too annoying to watch frequently.......2007-09-11
As far as a workout, this was pretty good -- able to get the heart rate up and work up a bit of a sweat in 20 minute chunks, which was what I was looking for.
But Denise drives me nuts. I couldn't take the constant chattering and coddling about what a "champion we are" as we "train like an ath-e-lite" while we "think about how good we'll look in a bathingsuit" because I'm "a fat burning machine!" If it wasn't constant, or if it was in a different tone of voice, I think I could live with it. Her form was pretty good, though one of her minions was wearing high-heeled sneakers which really rubs me the wrong way.
When I ordered the dvd, I thought I'd be able to put up with it, but now my next step is trying to mute the volume for the dvd so I don't throw my TV out the window.
Fast-paced and fun.......2007-08-30
This is a fast-paced, mostly athletic style cardio and toning interval workout with lots of step-touch squats and lunges, jump ropes, high-knee jogs, kickboxing moves, etc. The intensity level of the workout really depends on how much energy you put into them and I found Denise's upbeat, positive personality and constant pep talk to be well-suited for this video despite the fact that she clearly isn't everyone's cup of tea. At 50 minutes, it works the entire body and while it doesn't go too heavy on the weights, it will make you sweat profusely and burn off lots of calories. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is because, as others have noted, Denise's cuing isn't the best - if not downright confusing at times - and so you may have to go through this video a few times before finally catching on to the quick-changing moves. I'd say it's fairly appropriate for all fitness levels, as beginners can take the intensity and weights down if needed, while advanced exercisers can simply increase these factors (although the fast-pace of the toning exercises probably won't allow you to up the weight too much). Although not perfect, I still greatly enjoyed this workout and the time flew by!
Rating: Good
great workout.......2007-08-19
I just tried the bootcamp workout and did all 3 sections. The cardio section really got my heartrate up and that was great. The second section was a mix of cardio and strengh. I would have liked a bit more strength exercises but I am just going to use heavier weights to get more from it. The flexability section was a great way to finish it off. I really enjoy her upbeat attitude.
"I LOVED IT!!".......2007-08-16
I love this denise austin dvd... it makes you sweat and it makes you feel like you have acomplished something for your self! and its great having denise coach you all the way thru.!!
Good Workout.......2007-08-15
The workouts on this video are pretty intense although only they are only 20 minutes each. Austin can sometimes seem a little strange but she gives a good workout!

Nice belly blaster.......2007-08-09
I like the shortness of this workout. There's 5 workouts, each 10 minutes long, with the warm up and cool down included, with a good workout in the middle. I've combined 2 of the workouts to do at a time. While I still don't have a belly like hers, I have noticed results in mine, and I like it!
Video and Shipment.......2007-08-09
The video is ok, I thought it would have more abs exercises on the ground. They shipped me the video twice and charged me twice.
This is a great workout dvd........2007-08-07
My daughter and I love this dvd. Suzanne Bowen is easy to follow and the exercises aren't too hard to do. The 5 different workouts give you variety and with each only 10 mins. long you can make it as challenging as you like by doing as many sessions as you like. We've only been doing it for a couple of weeks and I can already see results.
great video.......2007-08-01
I used to have the 8 minutes abs etc. type of tapes. This one is just the best out of all of them. Easy to follow, great choices. Just love it !!!
Excellent variety for more than just your abs.......2007-07-31
I picked this up in part because I wanted to take a look at the ten minute cardio segment, and in part because the instructor was featured in the Lotte Berk releases, and I wanted to see if she brought any of that here. Having done some of it, I think it's a great, varied program that can fit into a lot of people's schedules and, as a bonus, will work more than just your abs.
The first section doesn't include one single crunch but still has an athletic feel. This features pushups, front planks, forearm planks and side planks, with lifts for the hips (for side planks) or limbs (front planks). Of all of the sections, this was the one that felt the most Lotte Berk to me as she threw in some reminders about tucking the hips and pushing the weight back. I really liked this section, but then I like anything that doesn't require crunches. Seriously, I felt this entire segment through my back, arms and buttock as well as my abs.
