Funny, Whitty, Action movie for all the family.......2007-08-16

Who is the best, the dog or Chuck Norris. Well worth watching for a laugh. Maybe Mr Norris should do more comedy films!!!!

This is the definitive movie on the subject of police dogs.......2005-06-06

Chuck Norris does it again people. The man can do no wrong. He takes such a stupid subject as a police dog movie, eats it and then craps out a police dog diamond. There's just too much to say about this movie. The characters are amazing, the script is beyond fantastic, the story has an awesome pace and is truly believable and the special effects and action sequences will blow your mind. Of course, there's also the Chuckster, ah Chuck with your wonderful beard and fantastic haircuit, you dazzle again. Chuck delivers his lines like a pro and his stunts are some of the best I've ever seen. There is almost nothing better in this world than putting on some Yanni and turning on a Chuck Norris movie like Top Dog and getting lost in the amazing world that Chuck Norris shapes for us. This is a must buy for any fan of fine film, it's definitely in the top 3 greatest movies of all time list.

Chucky Baby Does It Again!!!.......2004-06-01

I have been a longtime admirer of chucky baby norris. He is definitely one of the best actor/stuntmen to kick his way on to the big screen. Acting skills could be compared to marlon brando,humphrey bogart,and a dash of richard simmons.You know he's been sweatin' to the oldies baby,you know what im talkin bout'.In my opinion and I quote "He's the greatest thing since penny loafers.A must buy for anyone who likes sliced pork piled high on two slices of well manicured garlic bread.

Why Not An Updated Sequel?.......2004-05-29

My review will likely be one of the shortest ones ever. I really liked the movie. I just wished a sequel could have been made with all the original characters returning. Maybe a few new ones, maybe retaining some of the positions of some of the main characters,such as the police captain who wanted to run for mayor. Maybe Mr. Norris returning as a contender for the position of the captain? Now that would be funny! And maybe some of his co-stars having promotions too. A few new people with a new plot, but saving the part of that amazing dog's penchant for people's scarves.Oh and bring back the lady who played Chuck Norris mother and the young man who played the part of the grandson maybe would be older and have a larger part.

For the handicapped??.......2006-08-29

While I thought the DVD was informative. It did not have captions, therefore anybody that is deaf or hard of hearing is unable to hear most of the DVD. I don't think a DVD that is geared towards handicapped people and does not have captions is pretty worthless. For the price of the DVD the publishers should have thought this one through. If you need captions, DO NOT BUY this DVD.

DWAA 1st Place Winner!.......2004-03-10

TEAMWORK won the DVD 1st place award (The Maxwell Award) from the Dog Writers of America Assoc. for 2002! I found myself laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. It's a must for anyone that loves dogs and needs to train a dog for assistance.

Train your own assist dog lovingly and made extremely simple should be the title of this DVD.

Get it - get it - get it. You will not be in the least bit sorry. Even train your dog from a wheelchair!!

Great Instructional Video.......2007-03-22

This video teaches you how to train a dog using an electronic collar. I would not recommend it to a novice, because an electronic collar is an advanced technique.

Great basic training video for electronic collar users.......2006-06-29

Top Dog touches on the proper way of using an electronic collar and stresses again and again that the collar is not used to teach the dog from the start but to reinforce what you have already taught the dog through shown and verbal commands.

I do not have a dog but bought the video because my retail store sells electronic collars and I want to know a little about them. I thought the video would require toothpicks to keep my eyes open- far from it !

All throughout the video is shown HOW to teach your dog techniques and also touches on his other videos if you want to go more in depth on other dog-trick skills. The video has advice on how to fix trouble spots. Top Dog shows a dog putting to use the techniques shown on the video- like the dog retrieving a downed duck way far away from the blind set up . The dog goes for the duck and is out in the middle of the water treading but doesn't find the duck. The dog looks back to the master and knows where to go based on the masters body movements that are taught in the video. This video was expensive but far worth it. very well put together on an 84 minute dvd

WTF is this? .......2005-06-06

I got this flick and started watching it but there was no Chuck Norris. It's NOT the awesome Chuck Norris flick that shares the same name so BEWARE. I'm sure you got confused and clicked on it because you wanted Chuck Norris but he's not here. This is just some terrible thing about nothing.

