"If it's blood you want, it's blood you're gonna get," screams Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) play-by-play announcer Joey Stiles. He's talking about the hardcore "Glass Match," which features two men sticking their taped hands in glue and then glass shards before doing battle... But, really, he could just as well be summing up all of ECW. Unlike the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling, ECW eschews flash and overwrought soap operas and focuses on brutal mutilation and, occasionally, some wrestling moves. This compilation tape (a follow-up to the extremely successful ECW: Extreme Evolution) of five matches showcases what makes ECW so popular among rabid wrestling fans. The collection starts with a four-man title match (featuring Chris Jericho, 2 Cold Scorpio, Pit Bull #2, and Shane "the Franchise" Douglas) that runs over 40 minutes and challenges any notions that these guys aren't athletes. It's exhausting. The centerpiece, however, is the Stairway to Hell match, featuring Sabu vs. Sandman. As you watch Sandman, head wrapped with barbed wire and gushing blood, repeatedly cane Sabu with a 4-foot stick, your month will just hang open. Perhaps the biggest star here, however, is Stiles. He's a maniac announcer with hilarious catch phrases like "Oh my gaaawwd!" sounding like South Park's Cartman calling wrestling. "Why watch bad boxing pay-per-view? You got ECW!" he bellows, and who can argue? --Dave McCoy
Description
ECW- Extreme Championship Wrestling returns with the second installment of what has emerged as the most talked about wrestling video available... "Path of Destruction". The voice of Joey Stiles gives exclusive commentary and insight to memorable ECW matches. P.O.D. delivers the high-flying, hard-hitting, brutal action that pushes the limits of insanity to the point where it can only be labeled HARDCORE!!!
Customer Reviews:
It's ECW. What do you expect?.......2007-06-15
Typical with ECW, it simply impresses. This small compilation of some of ECW's best really picks out the best (a hard thing to do) and displays them with impressive menus for a 2000 release, and introductions by Joey Styles for each match.
Really, what more can you expect from ECW but the absolute best in every field displayed? From the awesome championship match between Rob Van Dam and Bam Bam Bigelow, to the disgustingly brutal Stairway to Hell match between The Sandman and Sabu, to the amazing acrobatic and athletic feats of luchadores Rey Misterio jr and Psicosis, and the final match between Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko on ECW.
Every match on this DVD is at least an 8/10, and the absolute pinnacle in violence, brutality, and just wrestling. If violence isn't your thing, this DVD even provides you with matches just displaying the best in raw technical wrestling.
Just some of the best of ECW. A non-WWF/WWE supported DVD release. This ain't the same ECW you see Tuesdays on Sci-Fi.
ECW was the best wrestling promotion ever..........2007-04-19
....and nothing will probably ever top it. This DVD features many top-notch bouts from historical ECW wrestlers!!!!!! ECW was one of a kind, and what Vince is doing with it right now is HORRIBLE. ECW belt on the line on RAW? "This match is not an Extreme Rules" match? Weak wrestlers like CM Punk at the top? I would love CM Punk if he got obliterated every match, but since he is at the top of the card in ECW right now I must speak the truth - this DVD proves that the "New Breed" will never be 1% of what the real ECW was.
E-C-F'n-W.......2006-05-28
Another compilation of matches from various ECW TV shows & PPV's with an introduction to each match by Joey Styles.
Chris Jericho vs. Shane Douglas vs. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Pitbull #2 - This match was from Heatwave '96 & is full of historical highlights. It was the only four way match in ECW history along with one of the rare appearences of Chris Jericho in ECW (before going to WCW). This was also the match that saw Francince turn on the Pitbulls to start her long association with Shane Douglas and were Shane DDT's Pitbull #1 on the TV title belt breaking his neck (and that's no storyline, he really did it.) The match itself was a wrestling clinic as they went over 20 minutes without an elimination and unlike most elimination matches...it wasn't pinfall after pinfall after pinfall in just a matter of seconds. One of the greatest "wrestling" matches in ECW.
(Also available on "Bloodsport: ECW's Most Violent Matches")
Television Champion Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Rob Van Dam - The start of RVD's 23 month Television title reign. This was the match that took RVD from solid high mid-carder to main event status. One of the best big man vs. little man matches I've seen as RVD does all his high spots against Bigelow's power moves.