The second section featured Pilates movements. I'm pretty sure that the instructor isn't a certified Pilates instructor, but she stuck to enough of the fundamentals to be respectable. This section included the Hundred, some of the Stomach Series, Roll Ups and a modified Teaser. Bonus: she also included some work for the back, noting that Pilates was not all about the abs.
The third section was the cardio segment I'd been curious about. On preview, she doesn't look like she's moving fast, and she does break several times to instruct, but it still gets the heart rate up. It felt like a hybrid of standing ab work and kick boxing, with an emphasis, obviously, on kicks and knee lifts. Here, too, she also included instructions for the tuck familiar to Lotte Berk practitioners.
The next section was pretty much classic, straight up, gym-style crunches. As I've said, these are my least favorite way of training my abs, but if that's what you're about, she packs most of the traditional variations in here: classic crunches, side crunches, crunches with one knee up, double crunches, etc.
The last section is a mix of the first and the fourth, with some of the planks and crunch variations. This would be a great way to get in some traditional as well as functional training for the abs.
Whatever your preference for training, this dvd should give you some enjoyable options.

Fun, Effective & Easy to stick with!!.......2007-08-15
This really is a great workout! I have been doing this workout with the Blast & Tone workout for a 60 minute workout 5 days a week and so far have lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks! I have had trouble in the past sticking with an exercise program; I used to walk on the treadmill for 60 minutes but would get so bored even with my walkman I never lasted more than 3 weeks. Now it's just become a part of my morning routine. I do agree with some other reviewers that the moves can be hard to get down at first, but as has already been said if you just stick with it you will get it down and be glad you did! The only question really is how bad do you want to get in shape and lose weight? Just stick with it! It will work!
Disappointed.......2007-08-14
I had purchased his tapes in the past and I enjoyed them more than this one. This is much shorter in length, and I miss the live band and the more involved Richard that was in the earlier tapes.
This CD Was Great for Me!.......2007-07-07
I got just what I wanted with this tape. It is fun and got me moving around. So what if I am not always in sync!? I enjoyed the music, and it is fun to sing along while you are exercising. I ordered this with the disco tape, which is over an hour in length, while this tape is only 30 minutes, but that doesn't bother me.
Richard Simmons: 60's Blast Off.......2007-05-30
I have to admit being a little apprehensive about buying this but, now, I'm glad that I did. It's easy once you get into the swing. If you grew up in the 60's you'll remember the dances so it will come back to you.
Buy it! Definitely worth the risk.
Blast Off to the 60's.......2007-05-14

Coasting on the successes of Gods and Monsters and George of the Jungle, Brendan Fraser turns in yet another winning performance in this fish-out-of-water comedy in which Pleasantville meets modern-day Los Angeles, with predictably funny results. Fraser stars as Adam, who was born in the bomb shelter of his paranoid inventor dad (a less-manic-than-usual Christopher Walken), who spirited his pregnant wife (Sissy Spacek, in fine comic form) underground when he thought the Communists dropped the bomb (actually, it was a plane crash). Armed with enough supplies to last 35 years, the parents bring up Adam in Leave It to Beaver style with nary any exposure to the outside world. When the supplies run out, and dad suffers a heart attack, Fraser goes up to modern-day L.A. for some shopping and long-awaited culture shock. More of a cute premise with lots of clever ideas attached than a fully fleshed out story, Blast from the Past is also supposed to be part romantic comedy, as the hunky Adam hooks up with his jaded Eve (Alicia Silverstone) and tries to convince her to marry him and go underground. The sparks don't fly, though, because Silverstone is saddled with the triple whammy of being miscast, playing an underwritten character, and suffering a very bad hairdo. Fraser, however, carries the film lightly and easily on his broad, goofy shoulders, mixing Adam's gee-whiz innocence with genuine emotion and curiosity; only Fraser could pull off Adam's first glimpse of a sunrise or the ocean with both humor and pathos. Also winning is Dave Foley as Silverstone's gay best friend, who manages to make the most innocuous statements sound like comic gems. --Mark Englehart

Charming, Funny and Hip!.......2007-09-07
Meet Adam Webber(Brendan Fraser, The Mummy, George of the Jungle), born and raised in a bomb shelter with his mad scientist father(Christopher Walken, Pulp Fiction) and his sherry swilling mother(Sissy Spacek, JFK). Adam's simple childhood has been filled with Perry Como records, The Honeymooners re-runs and good old-fashioned family values. Now, 35 years later, Adam is about to emerge into a bewildering modern world in search of supplies and a simple girl from Pasadena. Instead, Adam meets Eve(Alicia Silverstone, Clueless) a modern LA woman, jaded about life and burned by love. The result is an engaging romantic comedy that's charming, funny and hip!
