Arguably the most talked-about television show of the 2006-2007 season, the Emmy-nominated fantasy Heroes gives viewers blends comic book-style adventure with plotting and characters as rich and layered as any graphic novel or drama series. Creator Tim Kring's premise is deceptively simple - ordinary individuals in locations around the globe discover that they have, for lack of a better term, super powers, and wrestle with this reality while facing challenges both global (the destruction of New York City, for one) and personal (indestructible cheerleader Hayden Panetierre has family issues - serious ones, as the true identity of her adoptive father reveals; Milo Ventimiglia's Peter Petrelli, who absorbs other powers, must overcome his own insecurities). Add to this mix a terrific villain - Zachary Quinto's Sylar, who hunts and kills people with extraordinary powers like our heroes - and viewers have a riveting series that exhibits an almost-perfect balance of cliffhanger thrills (the action and special effects are truly impressive for a network program) and genuine drama that sets the show apart from most speculative fiction (save, perhaps, the revived Battlestar Galactica, which it compares too favorably). The seven-disc set of Heroes: Season One offers a wealth of extras for fans, who may be familiar with some of them through the NBC.com website, especially the cast commentaries, which are featured on half of the episodes. Kring is featured on the 73-minute uncut pilot episode, which for some viewers, may be even better than the network version; the main difference is the degree of character development, including an entire storyline for D.L. Hawkins that isn't featured in the broadcast version. Also on deck are some 50 deleted scenes from the episodes, several by-the-books making-of featurettes, including coverage of the special effects and stunt work, and a profile of artist Tim Sale, whose illustrations are used for Isaac Mendez's prophetic artwork. Prospective buyers should note that while all of these supplemental features are included on the HD-DVD version of this set, the special Web-connectivity elements are not available here. -- Paul Gaita

Amazing.......2007-09-13
This series is definitely the best one that I've seen in years. In a world of nothing but junking television, it was such a pleasant surprise to buy this set and actually like it. It's like a DC version of X-men - troubled, dark, very human characters. No regrets on this one!
Heroes - The Most Amazing Series Debut of 2006-2007 Season.......2007-09-13
This box set was released simultaneously in a great amount of countries, including here in Brazil. Since "Lost" debut, I have never seen any other TV series that caused so much buzz in the local market as "Heroes" is causing right now. Success on paid TV (episodes are aired here with an average delay of four months after its original exhibition on US broadcast TV) and, apparently, success also on DVD, as stores are flooded with posters and full shelves with a lot of boxes waiting for its customers.
I own this box set and still have not finished watching it yet (just the first five episodes, maybe I'll be done with all discs within two weeks from today on), and from the few I've seen, I should say that this show is smartly conceived, well produced and an eye-catching attraction. Although I haven't watched the other episodes yet, I have the notion of how this ends by the first season finale with the destiny of each of the newly found "Heroes" already connected amongst themselves. Hiro is the most funny character of the show. He's fun even when he's serious...my favorite hero.
Expectations for the second season (premiere date is just around the corner) are very high and Tim Kring (the creator of the show) will have a tough task for the next weeks to keep ourselves tuned into the next episodes. Such elaborated plots are attractive while they can and I hope that it won't go the same way as "24" or just get "Lost" too soon. For the time being, "Heroes" is, in my honest opinion, the most pleasant surprise of the last 2006-2007 season. This is a box worth buying. Go ahead and enjoy it.
AWESOME SHOW!!!.......2007-09-13
I just have to say that this is one of the best new show on Television. The writers really let you know who these characters are. Put that together with great story lines, and superb special effects and you have a winner on your hands. If you didn't watch the show when it aired on TV, now is your chance to Catch up and get with the best new show of the year.
Awesome.......2007-09-12
When on TV, I started watching Heroes towards the end of the season, so I am eagerly waiting to watch this series from episode 1 and re-watch the episodes I have already seen. Worth watching again and again.
Heroes with a difference............2007-09-11
First I was not expecting much but this show did deliver on all fronts.
True power and great assembly of cast, well structured main plots and side plots. Awesome story telling, some great guest surprising actors (Christopher Eccleson etc)
However both in imagination and scale, combined with all out talent & even if you loath it. The intelligence & spirit of this show is beyond any other embodied most in Peters character yet present in leaps and bounds in all the others.
It makes you think, it gave some true iconic depth & appeal the imagery in the pilot alone shows how far reaching one little show can be. Worth every penny & cannot wait till season 2 finely gets all the way to Scotland.
Great viewing & hope when season 2 arrives that it is half as good as this by the way - Homecoming was an epic among some other great stand alone episodes.
More please!

In the third season of Grey's Anatomy, one medical intern will get married to a superior while another is left standing at the altar. Two interns will lose their parents. And one main character will try to commit suicide--or not fight very hard to save her own life. There will be multiple hook-ups, infidelity, and trust issues. In between the soap opera-style drama that attracts millions of viewers each week, interns Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) will also perform some medical miracles. At the end of season 2, Izzie was distraught over the death of her fiancé, Denny. Now she finds that her very rich boyfriend has left her millions of dollars. Instead of putting the money into the bank and allowing it to accrue interest until she decides what she wants to do with it--as sensible Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) suggests--Izzie mopes around the house in an irritating stupor. Actually, irritating is an apt description for several of the main characters. It takes a leap of faith to believe that sexy, spectacular, and rich orthopedic surgeon Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) would be even vaguely interested in wishy-washy George. Previously, he'd convinced himself that he was in love with Meredith. Now he's pining for his other roommate, Izzie, even though he's already got Callie. And rather than welcoming her into their fold, Izzie and Meredith (and to a lesser extent Cristina) give Callie the mean-girls treatment. They may have rebuffed him at one point, but they don't want Callie to have him, either. There is something very needy about this group of interns who have no one to turn to but each other when a crisis occurs.
Viewers get some insight into "dark and twisty" Meredith's upbringing, as she spends more time with her cold and demanding mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and her milquetoast father, who didn't fight very hard to have contact with her as a child after her mom kicked him out of their house. It's no wonder Meredith ended up emotionally damaged and unwilling to completely open up to Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) ... a.k.a. McDreamy. Though the show's title implies that Meredith is the most important character, it's not true. The ensemble cast, which also includes James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber (who had a long and complicated affair with Meredith's mother) and Kate Walsh as Derek's ex-wife Addison, is fantastic. And it's difficult to outshine Oh, who has some of this season's funniest and emotional moments as she navigates a relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who is far more romantic and traditional than she is. Though not as compelling as the show's debut season, this third year still packs a strong emotional punch. --Jae-Ha Kim

eh.......2007-09-12
i agree with what most people are saying. the writers just did not do a good job for the third season. there were so many ridiculous plot twists and storylines (ferry boat accident, meredith "dying", etc) that it made the show extremely hard to tolerate sometimes. i still watched every episode, and there were some great episodes, but i found that i was nowhere near as pleased as i was with the first two seasons. i mean, it's grey's so it was all still pretty good, and i really like the character dynamics and acting and everything, but this season really just the worst of the three. i completely blame the writing, though.
Grey's anatomy season 3 was absolutely amazing.......2007-09-12