I would say this is the greatest Chuck Norris movie, no wait, the greatest movie of all-time except for one thing. And that is that all Chuck Norris movies are created equal and better then movies like the Godfather, Schlinder's List, Back Door Sluts 9, and Braveheart combined. Chuck Norris is a much better actor then Tom Hanks and Marlon Brando because he knows karate. Hell Chuck Norris invented Karate as well as Judo, Kung Fu, and Hamster style Jap Slapping. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie so you can call yourself a man. And if your a woman buy this movie and pray Chuck Norris comes to your house and gets you pregnant.

Not really worth it.......2004-10-25

When Reno the Dog's cop companion, Lou Swanson (Carmine Caridi), is killed by a 'white supremacist' group of terrorists, he gets teamed up with tough cop Jake Wilder (Chuck Norris) to bring the bad guys down.

As you may have noticed, my movie summary for "Top Dog" was done in one whole sentence. That's because the story itself is quite simple for all audiences. It's the classic formula: good guys vs. bad guys. There are no `in-betweens' or `switching' of the good and bad so it's easy to keep track of who-is-who.

Unfortunately, though the classic formula `good vs. bad' most often works well, "Top Dog" had more `bad moviemaking' going for it than any `good moviemaking' to make this movie worth watching. Of course, it IS entertaining, but how far will one go to be `just' entertained?

Chuck Norris, never really being known for his acting abilities, seems at times to be enjoying himself but on the whole, he just lets everything flow on its own. Not once does he try to make his character his own, unique one. But that could be because the director does not really give him a chance to really do anything.

Instead, the audience is made to suffer somewhat by having to endure a bigger version of `Benji' for the hero of the film. There were mixed reviews on Amazon as to whether they liked Reno or not but in my opinion, Reno just did not impress. While, no doubt about it, we are continually made to believe that Reno is very intelligent (and sometimes he IS), there are times where he's just annoying. The ending was too contrived and moments where Reno is supposed to be cute just doesn't come out well. To sum up, everything Reno does is nothing special. If you've seen other `dog' movies like "K-19" or "Turner and Hooch", there is nothing in "Top Dog" which you haven't seen before.

The music was also badly done, especially the scene where the terrorists are trying to take out Chuck Norris at his house. The whole scene is supposed to be exciting, but the music utterly throws all suspense out. And... the terrorists are wearing clown masks?!?!

Ultimately, I believe that the main thing that went wrong with "Top Dog" is that the filmmakers couldn't quite make up their minds whether to make this a movie for children or for adults. While rated PG-13, the movie seems to be aimed for a younger audiences with having Reno the Dog as a main character. But at the same time, having terrorists and some violence would have children turning away, especially the murder of Lou Swanson. Adults however will probably be repelled from the storyline and the fact of having Reno the Dog in the story.

So, in conclusion, "Top Dog" can hardly be considered a classic so I really won't put this on my `recommend to others' list. My advice, if you still want to watch the movie, probably better to rent than actually buy it. Trust me, it's not worth it. The only thing that might interest viewers is watching Chuck Norris `do his thing', or shall we say, using his fighting skills. But definitely not top-notch stuff compared to other kung fu movies.

Violent movie?.......2004-06-27

I find it hillarious that all those elitists are the same: they consider Chuck Norris' movies violent, yet they subjectively are keeping quiet about Tarantino's. Truth is that we watch the Chuck Norris movies because we like the man, the script is not really of importance but try telling that to those mentioned above, to them a good movie is something preferably European, black&white and not dubbed and if it has interpretative dancing in it, even better! So to them I am saying, "Get over yourselves", I rather watch a movie which you consider inferior anyday, simply because I will always support actors who will not sell their sense of ethics and morality.

brutal.......2003-06-17

Watching this movie will make you not only question your sanity, but the filmakers as well. This brutal movie comes from the same men that brought you, what will someday be considered the most utterly ridiculous televsion show ever broadcast, "Walker:Texas Ranger". I give the movie five stars for the same reason I'll buy every season of Walker when it's released on DVD:Absolute hilarity! This movie is so completely ridiculous, anyone with a sense of humor will be laughing from start to finish.

NOT JUST A JUNK WRESTLING MOVIE.......2005-10-07

This was actually a good movie. Not only was it a good movie over all, but the stories within the movie was good. I was expecting a wrestling movie--period. I got much more.I would actually give this movie a 3.5 stars if I could. This movie was about wrestling, ambition, love, friendship. I have seen this story a thousand times, but never with wrestling's violence as the backdrop. Any fan of pro wrestling and UFC fighting will love this movie. Aside from all the different stories, there is plenty of action for us wrestling fans. I do not understand the bad reviews. But the stories within the story will attract more than wrestling/UFC fans. Can't wait for the sequel.