Zany and Entertaining.......2007-08-28
Very enjoyable movie about a paranoid Father who is afraid of nuclear war, and the collision of errors that sends his family into a bomb shelter for 30 years. It is heartwarming, funny and romantic all rolled into one! And the Dad, he never learns!
funny and sweet.......2007-07-24
I had to sit and watch this anytime I saw it on tv. I finally decided to buy my own copy so I could watch it when I wanted , commecial free.

Perfect vehicle for Brenden Fraser. Good script, cast, comedic timing. I have watched it 3 times. I like more each time

For beginners.......2007-08-26
It's a good workout if you've decided to finally get moving. It's fun, and just enough of a workout to get yourself started on an execise routine, especially if you've been neglecting yourself.
A Good Workout.......2007-08-23
In typical Denise fashion, I always feel energized after completing 2 of the workouts. A couple of the transitions are slightly awkward, otherwise, a good workout.
blast away the pounds.......2007-08-07
I feel that this is a wonderful tape it has 3 15min walks that is a mile long. There are three levels that you can do from easy to hard. You can pick according to how you feel. You get 1 mile in 15min when you are pressed for time I love this tape
Blast away the pounds?.......2007-07-12
I haven't had this dvd long, but it's alittle weird to me. It really get's on your nerves... rent it before buying if you can!
Not as good as the WATP series.......2007-07-03
I went through the 4 segments on this DVD for my workout - the 3 1-mile walks and the 10-minute stretch. I was disappointed because I expected a better quality workout from an industry leader like Denise Austin. While doing all 3 walking segments at once did get me sweating, the routines were difficult to follow because there were little, if any, queues to take you to the next move. I clumsily stumbled along for most of the workout, which I hate to do. The only redeeming thing about the DVD was that it at least kept me moving at a fast pace, regardless of whether or not I was able to decipher what she was about to do next, but I didn't have to spend the money to do that!

Customer Reviews:
Chaquita-Banana Move -Fun! BUT not for everyone.......2007-08-07
When I first started this workout I got frustrated because I couldn't get the dance moves exact. But I continued and moved on, after a while that stuff didn't bother me and I really started to enjoy myself. Now my baby brother excersices with me (he can't get the exact moves down either) but he still enjoys himself while working out.
The DVD is more dance oriented. ALOT of the moves are very old skool hiphop (early & mid 90's). For this reason, I believe this dvd is best for us females especially those in their mid 20's to early 30's who still remember first learning these moves growing-up.
THE MAIN POINT IS: YOU'LL LOOSE THE WEIGHT. AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!
(p.s. Their outfits can be a bit distracting, one of the dancers is wearing ripped-up pants(literally hanging from the waist)making her look a bit shippwrecked. And a very cheesy bubbly bouncy dancer that the camera keeps focusing on contributes to the added level of difficulty in picking up the footwork.)
But,Overall you'll be entertained during your workout!
Awesomely and intensely irritating.......2007-08-07
This dance dvd is just so annoying on so many levels, I don't know where to start. But I'll compare it to other dance fitness DVDs I have and hope it helps you make a decision.
I've got Marie Forleo's Prevention Dance Yourself Thin - she's really great in that - explains the steps clearly and is pleasant and encouraging. My only criticism of that DVD is that it is a tad slow and you spend a lot of time marching rather than repeating the steps over and over - you have to do it yourself to work up a sweat. But she's very pleasant and doesn't shout at you in this one. There are maybe 4 backup dancers who aren't distracting but help you follow the steps.
