I hate sequels.......2007-02-03
First of all, with Chris Walken not involved in these pictures. It's kind of different and the quality of the movie goes down somewhat. What I did like was the storyline, and how an innocent individual gets caught up with something she didn't know about herself, her family and most of all a very bad dude who is trying to be on her side. At one point she doesn't know who to trust! It's not the best installment of this series, but, on the other hand, the storyline is different and there is a new battle raging between good and evil. But, who is the villain and who is good? That's the big tale of the tape.....enjoy...

The Prophecy movies should die for good...............2006-03-31
Ah, here we are again with another installment of a series that could of just been buried after the 3rd Christopher Walken movie. I would of said bury it at the first one but anyway, that's just be. Kari Wuhrer (Kate's Addiction, General Hospital), I might add who is hotter then hot can be, sad to say doesnt breathe any life into this movie. I havent seen Prophecy: Uprising because the video store only had this one, why I dont know. All I got was Wuhrer plays Allison who supposedly hit part of a book which holds the key to Armageddon (if I'm wrong, hey I dont care the movie was horrible anyway) and she goes to Satan for help, played by John Light (Dracula II: Ascention, Heights) who resembles actor James Marsters in some way. Light creates his own Satan that of of course Viggo Mortensen's great performance in the first Prophecy. Light is the only thing that helps out this movie....a little. Enter Dylan, played by Jason Scott Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Soldier) who is a human lackey to evil Angel Stark played by who else but Tony Todd (CandyMan 1-3, The Crow) of course who wants Dylan to kill Allison. He also wants the last page of the book she hid. Ok, well that's swell, not really from Director Joel Soisson who helped out with the Dracula movies (that 2nd and 3rd installment which werent needed). Wasted a perfectly good Tony Todd....I love Tony Todd but come on man! Soisson uses bunch of the cast from Patrick Lussier's Dracula movies like Scott Lee, Light and Jason London (Dazed and Confused, Man in the Moon) who appears for a brief second as Simon the Angel who I read was in the first one. I know, nag nag nag but what there's nothing else I can do but nag on bad movies. Skip it completely. What's good is Christopher Walken isnt in this...yay! Disappointing thing is Kari Wuhrer wasnt naked in this...oh darn! Oh well.
Armageddon Approaches..........2006-03-28
Let me start by saying that this review will be a little different from my previous ones. This is because that this movie that I'm reviewing, "The Prophecy 5: Forsaken", doesn't need much set up. When this movie was made it was at the exact same time as its predecessor "The Prophecy 4: Uprising". So, basically all the things I said that led up to the story details of the fourth film, are pretty much the same for this fifth installment in this entertaining religious/sci-fi saga.
Continuing directly from the fourth film, "The Prophecy 5: Forsaken" finds Allison (Kari Wuhrer) still protecting `The Lexicon', an ancient religious text that continues to write the events of the future that will soon become reality, from those angels that would like to possess the book in order to prevent something evil from occurring. It becomes apparent that the reason the angels are trying so hard to kill Allison is because the Lexicon will soon reveal the identity of the person who is to become the Antichrist. If the dark angels discover the identity of the Antichrist and kill him, then they can conceivably prevent Armageddon from coming to pass, the problem is God has already planned for Armageddon according to the Bible, so by killing the Antichrist these dark angels are turning their backs on God. One angel in particular, named Stark (Tony Todd), is leading the other dark angels to find Allison. The problem is angels can't kill a normal human being without God's consent, so to do their dirty work they've hired a hitman (Jason Scott Lee) with the proviso that if he completes this mission he will be spared an eternity in Hell. With the pieces in place, and events set into motion by Satan (John Light), because he doesn't want the dark angels to succeed because if they do the Antichrist will not come to power, Allison is in for the fight of her life as she struggles to follow God's will, and oddly enough God's will is in line with what Satan wants because according to the book of Revelation the Antichrist must rise to power. So, Allison is left with quite the dilemma as she realizes that to follow God means allowing Armageddon to come forth, but by rebelling against Him, she will, in theory, prevent the apocalypse from coming to pass.