PROGRAMMERS MESSING UP A GREAT THING.......2007-09-11
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF THE COUNTRY BUT THE PROGRAMMING IN MY AREA
IS DESTROYING T.V. GREYS ANATOMY IS MY FAVORITE SHOW ON T.V. THE ACTORS
COULD NOT BE ANY BETTER. THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT CHOICE TO PORTRAY
THE FANTASTIC CHARACTERS CREATED FOR THIS SHOW. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS SHOW IS NOT THE SHOW AT ALL. IT IS ALWAYS GETTING BUMPED OFF FOR SPORTS OR SOMETHING STUPID. THANKS TO DVD's I CAN WATCH AND FOLLOW THE STORY LINE WITHOUT GETTING RERUNS FROM LAST SEASON IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS SEASON. THE THIRD SEASON IN MY OPINION IS JUST AS FANTASTIC AS THE FIRST TWO SEASONS. I AM REALLY SORRY TO SEE ADDISONS CHARACTOR GO, BUT REALLY GLAD TO SEE SHE WILL BE ON, WHAT I THINK, LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER SMASH
SHOW, "PRIVATE PRACTICE". IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, LETS KEEP THE RATINGS UP SO WE DON'T LOSE IT TO YET A N O T H E R REALITY SHOW!!
LOVE Season 3.......2007-09-11
I totally agree, I didn't start watching Grey's until 1/2 way through the 3rd season and was amazed at how many times my jaw dropped, or I laughed out loud in shock. I watched the 1st and 2nd seasons everyday to get my fix, waiting for the 3rd to come out so I could see the 1st 1/2. I guess we all fall in/out of love w/ Grey's for different reasons. I loved the 3rd season 1st and love the 1st and 2nd as well.
LOVE GREY"S.......2007-09-11
I am astonished by all the grey's bashing....This is the best show on tv right now!!! I can't wait for season 4. I am going to the store first thing tomorrow to get season 3 so I can watch it again so its all fresh for the premiere next week.

I love this show!!.......2007-09-11
In my opinion The Office is one of the funniest shows that has ever been on television.. this season was the best so far but, every episode of all 3 seasons has made me laugh, which no other show has done, i cant wait for season 4 to start on the 27th!
the OFFICE is OFFICESOME!!.......2007-09-11
The Office is this awesome show about some cool, hip, good-looking people--Jim, Pam and Karen--who stick it to less attractive, socially awkward nerds. I LOVE watching this show because I know that Jim (who's superawesome and funny and goodloking like me) is going to mock everyone because HE'S COOLER!!! He even SLAPS DWIGHT IN THE FACE UNPROVOKED at one point and I'm like "oh hells yeah, aweseom!" Cause some people think I'm a jerk for belting on nerds but just look at THE OFFICE: Nerds deserve to be made to feel small. Not being cool IS A CRIME and jim halpert is like JUDGE DREDGE of a little state called PENNSYLVANIA--ever heard of it?
Besides nerds getting their comeuppance, the other great thing about the office is CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP!!! A billion years ago it was uncool to take corporate sponsorships. Take a hike, GRAMPS, time for THE OFFICE to get paid. Corporations like HP and Microsoft and Staples are giant rich SUCCESSFUL corporations. GUess what else is rich and successful? Me!!! So no suprise Microsoft and I both support the Office.
Plus, corporate sponsorship means MORE REALISM!!! In real life people don't say "Let's go to Office Supply Store X"--nope, they say Staples or whatever. Ok, in the real world people might talk crap about Staples or Hooters or CHili's and obviously you can't do that to the people giving your show millions of dollars. But so what? Once you get big enough and powerful enough, IT'S ALL BUT AGAINST THE LAW TO CRITICIZE THEM IN PUBLIC!!! I'd like to be that big and rich some day. Sure the office is unrealistic in some ways like, I dunno, an office of 20 middle-aged people and only one of them (Stanley) is married. Or neither Dwight nor Jim having ever been to a strip club.
But are family dynamics and sexual desire the integral components of reality? Hell no! THE UNCRITICAL USE OF BRAND NAMES is what makes reality so sprite-drinking-inducingly REAL!! Guess what? This second of reality is brought to by Coca-Cola, BENEVOLENT CORPORATE OVERLORD!!
So if you like beating up nerds, REAL REALISM and big corporations, the office is for you and me!
Television Perfection!!.......2007-09-10
As I each watched each episode last season, I was in constant awe that a television series could maintain this amazing level of excellence. My wife and son knew to avoid me when I was watching "The Office" since I would laugh hysterically and actually feel my stomach hurt. Each episode added another piece to the puzzle and really did a number on fleshing out secondary characters (Jan, Kelly, Angela, etc.). Even more amazing is the fact that the actors who play Ryan and Kelly wrote and directed some of this season. When the season ended, I was so excited to get all episodes in one place, I began counting down the days to September. With the Ryan angle set up during the last 10 seconds of the season, I am waiting anxiously for Season 4. We should all rejoice that a show of this high quality is on right now for us to enjoy!!!!! Hallelujah!
One of the Best-Ever!.......2007-09-10
This is an excellent DVD set for a number of reasons.
First, is just the quality of the show. I think this show will go down in TV history as one of the best. I watched them as aired on the network and the episodes were just as funny and entertaining the second time around. Also, there were quite a few things that I missed the first time around.
The extras are great, especially the deleted scenes. Most episodes are around 20 minutes and each show has 5-10 minutes of deleted scenes, all new and as funny as what was aired.
This is what a DVD set of a TV show should be and I give my highest recommendation-worth every penny!
The Office - The Most Compelling Show Not Yet Cancelled.......2007-09-10
Not too long ago, Arrested Development had me laughing hysterically, dropping my jaw in shock, and then laughing even more hysterically every episode. Until, of course, it got canned.
I went through all 5 stages of grief. Denial: another network will pick it up! Anger: why this show? WHY? It is so funny! Bargaining: Cancel my other favorite shows, I don't care, just don't take this one! Depression: A show this funny will never come again! NEVER! *Cries*
It wasn't until I saw The Office, specifically season 3, that I finally reached stage 5 with acceptance. This show is not only as hilarious and shocking as Arrested Development, it actually has a sweet sprinkle of heart that Arrested Development never really had.
The Pam/Jim struggle has always been compelling, and season 2 left off with a frustrating cliff hanger. But this time, the romance is switched from Jim chasing Pam to Pam chasing Jim. It's truly compelling TV, watching Pam try to win Jim back, while trying to break into the art scene, all while keeping the whole Office family together.
While Michael and Dwight may provide the most laughs, Pam is who made me watch all of season 3 in just one weekend. I just had to see what she was going to do; whether she would give up and be back with Roy again, or if she would have the courage to stand up and fight for what she really wants.
Season 1 was good, Season 2, despite the frustrating cliff hanger, was great. Season 3? Fantastic. And this particular cliff hanger has to be the sweetest in television history. You'll see what I mean.
There's also several other surprises in store. I won't ruin them for you. Must watch TV, my highest recommendations!

