at stuff like Shrek etc these days, but there is no visual difference. To me anyway.
To start with, I was very disappointed. I couldn't follow the storyline, but then it all started to click in, the little bits that are pointed out to you, that makes you go "aaaahhhh". I didn't spot as many injokes, they're not so in-your-face as for example Shrek, and one I was already told about (the Wolf basically being Fletch). I didn't spot the Kill Bill reference, mainly because I haven't seen it.
It's full of more memorable characters as well, not characters who you'll only remember for who voiced them more than anything else. Judging by my title for this, I loved Twitchy. I had the subtitles on so I could understand what he was meant to be saying, and each time I found it funnier than the previous time.
It's a really engaging story for both young and old, but unfortunately, with the days of Shrek, Cars etc upon us, it will be sadly overlooked. But it's a wee gem to be picked up and laughed over. Definitely a must. But a singing/yodelling goat?! Who sits on his horns?! Hilarious.

Isn't it just grand when someone takes an old story and turns it on it's head and makes something remarkably clever out of it? How neat is this?..... to find something so NEW in a story SO old!
What happens to be going on here is:
Remember Little Red, and her story? Well, did you ever ask yourself if you got the correct story...all of it? The directors and brains behind this great little animation did just that....they have cleverly devised an "inquest", and all the characters of the story get grilled on what happened, and what they saw and did. This is so cool! Don't be worried about the people who said it stunk or was boring...obviously they couldn't figure out the premise here! Take my word and check out this VERY creatively done, REthought, slightly bruised, story. ~operabruin
(by the way, if you were wondering, the other two animated greats of 2006 are: "Over the Hedge", and "Happy Feet"--pick them up, also, as all are charming.)
Wow- this was a BORING, uninteresting stinker..........2007-06-19
...and it looked good from the trailers. So I finally rented it. Watched the first 30 minutes and found it too ANNOYING for some reason & just hard to keep any interest in. So I stopped it & did other stuff. The next day, my cousin says, come over and we'll watch a movie. I said I had Hoodwinked and she said to bring it over because she wanted to see it. Again, after 30-40 minutes, we both looked at each other and stopped it. We both agreed it was annoying, uninteresting and definately NOT funny. If you want to laugh, then just rent Fletch.

Witty! Clever! We watch it all the time........2007-05-25
I love this movie. My son has a bunch of kids movies, and when he wants to watch one together this is always the one I want to put in.
It's got grown up humor, but not "adult" humor, so you don't have to worry about your kid repeating something awful. I hear a new one-liner or witty remark every time I watch it. Without exception I laugh out loud when we watch it. It's got quick, humorous dialoge, and good music (catch myself singing little snippits of tunes around the house). All this and my kid (5 when we got it, 6 now) thinks it's hilarious, too.
Most of the characters are really likable and well done. There is one character I wish they'd have cast with a different voice, and Little Red Riding Hood could have been designed a little cuter or softer, but the movie's good features make up for the little shortcomings.
Really funny. Can't decide which character I like best -- probably the wolf, but the goat's pretty darn funny, too.

A Latina woman from the Bronx shakes up her life--which consists of a difficult marriage and three kids--by taking a job at a Manhattan recording company. Playing the central character, Lauren Vélez has a captivating rough beauty that suggests her suspension between misery and grace. Director Darnell Martin also has a kind of unpolished approach that keeps the film looking a bit amateurish. But Martin's observations of and insights into the heroine's world--a slice of American Latino life that hasn't been particularly well represented on film--are original and potent. Griffin Dunne is very good in a supporting role as the heroine's exploitative boss. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
I liked it like that!!.......2007-06-20
This movie has been out for years but I just stumbled upon it recently on late night cable TV.
I loved it! It was wonderful. I loved the emphasis put on the Puerto Rican community, I loved the up close, gritty look at average New York life. I loved the interactions between Chino, Lisette and the kids, they weren't perfect parents, but they loved their kids. I just loved how realistic it all was.
I'm a black woman, born and raised in California, I have no idea how life in the Bronx is but I definitely related to a lot in this movie.
My favorite character was Alexis, she was a trip!
5 stars!
Wepa que viva Puerto Rico!.......2007-01-17
This is one of my all time fave movies. Jon Seda did an excellent job as he always does. I especially loved seeing my idol from childhood Rita Morena ( and fellow Humacao resident) act in this movie. This movie is a must see! So much good Boricua acting going on!
