To bad you can only give 5 stars. This is an awesome Movie. Some of the scenes are excellent. Some sad parts and some good parts. Some shocking parts. I mean like some really wow parts. One guy is fighting ninjas under ground and gets stabbed from underneath. I mean like wow he steps on his own intestine! You have got to get this movie. If you don't have it GET IT! An amazing Movie. One of the best Shaw releases.

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Martial Art Movie.......2006-06-13

This is an awesome movie. The fight scences are some of the best aever made, the costumes are great, and the use of weapons are really good. The basis of the movie is that the school of good guys (who wear white) has a tournement against the bad school (wears back) for control of the martial arts world. But when the bad guys lose, their hired killer throws the master of the good school his ring (which is poisonous) and tells him when he sees another ring like that that it will be his friend/master challenging him. So the master has his school practice and set up a defense system around their school. A few months down the line, they get a challenge from the killer's friend (the ninja school) to go against their 5 elements. So not knowing what they are up against, the good master sends most of his best warriors to see what the 5 elements are. And that's when all the action starts. Each element uses a unique style of fighting that will leave you awed. This movie is a great tale of revenge and regret. I think you'll really like it.

3 out of 5 stars Worth it for the ninja battle in the swimming pool alone!!!.......2006-10-21

So Alexander Lo Rei plays an American cop with his normal on screen partner, Eugene Thomas. The Five Element Ninja has set him up and now he has to become the super ninja. Having tons of training before as a ninja and with the great Jack Long as his master, he is more than ready to take on all comers.

This movie was so freaking weird, but HIGHLY enjoyable. Name me the last time you you saw a guy breakout of the poice station in a great ninja flick. Alexander plows through a ton of cops and faces plenty of ninjas in this classic. Directed by the same guy who did 'Ninja Hunter', Wu Kuo Jen, we get all the areas of 80's exploitation. The ninja could not have been much better. Jack Long is sadly in his weakest role I have seen but it is still nice to see him none the less. One thing in this movie surprised me beyond belief. Doris Lung, a fighting beauty from 'Master of the Flying Guillotine' and 'Along Comes A Tiger' stars as Lo Rei's boyfriend. Her dad ends up becoming the main point of the plot but the plot is not what we are worried about, right? Doris Lung has a 5 minute sex scene that actually is a notch over soft core. I had always dreamed of seeing my favorite female stars like Li-Li-Li and Brigitte Lin in a scene like this but now I am not so sure. You will get all of Doris that you wanted and maybe a bit more but it really just seemed wrong to me. Also this is her last listed credit. It is very interesting that in Hong Kong cinema, an actress will NEVER expose herself except maybe a little but of the booty. Let's just say that if she worked again after a movie like this, she would have been the first. Alright, now the sex scene actually helps set the tone for the rest of the movie. Pretty grim and real(except the ninjas of course). William Yen is one of the 5 ninjas and gets in a bit of comedy at the end but other than that this movie is all about the desperation and the blood and guts of Lo Rei. And of course the major cheese plays a major factor.

The final fight is basically just a ton of super human flying kicks. Only thing is is that these guys are really doing it. Think of that super kick that Hwang put on Jackie's throat in 'Drunken Master'. Too bad Hwang isn't in this but Lo Rei does pull out possibly the greatest scissor kick ever to appear on screen. Way better than the one he does into the water in 'Shaolin Vs. Lama'. The finale still could have been better but is very fun just like the rest of this movie.

Picture quality is full screened of course and while the print isn't really scratched up at all, it is very faded. Another crappy picture for a good movie. Also the dubbing is really bad. Eugene Thomas has a horrible voice-over just like all of his movies.

5 out of 5 stars Want glorious 70's kung fu? You cannot go wrong here!.......2001-10-05

Director Chang Cheh made over a hundred films many of which are hailed, by those who know this stuff, as kung fu classics. Famed action director John Woo was quoted as naming him as a major influence and when you see this classic it's easy to see why; When the action starts, it's breathless, over the top and doesn't stop.