(Also available on Rob Van Dam "One Of A Kind")
Stairway To Hell Match: Sandman vs. Sabu - The object here was to climb up the ladder & grab barbed wire to use during the match. It was pretty brutal as Sandman took one hell of a fall off the ladder at one point through two tables & was bleeding like a stuffed pig. Good hardcore match between these two.
(Also available on "ECW: Extreme Rules")
Axl Rotten vs. Ian Rotten - This is the famous match that put ECW on the map for violence. Broken glass attached to their taped up hands held on by glue (ala the movie "Kickboxer"). This match is just for those who love to see just two guys beat the hell out of each other.
(Also available on "Bloodsport: ECW's Most Violent Matches")
Jerry Lynn vs. Tajiri vs. Super Crazy - This was from the November 2 Remember '99 and was a great three way dance that lived up to the standards that the previous encounters that included Little Guido had set. Tajiri's japanese style, Crazy's lucha libre, and Lynn's american style all mixed well here for a great quality match.
Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko - This was not only their final match in their "Guerrero-Malekno" classic series but also their final match in ECW. This was also a 2 out of 3 match that honestly was perfectly booked & both men recieved a sendoff that any wrestler in the world would want. The match itself can't be put into words as it showcased why Dean & Eddie are classified as two of the greatest wrestlers in this generation.
(Also available on Eddie Guerrero "Cheating Death, Stealing Life")
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Psicosis - This was their ECW debuts against each other. They mixed the classic lucha libre/crusierweight style with a mix of extreme action to create a different type of action never seen before in ECW & american...to the point that it caught Eric Bischoff's attention in WCW. Another awesome match to watch here.
DVD extras include various ECW promos from Steve Austin, Taz & Bill Alfonzo, Eliminators, Stevie Richards, Public Enemy, the Pitbulls & Francine. Also hidden is Brian Pillman's controversial ECW debut that results in a fan being assaulted along with a confrontation with Shane Douglas, Tod Gordon, and Paul Heyman.
The only match on here that was a complete flop was the match between the Rotten brothers. Besides that, the other matches were great quality and this DVD is recommended.
I'm not Realy a Kid I'm 16!!! Path of Destruction!!!.......2006-04-14
1-4 Corners TV Championship Elimination Match
Chris Jericho(C) vs Shane Douglas vs 2 Cold Scorpio vs Pit Bull #2
This is a Very Long Match but a Classic none the less! Lots of Innovative moves and great Wrestling by all 4 Men!! Hardcore and technical wrestling make this match an ECW classic!! The Franchise wins and Francine gets Superbombed through a table!10/10
2-World TV Championship
Bam Bam Bigelow(C) vs Rob Van Dam
Strength and Power vs Speed and Agility! Not Many weapons used and a small table break but still a great match. RVD does a HUGE senton off the top rope into the first row! RVD wins thanks to a Vandaminator and some help from Sabu and begins his near 2 year reign as TV Champ! 10/10
3-Stairway to Hell
Sandman vs Sabu
One of the most Hardcore Matches in History!!! A ladder leading to rolls of barbed wire hanging above! 5 Tables are destroyed! Sabu and Sandman bring sick, hardcore and innovative moves using the ladder, steel chairs, barbed wire, tables, singapore Canes(Sickest Shot Ever At The End), Sabu even uses a pair of Scissors to stab Sandman in the head! Sabu Breaks his Jaw in the Match! An Insane Match and Arguably the Most Hardcore Match in all of ECW!!! Sandman Wins! 10/10
4-Taipei Deathmatch
Axl Rotten vs Ian Rotten
Each Superstar tapes their fists up, dips them in glue and rolls them in broken Glass!! The Match itself is OK but it's probably the most bloody match ever! The blood pours and pours!!! Thumbtacks are used aswell! OK Match but VERY Bloody!! 9/10
5-3 Way Dance
Tajiri vs Jerry Lynn vs Super Crazy
Brilliant match! so innovative and high flying! Awesome moves, kicks and dives! These three superstars put on a picture perfect match and one of the best 3 Way Dances ever! Jerry Lynn picks up the Victory with a Cradle Piledriver! 10/10

