This 3 star movie gets a 4 from me.......2006-08-13

Now if you have never heard of Chen Shan, aka Chang Shan, then let me let you into my world. This is the one guy that I have always believed to be superior to Bruce Lee on screen. Hwang Jang Lee and a couple of others come close but Chen Shan is the only one that I could even consider on the same level. That being said I now have to give you the bad news. I know of 6 movies including this one that he is in. Now I am not new to these movies. I have been a follower for MANY years and have only been able to find 3 movies since I began searching about 3-4 years ago. Well it has all been worth it, I think I just found Chen Shan's first performance! How excited I was when I saw his face on screen can only be described by a high impact leg kick. He plays kind of the same old tired Manchu evil guy but the story is new and oh so refreshing.

The king of cooks I guess created this style of cooking kung fu a long time ago. He used to be the personal cook of the emporer. So the cook has a grandson and revenge will take place, blah blah blah. It does have the same storyline as most but the whole cooking aspect makes this really original. Get ready for some really good training sequences and a very good directorial job so we can tie everything togethter at the end.

Of course though the reason to watch this movie is for the great Chen Shan. I feel really weird knowing that it may be the last moivie I will ever see him in. If anybody knows of any movies he is in please tell me! I will do anythihg for you. But sadly all good things really do have to come to an end. Now let me list you all of his movies for the last time and if ANYBODY can add just one name to it, I will be very very grateful.

SEVEN STEPS OF KUNG FU-just like Cooks and Kung Fu, it will take you a little while to spot him.

NINJA HUNTER-great cheese movie, great perforamnce by Chen Shan

FIVE FIGHTERS OF SHAOLIN-this and Ninja Hunter are his 2 worst perforances but still better than 99% of anyone else. Buy this one to check him out with no mustache!

And oh yeah, the kung fu is VERY good in this movie and like I said the story is well done and somewhat interesting. Only a 3 star movie, but 4 stars to any movie that my favorite star performs well in. Like it's possible for him not to perform well, lol.

Description
