Time - Efficient, Fun, and Challenging! .......2007-09-14

I have so many fitness DVD's I've lost count, but am in great shape with a combination of running, pilates, and strength training. Was in the need for something fresh, and this DVD set was perfect!!! I was skeptical that it would simply be cute girls doing lame exercises, but after reading the initial good reviews, I purchased the set. All I can say is that I am absolutely (but happily) shocked at how good the workouts are!!! The ABS workout is handsdown one of the best I have ever done. You will be feel the effects after just one workout, and your waistline will shrink with all the oblique work and and twists. Plus, only the last 5 minutes or so is on the floor, a welcome change to an ab routine! Also, the 5 minute workouts on each DVD are fast and effective when you don't have much time, or feel like doing a little bit of each.

Envy Girls Workout...Really Works!!.......2007-09-02

I was really excited when I received the Envy Girls workout, it's been a much better workout than I had ever expected. The first time I used the DVD set I used the Ab DVD and the Legs DVD and let me tell you, I was sore for nearly a week after!!

I bought this not expecting too much because I've never heard of the Envy Girls and thought it would be as stupid as The Girls Next Door Workout, which I couldn't stomach (Bridget has to be the dumbest thing, some people should just be seen and not heard!)and thought that was joke. I sold it the next day...
So I had low expectations with this one because female eye candy does nothing for me but I was mistaken, this is a great workout dvd set. I love how they're separated into 4 body parts so I can mix and match and the exercises themselves were unique and I got fast results with them.

Very worth the money for the set, highly recommended!

As a new mom, I recommend this video to any woman wanting to tighten up those "problem areas" caused by pregnancy! It's easy to do and really does give you the results it promises, and quick enough to fit it in between bottles and naps! I suggest combining this with HydroxyCut. The two combined has helped me lose 5 pounds just this week! One thing it doesn't tell you though: You also need weights and a yoga mat. I recommend 2lb. weights to start with, then move up to 5lbs. after 2 weeks or whenever you get used to it. Also, ankle weights will make it more challenging but aren't necessary.

Wow! Feeling great! Fast results!.......2007-07-02

This is a fun and challenging workout. My girlfriends and I love it, and especially love doing it in a group. You work out every part of the body during all of the exercises. Arms, shoulders, and back are worked during abs, legs, and buns, because almost all the exercises are done holding a 5 lb weight. I have dropped 10 pounds in a month doing this, the Women's Health Wedding Workout, Crunch Boot Camp, and the New York City Ballet Workout (great for lengthening and strengthening my new sylvette).

I am really feeling like an envy girl, and getting envious looks from other less motivated ladies. These workouts are pretty hard core, but fun, and though the girls in them are a little gaudy, their bods are not.

Have fun! And good luck! If you are working out hard at least 3 times a week, the results will come! Remember, if you want to maximize results, CUT OUT THE CARBS!

Envy is a funny movie, but it's more funny peculiar than funny ha-ha, so enjoyment is purely a matter of personal taste. When Nick (Jack Black) invents an aerosol spray that makes dog-poop disappear (think of the boon to society!), he reaps a fortune overnight and sends his friend, co-worker and neighbor Tim (Ben Stiller) into a tailspin of simmering envy, since he had no faith in Nick's get-rich-quick scheme and declined his offer of 50-50 partnership. What makes this potentially raucous plot peculiar is that it sets up the situation and proceeds to ignore its most comedic implications, opting instead for a sub-plot involving bows, arrows, a dead horse, and an eccentric vagrant (Christopher Walken, offering reliable comic relief) who coaches Tim on the joys of neighborly blackmail. All the while, Envy suffers a comedic identity crisis, giving Black and Stiller a few good laughs (along with their on-screen wives, played by Rachel Weisz and Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler) while director Barry Levinson struggles to reach a quirky balance of morality play and blue-collar farce. This movie wasn't that bad. It was a decent movie, with some funny moments. It is well worth $5 at Wal-Mart, If your like me and are a fan of Jack Black and or Ben Stiller, then this is a must own for your collection.