So I bought the Crunch Cardio Dance Blast thinking, based on other reviews, that it would be a great workout and as I liked Marie, was looking forward to it. But I find with this one, she's totally different - she shouts "that was awesome" just so many times ,she tells you to "crack it, uh-huh" ( whatever that means!), she squeals quite a bit, she rushes through the steps (yes, you can rewind and replay but still, it's annoying) and the steps are just not much fun. I couldn't believe it was Marie because she is just so different. Also, there are about 7-8 backup dancers who look like they're at a party (one looks like she is high on illicit substance) , they are distracting and it just makes the screen look so busy. They hoot and holler too, and are not that helpful if you can't follow the steps.
It's like this Crunch DVD is aimed at a slightly younger audience -( I'm in my thirties) with all the "attitude", the squeals, shouting and "whoo-hoos". I wouldn't mind so much if the dance steps themselves were effective, but they're not very interesting and I've barely gone through the complete routine. After becoming familiar with the steps, maybe I've done it twice in a month ... and even then I need to turn the sound down so I don't hear all the squeals.
If you're new to fitness dance DVDs, like I was, and don't know which to get or who is good, then I suggest the Crunch Fat Burning Dance Party and 10 Minute Solutions dvds with Jennifer Galardi. She is a much better instructor - the moves are fun and entertaining and she is not at all annoying, kinda cute the way she encourages you with the steps. While others have said her steps are hard to follow, it's just a matter of watching, rewinding, doing it in slow motion until you have it. I've never done any dance before in my life and have picked up the steps easily enough. You do work out a sweat with those ones.
So this one just makes my blood pressure rise and it's no surprise that I do not recommend it. Marie's other - the Prevention one, is good for beginners, but not terribly vigorous , whereas the Jennifer Galardi dvds are fantastic.
An entertaining and fun workout!.......2007-07-17
My friend let me borrow her copy and I love it. Some of the moves are a bit awkward (and you can't help but laugh) but you really feel the burn when doing it. I enjoyed working out to it, which is saying a lot because I hate to work out and have never had fun doing a workout video. The only fault I found was if you're not used to the dance steps it takes a few times doing it to be able to keep up.
Fun, good moves, but not really a workout.......2007-07-17
This dvd is really fun to do and the moves are pretty decent, but I wish it was more of a cardio workout. I would give it 5 stars if it at least got me breathing hard. Marie is a good instructor and not overly cheerful like some others (although she does say things like "stick your booty out!"). I like the steps, but they are way too easy and she spends too much time explaining some of them at half-time. There is also way to much marching in between, which is another reason you don't get as much of a workout. Although sometimes the marching is more of a workout than the dance steps.
Even though it isn't really a workout, I still do it occasionally on light days or as a warm-up to another dvd. I wish Marie would put out another dvd that was more advanced -- I would buy it for sure.
boring.......2007-07-13
I wanted a change from kickboxing all the time so I thought "hey dancing" hopefully it's like Jazzercise(which I loved), well it's not. She went to fast and I couldn't keep up. I think I am coordinated, I used to dance...25 years ago (I'm 40!!yeah!!) This was NOT for me.
Customer Reviews:
Great for strength training!.......2007-08-15
I do this workout with the 60's blast off for a combination of aerobic and strength training and they work great! I have lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks and am definetely noticing firming where there used to be flab. This workout is easy to get into and because you can select which weights are right for you it's really great for people of many different levels of fitness. If you stick with this it will work! I highly recommend it.
If You Don't Have It, Get It!.......2007-07-15
Grab a set of weights and get ready for a great tonin' workout! I am a huge Richard Simmons fan and have tons of his tapes and DVDs, but this is one of my absolute favorites. As always, Richard is a great motivator and the queues he offers are on point and easy to follow. As an added bonus, Simmons has included an ab workout that is a wonderful addition to this DVD. I am truly looking forward to using this DVD and working up to using even heavier weights for an even stronger workout. Don't hesitate....buy today!
Great Upper Body Workout.......2007-05-13
This is a good workout for your upper body, using 2 sets of light weights (not included with the dvd purchase). It's short, so it's easy to get through even if you're pressed for time. It doesn't focus much on the lower body, but there is an excellent ab workout and cool down at the end.
Suprisingly great workout!.......2007-04-29
I bought this in a kit and finally tried it and was so surprised to find that it is an all over great workout and actually challenged me! I'd never worked out to a Richard Simmons tape/dvd and was surprised by how much I enjoyed not only working out to this but his instruction! This is a complete body workout and I would buy this again!