Attempt.......2006-11-12
I think this movie made a decent attempt to capture the struggle of living in poverty as Nuyoricans. It has a good amount of poignant moments from beginning to the very end and also its equivalent share of wacky hilarious moments, which I wont spill and spoil for you that should buy this movie if even you are latino or not, it doesnt matter. I think anyone can relate or try to the struggles we personally face or others do. I think the fact that I expected too much realism, being Puerto Rican myself, was a reason why I could not digest the exaggeration it portrayed. If you want more realism about what it truly means to be hispanic or want to know more and you are not , please, please check out Manito I promise you will not regret it and will feel so much more moved than this movie.
sweet.......2006-11-06
As a Lauren Valez fan I would have loved this film even if she just came on screen and recited the alphabet. This is a sweet film about the trials of relationships when you have friends and family involved. Jon Seda is great as a tough working father whose wife and family is his Achilles heel. Lauren Valez is the young mother who has to think fast when her husband ends up in jail. Fans of either actor would like this film, it's from the early 1990's, and you can see that their acting skills were still being honed at this stage. I really did like the film though, especially the ambiguous ending. Not bad for a Friday evening treat after a hard week at work.
perfect love story.......2006-07-09
I have always loved this movie. It made me cry and it also made me laugh. If your a young woman or man you will love everything about this movie.

Mel Gibson set aside his art-house credentials to star as a crazy cop paired with a stable one (Danny Glover) in this full-blown 1987 Richard Donner action picture. The most violent film in the series (which includes three sequels), it is also the edgiest and most interesting. After Gibson's character jumps off a building handcuffed to a man, and Gary Busey (as a cold, efficient enforcer) lets his hand get burned without flinching, there is a sense that anything can happen, and it usually does. Donner's strangely messy visual and audio style doesn't make a lot of aesthetic sense, but it stuck with all four movies. The DVD release includes production notes, Dolby sound, theatrical trailer, optional full-screen and widescreen presentations, optional French soundtrack, and optional English, French, and Spanish subtitles. --Tom Keogh
Description
With over seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes, the director's cut of Lethal Weapon is a long-overdue present for fans. Riggs' solitary homelife and the tragic loss spurring him in a reckless disregard for his own safety now come into greater focus. We see that recklessness is new scenes underlining the differences between the two cops. Murtaugh, just 50, needs reassurance about his skills at a firing range. Riggs, not caring if he sees another birthday, coolly walks into a schoolyard sniper's field of fire. All the humor and adrenaline that made this original an entertainment milestone are here, too. No scenes have been removed. But new action and new insight are now included. Include yourself in the excitement.

A good old movie transfer to HD-DVD - BUY IT........2007-05-07
It's a good try and transfer of old movie to HD-DVD good action and interesting topic.
All in favor say 'die'!.......2007-02-27
It may well have appeared fresh and exciting back in 1987 but Lethal Weapon is soaked in so many 80s clichés it's sometimes hard to take it seriously. First of all we have the maverick cop on the edge who doesn't play by the rules but gets results. Second we have him being teamed up with a by-the-book partner. Third...it's all about drugs. There are countless more, from LA setting to the Vietnam vet psycho stuff and even all the way down to the deep voiced trailer guy saying stuff like 'They'll have to work together even if it kills them' and so-forth.
Opening with long travelling shot of LA, complete with an agonizingly 80s credit front, Lethal Weapon begins with the death of a porn actress, high on cocktail of white powders, who thinks she can fly. But what she really gets is a 20-storey descent to the parking lot, the fast way. I first saw Lethal Weapon on TV in about 1990 and this scene had pretty much everything cut from it, the nudity, the drugs, it's amazing people actually made sense of films back then.
Anyways, before I go off on a tangent rant, the dead girl is actually the daughter of a crooked banker involved in heroin smuggling. LAPD Sargeant Roger Murtaugh is his old pal and takes the case, but not before being teamed-up with renegade, suicidal cop Martin Riggs. Together 'They don't make the rules, they break them' and 'They'll have to survive each other first' and 'blah blah blah!' Honestly, the wafer-thin plot of Lethal Weapon has truly perished with time. Bad guys smuggle heroin, cops kill them for it. There are multiple, totally absurd elements such as Riggs being a Vietnam vet despite only being about 30 at the time (meaning he was 19 when the conflict ended), the rolling around with the gun firing a gun blindly but still hitting targets is hard to swallow, the martial arts showdown seems to come out of nowhere and belongs in a different film, kids recognizing tiny Special Forces tattoos from a significant distance and the contrived death of Murtaugh's daughter's never seen boyfriend.