The prime minister of Eritrea is assassinated by political opponents, setting off a chain of events with global repercussions in the intelligence community. Burt Lancaster plays Cross, a CIA operative who dates back to the agency's earliest days as the OSS. Scorpio (Alain Delon) is a protégé of Cross, and one of Cross's best friends in a netherworld where everyone's allegiances, personal and political, are in question. Higher-ups within the intelligence agency decide that Cross knows too much and is better off eliminated; at first, Scorpio refuses the job until the CIA frames him on a phony narcotics bust and coerces him into the assignment. The two men play a game of global cat-and-mouse as Cross consorts with his Russian counterparts--fellow aging dinosaurs in a young man's game. Cross's links with the Russians go back to the days of the Spanish Civil War and the time when Cross was given the ironic label of "premature anti-Fascist" by the House Unamerican Activities Committee. The incredibly convoluted plot is rife with double-crosses and reverse double-crosses, in an environment in which nothing is quite as it seems and no one is to be trusted. Director Michael Winner infuses enough energy and excitement into the film's many action segments to make Scorpio worthy of comparison to John Frankenheimer's best political thrillers. Winner also throws in several curveballs, such as the zither music during a meeting in a Vienna café (shades of The Third Man) and the preposterous device of disguising Lancaster as an African American priest. Though not quite a classic, Scorpio is still an underrated espionage thriller that was well attuned to the political cynicism of the time. Best line: "I want Cross, and I want him burned!" --Jerry Renshaw
Description

Both are experts in their fieldbrave, intelligent, and lethal. And when they're thrust together by personal ambitions and political forces beyond their control, each man finds himself fighting for his life amidst the brutal realities of the Cold War.

SOLID THRILLER OF THE 70's.......2004-07-25
Ten years after their encounter in Luchino Visconti's THE LEOPARD, Burt Lancaster and Alain Delon starred together in Michael Winner's SCORPIO, a solid spy thriller released in 1973. And the alchemy between the fine French actor and the imposing American star worked one more time.
SCORPIO is a good example of this peculiar period that produced such masterpieces as Pollack's THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR or Pakula's THE PARALLAX VIEW and KLUTE, all paranoiac movies featuring government subgroups which are able to kill innocent people with an harrowing impunity.
But Michael Winner isn't an author of the same caliber of Sydney Pollack, John Huston or Alan J. Pakula, hence SCORPIO is nothing more than a good spy thriller which doesn't offer additional food to the mind of the curious movie lover.
A DVD zone stars of the past.
a "must see" for Delon fans.......2002-08-21
Though the plot is somewhat muddled, locations change at a dizzying speed between Washington, Vienna, and Paris, has some improbable situations, and occasionally stilted dialogue, it's highly entertaining, and has an excellent cast, especially Alain Delon.
He's fabulous as "code name: Scorpio", conveying so much meaning with the subtlest of gestures. He's also superb in the action scenes, so lithe and fast, and seems to be doing all his own stunt work...and he certainly must be one of the most spectacularly gorgeous actors to have ever graced the screen.
To top it off, Scorpio has a sensitive side: He likes flowers, and most of all, cats...enough to make a woman's heart flutter !
Lancaster is very good as Cross, the spy who wants to get "out of the game", Paul Scofield is great as always as his Russian cohort, and Joanne Linville lovely as Cross' wife.
The cinematography (Robert Paytner) is exceptional, and Jerry Fielding's marvelous score is atmospheric and at times almost symphonic.
You may have to see it several times to make any sense of the plot, but this is a very watchable film, has a lot going for it in many ways, and it has to be Delon's finest English speaking performance, which is a good enough reason to make this one a keeper.
Solid 70s Espionage/Crime Movie.......2002-02-15
Not in the same league as The Day of the Jackal, The Manchurian Candidate or French Connection. It was still an enjoyable movie. Lots of great "on location" scenes, good action, excellent suspense with lots of double-crosses.
Burt Lancaster's friendship with his cold war nemesis in Vienna was a neat part of the story - two cold warriors who became trusted friends after years of playing cat and mouse together.
What was this film about?.......2000-05-30
I saw this film twice, and I STILL don't know what it was about. Plot is so convoluted, with so many minor characters and twists and turns. I guess some people think this is "clever cat-and-mouse," but after two viewings over the course of several years, I still had no clear idea who the characters were, or why they did what they did.