Killer ab section on this workout!.......2007-02-18
I have always loved Richard Simmons. This workout requires two sets of weights but I was fine using the same set for both segments that used the hand weights. This is a great upper body workout. The bottom is targeted as well but with less intensity. The final segment of the DVD is a mat abs workout. This workout was tougher than most that I've seen. I know my abs will transform with this. Not sure about it if you have a neck problem. You can probably improvise. Maybe it was just my form that made my neck sore.
The warmup starts with the opening credits. It caught me off guard and I had a bit of a hard time following it but that was just after viewing the DVD once. I don't see this being a problem in the future.
This is a strong 30 minute routine that does hit every body part.

The High Priestess Of Heavy Metal.......2007-09-12
END OF AN ERA by Nightwish may very well be the greatest Heavy Metal concert video ever made! This even tops Manowar's THE ABSOLUTE POWER (sorry Joey!) and Iron Maiden's DANCE OF DEATH. The band is tight and the performances electric. But it's the incredibly beautiful Tarja Turunen who makes this concert more than just another video. This one is a true treasure.
All Metal fans know that Manowar are the Kings of Metal and that Doro (Pesch) is the Queen of Metal. But, in my humble opinion, Tarja Turunen is the undisputed "High Priestess of Metal." Her voice is just incredible and her performance in this video is so powerful and energetic, enhancing the gothic feel of the band.
It's very sad to note that Nightwish has parted ways with Tarja. The whole affair with the posting of the letter by the band on the website was, in my opinion, nasty! Such problems should be kept private, not put on display for the whole world to see. This is a tragic blow for Heavy Metal music and for Tarja's zillions of fans (why are the fans ALWAYS the biggest losers?). We finally get a Metal band with class and rare beauty only to have it cruelly taken away. I can't say what Nightwish will be like with Annette but I hope they can retain some of the magic that Tarja brought to us all. So, in conclusion, END OF AN ERA is Nightwish at it's best. But every time I watch it, I feel like Heavy Metal, the greatest form of music in the world, has taken a cold, brutal slap in the face due to the breakup.
To Tarja, I just want to say that I met you at Prog Power a few years ago and had my picture made with you. It was my wish to personally thank you for the touch of class that you had brought to my music and that's just what I did. You were quite gracious and appreciative of my words. I will admire you and love you forever and the photo we took is something I will treasure as long as I live!! Thank you so much!!
Metal Rules!!! So does Metal's "High Priestess!!"
Great music. Video editing is awful.......2007-09-07
I am a fan of this excellent band. Music is great in both performance and quality of audio.
Compared to the previous DVD "From Wishes to Eternity" in this one they did a better job in synchronizing audio to video, now it looks like Tarja is really singing.
However, I give the worst rating to the video editing because on fast songs they change the camera angle/image every 2 seconds which becomes very annoying. They tried to do something fun or creative but maybe they were on drugs or just had too much caffeine. First off, I'm not the biggest fan of Nightwish. Speaking in general, I can do without all of the "operatic approach" to their music. I'm much more of a METALHEAD so to speak, and I don't usually listen to bands that base their music around that "welcome to the opera" feel like Nightwish...
That being said, it was very difficult for me to get into Nightwish upon first listen a couple of years back. I was already a very big Lacuna Coil fan at the tinme, but these are two totally different bands, with different sounds / styles / and all around talents. You simply can't / shouldn't compare the two. Needless to say, I found Nightwish to be too opera oriented for my everyday listening....
Now onto this review....
I was completely blown away with this live performance. Nightwish is without question one of the tightest, most impressive live acts I've seen on DVD in quite some time. These are extremely complex songs to perform, and I couldn't have been more impressed with this purchace....
I was never a big Nightwish fan, but after seeing this incredible live performance, I have a lot more respect for this band. They are truly something special in a live setting, and even if you're like me and don't care for the opera feel to the music, I'm sure you'll still embrace "End Of An Era" with open arms after watching it for yourself....
