Description
U2's PopMart Live from Mexico City is released on DVD for the first time on September 18th in two formats, a Special Limited Edition 2-DVD Deluxe Packaging version and a single disc, Standard version. Described as a sci-fi disco supermarket, the PopMart Tour opened in its "spiritual home", Las Vegas on April 25, 1997. All trash and kitsch, PopMart introduced a giant mirrorball lemon, a 100 foot cocktail stick - complete with olive, and the works of Lichtenstein, Warhol and Haring, to a live rock audience: a production experience never quite seen before. Filmed at the Foro Sol Autodromo in Mexico City on December 3, 1997, PopMart Live from Mexico City was directed by David Mallet and first released on video the following year. Both the video and audio have been digitally remastered and the DVD includes a brand new 5.1 surround mix in DTS and Dolby Digital of the concert. The single disc, Standard version will contain only the concert material and the Special Limited Edition 2-DVD version will feature on the 2nd bonus disc, nine previously unreleased live audio and video tracks, four documentaries, a PopMart tour visuals montage, and DVD-ROM extras.

A Beautiful Lemon (YUM!).......2007-09-14
The huge screen behind them with the racing comic book imagery gives me a headache after watching more than two songs, but an extraordinary tour from an extradinary band. You know you're a great rock band when what you considered your worst failures are still spectacularly awesome and loved by millions! Rock on, boys!
I was in this concert.......2007-09-13
I was in this concert, I was only 20 years old and I remember that in many radio segments saids that U2 didn't going to play that day because they had a sereius problem one day before with the son of the president of Mexico, but they didn't cancel the concert and played one of the best concert on they history.
This DVD really doesn't have price
U2 Live at their Best.......2007-09-12
Great show live. Any U2 show live is a great one but don't miss this. This album and tour was amazing. Listen to PLEASE and it is hauntingly reminiscent of 9-11's tragic events. The songs are more serious than the production with a huge arch, mirrorball lemon, the tinyt nun that has since disappeared, towering screens, an olive....Hard to beleive this all took place 10 years ago. Nice to re-live a concert that truly rocked my world. No disappointments here.
A Must-Have for U2 Fans.......2007-09-01
There are so many reasons to recommend this--I can't believe it's finally on DVD!
The Pop Mart tour and album was incorrectly derided by some critics--and even the band apparently--as a failed experiment. Wrong. That album was some of their coolest music ever, and the tour, while it started rough, by the time of this show is just monster (no pun intended). This BTW was the largest video screen every constructed; after the tour it was sold off in pieces to sports stadiums and the like.
Granted, it you don't like the "ironic" U2 and songs like "Discoteque" you'll probably hate the "lemon" part which is totally Spinal Tap (although that was sort of the point though). Too bad, because right after that song they do THE definitive version of "If You Wear That Velvet Dress," which far surpasses the recorded version.
The show opens with a seamless segue from "Pop Music" on the P.A. into "Mofo." "Mofo" was an interesting, if not fully realized track from the album but here it absolutely kills in a different arrangement. Just like "Elevation" live blows away the recorded version, so it goes with "Mofo."
The sound's great, the band's tight, the crowd is absolutely bonkers. For videos I rank it up there with Live from Sydney (Zoo TV) as their best.
Sure by this point, after Zoo TV, U2 fans had pretty much had enough of the "irony" phase and thankfully they moved on.
LOVE FOR U2.......2007-08-24
THIS CONCERT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE GREATEST PRODUCTIONS EVER...
A MUST FOR EVERY U2 FAN AND FOR ANY FAN OF REAL MUSIC!!

Adolescence is an emotionally stormy time for kids, but it's especially so for Shane (Josh Hutcherson), a teenager being raised by single firefighter father Connor (Bruce Greenwood). Add the recent death of Shane's fire-captain uncle (Connor's brother) in the line of duty and the pending closure of their neighborhood "Dogpatch" fire station, and both Shane's propensity for skipping school and brooding in his room and his father's obsession with work seem easily explainable. When a mutt called Dewey, really a very spoiled superstar dog named Rexxx who's been presumed dead after a parachuting stunt gone wrong, turns up in a burning building and is rescued by the Dogpatch crew, Connor puts Shane in charge of caring for the dog and finding its owner. Shane and Dewey clash immediately and Shane is extremely resentful toward both the dog and his father. However, Dewey's special talents (like skateboarding and trampoline jumping), combined with his good fire-fighting instincts, soon win the admiration and affection of Shane and the entire Dogpatch crew. A series of mysterious fires causes Shane and Connor to begin to really communicate and reconnect, but those fires also threaten their very lives. At the same time, Dewey's former owner discovers Dewey's true identity and demands the return of his superstar companion. An engaging dog story that explores the difficulties of growing up and dealing with personal tragedy, Firehouse Dog is a fun family film that's rated PG due to some mildly crude humor (think potty jokes), language, and action peril. --Tami Horiuchi