In fact, a LOT of this film is contrived and rather ramshackle. Shane Black IS a great writer but this film is just too underdeveloped. We never get to see the heroin or learn anything about how the villains do business. There's not any decent amount of mystery solving or police procedure and there is absolutely NO reason at all for the film being set at Christmas. There is no festive, yuletide atmosphere or Xmasy themes. Plus, with the film being set in LA, Christmas is all blue skies and sun. It adds nothing at all.
What makes Lethal Weapon watchable however are the characters and the silly banter between them. Riggs and Murtaugh really seem to click with each other as pals and I think it's this that kept the sequels coming rather than the need to tell another macho action story set in LA.
And I do wish that Michael Kamen never used those damn saxophones! The score can frequently be quite jarring and annoying whenever those things start screeching. I have the limited edition score CD, but skip those tracks whenever I stick it on. But since Kamen has died in recent years I will spare him my rant over his misjudged score.
Unwisely regarded as a classic, Lethal Weapon only exhibits how to weave 40 million clichés into a macho action movie. The humor is what I like best, I can leave the rest to stagnate back in the 80s, where it really belongs.
The HD-DVD sports a great 1.78:1 1080p transfer with Dolby Digital+ sound. Extras are limited to a trailer and deleted scenes. Warner should really have issued the Director's Cut on HD. But still, it's a great step-up from the SD DVD.
Bad hair day Mel? .......2007-02-27
I chose this film thinking it would be Mel Gibson when he was still good. Yes, he was good, but I'd seen it many years ago, when I was still at school, and didn't remember. Until I was watching the film and thinking that I'd already seen this before. I had an inkling that I'd already seen it, when the girl jumped off the building (I think I had a moan about why she had to be almost topless the first time round) and then Mel gets out of bed. I definitely remember that scene! Damn.
The thing about watching Lethal Weapon now, is that it's been either spoofed too many times or it's been copied so many times. Almost every 80s cop movie is like this. Good cop, bad cop. Neither wants a partner. Then they realise they can't work without each other. And it spawns some mediocre sequels. In the case of the spoofing, see Loaded Weapon, with Emilio Estevez and Samuel L Jackson.
There was nothing particularly stand out about this film - apart from Mel's hair, which was just awful - I liked the pairing of Mel & Danny, and I liked the albino Gary Busey, playing a bad guy, who doesn't even flinch at his arm getting burnt with a lighter. Ouch. The guy about to commit suicide from the top of the building and then having Mel's character handcuffed to him was the stand out scene for me, not including the opening scene.
The reason I'm only giving this 2 stars (which isn't going to go down to well with some reviewers) is because if I'd seen it when it originally came out, I probably could have given a higher rating. But we've seen it all before these days, and yes, it may have been a brilliant movie then, but not so much for me.
For me, I would like to see another sequel to this. Maybe Mel could grow his hair again? I mean, there is another Indiana Jones on the way, and another Die Hard. Lets revive Lethal Weapon shall we? You're never too old, as Harrison Ford is proving and Mel and Danny are both younger. They could still do it. Couldn't they? Maybe Mel could save his reputation.
Most reviewers consider this a classic, but in my case, it was worthy of a watch, but I don't remember being that impressed by it the first time round. (So much so that I didn't realise I'd already seen it!) If you saw it the first time, relive the happy memories, and watch it on HD, cos it amazing. (Bearing in mind I did see it on VIDEO, so anything is better than that.)
THE example of 80's action-buddie-cop-comedies; a "B+" .......2007-02-19
I don't think I can say very much that hasn't already been said, so I'll try and keep this brief: the "let's not take things too seriously" tone of this movie (helped largely by the musical score and the quick humor that runs throughout) are, for me, what make this movie so watchable - and rewatchable. I've seen the movie dozens of times now and it just doesn't get old. The action itself is perhaps starting to get a little quaint by today's standards, but it's the aforementioned tone and humor of the movie (aided by the perfectly cast Mel Gibson and Danny Glover) that still give it vibrancy and make it so enjoyable. This really is Mel Gibson's defining role in that he can play both the dramatic and comedic parts so well. If movies were defined solely by the number of times I've stopped to watch them while channel surfing, 'Lethal Weapon' would be at the top of my list - it's very entertaining and just a lot of fun.