5 STAR PERFORMANCE / BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!!!!
Just...wow..........2007-08-08
To tell the truth, I had already seen most of the videos from this DVD on youtube, but I still wanted to own the entire DVD. When I saw that it had finally come out for NTSC format, I almost couldn't believe my eyes. And the price is a steal! Anyway, so I bought it, thinking worst case scenario, I wouldn't be able to watch it on our TV. Well, I had no reason to worry...so anyone who's holding out on purchasing this because they're worried about it playing on NTSC, there's no need to fear!
On to the video itself. The concert footage is excellent. It's obvious that Nightwish puts on a great show...or at least they did with Tarja (we have yet to see how they do with Anette). The sound is very clear, their performance itself was spectacular, the picture is perfect. Just watching the concert alone makes it worth the price, which is good because the special features aren't all that great.
The set includes a documentary, which was horribly boring because either it doesn't come with subtitles, or I'm just not smart enough to find them. Either way, most of the documentary was in Finnish or Spanish...I could pick out words here and there, but that's about it.
It does have concert pics on it though, and that's pretty cool. LOTS of them, too!
I'm not a big fan of live CD's, so I haven't really listened to them a whole lot, but they're pretty good from what I DID hear of them.
I'd highly recommend this to any Nightwish fan. It makes a great addition to my Nightwish collection!
FIN.......2007-06-25
This is it. The last Nightwish concert with Tarja. Includes 2 CDS and 1 DVD. A real deal considering the $17.99 pre-order. A steal. I guess it was going to happen sooner or later with Tarja having two careers. I don't think her career will be the same after Nightwish. She sings opera and I own a lot of it and she doesn't have the voice to be a front line opera singer. I don't think either side will be the same in this breakup. Sad to see it end this way. This concert and CD set is our last great memory of them.FIN!!!

Two Excellent Cardio Workouts.......2007-07-20
I find this DVD to be one of Denise Austin's best cardio workouts. The DVD contains two workouts: the first, a kickboxing workout; the second, an interval cardio workout with 5 pound hand-weights. Both workouts are 20 minutes in length.
The kickboxing workout is of high intensity. It always makes me sweat. Unlike some of Denise's interval training workouts, you don't really get any recovery time. Instead of "relaxing" with a light jogging motion you are doing jacks. This is wonderful if you want an intense workout but probably not ideal for people looking to start exercising after a lull.
The interval strength training workout is predominantly a cardio workout. You utilize hand-weights but only for about a quarter to a third of the workout session. Denise has incorporated a few very basic dance moves into this workout, something I found a great deal of fun. This cardio is not as intense as in the kickboxing segment but, never the less, delivers and excellent workout.
Many people have commented on Denise's poor cuing in this DVD. Denise is always excellent with enthusiasm but has never been good with cuing. This DVD is no different. If you *watch* the DVD instead of just listening for vocal cues you will be fine. Also, after doing the workout three times you will get an idea of how moves will progress and cuing will not be an issue.
I highly recommend this DVD for its excellent cardio segments.
Two mostly solid workouts but with some flaws.......2007-07-10
I should begin by saying that I've never clicked with Denise; I used to see her TV show years ago, and I just always found her raspy voice and fake (to me) enthusiasm to be annoying. However, I like both kickboxing and interval workouts, so I decided to be open-minded and give this video a try. The two workouts on this video are each approximately 22 minutes in length; I'm guessing that they were taken from Denise's TV show, but the commercial breaks have been nicely smoothed over.
The first program is called Kickbox Blast Off. Prior to the start of the workout, Denise briefly reviews the different punches, which was helpful. The workout itself begins with a simple warm up which includes punches, moves on to some standing abs work (twists), and then goes into kick-punch combinations. The kickboxing work is low impact, but unfortunately, Denise throws in quite a few jacks; I could have done without these. I definitely enjoyed the kickboxing combos, but Denise's exceptionally poor cuing really detracted from the workout: she suddenly goes into new moves and combos with absolutely no warning or instruction. At times, I found myself looking to her six background exercisers for guidance (they often displayed better form anyway), but even they were obviously having trouble following Denise. Towards the end of the workout, there is some focused leg toning work, and then it ends with a 3-minute Tai Chi-like cool down.
