Customer Reviews:
Bad storytelling, but plenty of action.......2007-06-06
Bruce Li stars as an undercover agent who is looking to take down a major crime boss played by actor Paul Smith. After the characters keep on doublecrossing eachother the entire movie, it all leads to a huge throwdown at the end. Angela Mao Ying (Bruce Lee's sister in Enter the Dragon), Wong Wing Sang (Yoga master in Master of the Flying Guillotine), and Blacky Ko (Thai kickboxer in Return of the Chinese Boxer (Dub)) have good fighting roles and the cast is definitely the brightest spot in the movie.
While the movie is not good, some of the action is very well choreographed. The best scene is in Lung Fei's karate school. Wong Chi Sang and others go at it hard! Then the last 18 minutes is non-stop action with Paul Smith taking on Lung Fei, Chang Yi, Bruce Li and others. Paul Smith's punches look really weak, but his action scenes are still a ton of fun. Highly recommended to those who love quality kung fu movies that don't try to bore you with a deep story.
2.5/5
DVD from Trinity Home Entertainment has pretty good picture quality and the English dubbing is good.
A Supposed Sequel To "Exit The Dragon..." But..........2007-02-08
Having done a little research on this film, I've found that this was promoted as a sequel to Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger. Like Exit the Dragon...we have Bruce Li tangling with the underworld(only this time he has the assistance of Angela Mao Ying from Lady Worldwind, Enter the Dragon, etc). The action is there, the crime element is there, and once again we have Bruce Li in another one of his best performances(those in which he's NOT attempting to succeed or emulate Bruce Lee), the only problem is, this is another film altogether, new characters, new everything...nothing to do with Exit the Dragon at all. Another shortcoming is the fact that his duel with the "western" crime boss wasn't realistic enough for my tastes, given Bruce Li's martial artistic limitations in comparison to Bruce Lee. Not taking anything away from Bruce Li's fighting ability...I just don't see him holding his own against a possibly 6 or 7 foot, 300-400 lb monster of a man with superhuman strength. That showdown was right out of a comic book. But the movie's still a keeper. Only for the die hard Bruceploitation fans though, particular those of Bruce Li.