EXCELLENT.......2007-09-14
Hugh Laurie, once again, takes what would have easily been another overly detailed medical drama and gives his comedic flare and dramatic edge. How does a British speaking actor learn to speak all the medical terminology, as well as the rest of the dialogue for an entire episode and sound so American? Almost as mysterious as one of Dr. House's cases. The entire cast is superb and work well with Laurie. The writers keep the show fun and interesting right through season three. I am on pins and needles waiting for season 4.

I'm a total House fan, I have the past two seasons, and I pre-ordered this one about a week before it got out.
Shipping was fast. Estimated delivery was September 14, but it got here way earlier.
Go House!
FLAWED PLAYBACK.......2007-09-11
First disk, first episode, half way thru the picture repeatedly froze and pixels of pictures fell apart. The only way around it was to fast forward and miss some of the pictures and dialogue. Would not order again.

Too Little Too Late.......2007-09-12
Ok, someone tell my why it took a year to get this thing on dvd. The third season is over and those of us (including me) who missed the first part of the 2nd season were looking forward to getting this dvd set to patch together the transition from the Big Break to Season 3.
It disappoints. The sophomore slump is at work bigtime. Season 3 had something going for it. Season 2 is filled with lame happenstance, chewing up the time until the writers could figure out where they wanted to take the Brothers Grimm. Michael's in-prison confidence, successful risk-taking and strategic thinking is not working so well on the outside. Someone (Mahone) finally figures out that the wall-to-wall tatoo on Mike might have some meaning and just happens to find the tatoo parlor which did the handiwork, which just happened to take photos of all the tatoos (why would Mike let them do that?) So there's the story line for the beginning of this season, Mahone following along with the tattoos and trying to decipher their meaning. I watched the first 2 episodes of season 2, skipped ahead to episodes 5 and 6, and had to stop. This is so lame. And late. Late and lame. If it weren't so late, like months after season 3 concluded, it would have been a useful bridge in the story line.
Someone convince me that I'm wrong. I would like to be wrong. Seasons 1 and 3 were so good.
An amazing ride! .......2007-09-11
Being a new fan, I just discovered this show about 2 months ago. I watched season 1 in a week and could not wait for season 2 to be released. I tried to ration the episodes, but it had me repeatedly saying "just one more before I sleep!" LOVED IT! Every bit as good as the 1st season - fun, exciting, and extremely addicting... The story sucks you in!
As good as the best seasons of '24'........2007-09-10
It probably isn't surprising that the Fox Broadcast Network has yet again come up with a great serial action drama that beats the pants off most of everything else on TV now.
'Prison Break' has probably got the best writing staff the industry has, next to '24' and a few other notable shows. Each episode has a cliff-hanger ending, and every commercial break is a cliff-hanger in of itself. So it just keeps you wanting to come back for more.
Season 2 moves the production crew from Chicagoland to Dallas, TX. The crew was able to use the greater Dallas area to double as every setting that they needed. Although IMO, it didn't pass for Utah very well. But for the most part, it did very well. They even converted a urban area of Dallas to look like Panama City.
I didn't get into this show until I saw the first season on DVD, but it immediately hooked me and I watched most of the second season on air, until the feds pulled the plug on DISH Network's distant network feeds last December (I used to catch the West Coast feed). So I missed the last 9 episodes of Season 2. But anyway, I loved how they wrapped up the conspiracy from Season 1. So that they can more or less start over with a new story in Season 3.
I will admit though, that like Michael Scofield in the series, I too have fallen in love with Sara Tancredi. I just feel her pain in the story lines.
It only gets better!.......2007-09-09
Prison Break 2, only gets better. The escaped convicts move around all over the country, and are now being chased by an equal to Micheal. F.B.I. Agent Mahone. He quickly figures out that the tattoo is a map and plan, and stays with or at times ahead of Linc and Micheal. The shows move fast and wanting more.
More ambitious and thankfully, just as fun.......2007-09-08
Unlike most seasons which tend to have the same basic formula through each season, Prison Break broke from its mold and expanded upon its first season, making a year that seemed as radically different as any other shows that have a second year. But this doesn't mean that change brings bad things as the show manages to keep its whiplash pace up. Sure a lot of it doesn't make sense and many of it strains credibility but dang if it isn't exciting regardless.
Getting out seemed like the easy part; staying out is something different. The "Fox River Eight": Michael, Lincoln, T-Bag, Sucre, C-Note, Haywire, Tweener, and Abruzzi have managed to evade authorities and many are going their separate ways. Well they would if would-be escapee Charles Westmoreland tells them of a secret: 5 million dollars buried somewhere in Utah. But getting there first is the least of their worries as FBI agent Alexander Mahone is hot on the trail and he's just as smart as Michael is. Then there's the whole matter of the people who wanted Lincoln dead out there and on the hunt as well.
Whereas the first season had the main characters entirely within one location, this season has them all over the country dealing with trying to reconnect with loved ones while evading the authorities. The show manages to juggle all of its main and supporting characters without having some getting sidelined or missing for awhile. Not to mention it introduces Mahone, who's probably one of the most fascinating and compelling characters introduced last year. He can be outright vicious and lack of compassion yet turn it around and make you feel sorry for him and empathize. Also characters get a bit more time to shine here whereas in the first season they didn't really get much depth.
A show like Prison Break is built around the idea that it's like one gigantic 20 (or so) hour movie so you can't really jump in midway and except to know where you are. With each individual episode though it tends to have enough info and cliffhangers to keep you going but at times you feel yourself going "oh come on, that fast?". Like Mahone's uncanny ability to decipher Michael's clues and tattoos at near superhuman speed. He probably figured it out in faster time it took to get it tattooed on the body. But then again this is like a more action-oriented soap opera where dead people aren't dead and revelations are introduced at plot relevant times and somehow people from all over America won't recognize either of the convicts except for the ones necessary for the story.
Like a good book, Prison Break doesn't rest on its formula and let itself continue the same type of idea each season. May feel different than the previous season but it's still fun anyway.

