A suave count in love with a showgirl invites her entire company to his secluded island castle. Legend has it that his father and his grandfather decapitated their wives then leaped to their deaths from a castle tower, and history seems to be repeating itself when the girls in the party start losing their heads. It takes an hour to get past the silly melodramatics and complicated love tangles and to the tepid scenes of murder and gore. Actor-turned-director Alfred Rizzo shows no flair for suspense or horror, and the film is mired in lugubrious plot complications that only get in the way of the real story--is the melancholy count following in his father's homicidal footsteps? What really happened to his first wife? Will anyone in the crisscrossed company find real happiness, or should they settle for mere sex and voyeurism? Despite the title, there is no bloodsucker in this film, the least of Image's Redemption series to date. Included is a trailer (which features shots not in this version) and an extended introduction by British horror hostess Eileen Daly (which was actually recorded for a different film!), a black-leather Elvira with a whip and a penchant for kink that may not be to the tastes of all audiences. - Sean AxmakerDescription
Gothic lesbians prowl the corridors of a miserable little castle in Italy and fall prey to a deranged count with resplendent canine gnashers, a ghostly white complexion and the personality of Atilla the Hun. This is Italian Gothic sleaze with the added bonus of some bizarre gropings amongst the kitchen staff and other dubious sexual shenanigans. Contains graphic violence and nudity.Customer Reviews:
1970s Italian Eurosleaze.......2003-12-14
This film made in 1975 has recently been issued on DVD and comes with its own theatrical trailer which in some respects is more daring than seen in the film! Now anyone who buys this film has probably already read its synopsis anyway and knows what to expect - Italian softporn from the mid 1970s.I bought it because I am attracted to Christa Nelli (credited most often as "Krista Nell").The absence of a cast of characters I find most frustrating in a lot of these Eurosleaze films from the 60s & 70s.I had hoped the producers would show the cast of characters as one hears their names in the film but without a cast list, it is very difficult to link them to the actor concerned.Krista Nell played "Cora" but underneath that massive hair style, costume and make-up and dubbed voice it is sometimes difficult to distinguish her.
There is mostly a two dimensional portrayal by the actors of their parts and no one really stands out.Maybe something is lost in the the whole translation & dubbing process. What were the positive points?Well the music was atmospheric and of course if you're into beautiful lesbian soft porn it's there. The external locations used were good and I would like to know where they filmed the castle on its island. It purports to be set in "Ireland" (North or the Republic?)in 1902, so everyone sports period piece costumes. Some of the scenes I found unintentionally funny especially those sex scenes!!Anyway an enjoyable romp.I rated it the lowest at one star.