Pretty good movie-I would not take real young children to it though...........2007-09-12
Director: Todd Holland.
Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Bruce Greenwood, Steven Culp, Bill Nunn.
Old-fashioned family film - which is a good and a bad thing. Good in that it's a wholesome, good-natured kids movie; bad in that the kids are used to something much more these days.
When Rex becomes the firehouse mascot, it keeps the fire fighters' morale high as their station is threatened with closure. Okay, so it might rely on canine bodily function gags to get most of the laughs (Rex snores, farts, burps and poos in the stew), but Firehouse Dog is not entirely a comedy. There's a sizable subplot that deals with mysterious arson.
Hot Mutt.......2007-09-02
This is a good old fashioned family movie about a boy and a dog, and of course, like all shaggy dog tales, the mutt is the star. Celebrity dog Rexxx (note the x's) chucks in his glamorous poodle-filled life to become a firehouse dog, the only fringe benefits being that he can chase the fire-engine and investigate a lot of hydrants.
He adopts a young boy named Shane, who is rather unwilling at first, but after some aerial acrobatics, a few search and rescues and a lot of canine flatulence, Shane finally gets around to appreciating Rexxx, even though he mistakenly believes his name to be Dewey. "Dewey" soon rises to the rank of mascot, and is duly appreciated by the humans, especially the inhabitants of the Dogpatch Fire Station, who although friendly enough, don't seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed.
There are two other stories filling out the movie, one being the relationship between Shane and his firefighter father, and the other being the mystery of the curiously contagious conflagrations in the Dogpatch area.
Corny and cheesy in places, but never whiny, this is a movie you can watch with small kids (your teenagers may be otherwise occupied), but as you will see, the star of this movie is undoubtedly the hot mutt.

Firehouse Dog (The Irish Terrier "Dare Devil").......2007-09-02
This is a great family movie about an irish terrier. Also, I own an irish terrier, and they are beautiful dogs, but need a lot of training initially, as they have a mind of their own. PLEASE do not buy one of these dogs because they are cute, unless you are willing to give it a LIFETIME committment.
Fire;house Dog.......2007-09-01
One of the best Family films I have seen. You don't see many fit to watch anymore, but this one is tops
Firehouse Dog.......2007-08-26
It's a very good movie. A movie the family can watch together. I enjoyed it just as much as my grandkids. A Dad, a Son, a dog with a little humor and a little drama. What more do you need.

Maybe it doesn't quite live up to its sterling reputation, and maybe the leading man and director were slightly miscast. But who cares? Roman Holiday is the film that brought Audrey Hepburn to prominence, and the world movie audience went weak at the knees. The endlessly charming Hepburn had her first starring role in this sweet romance, playing a European princess on an official tour through Rome. Frustrated by her lack of connection to the real world, she slips away from her protective handlers and goes on a spree, aided by a tough-guy news reporter (Gregory Peck). Director William Wyler, more at home with such heavy-going, Oscar-winning classics as The Best Years of Our Lives and Ben- Hur, doesn't always keep the champagne bubbles afloat, and the Peck role would have fit Cary Grant like a silk glove. But the film is great fun, the location shooting is irresistible, and Hepburn embodies an image of chic style that would rule for the rest of the fifties. No coincidence: she won an Oscar, and so did veteran costume designer Edith Head. --Robert Horton