Planet Earth: As You've Never Seen It Before

As of its release in early 2007, Planet Earth is quite simply the greatest nature/wildlife series ever produced. Following the similarly monumental achievement of The Blue Planet: Seas of Life, this astonishing 11-part BBC series is brilliantly narrated by Sir David Attenborough and sensibly organized so that each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, seasonal forests, etc.) until the entire planet has been magnificently represented by the most astonishing sights and sounds you'll ever experience from the comforts of home. The premiere episode, "From Pole to Pole," serves as a primer for things to come, placing the entire series in proper context and giving a general overview of what to expect from each individual episode. Without being overtly political, the series maintains a consistent and subtle emphasis on the urgent need for ongoing conservation, best illustrated by the plight of polar bears whose very behavior is changing (to accommodate life-threatening changes in their fast-melting habitat) in the wake of global warming--a phenomenon that this series appropriately presents as scientific fact. With this harsh reality as subtext, the series proceeds to accentuate the positive, delivering a seemingly endless variety of natural wonders, from the spectacular mating displays of New Guinea's various birds of paradise to a rare encounter with Siberia's nearly-extinct Amur Leopards, of which only 30 remain in the wild.
That's just a hint of the marvels on display. Accompanied by majestic orchestral scores by George Fenton, every episode is packed with images so beautiful or so forcefully impressive (and so perfectly photographed by the BBC's tenacious high-definition camera crews) that you'll be rendered speechless by the splendor of it all. You'll see a seal struggling to out-maneuver a Great White Shark; swimming macaques in the Ganges delta; massive flocks of snow geese numbering in the hundreds of thousands; an awesome night-vision sequence of lions attacking an elephant; the Colugo (or "flying lemur"--not really a lemur!) of the Philippines; a hunting alliance of fish and snakes on Indonesia's magnificent coral reef; the bioluminescent "vampire squid" of the deep oceans... these are just a few of countless highlights, masterfully filmed from every conceivable angle, with frequent use of super-slow-motion and amazing motion-controlled time-lapse cinematography, and narrated by Attenborough with his trademark combination of observational wit and informative authority. The result is a hugely entertaining series that doesn't flinch from the predatory realities of nature (death is a constant presence, without being off-putting), and each episode ends with 10-minute "Planet Earth Diaries" (exclusive to this DVD set) that cover a specific aspect of production, like "Diving with Pirahnas" or "Into the Abyss" (the latter showing the rigors of filming the planet's most spectacular caves, including the last filming ever officially permitted in the "Chandelier Ballroom," a crystal-encrusted cavern found over a mile deep in New Mexico's treacherous Lechuguilla, the deepest cave in the continental United States.)
With so many of Earth's natural wonders on display, it's only fitting that the final DVD in this five-disc set is devoted to Planet Earth: The Future, a separate three-part series in which a global array of experts is assembled to discuss issues of conservation, protection of delicate ecosystems, and the socio-economic benefits of understanding nature as a commodity that returns trillions of dollars in value at no cost to Earth's human population. At a time when the multiple threats of global warming should be obvious to all, let's give Sir David the last word, from the closing of Planet Earth's final episode: "We can now destroy or we can cherish--the choice is ours." --Jeff Shannon

My son (4 1/2 yr) loved the DVD. He watched it a lot. Worth the money and an excellent collection to be added to the library.
Very Fun.......2007-09-13

Amazing and revealing. .......2007-09-12

Unbelievable........2007-09-11
This is an amazing documentary series. The photography is absolutely beautiful. Very educational.
amazing tv?!this is rare........2007-09-09
with all the shows on tv which are basically the same these days(i.e. house md and other medical shows, the dozen csi's,and same-old reality tv)it's nice to have a show like this that was made from a standpoint other than making money off people who are blind to a well-done show.it would be amazing if shows such as these took over the commercialised ones so that people could be exposed to beauty instead of the continuous reminders of how hectic life is.

Amazon.com
Not really a movie or documentary, The Secret is more of a video seminar, a presentation featuring a series of authors, philosophers, doctors, quantum physicists, entrepreneurs, and spiritual practitioners expounding on the powers of The Secret (probably the most well-known of the presenters is Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul and The Success Principles). What is The Secret, exactly? "That principle can be summed up in three simple words: thoughts become things," proclaims writer Mike Dooley, author of Notes from the Universe. Put it another way, it's The Power of Positive Thinking and how it can be applied to attracting more money, better health, and relationships; in short, happiness. (There is a rundown of topics on the DVD Chapters menu).
Most of the material here is given in a straightforward manner, with the presenters simply talking into the camera to address the audience directly, which is good because it avoids the trap of pretense. On the other hand, the quick edits between presenters (would it hurt to let them say more than one sentence at a time?) don't help because it reduces many of their points to palatable sound bites and aphorisms. To many viewers, this may make the program come across as a series of nice ideas not rooted in reality. Plus it's somewhat spurious to claim that The Secret was well understood and practiced by specific individuals like Plato or Shakespeare (it's well known that some of the historical figures noted didn't exactly live happy or even prosperous lives, despite their achievements). But still, the primary message is one of positivity and hope for everyone. So what to make of it? In the end, programs like this generally find an audience that is open to the message, and many will probably find it to be a source of inspiration. Others will approach it with a good deal of skepticism or dismiss it as another way of marketing happiness the masses. It simply won't resonate with everyone, but if it resonates with you, you're likely to enjoy it and get a lot out of it. Those looking for more on The Secret might want to check out the companion book by Rhonda Byrne. --Daniel Vancini