Lethal Weapon turns 20!.......2007-01-24
LETHAL WEAPON turns 20 this year and in fact,it was one of 1987's highest-grossing films next to DIRTY DANCING,THREE MEN AND A BABY,PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES,FATAL ATTRACTION and MANNEQUIN. In this Warner Bros. action-packed film,Roger Murtaugh(Danny Glover) is a husband and a father of three who returns to the force after an extended hiatus. He is first seen soaking in his bathtub, then retreats downstairs to the kitchen with his beard shaved down to a moustache. He is far from enthused about his partner-in-crime,Martin Riggs(Mel Gibson). Martin is a mentally disabled individual who is a "lethal weapon". Martin often thinks he's a firearm of some sort. This behavior frequently aggravates Roger. But,they end up making a great team and becoming best buddies. Watch for a special appearance by Gary Busey(The Buddy Holly Story) as the criminal who's wanted. Darlene Love is Roger's wife Trish. Love is a singer as well who had a hit in 1963,(Today I Met)THE BOY I'M GONNA MARRY. Director Richard Donner reteamed with Gibson and Glover for three sequels released respectively in 1989,1992 and 1998.

Love 'em Leave 'em and Shoot 'em Up Bang 'em Up with happy ending.......2007-09-14
Remember the fun lovin 80's early 90's Christian Slater (Heathers, Pump up the Volume)? This is one of his golden nuggets. C.S. plays George Kuffs who leaves his pregnant girlfriend Maya Carlton played by Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil) because he's scared to commit. He then takes his brother Brad Kuffs played by Bruce Boxleitner (Tron, Babylon 5) out for his bithday to try to "borrow" (more) money so he can run away. His brother being such a good guy tries to hire him to work in his district (he owns a district as a police special in San Fransico, CA and merchants pay him for police protection) as a police officer but george just wants the money.
Brad gets shot and killed on his way to do his shift, George sees the gunman Kane played by Leon Rippy (The Patriot, Gridiron Gang) but can't prove Kane did it. However he has a chance for revenge and to redeem his short commings by becomming the new Police Special since Brad left his district to George. George must unravel why his brother was killed and uncover the true master mind (Sam Jones played by George De La Pena)behind all the trouble before his district is taken away and the criminals tare it up.
While doing all that he has to go to the police academy, where he finds out he's a great shot (great scene with Don S. Davis best known for his role in Stargate SG-1) He has to be boss to people who think he should just sell the district. He gets a chaparone, Ted Bulkovsky played by Tony Goldwyn (Ghost, Ghosts Never Sleep) a guy who's on probation for moral perpitude (he slept with the chiefs wife played by Alexandra Paul). George almost kills Ted with an over dose of sleeping pills in coffee before he finds out he's a good guy and that he could use his help to figure out this mystery. Oh and he also must win back Maya because he realized he made a mistake leaving her.
All in all a great addition to your video library. If your not in to owning you should at least rent it. This movie has action, comedy, and romance great for people who want it all. THANK YOU FOR READING!
Kuffs.......2007-08-30
Christian Slater! Where is he? I just love this film! I was so glad to find it was on DVD since I stupidly sold my VHS copy a while back. This is a great action, comedy adventure! Do yourself a favour and watch it!
What Great Movie Kuffs........2007-02-13
I forgot how funny this movie is kinda of a ferris bueller/fletch comedy thriller keep you on the edge of your seat while laughing too what a great movie. supporting cast is wonderful in this film you'll just love it.
It's PG-13 For Lauguage , Action Violence.
Time travel back to the early to mid 1980's.......2007-01-04
Now exceeding 20 years, this 1980's movie may attract
viewers on account of the big-name actress Ashley Judd in
it, although in reality she's shown for less than 90
seconds in the entire movie, and this in an action
sequence, showing a paint shop getting drilled with
machine gun fire. In that respect, KUFFS will be a major
disappointment for those expecting Judd to be at the
center stage.
In reality, the protagonist is the Jack Nicholson wannabe
or hopeful of the time, Christian Slater as well as the
city of San Francisco. Much like the other movie, also in
San Francisco, (TWISTED with Ashley Judd), that city is
prominently shown in various aspects, namely the world
reknowned bridge, and some surroundings of the area,
parks, hills, etc.