The second program is called Interval Workout With Weights. In this workout, Denise alternates 3-minute cardio intervals with 1-minute light toning intervals. After the 3-minute warm-up, the first cardio segment was somewhat dancy and included mambos and chassés. The first toning interval focused on shoulders, and then it was back to cardio for a kickboxing segment. Next came biceps work, another dancy cardio interval, back and triceps work, and then a final kickboxing interval prior to the 4-minute cool-down. The workout is mostly low-impact, but Denise does include some jacks and plyometric moves. Although Denise's cuing was again off, she repeats many of the moves, so I was eventually able to follow along. This workout did nicely raise my heart rate, but I felt that the toning segments were pretty inconsequential (using heavier weights would help). There are only two background exercisers in this segment.
If these two workouts were led by a different instructor, I probably would have really enjoyed them, but Denise's poor cuing and form definitely had a negative impact. These workouts are probably best suited to advanced beginners; I'm more in the intermediate category, but using my 1-lb. weighted gloves during both workouts increased the intensity for me. I'm glad I gave this video a shot, but at this point, I probably would not be willing to work out with Denise again.
don't waste your time or money.......2007-07-02
This is a terrible terrible kickboxing workout. The production values are from 1978, Ms. Austin's cueing is non-existant and most egregiously, Austin has the presence of a bag of hair.
If you want to actually break a sweat try the Janis Saffell Hardcore Kickboxing.
not beginner / clutzy friendly.......2007-06-13
I love Denise Austin's workouts, usually, but I really can't get into this one. I am a clutz and one of the reasons I like denise austin is her aerobics are usually more simplistic for people like me who can't do the aerobic moves fast. this video is one I can't get through because I can't follow in sync and get frustrated.
Great Quick Workout.......2007-05-15
Enjoyable workout!
if you don't like denise's perkiness or you focus more on the music/backdrop than the workout, you may not like this video.
Otherwise its alot of fun and a nice quick 20min workout. (2 20 min sessions)
the only downside is denise's queing is at her worst.

Far Better Than It Has Any Right To Be!.......2005-03-16
The following points meant that I very nearly didn't give this DVD a chance: -
1, The Magic Ring - Tom and Jerry's last 'feature length movie' that turned out to be very disappointing.
2, The poor artwork on the cover of this DVD.
3, The unimaginative title.
4, The back cover blurb that states that T&J 'put aside their differences to work together'. It didn't work in T&J The Movie and it only just works here.
I'm pleased that my loyalty to the characters made me buy this - its worth it.
Of the original characters only Tom, Jerry and Spike appear. Their design isn't that of the classic shorts but is still true to them while being more simple and fluid. And they don't (including strangely Spike) speak! To imagine the standard of animation, writing and design - think a very good episode of Animaniacs or Pinky and the Brain. The jokes and reactions are a little on the Tex Avery side but this works alright and results in some very funny facial expressions particularly from Tom. The fighting gags are generally good but some are very familiar particularly the opening sequence in the kitchen which is very similar to the opening of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (this may be on purpose as it seems to be directly referenced with the cookie jar on top of the fridge). Once T&J get out of the kitchen and wreck the rest of the house we are on a roll that lasts for a good 10 minutes of mindless violence before we start with the 'plot'! The sight gags also raise some smiles including the design of the landing pod and the giant robot.
The plot is fine but any character or characters could have substituted for T&J - they are pretty incidental. Saying this, the space setting allows for some great jokes - T&J in zero gravity!
The problem with some of the recent T&J output including 'The Movie' is that, since T&J themselves are not really capable of carrying a whole feature themselves, the other characters have been pretty bland and dragged the whole thing down. This is different. Although the Martians are pretty irritating they only appear in the last third of the film - the astronauts on the other hand are excellently written and performed making the film watchable when the stars are not on screen.
There was one point of this film however that constantly annoyed me throughout - the music. Although composed very well, using Carl Stalling's trick of interpolating song tunes to comment on the action, it is all sythetic. No real instruments - just awful elevator muzak. Being used to the classic shorts which were backed by a huge orchestra, this is a poor show and takes the polish from an otherwise enjoyable film. This aside, on the strength of this I look forward to the next T&J outing and hope that more classic Warner and Warner-owned characters can find a new lease of life on direct to retail DVD.