A SPOILER FREE SYNOPSIS: Some nasty ninja have killed our hero's martial arts teacher. With the aide of a new teacher and some new fighting buddies our hero takes on the "Five Element Ninjas" (Gold, Fire, Water, Wood & Land).

Bottom Line: It's exciting, it's violent and if you like kung fu it's impossible to only watch this movie once. For more Chang Cheh brilliance try 'The Kid with the Golden Arms' or '5 Deadly Venoms'.

4 out of 5 stars Not What I Expected.......2001-02-20

This movie was pretty good and had some pretty decent action scenes. I gave it a 4 because the movie was kind of brainless action movie, but it still had strong character. I reccomend it for anyone that just wants to leave their brain off and watch a movie for an andrenelin rush.

5 out of 5 stars Chang Cheh at his best.......2007-02-22

If you have seen 'Kid With the Golden Arm' and thought the action in that was amazing, you ain't seen nothin yet. Ricky Tien('Shanghai 13', 'War of the Shaolin Temple') is one of the most athletic kung fu stars ever and shows supreme weapon handling in this, and Lo Meng is so awesome he actually makes you believe that he can defend himself against a samurai sword using no weapon at all!

After character actor Shen Chan(not Chang Shan) decides to use a Japanese fighter in a contest between 2 schools, the Japanese fighter dies and the Five Element Ninja challenge the school themselves. You may have heard of Five Element Ninja before in Godfrey Ho movies, and even some pretty good flicks, but this is where it came from! So the master assigns some of his fighters to take on the different elements. They find out real quick that these ninja can fight really good and they all die. Nice to see Chan Wai-Man as the leader of the ninja. He was usually best in boxing types of movies since he was a real fighter in the ring, a great figher I should add, but he is superb in this movie even though there is no real hand to hand. What also may have helped him look the part is that he was(maybe still is) in fact a real gangster. Those tattoos all over his back and frontside are real! I also have to point out how sweet it is how in an American movie, there will be a really cool scene where the villain doublecrosses someone and then pulls out his gun and just shoots everyone himself(or herself of course). Well, Chan Wai-Man is a great villain and it is even cooler when a similar scene happens in this movie. Instead of guns, his men just throw ninja stars and kill everybody as gruesomely as possible with their various ninja techniques. You have to be a fan of the genre to get the full enjoyment out of this, but not necessarily. Any fan of the Lone Wolf and Cub movies and great Chang Cheh films will be very happy with this masterpiece of cinema. It is just splendid.

Now since this is a Chang Cheh film, there for sure will be some training. Don't expect it to be anything extreme like 'Invincible Shaolin', but it has some very fun training sequences. And of course after training, revenge.

I want to note that I have seen many heated discussions on the internet on what a TRUE Venoms film is. The consesus is that it has to have at least 3 Venoms and it HAS TO BE directed by Chang Cheh. I personally consider Ricky Tien a Venom(the 8th for me), not one of the "true" 5(even though there were originally 6 in '5 Deadly Venoms'), but he is still one of Chang Cheh's Venoms. Now to finish breaking this down, under the criteria I have stated, this is not considered a Venoms movie since there are only 2 Venoms in it. The real question is, does that matter? The answer is no doubt, a big fat NO! It is a comic book movie, and the finale gets even crazier than you could ever imagine! 'Shanghai 13' is one of the greatest kung fu movies ever in my opinion, and is very similar to this. Both have mindless plots, just the way I like it. Not a lot of story, but the director just lets his kung fu stars do their thing. The ending of the final fight in 'Shanghai 13 was a disappointment, but there is no disappointment in 'Chinese Super Ninjas', and I can guarantee you that. Maybe the greatest ending to a movie ever.