The story is not entirely serious, which is a benefit,
considering most people going to the movies want to relax,
so in this sense, the picture is successful, if not for
the not tasteless but redundant nudity involving Slater
and the lovely and young Milla Jovovich, playing his girlfriend.
The movie, from a visual point of view, works extremely
well, with many varied, sharp, colored and interesting
streets, buildings and filming locations chosen. Anyone
not having done tourism in that city or area will benefit,
much like that which is the case in another movie, showing
Raleigh, NC, "Kiss the Girls" with Morgan Freeman, for example.
There is a focus on the clothes people wear, obviously, as
the characters seem to only wear pastel-colored items that many
for some were trendy at the time, as made clear from other
movies, such as Miami Vice, also from the 80's, for example.
Ironically, in the opening sequence, the bad guy has his mug
shot stenciled onto his pastel T-Shirt, yet is covering his
face with a scarf, to avoid being later recognized. How
his victims would fail to remember to police the image seen on his
T-Shirt, to track him down, is less understood.
The weak spot, clearly, is the music, as it is had considerably
aged and seems considerably unsophisticated. In reality, the music may
or may not be a liability, considering often there's a
discrepancy in tastes and musical experience among the
audience, regardless of age, who themselves are very differnet
from one another.
A a recurring jingle is obviously inspired from the one heard
on Beverly Hills Cop, a big commercial success at about the
same year KUFFS was released.
Overall, KUFFS completely wasted Judd's acting talents, as
only 90 seconds were shown. On the other hand, for those
wanting a light-hearted time travel back to the early to
mid 1980's this is not a bad place to start.
Kuffs.......2006-01-15
This is a great Mid 90s movie.

When Burt Reynolds made his welcome comeback in Boogie Nights, he was doing his best to distance himself from the painful memory of movies like this unbearable 1993 comedy, which is almost saved by its generic good nature. Reynolds plays a seasoned cop teamed with an 8-year-old kid who dreams of someday wearing a real detective's badge. The movie takes place in Tampa, Florida, where little Devon Butler (Norman D. Golden II) witnesses a crime and is questioned by police for details. He'll tell what he knows, but only if he's allowed to be a cop for a while. The kid-hating Reynolds ends up the kid's reluctant partner. It's all done as a lark, of course, but the kid turns out to be a pretty good crime-fighter, and Reynolds comes to care for him when things get rough on their latest case. This ridiculous premise is every bit as contrived as it sounds. If you don't buy into it, Cop and a Half is about as enjoyable as a bout of influenza. If you can go with the flow, however (and that takes some effort), you may find yourself enjoying the chemistry between Reynolds and his half-pint partner. Director Henry Winkler makes it clear that it's all in the spirit of good, clean (and painfully formulaic) fun. Some will call it "cute," so let's not spoil their fun by suggesting otherwise. --Jeff Shannon

i loved it!.......2007-08-06
I got this movie for christmas years ago and watched it time and time again. I loved it! Its cute and funny. All around great family movie.
A Missable Reynolds Movie.......2007-04-02
Cop & A Half was one of the movie that continued the descent of Burt Reynolds' film career.
This falls under "the hard action crowd has deserted me so let me make a cute kid and a copy" movie. But even though Reynolds knows how to be charming, and the kid has the requisite cute factor, the movie is not watchable or enjoyable on any level.
Fortunately, Reynolds has made, and hopefully will in the future, make enough films that will help to blunt the impact of this stinker from moviegoers' minds.
Classic Kids Film.......2007-03-09
I remember watching this movie when it 1st came out in theaters. It was a good movie then and it's a good movie now:) I had my kids watch Cop and a Half for the 1st time last year and it's mega favorite of theirs as well:) love it love it love it!
poor burt.......2006-06-12
poor burt reynolds just couldn't catch a break when this one was cooked up. it really is just sad to see the once mighty burt taking any job to make money! this tale of an 8 year old who sees a murder and uses this to get to ride with a real cop, burt(looking very unhappy and a little tired)is the man the boy gets. then they both set out to stop the killer. sound silly, you bet and not very funny. the pits
A film and a half!.......2006-05-29
You have to question the judgement of reviewers such as Brooke 276 and Russell A Shiley who have given negative reviews to this classic piece of movie history. Perhaps they thought they were being funny giving negative reviews to an obviously excellent film? If the front cover, in which a small child is forcing the always excellent Burt Reynolds to wear some handcuffs as an amusing pair of comedy spectacles isn't funny enough in itself (it is) then nearly two hours of seeing why employing an 8 year old as a Los Angeles policeman would be a bad idea ought to be enough to convince even the most hardened cynic of the genius of this production. Go and buy this film now - you won't be disappointed!