When I watched this movie in conjunction with "The Prophecy 4: Uprising" I found myself somewhat disappointed at times because everything was moving so slow in the beginning. There didn't seem to be any real purpose behind why the dark angels were trying so hard to find The Lexicon. To me the previous film was good, but I didn't know what the dark angels wanted, and finally in this film you find out what their true purpose was. During the course of this film, I didn't like some of the choices that were made in terms of dialogue at first, because the dark angels were borderline blasphemous with statements against God. However, after the movie finished, I realized that because the dark angels had already rebelled against God, and the fact that their jealousy was the cause of their rebellion the dialogue choices made more sense because they no longer loved God, they just wanted to see their side win at any cost.
One glaring problem with these last two installments in this franchise, which was revealed in this film, was that the dark angels act like Heaven remains closed to humanity to this day. This is a problem for me because at the end of "The Prophecy 3: The Ascent", the Nephilim, Danyael, defeated the dark angel Pyriel, allowing Gabriel to become an angel of light once again, and opening up the gates of Heaven for all humanity. This problem aside, the movie was good, although it would not stand up on its own as a stand alone film, the story requires that the viewer see the previous installments, or at least the previous film. The acting was strong, Jason Scott Lee was a nice addition as the hitman with a conscience, and Kari Wuhrer was even more confident in her role as Allison, humanity's last hope against the dark angels. Out of all the casting choices, Tony Todd was one I disagreed with, he worked on the level that he was playing the lead villain, but he just didn't fit into the role in my opinion, he just isn't charismatic enough to be this angel that can manipulate people to his will. Other than that the remainder of the cast was just fine.
In the end, I enjoyed these two latest entries into `The Prophecy' franchise though not as much as the first three films, and this film in particular I found to be the weakest in the entire series. Still a good film, and if you've seen the previous movies you should watch this one as well; however, if you haven't watched "The Prophecy 4: Uprising" I would recommend watching it first, the reason I say this is because that film and this one do not have any numbers in their titles to suggest where they fall in the series, I added them for the purpose of my review and the fact that when you watch the movies they are referred to by their number on the DVD menu. Still, a solid series, though these final two films do contradict the first 3 films to some extent, but that mistake is easily overlooked, in light of the continually solid storyline and performances.
"The Prophecy 5: Forsaken" is rated R for violence, language, and brief nudity.
DEVIL LIGHT.......2006-03-14
This fifth entry in the ongoing PROPHECY series seems a little incoherent at times, and was supposedly filmed at the same time the fourth film was made, but held for separate release. Once again, lovely Allison (Kari Wuhrer) is still protecting the Lexacon with a little help from the devil himself (the magnetic John Light). This time, a bad angel named Stark (Tony Todd in a swaggering performance) has hired a hitman (mediocre Jason Scott Lee) to off the girl and retrieve the book. Stark wants it because the last page contains the name of the Antichrist who will spawn Armageddon. Stark doesn't want Armageddon because it will give God more holy souls that survive; Satan WANTS Armageddon because he too will get the bad guys that don't. Light is very good as Satan, combining a boyishly charming demeanor, but simmering with evil beneath. With his swaggering self confidence and physical attributes, Light might have made a wiser choice to fill Pierce Brosnan's shoes as James Bond? Anyway, he is a strong presence in these films and hopefully if there's a sixth, he'll have more to do.

Kids love this DVD.......2007-08-23
Awesome exchange for violent meeaninless videos out there. My son and all his frinds love this. he played it at his academy and girls alike enjoyed this short video. Good message to discuss with your kids - ck it out!!
Very Good.......2007-01-11
Excellent DVD. Perfect for the 8-12 year old boy especially although my 12 year old and 4 year old girl also loved it.
Only complaint is that it was too short. A one hour story would be better.
