Norton's Villain Flies High!.......2003-01-27
When Michael Dudikoff's hero in "Black Thunder" asks Richard Norton's turncoat why he's in the middle of a hijack and ransom
scheme for a zealously guarded fighter jet, Norton simply replies, "Getting rich." Versatile actor Norton delivers the line so craftily, and so convincingly, that no audience of "Black
Thunder" will ever second-guess this bad guy's motivation. As
Dudikoff's prey, Norton delivers a portrayal of the treasonous "Ratcher" (great baddie name)that lifts this plane chase movie off terra firma and out of the "formulaic action picture" category. Top marks for this fast paced movie with thanks to actor Richard Norton!
bloody americans..........2001-01-30
just reading the other reviews on this page just goes to show how stupid americans are, i mean, did they even watch this movie? Its the worst movie ive ever seen in my life! It uses recycled footage, it uses an Israeli Kfir fighter as the 'secret' fighter, it has bad acting, and so many other reasons why its crap.
Black Thunder.......2000-09-14
Pretty good action flick! I especially liked the effects in this film! When the Jet "cloakes" it is amazing..........WOW!
one of Dudikoff's best.......1999-08-18
"Black Thunder" is one of Michael Dudikoff's best films. This is what action films should be: just straight, all-out action without a lot of doppy romantic scenes and excessive language. The film rockets along at the speed of the top secret jet Dudikoff is trying to recover, and the film's over before you know it. If you're a fan of "military-pilot-trying-to-recover-stolen-top-secret-prototype-fighter-jet," then don't miss "Black Thunder."
good movie.......1999-04-26
i've been a fan of Michael Dudikoff ever since i saw American Ninja and have watched his acting evolve. would love to see him in more films that has the potential for box office hits.

Two early George Reeves films prove him handsome and charismatic enough to handle the Superman role he's revered for, but neither captivate like the mythic superhero's story. Thunder In the Pines, a comedy-drama starring George Reeves as Jeff Collins, a logger competing in vain with fellow logger Boomer Benson (Ralph Byrd) for a sultry French mail-order bride, Yvette Cheron, who leads them both on in her search for a sugardaddy. Reeves is studly in his logging shirts and boots, though the real star of the film is Pearl, the logging company owner's fiancé who sabotages the entire crew to expose the French maid's crooked plan and end the men's idiotic contest. In Jungle Goddess, Reeves once again stars with Ralph Byrd, in a story about a buxom blonde heiress, Greta Vanderhorn (Wanda McKay), proclaimed a 'white goddess' by African natives. Both films are relics of political incorrectness, Thunder In the Pines's plot revolving around a logging contest during the height of deforestation, and Jungle Goddess reiterating a King Kong-like combo of sexism and ignorance of jungle cultures. But one with an eye for humor will laugh at clever scenes, such as when tough-lady Pearl mixes a Podunk version of champagne for Yvette made of vodka, tequila, beer, whisky, gin, bitters, grenadine, and all else. A documentary about George Reeves helps historically set the tone, and other bonus shorts honor Reeves as a hero before he donned blue tights and red cape. --Trinie Dalton