So maybe it is not considered a true Venoms film by a lot of people, but it is still a GREAT Chang Cheh flick and bloody as can be. By far one of the best Shaw Brothers movies ever(top 100), and yet another reason that it is so sad the Shaws closed up prematurely, even though they still had all of this outstanding talent on hand and could no doubt have made great movies for many more years. :(

I also have to point out that this movie has Ping Yu-tai, he is known for his big nose and is the guy that uses the slingshot in 'Crippled Avengers'(aka Mortal Combat), and is in almost every single Venoms movie ever made, and so are a couple other guys as well. So, you could say there are really 11 or 12 true Venoms. Anways, I must move on since I could talk Venoms all day(though I know some would not mind).

One final note on the movie-Lo Meng only has a few fights but he is absolutely out of this world! I don't think I have ever seen him look this good, and that is saying a heck of a lot. And if you think Lo Meng looks good, wait until you see the end of this!

4.5/5 from me. This is one of those where I am stuck in the middle between a 4 and 5, but it is just so much fun that I can't give it any less than the highest rating possible. It is my guess that Ricky Tien(Cheng Tien-chi ) had a hand in the action, but whoever did this movie put together some of the finest weapons choreography ever. The fighting is so tight and fluid, you just won't be able to look away from the screen. This is a MUST have in any kung fu movie collection.

Look for this to be remastered some time in the near future by Celestial! And that means you will finally be able to throw away that full screened version. Man I hope Celestial remasters this soon(I hope they still have it in good condition in their vault), so then it can be seen in all it's widescreened glory. Best of all, we will be able to fully view all of those great sets and smoke effects! I will be sure to post here how it looks.

5 out of 5 stars Old "Skool" kung fu!!.......2006-05-31

I've never really been big on kung fu with the many different weapons,,however, I really enjoyed this particular flick, due to my main man Lo Meng (Toad),,,I enjoy any flick that has him in it,,,he is the man for real. He was absolutly outstanding in this movie, which is why I gave it a 5 star!
Respectively,,if you're really into the kung that has weapons,,this one is a keeper...three words,,TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Off da hook.......2005-03-02

This movie is definately a classic, man they had the O.G. dude from 5 Venoms, Toad, in there whoopin some serious tail. Then you got homeboy with the long hair, who escapes, kills that girl what was her name?zenji or somethin...then he kills all the Ninjaz, he represented big time...man, 5 stars doesnt even say it all, what more can i say i luv it

5 out of 5 stars Action none stop........2004-04-15

This is one I had never seen before, but in my effort to collect all of the venom movies I purchased this one. And from the first scene on out, nothing but action. Unfortunatly this one doesn't have all of the original venoms, actually it only has the Toad. But this is one where they were able to pull it off. The action is incredible.

3 out of 5 stars Chinese Super Ninja 2.......2002-05-23

This movie is the Hong Kong version of an exploitation movie that mixes in some kung fu fights. When the ladies are wearing their red ninja costumes, the fights are serious, but when they are not, the viewer is treated to training sequences in modern bikinis, mud wrestling and oil wrestling scenes. The movie is set during the Japanese invasion of China, but the clothes, cars and hair styles are modern. The villians put a comic-book-superhero touch to the film. The head kung fu villian has a spider tatoo instead of hair, and the others wear colorful costumes and have gimmicks, like a spider web to trap their foes.

The dvd is full screen, but manages to avoid the "empty screen" effect of people talking but no one is on the screen. The fights are affected as some action takes place off screen. The print is fairly clear, but has scratches and blemishes that show up now and again. It is dubbed in English using the funny voices that indicate cheap dubbing.

If you are interested in cheap exploitation films, then this one is watchable. If you are looking for women showing off martial arts skills, you should look elsewhere.

2 out of 5 stars almost a good fantasy-fu.......2006-04-24

Now the blackbelt version must be the uncut one because it is over 90 minutes and would have been less than 60 if us americans would have chopped it up. The opening sequence is pretty cool but the rest of the movie is just a slapstick comedy. The god of chopsticks and the god of bowls want to see who is the best I guess, so they go and pick 2 kids to match up against eachother. I had trouble paying attention to this cause there is a couple of LONGG periods with no fu, but I don't think they ever had their duel against each other like the movie said it was going to do at the beginning, they just kind of team up and defeat the bad guys. And that is the reason the movie gets 2 the extra star. The acrobatics an dfights are very good. It is just that there is literallly like 10 minutes of fighting. And since that is SERIOUSLY all there is, they could have been a bit more spectacular.