Awesome!.......2006-11-11
This was worth the wait, definitely their best yet. Can't wait for the next one to come out!!!
AWESOME, state-of-the-art CG animation.......2006-09-29
Boy, I tell you, if this is what we can expect from future all-CG animated movies or series, we're in for a treat. This is the best CG animation since Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Each installment of Angel Wars seems to get better in the animation department. The first one was good, this one is great. At times, it doesn't even look like it's CG animated. I'm talking about nearly photo-realistic scenes.
The sound is really good too. It's only DD 2.0 but if you've got a 5-channel stereo setting on your receiver, I highly recommend that setting because it really brings out the bass and even at that, the dialogue is still crystal clear.
If you liked the first two installments, you'll love this one.
Outstanding. Another Solid Installment in the Epic Series........2006-09-14
I saw a pre-screening of Episode 3 back in July and this movie looks to be another solid installment in the Angel Wars: Guardian Force series. It picks up shortly after the cliffhanger in episode 2, taking the entire battle-ready team into a dimensional underworld to rescue a fellow angel, retrieve a sacred artifact, and prevent a rapidly transforming demon from crossing over into the human plane.
The CG and overall production quality is once again first-rate, something you'd expect to see in a feature film rather than a values-based children's video. I have no doubts that my three kids, especially my 9-year old boy, will love this newest episode, and I also think that grown-up animation enthusiasts such as myself will also be pleased. The trademark anime-style of action is back with a slew of cool new bad-guys. Once again the heart-pounding action deftly underscores a positive message without getting preachy - that is what I always find so amazing about this series.
Imaginative, original, entertaining and inspiring - this series is outstanding. Hopefully we will not have to wait a whole year for the next installment.

Customer Reviews:
My kids really enjoyed this.......2006-01-31
I am suprised by the previous review by "Mother of Three" who has never reviewed anything but 2 angel wars episodes, both of which she hated. Why did she bother buy two if she hated it so much? My two kids love this franchise, and i would be the first to call out something that seemed inappropriate. Granted my kids are a bit older than the Veggie Tales viewers; they are 8 and 10, and i was a little suprised it was a christian show the first time we watched it, partially because of the suprisingly good production, but when the moral lessons sparked talk about it in their youth group, the youth pastor asked me about it. After witnessing my kids' suprisingly mature discussions, i recognized that the show showed them that they themselved make a difference in a spiritual battle that goes own unseen by our mortal eyes every day - that our choices make a difference. While the messages are not overt, they are definitely there if you can read between the lines, as i believe it should be. My youngest loved it. I was glad to see they found something so positive that they actually found cool. We all can't wait to see episode 3. I had heard it was coming out this past fall, but i could not find it at Christmas in stores. I will keep my eyes peeled though.
Wow! Imaginative and Original........2005-09-01
I loved episode one, but episode two is even better. It picks up where the first episode left off and we get to see some of the other angels on their missions and in high action. I can't say enough how great this series is - totally imaginative and completely original, the stories are well thoughtout, the characters are fun and interesting, and the designs are unlike anything i've ever seen before (think angels with a futuristic anime twist). The action is awesome and the positive underlying themes are strong, but are not rammed down your throat. Both kids and adults will enjoy this, and the adults will especially appreciate the craft put into telling this story that both engages, entertains and pushes stong values. We need more shows like this, not the unoriginal and dirivative garbage that we see popping up everywhere. I loved this show, and you will too. I can't wait to see more! When is the movie!?!

Customer Reviews:
CONCERNS WITH DOCTRINAL TRUTHS!!.......2007-05-21
I must admit that I found these movies to be very enertaining and visually stunnning. Good art work and good consept. You now.. the spiritual battels and all... BUT I have my concerns when it comes to depicting accurate Biblical turths about demons and angels. Like angels sinning or that the demons seem to MAKE the humans sin. Also the lach of scripture. I love the concept but if we remove God frome the piture, even a picture with angels in it, we bring God down and make him no more than a tool for human use not the Lord of all creation.