The Secret: Movie synopsis and opinion.......2007-09-14
The Secret (Extended Edition)
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
Basically it breaks down like this "Like attracts Like". You attract to you what you put out type thing. This movie tries to explain how to use this on a conscious level for achieving what you want in your life instead of attracting what you don't. I love this movie, I love the idea behind this movie. I find it very empowering.
Yes, the movie does emphasize a bit on wealth and gain, however it also speaks of using it (the secret) in Health and Relationships, how it can apply to anything and anyone. I love that idea, maybe the people just need a little faith in something other than themselves. I think of this movie as a gift for the masses, just think it we could all get ourselves together long enough to do something on a deeper level. Also check out "The Power of the Subconscious Mind by John Murphy", it's been around since the 60's. Good luck and keep an open mind.
It is not my secret........2007-09-14
I do not hate this movie as some do. It simply does not direct me to the things I seek. It is a movie about being successful. As such, it succeeds.
Yet, having said that, I nevertheless think it is a little misleading. Is there really a secret to getting things? Perhaps there is. But, whatever the secret is, it is much more complicated than setting intentions. And for those who live in poverty, positive thinking is often a foreign language.
If you are born into a rich family, one which values financial success, and you are taught to succeed; then you will probably be successful. Being positive will come easily to you. If on the other hand, you are born into a poor family, one which struggles to survive, and you are taught to struggle; then you will probably not be successful. Being negative will come easily for you. This is not a secret. It is harsh, but true I think.
Of course, there are exceptions. There are those who succeed despite all obstacles of birth and circumstance. And it is to those many individuals desiring to be exceptions that movies such as "The Secret" aim.
And there's nothing wrong with being successful. There was a comedian once who said, more or less, "I've been rich, and I've been poor, and believe you me rich is better." I think it was Joe E. Brown who said that, and I agree with him. While I have never been rich, I have been poor. And I did not like it. Making ends meet took all my time. I was too tired to meditate, too tired to read nourishing books, and too tired to spend time with those I loved. But I was not too tired to worry.
Nor is there anything wrong with being positive, or setting intentions, or manifesting what you think you want. This is much better than being negative, not setting intentions, and manifesting what you think you do not want. The former typically results in a better life.
But beyond having enough money to live well by my own standards, which does not include a fancy car or a huge house, I do not aspire to greater riches. My mind, or at least my mind as I know it, simply cannot take me to the place I seek. I seek a place of inner tranquility. I cannot manifest this place through positive thinking. Nor can I manifest it through setting intentions.
But for those who live one step above poverty as they send children to college, pay mortgages, and work hard; this may be a good movie for them. Life can be hard, and people need hope. And if movies such as this can give hope, then that is a good thing. I truly hope this movie inspires and uplifts all who see it. But I also hope that all who see it understand that there is more than this to life.
You know, though, come to think of it, a chauffeur would be nice, and maybe a maid or two, and a cook. Then I would need a mansion. And I suppose I would need a sailing yacht to get away from all my servants. And I'd need a captain because I don't know how to sail. I suppose I would have to have a few pretty girls in bikinis to lounge on the deck, like in the movies. But I'm married. So maybe I should get a dog instead. This being rich business is harder than it looks!
Thank you, John C. Conley, author of "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening."
Defending The Secret.......2007-09-14
To appreciate The Secret, you have to have an open mind to watch it. If you are "the glass is half empty" kind of person, you will only point out the flaws in this movie, because that is what you do in life. Sure you can search for the meanings and blessings, but you don't think you can change the situation. There IS evidence of mind-over-matter, but if you aren't open to the concept, you will think it's a hoax. The movie doesn't say you don't have to work for something, they say you DO have to take action, you can't just visualize it. It makes sense that if you want out of debt, you should focus on words such as financial freedom versus debt-free. The latter still focuses on debt. I watched the movie two weekends ago and I have been practicing positive images and the feelings associated with having financial freedom, etc. (even driving the car). Guess what - I have used my credit card very little and paid off $7,000 of debt last week and have another $6,000 planned to pay off next week. Oh, I also got a check in the mail today and have received 3 unexpected business referrals in the past 10 days. After struggling with my credit card debt since college (15 years),this movie has helped me change my thinking and I believe I will be out of that debt (and maybe have my car paid off)by the end of the year. Many people don't want to take responsibility for their situation, so instead blame others. That way, you don't have to try and change it because "it's out of your control".
By the way, sickness CAN be healed, but like the movie says, you can't change others, only yourself.
What secret?.......2007-09-12
It amazes me that this movie has so many fans. I only managed to watch about 20 minutes of "The Secret" before a nauseated stomach forced me to turn it off. The first 20 minutes mostly consists of various people bragging about how they made multi-million dollar houses and cars "manifest" in their lives. The shallow, materialistic focus of the movie and how it exploits some small nuggets of spiritual wisdom to make money. Aside from bragging rich people it also has many scientists and spiritual authors talking about quantum physics and how the universe is hear to serve you. The movie even has a scene where a genie (representing the universe) appears to grant your every wish! I have however watched a fair amount of it later as many of my friends have tried it out while I was visiting. None of the later parts improved my impression. To make things worse, there is not even a "secret" revealed in the movie. The rich and powerful have long been bragging about how they create their reality, how the universe is hear to serve them, and how the poor and sick are only that way because of their laziness and negative thinking. There is nothing new in this movie, creating our own reality has long been a fairly common cultural belief at least here in the US, albeit expressed in different words, such as "creating your own luck".
Now, I have nothing against optimism, and I do believe you can influence your reality to some extent with your thoughts. "The Secret" however, strongly implies that you can manifest anything you want in your life with little effort simply by thinking about it the right way. First of all, if a nice car and house your primary life goals, you're probably going to have to work pretty hard to get them, unless you are very lucky, very talented, and/or exploit others to get what you want. Now if you really enjoy your work, it may not even feel like work, which is fine and I believe "The Secret" did at least mention that some work might be required briefly in one scene. The movie reminds me of an infomercial or one of the motivational videos you get when you join one of those network marketing companies that encourage you to sell overpriced products to your friends and family, and get them to do the same. "The Secret" appeals to people's natural laziness and greed, I certainly want everything to be easy at times, and I've done (and still do) more than my fair share of whining and negative thinking, but I have come to learn there is value in good old fashioned hard work in making sacrifices to help others. You can certainly change your perceptions, and learn to be grateful for what you have, learn to view life's unexpected unpleasantries as challenges, lessons or even opportunities, It takes a fair amount of consistent effort and time just to change unhealthy thinking patterns, much less achieve your dreams. Also even if you do everything right, think positive, and are very hard working, bright and talented you very well may fail, and you may suffer and die young. You cannot control everything that happens in your life. This is not always a bad thing as most of us don't even know what is best for us. Besides it's possible to be happy even if you're homeless and crippled, happiness is largely a matter of perception.
Think about it, how many times have you expected(and I mean really believed) something unpleasant to happen to you, such as lose your spouse, die or lose your home only to have things turn out ok? If what I thought about really happened to me I would be dead, homeless or vaporized in a nuclear blast long ago! :-) Things often turn out better, or (sometimes) worse than I expect.
Not to mention all of the rape, murder, war and famine victims in the world. Do starving children in Africa all create their own reality? Is "The Universal Genie" granting their wishes, answering their thoughts? I guess I can't know, but I highly doubt it.
"The Secret" might be helpful if you want a little motivational push to work on your dreams, but there are much better books and movies which are a bit more realistic. I'd recommend "The Peaceful Warrior" by "Dan Millman", "What The Bleep", or the "Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff. They are more spiritual, encourage you to care about others rather than just getting rich, and teach you how to accept and have a sense of humor about what you can't control. And if you think a $4 million house will make you happy then by all means go for it, but remember there is a finite amount of everything physical on this world, and everything physical you have is something others don't and may possibly even need to survive. There is also much joy in helping others, whether it be helping the poor single mom next door by buying some groceries or cleaning her yard, giving a business loan to someone with a big dream, or donating money to feed the starving. "The Secret" is narcissistic to its core. It's modern snake oil, but I'm sure it's creators managed to manifest plenty of money. If you want to get rich, just create a slick self-help book/movie that tells people what they want to hear! Appeal to the ego, and you can certainly get rich, but even the makers of this piece of trash had to work a bit!
Pardon my peachiness, everything said is merely my opinion. :-)
On the bright side it's easy to make fun of this movie, and its shear sleaziness can inspire you to question your own laziness and ego, hopefully with some benefit.