The blackbelt version is certainly uncut and you can tell because of the imbedded subtitles. Also the picture quality is watchable.

I didn't watch the other movie casue I read the review on here.

4 out of 5 stars worth it for the Fight among the supers movie!.......2005-02-08

Ninja Fantasy is one of those one movie with another movie edited in it! Basically you're watching a Chinese cop movie or whatever with some white guys dress up as ninjas (that's obviously the edited part)! But why you should buy this is becuz of Fight Among the Supers! Fight.... is a great kung fu movie! it's about these two gods (god of chopsticks and god of bowls) who take on students and teach them kung fu so they them to fight each other to see whos a better kung fu master (on the part of the gods of course)! The fight scenes were great! It's some of the best crap you'll see in early 80's kung fu cinema!
The picture for the movie is crisp clean, in original language and the subtitles come out good! It's Chinese and Engish subs. The dvd plays how it should! no extras but $10 is worth it! Supers is great and Ninja is good laughs!

3 out of 5 stars Can you take a guess at which one of these movies actually have ninjas in it?.......2006-11-12

NINJA IN THE DEADLY TRAP-Ninja in the Deadly Trap is not a bad movie, it is just extremely boring. It seems to have a lot of waiting around until we get to the action. The 3 most acrobatic venoms play the good guys in this film which was certainly a change for Lu Feng. So the General played by Ti Lung has been attacked and he sends his son to find these 3 great fighters. Their master has a line straight out of 5 deady Venoms but this movie sticks more to the 'Chinese Super Ninja' style. In fact, it was made in the mid eighties around the same time as Super Ninjas was made. It really does feel like a cheap ripoff, not just of Super Ninjas, btu many other Venom films. I can still look beyond the incredibly boring and unoriginal story though and be happy with the great action. Phillip Kwok is just amazing with his choreography but even the action starts to feel cheap. You don't have those 30 movements in one shot like you used to for their Shawbrothers films, and we don't get those spectacular 10-15 minute fighting sequences. Still, seeing Lu Feng, Phillip Kwok, and Chiang Sheng go at it with Yusuaki Kuratu and other no names got me by for the night. Still, the biggest dissapointment was seeing Ti Lung in a non fighting role, I think that he got literally a single swipe with his sword. It's Ti Lung, did he break his leg or something before the shoot?

The commentary is ok but warning, they give away the entire plot of 'Chinese Super Ninjas'. They do give some good info on Sheng and Kwok, but don't even mention any of the Taiwanese films Sheng did like Ninja Death or Drunken Dragon or how he directed Ninja USA and Ninja Death... Picture is full screened but it is watchable. 3.5/5

NINJA VS. BRUCE LEE-Ok first off, THERE ARE NO FREAKING NINJAS!!!!!!!!! Not only no ninjas, but that shot of Bruce 'Le' with a machine gun doesn't show up in the movie either. Basically Bruce Le is called in to handle a case and it is basically him just getting in one fight after the other. It was Nice Cheung, even in a limited rle. James Nam is decent as the Karate master and Lo Lieh has a cameo and also my favorite fight of the movie. The final fight with Kong Do is hardly worth watching but a female karate cop helped to get me through this movie for the full 86 minutes. Overall it is clear that Bruce Le is a good action choreographer, he just sucks at actually performing the action. Recommended for people who want a fight filled movie that it barely a step above of the standard chop and block.

Picture quality is full screened but watchable. 1.5/5

Overall not a good 2 pack of movies, but not terrible either. Check out the 6 pack called Ninja 6 that Tai Seng put out recently. A lot more bang for your buck.