I urge Parents to deeply consider how these movies water down the truth and the implications that that may bring.
Awesome Carttons!.......2007-04-02
We used these cartoons in our church and our kids watch them constantly at home. When we showed them they seemed to interest kids ages 4 to 13. The music is awesome and the message is fantastic. We highly recommend all three Angel Wars episodes and we hope they come out with more soon.
The Best Out There.......2006-12-05
All three episodes should be in every DVD home (and public) library...in the world ! This is not an exaggeration. These three titles are THAT good! Clever, creative storylines that inspire, encourage, and embolden--AngelWars are more than a cartoon story taken from between the lines of Scripture, they are a unique "behind the scenes" look at the spiritual battle being waged day and night for the hearts and souls of all people. If this sounds "schultzy",
than don't take my word for it--buy all three for yourself and see the "other world" that collective creative genius Team Angel Wars has created. You will watch it again and again.
~CD & Ethan Lee
Bring On the Angel Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-08-11
Wow! I had seen the DVD on the shelf for weeks and thought it was just another weak, wanna be children's video. Boy was I wrong! This tape is packed with action, adventure, character building lessons and fun, fun, fun! But I wouldn't recommend it for children under 6 (maybe even 8)One last star would have been given for more scripturally accurate dialog. Over all, I'd buy the second one as well.
Christian Theme that Kids will Stand Up For.......2006-07-26
Our kids (4 and 3) love this movie. when we first received it they watched it four times. lots of sword fighting action, good vs evil, our kids want to be guardian angels now! AWESOME!!

A solid, yet flawed "Girls-with-Guns" guilty pleasure... .......2004-09-11
In 'Angel Force', Ah Mun(Moon Lee Choi Fung) portrays an HK cop who travels, with some black ops commandos, to Thailand to rescue a gweilo(Foreigner)bureaucrat from a drug kingpin. 'Angel Force' is flawed, forgettable, and nothing special. Also, too many of the music cues in the film sound like porno music. The jungle warfare scenes make this film feel like a poor man's Rambo. However, its decent performances and solid action(staged by Yuen Bun) help the film pack a good punch. Also, I, personally, enjoy watching the sweet, petite Moon Lee shooting and beating the crap out of men twice, or triple, her size. Well, on screen, at least. Now, on to World Video's DVD. The World Video DVD is pretty lackluster(as with most World Video DVD's): the 1:85 letterbox format is shown in a 1:33 full screen version, there's no theatrical trailer, no restoration, no subtitles, and a lame collection of video spots with cheesy techno music over them, etc. In the DVD's favor, it's watchable in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English(although, they're all labeled "German" for some odd reason), and the budget price is nice. 'Angel Force' may not appeal to all, but action junkies may enjoy it.

Decent overview.......2004-01-08
This DVD provides a decent overview of attack aircraft, dating back to 1910. It includes interviews of pilots of the time and original video of early flight. At the end, it analyzes the future of attack aircraft and emphasizes stealth technology as the main driving force.
I didn't give this DVD 5 stars because I was looking for a little more depth into more recent attack aircraft, but that was a personal grievance and is not a criticism of the quality of this DVD.
Great Documentary.......2000-02-21
This was a wonderful and informative documentary on bombers since the beginning of aviation. There is much information that I did not know that is exclusive to this DVD. The back cover shows a B1 Bomber but there is virtually no footage of this plane. This was a dissapointment but you will see the B 52, F 111, and many others including the stealth B2 bomber. Your only mistake in buying this DVD is that for a few bucks more you can have the 3 DVD set in a collectors case for less than the price of the three together. It includes bombers, fighters, and attack aircraft.
I reccomend this to any aviation lovers because of the content and exceptional price. It is only in 2 channel audio for all you home theater buffs. IMAX please come to the rescue.
Two thumbs up from a private pilot.