Smallville is still the best........2007-09-11
I just discovered this series last year and now it's probably my favorite show on T.V. When a co-worker told me it was his only "can't miss" show I rented Season One. I was totally hooked and now OWN every season.
Since I watched the whole series in order, the character/plot progression has been fascinating. The relationships and character development really MAKE the show.
Lex and his slow slide to the dark side is more interesting because we see how it happens... how twisted and tragic his upbringing was. Clark's rich relationship with his parents is such a great contrast to Lex and Lionel, (I really missed Johnathan) and his growth toward his "destiny" has been so real (relatable even) and compelling.
Smallville has put it's own unique spin on Clark Kent/Superman and that's ok... In fact, it's been great. It seems like some people are so obsessed with the "Superman myth" they know, that they can't let go and enjoy... Too bad.
It's been a great ride and I want to see where THIS story goes. Clark and Lana have so much on screen chemistry that I'm halfway expecting my T.V. to start smoking every time they're in the same room! Wanting to see them get together STILL keeps me watching. At this point, it's going to be a tragedy if they DON'T wind up together... and knowing the way that Superman's story is "supposed" to go... It's really TOO BAD.
Chloe is a great character that is also unique to Smallville and I love her as Clark's "sidekick" and hope she continues to develop. Lois... is an interesting character too, but as Superman's future soul-mate, she's weak. Clark's relationship and SMOKING HOT chemistry with Lana is so much stronger, I'm really not feeling it with Lois at all. Which is is ok... because this is another unique "take" on the story.
But I'm sure at some point they will feel compelled to force these characters into their traditional roles and I'm not sure how they will get there from here.
Having to stomach seeing Lana with Lex was difficult in season six, but I can't think of one episode that I didn't want to watch again. There are very few T.V. series I can say that about.
It gets a "meh...".......2007-09-09
Smallville is the only television show that I watch on a regular basis that is still on air. Seeing as that is the case, it would be nice if the episodes and characters were consistent. This is sadly not the case in season 6. While there were some very, VERY good episodes in this season ("Zod," "Justice," and "Promise" ["Promise" actually got me to the point of tears it was so good] being the ones that stick out) the rest of the season was lackluster at best. I loved the episodes featuring the Green Arrow - they brought a much-needed alternate perspective of right and wrong, and were just plain cool (nice outfit, man). Other than those few nice episodes, the rest seemed to be repetitive and similar to the "freak-of-the-week" episodes of the terrible first season. I have to say the most dissapointing aspect of this season was the unbelievable, often sporradic character of Lana Lang. She seemed to change from episode to episode, with no real justice to the Lana I used to love from previous seasons. There was also the introduction of Jimmy Olsen who is played by Aaron Ashmore. The acting on his part wasn't too bad, but it seemed that his relationship with Chloe seemed forced at times, and the fact that he only showed up when the writers were in need of a love triangle situation made him seem like a poorly used plot device rather than a fully developed character. The dialogue often caused groans to erupt in the room (from myself AND friends who watch it with me). The poorly developed plot and horrible guest stars (sorry to say, but let's face it, pro-wrestlers aren't great actors and we have TWO this season...) and the hardly bearable change in characters in this mainly character-driven show made this season one of the worst in my opinion. The good episodes were good enough to keep me watching, but the rest either had me laughing at the ridiculous situations and dialogue or groaning at the repitition of it all. All in all, the good ones were really good, the bad ones were really bad, and it just seems to me that there were more bad ones than there were good ones. I still love Smallville, I just really hope that the next season has a little bit of consistency to it...
I love this show.......2007-09-06
I have to stop myself or I will watch it straight through in one weekend.
Naysayers beware.......2007-09-03
Season Six is such a great season. The emotional struggle within the combination of characters from green arrow to aquaman, cyborg, impulse is just the tip of the iceburg. instead of trying to put all eggs in one basket keep in mind that smallville is a show of gradual evolution.
Continues to Entertain.......2007-09-02
I, for one, enjoyed Season 6 and after reading some of the reviews, my own take on it is probably in the minority amongst the reviewers if not the general fans.
While the Justice League material was interesting and I thought the Green Arrow was a particularly strong character with strengths and flaws, I always have enjoyed Smallville for the relationships of the major characters: Clark, Lana, Lex, Chloe, Martha, Lionel, etc.
I'm definitely not one of these Lana haters as I don't mind declaring Lana is by far my favorite in the show. I do agree with the criticism I often see of her being written as quite slow on the take but unfortunately everyone seems to be blind when it comes to figuring out Clark. How long did it take Chloe? And she was shown Clark catching a car to finally get it. At least Lana figured it out on her own with a clever plot to catch Tom in the act. And Lois, clueless as ever.
I personally think the acting in the show is fine, all the major characteers are well played, it is an ensemble cast that goes well together. I do miss Jonathan Kent but understand why it was a good series move to have such a major life changing event in Clark's progression to Superman someday.
Did the major characters progress further during Season 6 - you bet they did. Clark is now firmly locked onto Lex as his major enemy and continues to see what his future life is going to be like, defending good against evil at the expense of his personal life. Lex really advanced into the evil stage, I loved Michael Rosenbaum's masterful take on it all. Lana has finally found out the truth and she responded like most people thought she would of all along (except Clark). She accepted Clark for what he is, regardless. She has now stood up to Lex. I'm sure she isn't dead in the explosion, they've resigned Kristin Kreuk afterall for the upcoming season. To me, the show would not be the same if Michael and Kristin are no longer in it. If Season Seven is the last, I hope they really do a fireworks last season ride!
For some of these people who rant so much against the show, why don't they watch something else then. Am I happy about everything in the show, no way. But I will continue to stay tuned and enjoy it for all it's many good things.
Can't wait for Season Seven!
Is Season Six worth buying? I ordered it, I sure think it is.