Thunder in the Pines.......2007-07-13
This was a very enjoyable film. A fantastic Sepia tone print. I recommend this cool little fun movie.
GEORGE REEVES IS SUPERB!!!.......2007-05-12
He was born George Keefer Brewer in Woolstock, Iowa, the son of Don Brewer and Helen Lescher. The couple had moved at the time of their marriage from Helen's home, Galesburg, Illinois, to Woolstock, where Brewer had obtained a job as a druggist in the tiny town not far from his own hometown. George was born five months into their marriage; they parted soon afterward, Helen moving back home to Galesburg.
Reeves' father remarried in 1925 to Helen Schultz and had children with her. He never saw his son again. George's mother moved to California to stay with her sister. There Helen Lescher married Frank Bessolo, who adopted her infant son George. The marriage lasted fifteen years. While George was off visiting relatives, Helen divorced Frank Bessolo and later told George that he had committed suicide. Reeves' cousin, Catherine Chase, told biographer Jim Beaver that George did not know for several years that Bessolo was, in fact, still alive or that he had been his stepfather and not his birth father.
He began acting and singing in high school and continued performing on stage while attending Pasadena Junior College. He also boxed as a heavyweight in amateur matches until his mother Helen ordered him to stop, lest his good looks be damaged by the sport. Accepted into the Pasadena Playhouse, he had prominent roles. Bessolo's film career began in 1939 when he was cast as Stuart Tarleton (although incorrectly listed as Brent Tarleton), one of Vivien Leigh's two suitors in Gone with the Wind. It was a minor role, but he and Fred Crane, both in dyed bright red hair as "the Tarleton Twins," were in the film's opening scenes. Contracted to Warner Bros. at the time, the actor's name became "George Reeves" and his GWTW screen credit reflects the name change. He married actress Ellanora Needles in 1940, but had no children with her during their seven year marriage.
He did yeoman duty under contract to Warners, starring in a number of two-reel short subjects, and appearing in several B-pictures (including two with Ronald Reagan) Thunder in the Pines and Jungle Goddesss and three features with James Cagney, Torrid Zone, The Fighting 69th, and The Strawberry Blonde. Warners loaned him out to producer Alexander Korda to co-star with Merle Oberon in Lydia, a box-office failure. George Reeves is superb in all these early movies. He lit up the screen with his special screen presence.Released from his Warners contract, he landed a contract at Twentieth Century Fox, but was released after only a handful of films. He freelanced, appearing in five Hopalong Cassidy westerns, before director Mark Sandrich cast Reeves as Lieutenant John Summers in So Proudly We Hail! (1942), a war drama, opposite Claudette Colbert, for Paramount Pictures. He won critical acclaim for the role and garnered considerable publicity
Superman and Dick Tracy Together!.......2007-02-08
I can recommend this set of DVDs for any George Reeves fan and for the great bonus features which include The Life and Legacy of George Reeves, George Reeves As I Know Him and Hollywoodland - Flight of the Innocent.
The films themselves are not inspiring unless your a classic movie enthusiast in which case you may find them entertaining and historically interesting. Both films star George Reeves and Ralph Byrd. Byrd played Dick Tracy in the Tracy serials and was destined to play him again on television in the early fifties. Around the same time George Reeves did the pilot for the Superman television series which gained a sponsor two years later. George Reeves is remembered most for his role as Superman, but let's not forget his other roles in films such as "Gone With the Wind" and "So Proudly We Hail." He was a fine actor. "Thunder in the Pines" and "Jungle Goddess" are typical adventure films of the 1940's. The actors do a credible job with scripts that we've seen done before and better. In JG two pilots discover a lost heiress is queen of a jungle tribe and in TITP two lumberjacks compete in a logging race to win the hand of a beautiful girl. Both movies are filmed in Sepia-tone and include other familiar faces of the period such as Wanda McKay, Armida, Denise Darcel, Michal Whalen and Greg McClure.

Special footnote, George Reeves was an American actor best known for playing the title role in the television series Adventures of Superman (1953-1958) ... Reeves found himself so associated with Superman and Clark Kent that it was difficult for him to find other roles, as did other actors associated with iconic roles, like Ralph Byrd with Dick Tracy, and Bela Lugosi with Dracula ... after two seasons with Adventures of Superman, Reeves expressed dissatisfaction with the one dimensional role and the low pay, at 40 years old, he wished to quit and move on. Friends and contemporaries like Alan Ladd, Victor Mature and Robert Mitchum had become major stars, with major roles in A-pictures, getting paid substantially more than Reeves's Superman salary ... over the course of the 104 episodes, Reeves often showed gentlemanly behavior to his fellow actors, he insisted that his original Lois Lane, Phyllis Coates, be given equal billing in the credits in the first season, when Coates was replaced by Noel Neill (who had played Lois Lane in the Kirk Alyn serials), Reeves quietly defended her nervousness on her first day when he felt the director was being too harsh with her. (ref: Neill in video documentary "First Lady of Metropolis," included on DVD compilation of Season 2 episodes, released in 2006) ... at times Reeves delighted in standing outside camera range, mugging at the other cast members to see whether he could break them up ... by all accounts there was a strong camaraderie among the principals ... Reeves performed various charity work for the many young fans and gave generously of himself wherever needed.
Great job by VCI Entertainment for releasing the "George Reeves Double Feature: Thunder in the Pines & Jungle Goddess" (1948), digital transfere with a clean, clear and crisp print...looking forward to more of the same from the '40s and '50s vintage...order your copy now from Amazon or VCI Entertainment, stay tuned once again for epics and jungle adventures that only VCI Entertainment (King of the Serials) can deliver.