I rented this movie one day without having known a single thing about the movie. I read no reviews and all I knew about the movie is who directed it. I like the director's films and the two people in it.

I personally enjoyed the movie and found it quite funny. Even laugh out loud funny. Yes, you read that right. I'm not an idiot and like all kinds of movies and am pretty picky. I have to admit I might have a weird sense of humour.

Anyway, this isn't much of a review. I saw the movie and liked it so much that I immediately rewatched it! That night I checked rotten tomatoes (Review site) and was shocked to find that the movie was totally rotten! I felt a little embarrassed that I liked the movie that much, but who cares!

All my friends hate the movie and think it's garbage. Probably 1/10 people would actually like the movie. Possibly. I just know that I loaned the movie to my mother and she loved it as well! No, we are not a family of idiots as you may be thinking! We also don't smoke drugs.

This is one of those movies I love that everyone else in the world seems to hate. I'm sure you'd had that happen before.

Could it have been worse?.......2007-01-14

One of the most awful films in years, or a cautionary tale ahead of its time? Consider the talent involved. They must have had a reason to invest so much in a story about a man who discovers a way to make dog do instantly disappear. Barry Levinson directed "The Natural" and "Rain Man" for goodness sake, why on earth would he do this? The film is tedious, loses steam after Ben Stiller shoots Jack Black's horse. They try to liven things with Christopher Walken as an old army guy who convinces Stiller he's everyman hero, like Che Guevara. Then when that doesn't work, Black conveniently decides to make him partner (why didn't he do this sooner?) This sets up Rachel Weisz for a dopey transformation to greedy, sex-crazy wife. Amy Poehler is funny as Black's wife who runs for congress. Her campaign is threatened by an opponent wondering where the do goes after it's vaporized. If this all sounds kind of lame it is. But the syrup on pants gag is funny at the beginning. There is clever satire in here somewhere. I know it. Look at all the talent involved. They had to have done it for more than a paycheck. We must be missing something. Soylent Green is people? Did you just call it "her?"

In my opinion, ENVY is everything you could want in a good-time madcap movie that had no budget for a screenwriter. How the heck do you waste the unrestrained hilarity that is Jack Black? You have to TRY to make this cat UNFUNNY. Well, kids, let's call this one "Mission Accomplished" and fly back to "Bad Movieland" where everything is rainbows and sun showers and you keep greenlighting movies because somebody is a friend of the studio head despite the fact the there isn't a single redeeming quality to this pitch and/or screenplay. Keep the hacks to computer programming, not screenwriting.

slow, tame, 1970s flick.......2005-03-15

Though filmed in the late 1970s, this was made in Technicolor. It has the look of "Bewitched," "I Dream of Jeannie," or Marilyn Monroe films. There are few words here. That detail was possibly inspired by classic French films. Still, any bilingual person walking down the street could have written the subtitles for this film. However, the subtitles have no apostrophes in their translations. So everything is cant, dont, or wouldnt. Additionally, the film moves very slowly.

Characters' looks are blatant signifiers of their personae. In a different country and more than a decade before the Rodney King incident, police are made to look bad here. They are the old, fat characters who are racist and domineering to boot. Of the two main male characters, the hairier one is obviously "the bad guy," though both men are equally, and deliciously, muscular. This movie is very light on sexual content. So that fact that the title and the ingénue role is called "Erotica" is shocking, especially given that the film takes place in a conservative, highly religious country. Like most (heteropatriarchal) films, there is female nudity, but no male nudity. In fact, the viewer can almost guess that the female nudity is the sole reason for the film to be made.

Rober McKee Irwin has written that much of Mexican, canonical fiction depends on the relationships between different men, as opposed to the usual ideas of important dyads based on heterosexuality, class-blending, or miscegenation. He basically states that much of Eve Sedgwick's ideas apply to Mexican literature. Well, the same is true in this film. As much as the lead actress is featured, she is really just a prop in the background between two warring men. This is less of a bizarre love triangle and more of two men trafficking in women, as Gayle Rubin would say.