My All-Time Favorite Movie.......2007-09-06
I have watched this movie at least a dozen times and it still never fails to enchant me. This may not be the best love movie of all but it is definitely one of the greatest and most enduring!
Audrey really looked fresh on the screen, Roman Holiday being her debut American film. Gregory Peck was really good as the newspaper guy contrary to what others think that he was a miscast. Regarding the ending, I admit I was really upset when I first watched it, but then I thought it was really the perfect ending. I would not have loved it so otherwise.
I recommend this to everyone who loves classic love stories and realistic endings!
The past is not always as we remember it.......2007-08-28
My wife and I recently visited Italy, including several days in Rome. We thought watching this old movie (and Three Coins in a Fountain reviewed elsewhere) would be a pleasant way to relive some of the visit. My mother-in-law watched with us. Of the three of us, I was the only one who wanted to watch the whole movie (but I am a die-hard fan of old movies, generally of a different sort). It has not aged well. We were disapponted in the sparsity of scenes of Rome, that being our main reason for watching it. The story line was implausable in the 1950s and more so today, but the acting was okay, the storyline sufficient to keep my attention (if not that of my wife or mother-in-law) and I've always enjoyed Gregory Peck and Audrie Hepburn.
I remember being dragged to this movie as a young boy by my mother who could not get anyone else in the family to go with her. I was too young to protest successfully. Now that I am in my 60s, I think my earlier reluctance was not misplaced. However, it is harmless and pleasant enough in its own way and has an 1950s mildly uplifting theme. I can imagine a more modern treatment of this theme (princess wants to escape her life in the eye of the media and royal obligations and experience the common life for a while, then has to make a choice between "true love" and family/state obligations), but I doubt I would want to watch that either.
Delightful.......2007-08-02
What an amazing delight!
I think Audrey Hepburn is sensational but I had never seen this film. My husband who had suffered through years and years of romantic movies on Saturday afternoons at the Capitol with his mother started off hostile and set to be dismissive. Well within minutes we were bewitched, charmed and delighted. Audrey Hepburn was so fresh and unselfconscious - it was as if she had forgotten the cameras were there and she was just having fun with these great grownups. There is one scene where her laughter is as thrilling and unconditional as a child's - lovely and poignant.
And Rome, that other character in the film! Well I found myself thinking - this movie was made in 1953 - that is well over a century ago and I know that the past is a foreign country and all that but this was as good as a holiday in Rome and in the past.
A good classic.......2007-07-24
The quality of this movie was great. It's a movie that spans time and is great for all generations.
like a tour guide.......2007-05-30
This is a classic film anD while watching it is like having a tour of Rome, all the sights and famous monuments . If you have ever been to Rome it brings back all the memories of your own Roman Holiday.