There's something about me and Burt Lancaster films. I found his MIDNIGHT MAN equally confusing, and his ATLANTIC CITY tedious and pointless.
I can't think of a single Burt Lancaster film that I even liked.
A Rare Masterpiece For The Spy Genre........2000-02-26
Burt Lancaster plays an aging CIA agent who's finally had enough of the spy life and wants to quit the business so he can spend more time with his family. But his trecherous Bosses don't want him to quit so they assign Alain Delon A.K.A SCORPIO to eliimate him. Fantastic script Delon's performance in the film is one of his best even if his english is sometimes off a bit. the highlight of the film is the chase sequence between Lancaster & Delon throughout the Streets and Alleyways Of Venice. It's a captivating spy film done with the right amount of action and suspense. Most Of Today's spy films don't even come to this masterpiece. And even if they could they would still fail. This film was a true gem for it's time and cannot and will not ever be replaced or duplicated.

not worth the money.......2007-07-16
This movie was everything that being a young teen in the 80's revolves around, waiting for that one 5 second shower scene to play. I think I would rather watch the original punisher movie and punish myself before I wasted money on this.
Strange... but kinda funny!.......2004-12-07
This is one those 80's films that video stores would put next to popular titles like "Meatballs", "Porky's", and "Screwballs" hoping that they would attract the same customers and i guess they did, because i fell for it.
Now i really don't remember the film that well, but i bought it recently (still waiting for it!) so i guess i'll just tell you what i do remember. It's takes place in a high school (duh!) and there's this student who dies (don't remember how but it's a stupid death) then comes back and realizes that nobody sees him. Awesome! Look for him in the shower of the girls locker room (like the Dvd cover), lifting up their skirts in the hallways, and getting back at other students who tormented him when he was alive.
Now i know there was a point to this film, but back in the 80's as a young kid..i really didn't care, i guess i just wanted to laugh and see a little T & A (didn't we all?) and i guess it had both so i enjoyed it.
Now being a bit older, i'm curious to see how this movie aged so i guess we'll have to wait till i get the movie in the mail.
Wait....I JUST GOT IT!!
If you like to waste time and money.......2004-08-05
This is one of..no wait, the worste 80's b movie I've ever seen, and I've seen alot. From the cover of the movie you may get some crazy ideas, but don't let the cover fool you. There is one good lockerroom seen, but it only last for a couple of seconds, and the other 89 minutes or so of the movie has a bad plot, screen writing and acting.

NOBODY HAS REVIEWED THIS? THIS HAS TO BE A MISTAKE........2006-04-16
Now this is a 5 star movie it's just the final fight scene didn't explode and it drags at times.
Now if you people have seen 36th chamber(master killer), return to the 36th, shaolin mantis, ... Then you know who Lau kar leung is. He leps do the action in this and also has a starring role. He ALWAYS has performed well on screen, I just don't believe he had enough confindence to do more roles. But when he gets to fighting, he may be old, but NOBODY can compete with him. And when you see this Scorpion guy's taekwondo kicks, you will want to find every movie he is in. I don't want to give anthing away because the story is very fun to experience on your own, but they have some great muscleman scenes in this. His fight scene wasn't great but still VERY enjoyable and he is definitely the biggest chinese actor next to bolo. It puts Arnold to shame. The star of this movie is Chin Kar Lok and he is very good and very good. I would recommend this to any movie fan.
Now the dvd I believe is the uncut version but it doesn't say it on the box. The picture seems to come from the original film print because it is very good. And they offer us a chinese AND english voicetracks. I have to say that I was overjoyed with everything about this dvd.

Customer Reviews:
I can't belive I sat through this... .......2007-06-19
My mom rented this at the library because I have a friend who is "into" horses. Afterward, we turned it off and my dad went "There was a reason that was at the library." Ugh! The acting was horrible the "dangerous villian" wasn't that deadly- and the rapids were a little trickle.Ohh. Intense.
My brother watched it again because it was so bad. Save your money- don't buy it.
Soooo slow.......2007-02-04
This was a cheaply made movie, with a very slow course. I paid very little for a used copy, and still think I paid too much. Don't have the heart to re-sell it to someone else! It's actually entitled "The Lost Stallion's" ~ as there are three "Stallions" involved. I would have given it NO stars if it were possible!