Backyard Wrestling as a movie, might as well be jackass.......2003-04-23

It's nice that they decided to do a wrestling movie, and I admit I wanted to watch this because it just reeked with the cheese factor. Unfortunatly that was not the case here. Instead what we have is a fairly seriouse attempt at a sport movie.

Backyard DOgs is basically about two college students who are in to the backyard wrestling circuit. THey hire this blond chick who is in financal trouble because she once owned a porno sight that accidently featured a minor. So with her cameraman the four of them create this drama around the two wrestlers as tehy travel in the Backyard wrestling circuit in hopes of one day entering into the FWE, or japanese circuit. Along the way they end up in this violent rivalry (think chief villian) with a man called Voodoo who is this 300lb black man that seems to randomly show up at their matches. Along the way sexual tension rises as does tempers which leads to a match between the two main characters, however in the end they fullfill their dream and enter into the Japanese circuit.

This movie is terrible. THe whole idea of an organized backyard wrestling circuit that is similar to the territories of the pro leage in the early days is silly (although probably true) and the fact that this huge guy is basically interfering all the time is like a bad WCW storyline (and that is really bad).

Overall skip out on this title, there is so much more out there that is better. Instead of this watch one of these titles instead.

Backyard Wrestling RULZ.......2003-01-04

I just recently rented Backyard Dogs and at first thought I would hate it but as it first started I Found myself enjoying every minute of it. It had every thing that makes a bad movie good Action, Sex, And A helluva lot of Great Wrestling Action.In my honest opinion I would like that Today's Backyard Wrestling is far more superior than what the lame WWE could ever come up with. I Recommend this film to any true Backyard Wrestling Fan

Backyard Wrestling Doesn't Deserve This...........2002-10-13

While most people think of hardcore stupid kids smashing each other with weapons and cutting themselves open for no good reason (thanks so much 20/20 and Oprah for that), the truth is most backyard wrestling groups are well practiced kids that do wrestle hard and have taken at least some pro wrestling training via friends that have gone pro or the various different forms of instruction out there.

They wrestle hard, do good shows, and even if they're not budgeted like the WWE or even the regional groups, they do work hard to entertain.

Needless to say then, this is a slap in the backyard wrestling world's face, and an embarrassment to those of us who work hard at trying to legitimize the value of this genre.

It's one thing to face an attack from panic driven media outlets, it's another when Hollywood tries to make you look bad.

Backyard Dogs is just horrendous. Two friends work backyard wrestling groups across the nation to try to make money because they are struggling financially, yet they drive around in hot rod cars and have a website with video streaming. I'm curious why they just don't sell the car.

A so-called "FMW-America" promoter contacts them for their upcoming PPV. Which is funny in itself because FMW is run out of Japan and FMW PPVs don't even run on American Cable systems, let alone would they do a PPV show in America. Besides when you realize that this promoter makes them wrestle in his backyard with a ring in it as a tryout match, you have to realize how ridiculous that is.

Then the PPV itself looks like it's being held in a junkyard! There apparently is no other wrestlers on the show so FMW brings in a backyarder to wrestle the Dogs. Stupid.

Hayabusa makes an appearance to try to draw the Japanese Wrestling fan in, but that and the logo are the extent of the real FMW's involvement.

Let me set this straight right now: Backyarders do not work for promoters for money and try to get gigs all over the place. That would be called Indy Wrestling. Backyarders stick with who they know and trust usually. The promoter would never call the cops on the show to keep from making a payout because besides the fact that there are NO payouts, the shows are almost always held in the promoter's YARD.

Bree Turner is sexy and hot in the movie, and as you can see on imdb.com she has a future in Hollywood. Unfortunately for her, if she happens to really hit it big this footage will be laugh fodder for Leno years down the road.

Please don't buy this.

What a terrible waste of money.......2002-04-23

This is the worst DVD i have ever had the misfortune of viewing, I am embarassed to say i own it. i loved the best of backyard wrestling series, I love wrestling, I love wrestling related movies, but this is just plain bad. The storyline makes NO sence, the acting is terrible, this is actually a MOVIE, like a feature film, not anything to do with real backyard wrestling... and it's TERRIBLE. PLEASE do not buy it!!