You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy Galaxy Quest, but it certainly helps. A knowingly affectionate tribute to Trek and any other science fiction TV series of the 1960s and beyond, this crowd-pleasing comedy offers in-jokes at warp speed, hitting the bull's-eye for anyone who knows that (1) the starship captain always removes his shirt to display his manly physique; (2) any crew member not in the regular cast is dead meat; and (3) the heroes always stop the doomsday clock with one second to spare. So it is with Commander Taggart (Tim Allen) and the stalwart crew of the NSEA Protector, whose intergalactic exploits on TV have now been reduced to a dreary cycle of fan conventions and promotional appearances. That's when the Thermians arrive, begging to be saved from Sarris, the reptilian villain who threatens to destroy their home planet.
Can actors rise to the challenge and play their roles for real? The Thermians are counting on it, having studied the "historical documents" of the Galaxy Quest TV show, and their hero worship (not to mention their taste for Monte Cristo sandwiches) is ultimately proven worthy, with the help of some Galaxy geeks on planet Earth. And while Galaxy Quest serves up great special effects and impressive Stan Winston creatures, director Dean Parisot (Home Fries) is never condescending, lending warm acceptance to this gentle send-up of sci-fi TV and the phenomenon of fandom. Best of all is the splendid cast, including Sigourney Weaver as buxom blonde Gwen DeMarco; Alan Rickman as frustrated thespian Alexander Dane; Tony Shalhoub as dimwit Fred Kwan; Daryl Mitchell as former child-star Tommy Webber; and Enrico Colantoni as Thermian leader Mathesar, whose sing-song voice is a comedic coup de grâce. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
Never give up, never surrender!.......2007-08-24
This is the best satire comedy on the market, making fun of the old Star Trek show and all the conventions and Trekkies that followed the show.
The aging actors of the Galaxy Quest show still attend conventions, signing autographs for money, and no other acting career left because of the previous popularity of their show. Commander Peter Quincy Taggert is just Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen), a has been actor with a big ego. He's in dutch with his fellow cast members for taking side jobs without them. At a convention, Jason runs into the Thermians, who request his help to negotiate with Sarris, the general of an evil reptilian race. Jason believes they are simply fans, and has no idea that the Thermians are true aliens who have modeled their lives, and their ship, after watching transmissions of the show. The Thermians believe the show is historical documents, not old reruns of entertainment television.
After discovering the Thermians are real, Jason convinces his crew to come with him into space. The Thermians put the crew in charge, not knowing they are just actors. What follows is a hilarious romp through space with 'B' grade actors fleeing Sarris's revenge while trying to save the Thermians. All of the cheesiest aspects of the old Star Trek shows are brought back to comedic life. ("Look around you, can you construct some sort of rudimentary lathe?")
Stealing the show is Sigourney Weaver as Gwen DeMarco ("I have one job on this lousy ship, it's stupid, but I'm going to do it!"), Alan Rickman as Alexander Dane, Tony Shalhoub as Fred Kwan (a laid-back, stoner type), and relatively unknown Sam Rockwell as Guy Fleegman (the expendable crewman). Their comedic performances are absolutely top notch in this film, and there's a lot more humor hidden in it than just a first time watch can capture. It's a movie to watch over and over again.
Whether you love or hate the old Star Trek shows, as long as you love excellent satirical comedy, you will definitely enjoy this movie. 10 Stars! Well worth a purchase.
absolutely hilarious.......2007-08-18
Even people who aren't Trekkies get the jokes in this movie. If you are, it is one of the funniest movies ever made.
A very pleasant surprise!.......2007-07-14
I vaguely recall hearing about this film, and I don't even remember what it was I heard. All I know is I had no desire to see it because Mars Attacks! kept coming into my head, and I hated that film.
In 2006, on a Chrismtas flight back home, I happened to look up at the monitors from time to time and caught a few bits and pieces of the film while listening to my MP3 music. Without sound, the film seemed stupid, the villain seemed corny and the acting looked horrible. The only thing that kept my attention was wondering if the blonde was actually Sigourney or just a younger look-alike. Hey, the in-flight monitors are small! Bottom line is, I never realized the film was mainly a comedy.
Flash ahead four months when I was moving into a new place and a friend had given me the Galaxy Quest DVD as a house-warming present. I hooked up the home theater system first thing so I could get some activity going in the new place, and I took a break and watched a little of Galaxy Quest - and the rest is history. I instantly loved it and have watched it more times than I care to admit.
For all the reasons and more that many of the previous reviewers enjoyed this film, I do, as well.
It's a solid story with great acting and writing, terrific spoofs, excellent special effects, and is tremendously pure and funny. Move over, Spaceballs, there's a new kid on the block! Without a doubt, the single-best sci-fi comedy ever created! And the drama is good, too. It's a great combination of everything, which is why it's so entertaining and can be watched countless times. Can't believe as an avid sci-fi moviegoer that I somehow neglected to find this gem sooner.
Other sci-fi flicks I enjoy include: Alien, MIB, Evolution, Deep Rising, Zathura, Explorers, Bi-Centennial Man, iRobot, H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, King Kong (2005), Jurassic Park 3, Cube Zero.
Sci-fi flicks I don't like include: Star Wars series, Harry Potter series, LOTR series,
Loved It........2007-05-24
This was just plain outright funny. Pokes fun at the Trekkies out there. Tim Allen is super as is Sigourny Weaver. Two thumbs up.
Excellent Star Trek Spoof.......2007-05-16
Tim Allen mocking Captain Kirk, Sigourney Weaver repeating everything the ship's computer says, classic. Bored, bitter and alcoholic from touring the conventions, the washed up has beens are suddenly beamed onto a ship modeled on their TV series and expected to defeat a formidable foe. The problem is -- even though their hosts expect them to know how to do everything (after all, they did on the show) -- they initially can't even perform basic tasks. This is a silly movie, but if you liked Star Trek and can handle some silliness, this is among the best you can get.