a big pile of alien doo doo.......2005-05-21
an alien ship lands in a small Mexican town and The Interceptor Force, lead by chisled Oliver Gruner, are sent in to find out what's going on...soon, they lose a team member in the process of arriving and things get a little fishy when the boss, Brad Dourif decides to send a missle to blow up the town and get rid of any evidence. Gruner's team consists of actor Glenn Plummer (Speed 1 and 2, Salton Sea) and actress exPlayboy Playmate Angel Boris (hot but cant act worth crap). Gruner gets in trouble with the Mexican leader and his Mexican Mafia...they run around...they get taking over by the alien force, big fights, alien phaser guns shooting, Gruner running away from big explosion, town go boom and then Gruner get up, he get slapped by woman with purse and then years later they make even more stupid sequels (Interceptor Force 2 and Phantom Force (with 21 Jump Street heartthrob Richard Grieco) with even more stupid actors. Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters 1 and 2), why the hell did you sign up for this? A pile of alein poo
Crappiest film ever seen.......2004-12-20
This has definitely become my very favorite, toppling Deep Blue Sea from the top of my list of raspberry films. It is not only that the plot is anything but plausible - the acting is awful and the punch lines are out of line. Unlike other sci-fi spoofs, this movie has very few jokes that make it worth viewing.
Only the extras among the cast playing Mexicans look like such - and they don't speak a word in the whole movie.
**** SPOILERS AHEAD ****
In fact, the 'Mexican' girl admits to come from Sacramento at the end of the film, right before she chases Gruner across the desert. This scene and the effects of the atomic explosion make you laugh in desperation after 50 minutes of boring, pointless action.
After seeing this film, I still wonder who had been serving the drops (and why) to Gruner during the fight in the saloon, and if this was supposed to be a prank at all. I can understand the director's acknowledging his father's enduring patience in the credits.
Summarizing: If you have more than average sense of humor and mercy AND your friends are joining in, rent this film. You will enjoy ranting on about it.
Great FX but.............2000-07-20
There are some great set pieces in this film that make it worth seeing if you're into special effects. The first is a great dogfight between stealth bombers and an alien spaceship. Then there are the shoot outs with the alien and a nuclear explosion. The film is basically about a team who defend Earth against an alien species. Olivier Gruner leads the team and the excellent Brad Dourif is their commander. The problem with the film is that the action comes at the start and end of the film. The middle 40-50 minutes drag terribly making it an effort to watch in one sitting. The dialogue ranges from OK to pretty lame, as does the acting. Still, Dourif and Gruner are always watchable and Gruner has a great stunt at the start. It's a shame, but not a complete waste of time thanks to the effects.

Description
In the village of Holfen, a number of young women are found stabbed to death by what is determined to be an ancient dagger with a curved and rusty blade. The superstitious locals believe the murders to be the fulfillment of a curse placed on them in the 17th century by Baron Von Klaus, a sadistic libertine who killed many women before dying in the swamps surrounding his castle. The Baron's spirit is said to live on in his male descendants, but von Klaus heir Ludwig (Hugo Blanco) doesn't arrive in town until the day after the latest murder. He is entrusted with a key to his ancestor's torture dungeon and begged to bring an end to the family curse by visiting it, destroying it, and leaving the castle, never to return again. But will he have the willpower to resist the lure of his horrific heritage? Never before released in America, The Sadistic Baron von Klaus is a stylish, black & white, Gothic whodunit from horror maverick Jess Franco.

euro-bore.......2002-02-03
I agree with Frankenberry from Hollywood Ca...however he was much too kind...THIS IS THE WORST mess I've purchased in a long time and I sold it for junk. This is not Franco at his best, it's Franco at his most boring! Not even worth keeping as a Franco curiosity. So the cinematography is nice and the print is good...nothing happens until that ridiculous "torture scene"! That's not why I enjoy Euroshock. I want something that keeps me glued to the film and this waste of disc material wasn't it....I adore Image for their diligence in reviving these old chestnuts with such TLC, but they should have slipped the old Baron out the back door to the dumpster. Pee-eew. I'll wait for "Mill of the Stone Women"---it ain't Franco, but at least it's Euroshock!