Customer Reviews:
Good guilty pleasure TV.......2007-09-13
Part of the show's success came from the fact that a lot of people can relate to a lot of the women on Wisteria Lane. From the mother struggling to make ends meet with maybe a bit too many kids to the one obsessed with image and perfectness to the misunderstand promiscuous neighbour, it seems kind of strange that men can find as much to like as the women do. Sure it helps the women are attractive and the season has enough intrigue, drama and humor to keep you coming back whether you're a guy or a girl.
On Susan's story, Mike has been put into a coma after being run over by Orson, Bree's new man. Susan meets Ian in the hospital and finds herself drawn into him while waiting for Mike to wake up. As for Bree, Orson's former wife Alma is missing and blame is put on Orson with Bree skeptical about who Orson really is. The divorce between Carlos and Gabby is nearly finalized and the 2 come to blows and trying to find other relationships including Edie for the former and a mayoral candidate for the latter. Meanwhile, Lynette deals with the new woman in her life, namely Nora who had a child with Tom before he met Lynette and Tom tries to get his dream, a pizzeria, off the ground.
Despite the fact it wasn't a nicely-praised season, I barely watched season 2. I kind of lost interest in the show or started to watch others so I just never watched. Season 3 has been seen as a return-to-form and while it doesn't really match the first season's brilliance, it still is a great watch. From the plot twists to cliffhangers to the comedic moments (Susan's overreaction to possible wedding cakes for one) are just as good as the first year. The show only slows down when Bree leaves on vacation - which was to tie into Marcia Cross' pregnancy - and the show just doesn't really intrigue anymore. Sure other storylines come to the forefront but you feel something's missing.
One of the show's strength was always its writing which always managed to blend the more outrageous comedic elements with character drama (the big one being the episode "Bang") and have it all fit together. From the playful narration of Mary Alice to the fights characters have with each other, it never manages to feel soap opera-ish even though a huge chunk of it tends to take its plays from the soap opera playbook like dead people who aren't dead to affairs and secrets upon secrets. My one complaint is that at times this season's arc felt a little disconnected from the 4 as a group. The first season had the women's lives rocked by the suicide of one of their friends which united them in their search for what happened and why she did while this season tends to have their own storylines separate from everyone elses with a meeting now and then.
Extras are slightly disappointing. We get moment favorites and a look behind the scenes but nary a single commentary is disappointing but still, it's the show that matters and thankfully this is just as guilty pleasure as the show can do.
Another Excellent Season of the Best Show on Television!.......2007-09-12
***DON'T WORRY--SPOILER-FREE REVIEW***
When I first heard of Desperate Housewives, I wasn't interested. Coming off the heels of Sex and the City's series finale, I thought it was destined to be a cheesey, watered down "replacement" for HBO's iconic show. However, after seeing the very first episode, I realized I was wrong. Desperate Housewives is entirely in a class of its own, and distinguishes itself with its unique blend of dark comedy, mystery, and suspense. After the first episode, I was hooked, and have been ever since.
In my opinion, the first season of the show was perfect. Great story, characters, writing, and performances by everyone involved. While many viewers and critics found Season 2 bizarre and irrelevant, I feel it may have been overly-scrutinized and simply didn't live up to the hype that Season 1's overwhelming success had stirred. Yes, some of the sub-plots were uninteresting, and the main arching storyline involving the Applewhites wasn't as intriguing as Season 1's story, but it was still an incredibly fun season to watch.
While Season 2 took on a much darker tone (maybe too dark for the characters involved), Season 3 managed to find the perfect balance of comedy and suspense--a formula that made Season 1 so successful. In fact, Season 3 is probably the funniest season yet! By now, the characters are so well-defined, that the actors and writers have more freedom to take them to some very funny extremes, without having to explain everything along the way.
As funny as it is, Season 3 also weaves a great arching mystery and a number of juicy stories for every character throughout the season, consistently keeping viewers coming back to find out just what will happen next.
Highlight episodes of Season 3 include the season premier ("Listen to the Rain on the Roof"), the INCREDIBLE, FANTASTIC, AMAZING "Bang," "The Miracle Song," "I Remember That," "The Little Things You Do Together," "God, That's Good," "Into the Woods," "What Would We Do Without You?" and the shocking season finale, "Getting Married Today."
The DVDs set is great, but a few more extras like commentaries and maybe some past season promos would have been nice.
Overall, this was an excellent season for the residents of Wisteria Lane! I can't wait to see what Season 4 has in store for them!
Rich and Dazzling : Almost Perfect.......2007-09-10
My Mom and I just finished watching a Marathon run of the entire DVD Set. We finished it in three days, which wasn't so bad really...
The Good:
1. Susan & Mike finally get married. This happens in the Season Finale. Through this season, Susan meets a British dude called Ian but thankfully he dumps her.
2. Bree gets married to Orson Hodge : Played by Kyle MacLachlan, this was my favorite new character this season. The role was very poorly written but the actor does a terrific job.
3. Andrew Van De Kamp comes home : The homeless gay son of Bree finally returns and becomes a series regular this season, though some elements here are a bit controversial (drug usage, gay prostitution, etc)
4. Edie and Carlos get together : A very unusual coupling, but it works. Edie attempts suicide in the season finale. You must watch!
5. Gabrielle Solis marries the Town Mayor : He only does it for the Latino vote, and Gabby finds this out only after she marries him. Oh woe.
The Bad:
1. Ridiculous Sub Plots
2. Teri Hatchers' over the top antics and dialogue
3. 45 year olds behaving like 15 year olds
4. Julie Meyer loses her virginity to Edie's nephew in the most boring and dull storyline ever
5. Bree's daughter gets pregnant and sent away - this wasn't very interesting
6. Lynette almost has an affair. Later, she gets lymphoma. Overall this wasn't a good year for her character.
All things considered, this season really came together. My favorite characters, namely Andrew Van De Kamp and Tom Scavo, all get a lot more screen time, and Felicity Huffman acts REALLY well this entire season.
If youre looking for a fictional fun soap-opera type series to lose yourself into, this is perfect. In fact, while watching it, I thought to myself that this is a worthy successor to Melrose Place in so many ways....
Four Stars.
Wisteria Lane's superb drama.......2007-09-10
As many people have already noted, Season 2 was lacking in substance with the weak Applewhite storyline, although this is not a reason to give up on it. The show, in itself has so much potential for more storylines, secrets and drama. It has a great base plot, of the five housewives (Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Nicholette Sheridan). On top of this, Marc Cherry and his team of writers have built a superb twist of storylines that have devloped, or can and will be over the next few seasons.
Back to Season 3. I won't give the whole storyline away here, although the character of Orson Hodge plays the lead role in this season's secret. From the first few minutes of the first episode of this series, are suspicions are raised. Watch out for episodes 7 'Bang' where a supermarket hostage situation take's place, and episode 16 'My husband the Pig', where this season's main secret comes to an early climax.
Desperate Housewives is a comedy drama to be watched over and over again, its storylines captivating and intriguing, with a real sense of suspense. Season 3 is of equal value as Season 1, and provides a climatic ending, which will make you cry out for the 4th Season. Enjoy it, love it, get it!
Still Lacking..........2007-09-09
I'm on my second time viewing the episodes of Season 3 on DVD. I remember being disappointed by Season 2, but after seing it on DVD decided it was not all that bad, just not as intriguing as the first.
But Season 3 irritates me. I feel like the entire Orson storyline was forced. I started out intrigued, but when everything was explained found it ridiculous and that it did not fit with the information that had been previously provided or hinted at early in the season. I wonder if Marcia Cross's pregnancy and forced bedrest had anything to do with the storyline change - but it felt as if it were not thought out at all, or the writers completely changed courses on the direction they wanted the storyline to take and then had to shove a square peg into the round hole they had created.
Other than that, I liked the Gabby/Victor thing, Mike-in-a-coma-out-of-a-coma thing, and can't wait for Season 4 to start and see what happens with Edie's apparent suicide. If only the Orson storyline had played out a little better, I might have found this season more satisfying.