The spirit of Motown runs through the long-awaited film adaption of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, which centers around a young female singing trio who burst upon the music scene in the '60s, complete with bouffant hairdos, glitzy gowns, and a soul sound new to the white-bread American music charts. Sound familiar? You aren't the first one to draw comparisons to the meteoric rise of the Supremes, and despite any protests to the contrary, this is most definitely a thinly veiled reinterpretation of that success story. The Dreamettes--statuesque Deena (Beyonce Knowles), daffy Lorell (Anika Noni Rose) and brassy Effie (Jennifer Hudson)--are a girl group making the talent-show rounds when they're discovered by car salesman and aspiring music manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx). Sensing greatness (as well as a new marketing opportunity) Curtis signs the Dreamettes as backup singers for R&B star James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy). But when Early's mercurial ways and singing style don't mesh with primarily white audiences, Curtis moves the newly-renamed Dreams to center stage--with Deena as lead singer in place of Effie. And that's not the only arena in which Effie is replaced, as Curtis abandons their love affair for a relationship with star-in-the-making Deena.
Besides the Supremes comparison, one can't talk about Dreamgirls now without revisiting its notorious Oscar snub; though it received eight nominations, the most for any film from 2006, it was shut out of the Best Picture and Director races entirely. Was the oversight justified? While Dreamgirls is certainly a handsomely mounted, lovingly executed and often vibrant film adaptation, it inspires more respect than passion, only getting under your skin during the musical numbers, which become more sporadic as the film goes on. Writer-director Bill Condon is definitely focused on recreating the Motown milieu (down to uncanny photographs of Knowles in full Diana Ross mode), he often forgets to flesh out his characters, who even on the Broadway stage were underwritten and relied on powerhouse performances to sell them to audiences. (Stage fans will also note that numerous songs are either truncated or dropped entirely from the film.) Condon has assembled a game cast, as Knowles does a canny riff on the essence of Diana Ross' glamour (as opposed to an all-out impersonation) and Rose makes a peripheral character surprisingly vibrant; only Foxx, who never gets to pour on the charisma, is miscast. Still, there are two things even the most cranky viewers will warm to in Dreamgirls: the performances of veteran Eddie Murphy and newcomer Jennifer Hudson. Murphy is all sly charm and dazzling energy as the devilish Early, who's part James Brown, part Little Richard, and all showman. And Hudson, an American Idol contestant who didn't even make the top three, makes an impressive debut as the larger-than-life Effie, whose voice matches her passions and stubbornness. Though she sometimes may seem too young for the role, Hudson nails the movie's signature song, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," with a breathtaking power that must be seen and heard to believe. And for those five minutes, if not more, you will be in Dreamgirls' thrall. --Mark Englehart

Product Description
Director Bill Condon brings Tom Eyen's Tony award-winning Broadway musical to the big screen in a tale of dreams, stardom, and the high cost of success in the cutthroat recording industry. The time is the 1960s, and singers Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose), and Deena (Beyoncé Knowles) are about to find out just what it's like to have their wildest dreams come true. Discovered at a local talent show by ambitious manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx), the trio known as "the Dreamettes" is soon offered the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of opening for popular singer James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy). Subsequently molded into an unstoppable hit machine by Taylor and propelled into the spotlight as "the Dreams," the girls quickly find their bid for the big time taking priority over personal friendship as Taylor edges out the ultra-talented Effie so that the more beautiful Deena can become the face of the group. Now, as the crossover act continues to dominate the airwaves, the small-town girls with big-city dreams slowly begin to realize that the true cost of fame may be higher than any of them ever anticipated.

Repetitious. I lasted one hour watching this before I left the room. My spouse was able to watch it to the end and enjoy the story underneath.
I gave Moulin Rouge one star, partly because of the shrill grating voices. At least Dream Girls has more natural voices. And it was fun to see how different performers of the era were represented by these fictional characters. And there was at least one educational piece of historical information: Elvis was not the original singer for Hound Dog. It was Big Mama Thornton, but her version was suppressed by mainstream white radio.
Fabulous movie.......2007-09-06
I loved seeing Dreamgirls in the movie theater and love having my own copy of the movie. I have watched it several times, lent it out to friends and everyone has enjoyed it. The music is great and the performances are terrific. Love, love, love.
I am tellin'you that DREAMGIRLS is a one hit wonder!.......2007-08-31
Sorry to report this, but this movie, which was one of the most over-hyped films in recent memory, was so far below the original Broadway production that it is a shame to mention it in the same breath. Now mind you, I saw the stage play twice hoping that each time I might like it better, but that did not happen. The original show has very little plot as you bounce from one song to the next. The film, on the other hand, adds so much unnecessary extra material that the film gets really draggy. The new songs added do nothing to push any plot forward, and apart from "I am Tellin' You" this show is a one hit wonder!Apart from that, this film or the show has little to recommend to anyone except those who want to hear screeching with unintelligible words! This film is all splash and no substance.
One note of praise: I thought that Eddie Murphy did a magnificent job with his role (and I do not personally care for him as a person, comedian or actor).
Hudson getting a Globe and an Oscar was ludicrous.