Jess Franco Classic Finally available!!!.......2002-01-21
Howard Vernon stars in this classic Jess Franco film about a man who inherits his family's sadistic habits. This disc contains the often missing dungeon/torture sequence that is a real eye opener. The widescreen transfer is perfect and this is in french with english subtitles. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Franco fans and horror fans in general.
A traditional and excellent gothic horror film from Franco!.......2001-11-02
Jess Franco is known primarily for his "who cares?" approach to film-making, which is exemplified in such works as "Succubus" (1969) and "Vampyros Lesbos" (1970), where attention to such details as a coherent plot, good acting, and photography are sacrificed in favour of a disconnected, yet erotically charged, atmosphere of dissolution and dark despair.
"Baron von Klaus"(1962), by contrast, is a traditional gothic horror movie. The genuinely eerie mood of the film results from a relatively tight screenplay, decent acting, good cinematography and inspired direction.
"Baron von Klaus" bears considerable resemblance to the equally engaging "Doctor Orlof" (1964). Both are filmed in highly effective black-and-white, both tell stories of reclusive madmen, and both feature the creepy, bug-eyed Howard Vernon.
The DVD release is as excellent as the film itself. IMAGE adds another solid entry in its EUROSHOCK series. The film reproduction is first class, with sharp detail and minimal print damage in evidence throughout.
Put off watching a Franco film- don't delay!.......2001-11-02
For those of you who have put off watching a Franco film- don't delay watch this film! This is one of his most atmospheric, scary, and obsessed films. There are echoes of H.P. Lovecraft here: the young heir falling under the influence of his evil ancestor "Charles Dexter Ward". "The Music of Erich Zann" comes to mind when Hugo Blanco states "My grandfather was a great musician and a murderer". Older reviews state this was a mediocrity, I disagree. There are many tense moments to be found in this mystery. This print features the uncensored torture scene, but does not have the pre-credit murder sequence that I have read exists. The image is beautiful and crisp. The soundtrack is noisy with an ever present hiss, but this is not terribly intrusive. The alternate footage is hardly worth having; it being a shortened version of the explicit torture sequence. The music is virtually non stop, changing mood according to what the scene requires. A "Take Five" variant is just one of the highlights.
Slow but worthwhile early euro horror from Franco.......2001-10-29
This early 1960's Jess Franco film never had a US release (until this new DVD from Image) and it's kind of easy to see why. Not that it's bad...it's not. It's just that it's pretty old-fashioned, talky and slow going for the first hour. And when it finally picks up, we are subjected to a deliriously out-of-place torture-rape-bondage-nudity sequence that surely would have shocked any American audience at the time. I'm not complaing --- but I can just see American distributors watching this at the time and scratching their heads saying "Whoaaa!!" The scene is just so out of context with the rest of the film which feels like something out of the 30's. And if they trimmed out the sequence, nothing would be left except for a very average mystery thriller without much of a payoff. Still, it definitely has appeal for euro-horror buffs and giallo fans with it's crisp B&W photography, excellent use of the 2.35:1 frame, and other ethereal qualities. A few unintentional chuckles add to the fun. This is Franco in his earlier period before he became ... and he handles all the technical aspects with care and skill. The script is just not as compelling as his Dr. Orloff thrillers, unfortunately.
The only extras are an alternate "softer" sequence of the rape scene (still contains minor nudity, though) and the original french trailer. If you're a serious euro-buff or Franco fan, you'll probably want to check it out. Otherwise, there's a lot of better stuff out there for the more casual viewer. Image should be applauded, though, for releasing such limited appeal titles. This will be looked back on as another "golden" period for home video so enjoy it while it's happening. These titles will surely not be "in print" forever.