not bad for low budget indi film.......2007-05-08
If you bear in mind that this is a low budget independent film, it's enjoyable. It's gritty, seeing nyc's lower east side before gentrification is pretty cool, many of the scenes seem authentic, and some of the characters are very humorous. The plot is a little choppy, the now-dead punk icons (thunders, nolan, dee dee ramone) make cameo appearances in scenes that have little to do with the plot-- but it's good to see them. The scene with dee dee is actually so dee-dee, if you've ever seen an interview with dee dee. Richard Hell is the exception-- he has something of a role and for once plays a nice guy (in 'smithereens' and 'blank generation' he played not very sympathetic character roles). You also get to see Maryanne Bracken-- who plays main character "Lisa"'s aunt (Bracken is Johnny Thunders' sister). And the film is short enough that the weaknesses don't become too detracting to the enjoyment of the film.
Please kill me!.......2004-01-14
What About Me is fascinating as an historical footnote of the East Village music and/or drug scene of the 1970s.
However, as for acting skills, Rachel Amodeo's monotone voice could call forth bats from Hates.
The acting was so bad as to be comedic
As for screenplay? You've got to be kidding.. . ?
The best part of the movie are all the cameo roles from ghosted musicians victims of drug overdoses.
On a positive note, the social commentary on Tompkins Park was memorable.
What About Me certainly ranks as a cult film, right up there with Revenge of the Killer Tomatoes . . .
Customer Reviews:
A cult classic.......2007-06-05
A cult classic! Disney like film about two kids who turn to the animals for guidance and help. Silly, but great fun. I did shoot this film so I am a little biased. Great to see it after all these years.

RKO Radio Pictures present "THUNDER MOUNTAIN" (1947) (60 mins/B&W) (Dolby digitally remastered) --- actor Tim Holt graduated to starring his own series of 1940's "B" westerns and to playing solid supporting roles in higher budget features ... At the peak of his career in the 1940's "B" westerns, he was the "fastest draw" in the movies with the ability to draw his revolver in five frames of film (slightly over one sixth of a second) ... From 1941-43 and 1948-52 Tim Holt was a top ten box office star ... Inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1991.
Under Lew Landers (Director), Herman Schlom (Producer), Zane Grey (author of novel), Norman Houston (screenplay), Paul Sawtell (Original Score), Jack MacKenzie (Cinematographer), Philip Martin (Editor), Charles F. Pyke (Art Direction), Albert S. D'Agostino(Art Direction), Darrell Silvera (Set Decoration), John Pommer (Second Unit Director), Roy Granville (Sound Department), John C. Grubb (Sound Department), Russell A. Cully (Special Effects) ------ the cast includes Tim Holt (Marvin Hayden), Richard Martin (Chito Rafferty), Martha Hyer (Ellie Jorth), Steve Brodie (Chick Jorth), Virginia Owen (Ginger Kelly), Jason Robards Sr. (Jim Gardner), Harry Woods (Trimble Carson), Tom Keene/Richard Powers (Johnny Blue), Robert Clarke (Lee Jorth), Harry Harvey (Sheriff Bagley), Dick Elliott (Express Agent Dick), Dick Foote (Eddie), Allen Lee (Jim, Stagecoach Driver) ------ the story line is the classic tale from the pen of Zane Grey, filmed on Lone Pine and with a fine cast has Tim Holt with sidekick Richard Martin riding the trail of action and adventure ... Harry Woods (The Best of the Badmen) is the lead baddie with a brewing feud between the Haydens and Jorths, both families at each others throats ... Marvin Hayden (Holt) and Ellie Jorth (Martha Hyer) have announced their engagement which doesn't set well with the families and the plans of the culprits stirring up all the trouble ... based on the 1922 novel "To The Last Man" by Zane Grey this RKO gives us the best they have with an outstanding director and camera work ... take note two veteran B-Western actors Tom Keene and Steve Brodie bring realism to this classic oater --- from June 1947 until June 1952 this is the first of Tim Holt's 29 postwar B-Westerns --- great stunt work by the RKO stunt personnel David Sharpe (stunt double: Steve Brodie) --- don't leave the theater until the final scene ... another winner from the vaults of RKO Radio Pictures --- this is a must watch for the B-Westerns fans in all of us.