Amazon.com essential video
They don't really make many romantic comedies like Notting Hill anymore--blissfully romantic, sincerely sweet, and not grounded in any reality whatsoever. Pure fairy tale, and with a huge debt to Roman Holiday, Notting Hill ponders what would happen if a beautiful, world-famous person were to suddenly drop into your life unannounced and promptly fall in love with you. That's the crux of the situation for William Thacker (Hugh Grant), who owns a travel bookshop in London's fashionable Notting Hill district. Hopelessly ordinary (well, as ordinary as you can be when you're Hugh Grant), William is going about his life when renowned movie star Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) walks into his bookstore and into his heart. After another contrived meet-cute involving spilled orange juice, William and Anna share a spontaneous kiss (big suspension of disbelief required here), and soon both are smitten. The question is, of course, can William and Anna reconcile his decidedly commonplace bookseller existence and her lifestyle as a jet-setting, paparazzi-stalked celebrity? (Take a wild guess at the answer.) Smartly scripted by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral) and directed by Roger Michell (Persuasion), Notting Hill is hardly realistic, but as wish fulfillment and a romantic comedy, it's irresistible. True, Roberts doesn't really have to stretch very far to play a big-time actress who makes $15 million per movie, but she's more winning and relaxed than she's been in years, and Grant is sweetly understated as a man blindsided by love. Together, in moments of quiet, they're a charming couple, and you can feel her craving for real love and his awe and amazement at the wonderful person for whom he has fallen. The only blight on the film is its overbearing pop soundtrack, though Elvis Costello's heart-wrenching version of "She" gets poignant exposure. With Rhys Ifans as Grant's scene-stealing, slovenly housemate and Alec Baldwin in a sly, perfectly cast cameo. --Mark Englehart

Yuck.......2007-07-31
Personally I thought this was a boring film with phoned-in performances by both Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, and what little plot there was had no suspense or mystery or charm whatever and the entire project lacked the style usually found in Richard Curtis' work. Even a strong supporting cast that included Gina McKee was not much of a boost. I usually go for these sorts of movies but this is one Britcom (very little "com" to it, by the way) I didn't enjoy.
Romantic Comedy - Hugh Grant.......2007-07-23
I enjoy happy endings and romantic comedies. Not a thought provoking movie, but a good one when one is in the mood for a good chick flick. Plus Hugh Grant is eye candy...
classic romantic comedy.......2007-05-13
Notting Hill is a modern single man's fairy tale and I don't mean that in a bad way. Julie Roberts never looked better, Hugh Grant is his charming best, the supporting cast are all likeable. The story is believeable and beautifully directed. If your like romantic comedies or are just looking to watch a good movie that you will walk away from feeling good then "Notting Hill" is the movie for you.
Love Conquers All in Notting Hill.......2007-05-10
This is a charming movie that I've seen several times and will probably see again. It's an upbeat, miracles happen, "celebrities are people too" kind of movie.
Boy meets girl, girl says "NO", then changes her mind. And keeps changing it. Anyone who has said "No", when his/her heart was yelling, "Yes Yes Yes ", can relate to this movie a lot.
One of the aspects that I found so interesting was the rigidly controlled structure under which Anna was required to live her life. And how relentlessly she had to smile, regardless of how she was feeling. It must be tough to have to be "on" so much of the time. NOTTING HILL gave us a window into the world in which celebrities live and some of the challenges they face.
This is a heartwarming, funny movie starring 2 talented actors playing 2 really likable characters. I have a weakness for movies with American/British romantic pairings, since Americans and Brits are culturally so different; in this movie, the plot is sweetened with the added romantic complication of wealthy/famous and not so wealthy or famous. It's a heartwarming rollicking ride !
I highly recommend Notting Hill.
"Surreal, But Nice": Pleasant Romantic Comedy from Richard Curtis.......2007-04-18
Of course in real life this would not happen, at least not to me. William, owner of a small bookshop in Notting Hill, not only falls in love with a Hollywood star Anna Scott (played by Julia Roberts who is virtually playing herself), but also he really begins to go out with her. Can an ordinary guy be the true love of the star whose face covers magazines every week? Here is a one story, delightfully romantic and told with humor, about the possibility of such a romance. The story sounds implausible, but still a very good one.
Despite some incredible situations, the chemistry between the two leads makes us forget them temporarily, and their romance is enchanting (and a bit predictable) to the end. In addition to Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant (and their undeniable star power), the film is supported by gifted actors playing colorful characters; they are Gina McKee, James Dreyfus, Emma Chambers and inimitable Rhys Ifans as Spike, the most unusual lodger in London. Amusing cameos of Alec Baldwin, Matthew Modine and young Mischa Barton as child actor (like she was then) shoud not be missed.
Pleasant romantic comedy "Notting Hill" is written by Richard Curtis, whose works before this one include equally romantic "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and less successful "The Tall Guy," both of which are based on the American-in-London situations. His script of "Notting Hill" is always witty, giving us some sly comments on human relations and film industry. (In fact, I am using it as the text for my English class in Japan.)
Some people may say this is not real Notting Hill (you don't see Notting Hill Carnival, for example) and probably they are right because, as I said, in real London this would not happen. It belongs to the ever-overcrowding genre of romantic comedy where romance means a lot, and in this respect "Notting Hill" is a success.