A coming-of-age story starring a bunch of fiftysomething stars rather than teenage actors, Wild Hogs is a well-intentioned comedy starring John Travolta (Woody), Tim Allen (Doug), Martin Lawrence (Bobby), and William H. Macy (Dudley) as a group of Midwesterners facing their own versions of mid-life crises. They decide to escape their frazzled personal lives and rejuvenate themselves by taking a road trip on their slick hogs. But their journey is less Easy Rider than it is Three Amigos (plus one). As individual actors, each lead is a formidable star. But throw them all together into one crammed screenplay full of scatological humor and uncomfortable homosexual gags and it doesn't quite work. The actors spend so much time trying to outdo each other on screen that they aren't believable as friends, much less comrades. Walt Becker (National Lampoon's Van Wilder) offers minimal direction on a film that could've used some reining in, especially during scenes between Macy and Marisa Tomei (as a diner owner who inexplicably falls for him). There are promises of some interesting vignettes when Ray Liotta shows up as Jack, the leader of a real motorcycle gang. When Jack threatens to break Dudley's legs, Dudley counters, "I'm a computer programmer! I don't need my legs." Without missing a beat, Jack says, "Fine, we'll break his hands." It's not that the lines are so funny, but they way Liotta delivers them that adds some life to this flailing comedy. Unfortunately, his scenes with the rest of the cast are all too few. --Jae-Ha Kim

Description
Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy star in Wild Hogs, the hysterically funny comedy about four weekend-warrior friends who decide to rev up their ho-hum suburban lives with a cross-country motorcycle adventure. They don their leathers, fire up their hogs and throw caution and their cell phones to the wind as they hit the open highway. A lot can happen on the road to nowhere, including a run-in with the bad-to-the-bone Del Fuegos, a real biker gang who don't take kindly to the wannabes. Filled with hilarious misadventures, screwball situations and madcap mayhem, this laugh-out-loud comedy is a movie your whole family will go hog wild over.