western.......2007-01-11
Classic B western. Tim Holt was up to par. A Zane Grey western that is good(for the time is was written) like all his. If you are not a B western fan then you would not like this one.
Description
THE LEGEND OF BLACK THUNDER MOUNTAIN Separated from a wagon train, Mr. Parish (Ron Brown) and his children are attacked by armed men, forcing young Anna and Jamie (Holly and Steve Beemer) to flee into the wilderness with their father's fate unknown. They don't realize they carry a secret treasure map, but with gold-hunting George and Buzz (Keith and John Sexson) in pursuit and wild-eyed mountain man McTavish (F.A. Milovich) on the loose, there's plenty to fear. Yet help comes from the unlikeliest of places, including a ferocious wolf pack, the majestic wild eagle, Balderdash, and even a maternal grizzly (Bozo the Bear), which they name after their friend Mrs. Mullen. Filmed in Washington State's Wenatchee National Forest, this delightful family adventure combines breathtaking cinematography with more thrills than a back-country safari--and almost as many wild animals! Approximately 83 minutes Color

A cult classic.......2007-06-05
A cult classic! Disney like film about two kids who turn to the animals for guidance and help. Silly, but great fun. I did shoot this film so I am a little biased. Great to see it after all these years.

The best of the Kart........2003-05-28
Video Kart came out with 4-double feature/discs featuring the Eddie Dean, Bob Steele, and Lash LaRue B Westerns. All are good but this is the best of the group - not so much as to the selection but more so as to picture quality, especially Driftin'River. The other black and white features had very intense contrast- so that the night and dark scenes were essentially black and white with hardly any shades of grey in between, which makes it difficult to appreciate the finer details. But this is not so with Driftin River which somehow come off well. The Bob Steele feature- Thundertown was also much better than the previous two releases by Video Kart. The features appear to have been cleaned-up versions of the originals but not actually full blown restorations. These are better than some of those B westerns transferred to DVD but were merely copied from the VHS EP versions. Let's hope Video Kart comes out with more of these westerns - especially those Cinecolor team-ups of Eddie Dean and Lash Larue.

Description
Speedsploitation! "Punk kid" Scott Clayton wants to be a racing champ despite having zero racing experience. Getting no help from real-life champ Fred Lorenzen, or from his own father, Lorenzen's head mechanic, the "ambitious young boy with a chip on his shoulder" tries to drive for Vanessa Hamilton's team. But since Vanessa would rather snag Lorenzen than dumb Scott, she hopes to pressure Scott's dad by setting the kid up with oddball gangster Pinkerton Bentley and his bikini clad "collection of playthings".... With a healthy emphasis on music, '60s go-go gals, and racing-car smash-ups, The Speed Lovers is a wild and wacky one-man regional rarity -- "Filmed in Speedcolor!"
Plus: Blaming former best friend Mickey Arnold for the drunken accident that killed his fiancee, stock-car jockey Ticker Welsh goes head to head with him at the "Dixie 400" -- "a grueling 400-mile race with instant death" -- anxious to settle old scores and raise some serious Thunder in Dixie.... Hard boiled, tightly directed, and surprisingly intense, this revved-up actioner also features a marvelous detour to a log-cabin nightclub where stripper Sheri Benet does "her exotically famous chichi dance!" So if you're on the wagon and your tailpipe's a-draggin' these two rubber-burning mini-classics will strip your gears and pop your clutch! Vroooooooooooooom...

Pit Pork.......2006-03-22
I grew up in North Carolina & spent a good part of my childhood in the mid 60s at racetracks. I once saw Richard Petty eating a bar-b-q sandwich before a race, something these movies brought back memories of.
These two films are great examples of Speedsploitation (part of the Hicksploitation family.) The first, Speed Lovers, is a hilarious ham-bone excursion into big hair, go-go music, and overgrown racetrack "kids" well into their 30s. The star (who also wrote, produced & directed the picture) is someone I wish I knew. The scene where he pushes the "bad guys" into a pool and grabs a last-minute kiss from one of the poolside molls before his escape sums up the spirit of this movie in living color. What a guy.
The second picture, Thunder in Dixie, is the polar opposite of the first, the Yang to its Yin. In black & white with a top-notch story of hurt, anger, revenge, betrayal, and finally resolution, this story really packs a punch. Although betrayed by a floozy who dies & seems a saint to racetrack driver Ticker, it's really his former partner & racer Mickey that you feel the most for. He's really sexy, yet his best friend turns on him, & his wife is the illegitimate lovechild of Clark Gable & Loretta Young. I like to think that after the conclusion of the movie, Ticker & Mickey realize that they love each other & run over Mickey's wife at the next race.
High octane recommendations for both movies, each for different reasons.