Hate it.......2007-09-06
Moves too fast and the overly perfect bodies of the class aren't inspiring, more dishartening. And the constant counting is annoying.
Fun workout!.......2007-08-30
This workout is fun to do. If you're like me and cannot use the resistance bands or amplifier bar in the other workout becasue it strains your neck or shoulders, this is definitely the workout for you. It is not hard cardio like Get Ripped Advanced but you do get a good workout and you do sweat. With regular use you will definitely see results.
Awesome workout.......2007-08-17
This is a really fast paced great workout. It's challenging and its fast so you dont even have time to think about how tired you are!
Not really cardio.......2007-08-03
Having used several of Billy Blanks DVDs for working out, I found that this one was by far the worst. Besides the strange moves and not-so-great instruction, it failed to get my heart rate up at all. Also, it was pretty short (only 40 minutes). If you are looking for a better tae-bo video, I would suggest the Tae-Bo get ripped series. I regularly use these and feel like I get a good overall workout from them.
Wow.......2007-07-31
I can see that my opinion of this Tae Bo video is quite different from the other reviewers. I'm a die-hard Tae Bo fan, but this one just didn't cut it. Billy slows down way too often, then only has short bursts of true cardio. Some of the moves were awkward, and there was far too much punching. This gets three stars because it IS still Tae Bo, but there are far better Billy Blanks workouts out there.

What Was Warner/MGM Thinking?!?!?.......2007-09-14
First of all, the reason I bought this set was to have both versions (1970 & 2001) on DVD and while I love both versions (except for the deleted songs from the special edition), my real gripe is the bonus footage and the sound on the 1970 version of TTWII---it's in MONO!! WHY?!?
The sound on the bonus footage is HORRIBLE and the "bonus" footage sucks because it looks to be a third or fourth generation copy....an amateur could have done better editing and mixing these DVDs!!
Either way, they'll both still get lots of playing time in my DVD player...although I'll skip the "extras".
Elvis in Vegas.......2007-09-11
Thats The Way It Is was one of my favorites. The speciel disc was great and Elvis never looked better. He actually went out in the audience during the performances in vegas, it was great to see.....
Elvis at his best!.......2007-09-04
Elvis fan or not, you can't help but get caught up in this candid and true film of the legend.
A comment on Elvis - That's the Way It Is (Two-Disc Special Edition).......2007-09-03
The original was poorly edited but the idea was to show the fans and the event that was ELVIS more than Elvis himself. The Special Edition is FANtastic... the man and the music. This two-disc package is awesome because you get more footage and more songs to listen to, the only shame is that the original doesn't have re-mastered sound like the Special Edition, but the DVD quality footage is much better and for many fans it will be the first time they will see the original that clear. A highly recommended purchase for all music fans, it is the best Elvis ever looked during the concert years.
Elvis great - package poor.......2007-08-27
If you already have the previous special edition do not buy this. The first disc duplicates exactly that release. The 2nd disc whilst having a few interesting extras is the original release. This is poor quality as compared to the first disc, and duplicates the concert again (if you already own the previous special edition).
I'm afraid this is just a money making exercise to cash in on the 30th anniversary of his death.
Customer Reviews:
Great workout!.......2007-08-30
This workout is definitely one of my favourites. You have so much fun doing this workout, the music is fantastic and Billy and the team are also having a good time on this dvd. With regular use, you will definitely see results. This dvd reminds me of the Taebo Live series but a remixed version. There are no bands and no amplifier bar to use for all you taebo fans who are not interested in the taebo equipment and like doing taebo old school like myself. HAVE FUN!!!
Get Ready To Sweat.......2007-08-09
I absolutely love this workout. It is not for beginners, but if you have done any of the Tae-Bo Amped, you will have no problem. I have gotten one of the best workouts. I love Tae-Bo and this has been the perfect addition to my workout regimen.
Energetic Video.......2007-08-02
The Tae Bo system exercise ruting will make your body extremly ENERGETIC, FUN and with a good technics.
Billy Blanks Tae-Bo Get Celebrity Fit - Sculpt.......2007-07-10
I am an avid Billy Blanks follower and have pretty much all of this DVDS, this product was another excellent DVD hard core workout which makes you sweat. I ordered in June and it came in July in great condition. I would recommend this to others. There are plenty of kicks and some great new cardio-vascular exercises which are a little different to any of others DVDS. A great quick work out 44 minutes when you are a bit short on time.
Excellent DVD would recommend to anybody who enjoys working out to Billy Blanks.
Hard work.......2007-06-12
It may take awhile to get into the flow of this workout, but once you do it's a great program. Cardio, and strength building. A plus is the short amount of time it takes to "feel the burn". A very good bargain when compared to other DVDs.