this movie sucked juevos rancheros.......2006-07-22
if you liked classic 80s Chase, like Vacation or Three Amigos, heck, i'll even throw in Deal of the Century.... then you might think this movie really makes you gasp while reaching for your pelvic region... but then again... you could enjoy Curley with his crazy greying hair trying to relive the glory of City Slickers. but unlike slickers, this movie's "one thing" that every man must realize is that Chase couldn't even save this one, baby.
Cops and Robbersons is better than Citizen Kane.......2004-11-16
When you talk about the classics, you will now have to add this Chevy Chase gem to your discussion. Simply put, this film is the greatest work in the history of American film. People were laughing so hard in the movie theater that it was frightening. A fat woman in the back row rocked back, broke her chair, and dislocated two vertebrae. She refused medical treatment just to see how this hilarious epic ended!
Further, some people in the front row were so visibly shaken by the amazing chemistry between Chase and Palance that they started to light their seats on fire!
The fire department then arrived to try to put out the flames, but they just started laughing at Chevy Chase's brilliant physical comedy!
Luckily, the movie ended just as the flames were becoming uncontrollable! I missed some of the credits due to this large fire, but it was all worth it.
Cops and Robbersons is a must see! IT will go down as one of the classics...Citizen Kane, Casablanca, The Godfather, Cops and Robbersons
Funny!.......2003-01-09
I am a huge fan of both Chevy Chase and Jack Palance. This movie is worth-while, for sure. It is Chevy Chase at his best. One of the funniest scenes was with the garage door opener. Right before we watched the movie, we had a new opener installed and had some interesting experiences of our own. So we could relate. I do agree it was almost like a typical National Lampoon movie, but that's what makes it so good. I have seen better Chevy Chase movies, but I've never seen one that I didn't like. Buy it! If you are a true Chevy or Jack fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I wasn't! Get it today!
It's Chevy Chase. What more can I say?.......2002-04-26
"Cops & Robbersons" strongly reminds me of a Griswold Vacation movie. In fact, I kept expecting Chevy to call his kids Rusty and Audrey. The only difference is that the family in this film don't get to go anywhere. They are stuck at home with a couple of cops as live-in visitors. The police are doing surveillance on a criminal who lives in the house across the street.
Chevy is up to his old "Boy, am I a clueless ... or what?" routine. What's extremely frustrating is the fact that nobody around him gives it any thought. Look at these two examples: First, he hides the two cops in the closet (don't ask!) and his wife comes downstairs. She asks what the noise is coming from the closet. He states that it is the cat. Then the daughter comes down the stairs holding the cat. What does his wife think about that? Nothing. Another example is when Chevy asks his neighbor (who is under surveillance) if he could use his bathroom. While his neighbor is on the phone, Chevy sneaks upstairs and cuts open the guy's mattress to the point that springs are actually popping out. What does his neighbor think of this? Nothing!
I think you get the idea. The people in this film are so completely ignorant that the comedy falls flat. To make it worse, Jack Palance is downright vicious. I was absolutely stunned at something he stated to one of Chevy's kids. This is supposed to be a family movie. I can't tell you what he said because it violates Amazon's review guidelines against obscenity.
The only reason that this film gets 2 stars instead of 1 is the presence of Dianne Wiest. She appears as if she is in a film all her own. She is caring, charming and feisty all at once. However, I would only recommend this movie for diehard Wiest fans or for people who enjoy watching Chevy Chase act really dumb for 90 minutes.
Drop Dead Funny.......2000-12-24
Any fan of Palance or Davi will love this movie. Chevy Chase fans will be treated to a revamped version of his "National Lampoon" character, but played with a slightly more restrained hand. Robert Davi provides his usual stellar performance as the dangerous and disturbing next door neighbor, and Palance provides a hysterically funny twist to the movie; at the very beginning, you will see him feeding the dead fish in his office. It only gets better. This film is surprisingly realistic, delightfully cheesy, and the perfect Saturday night entertainment. Enjoy!