After more than a decade of false starts and several potential directors, the popular Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical finally made it to the big screen with Alan Parker (The Commitments) at the helm and Madonna in the coveted title role of Argentina's first lady, Eva Perón. A triumph of production design, costuming, cinematography, and epic-scale pageantry, the film follows the rise of Eva Perón to the level of supreme social and political celebrity in the 1940s. Like Madonna, Perón was a material girl (she was only 33 when she died); she was instrumental in the political success of her husband, Juan Perón (Jonathan Pryce). But Eva was also a supremely tragic figure whose life was essentially hollow at its core despite the lavish benefits of her nearly goddess-like status. The film has a similar quality--it's visually astonishing but emotionally distant, and benefits greatly from the singing commentary of Ché (Antonia Banderas), who serves as a passionate chorus to guide the viewer through the elaborate parade of history. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:
Amazing Amazon.......2007-07-14
I wanted this product long time ago, finally I got it in my hands, I can't believe, Thanks a lot Amazon.
Savior in the Eyes of Argentina.......2007-05-01
Evita is a historically relevant musical about a woman named Evita Peron who, in the early twentieth century, rose to the top and became a significant influence to the people of Argentina. She started her life out on the lowest ranks of society, an outcast in her own right, she slowly rose her way up to become a national figure in the political spectrum. I thought it was a very well made movie with a great deal of historical accuracies incorporated into it. Madonna was an excellent choice for casting. This movie has an excellent entertainment value while also incorporating historical value into it!
Terrific musical.......2007-04-26
Evita is the best contemporary historical musical out there. Madonna shines in this film, as does Antonio Bandaraz. Anyone who doesn't appreciate Evita, obviously doesn't know their history.
My one complaint is that the DVD has NO extra features! There really is no point in purchasing the DVD over the VHS unless you want to be able to flip through the chapters or care about wide screen. I would have liked to see some director's commentary as well as an interview with Madonna. Some historical notes would have been nice too.
Original and flawed.......2007-04-18
Evita is not really a musical. It is an uneasy combination of tableau and opera. There is no spoken dialogue. It is worth seeing just for the great costumes and production values and the exquisite cinematography. Crowd scenes are well staged and exciting. There are also some great dance scenes. With powerful voices and a convincing star this could have been an extraordinary film. However, with the exception of Antonio Banderas, the singing is surprisingly thin and weak. Jonathan Pryce as Juan Peron gives a fine understated performance, but Madonna is miscast: past her prime and out of her depth. The first rule of acting is "look good on screen" and unfortunately she doesn't. Gaunt and sallow, with garish makeup and inexplicably bloodshot eyes, she cuts an unconvincing and depressing figure. As he did in Cats, Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote one great song and a whole lot of junk. Sequences of rock music here and there are jarring and anachronistic.
Great.......2007-04-16
I haven't heard the original cast recording so I can't compare this to it but, I think this is a very good movie/musical. Madonna and Antonio Banderas did a great job! The music is really good. This musical is not as good as The Phantom of the Opera but it is hard to be better than Phantom. You MUST see EVITA!
