The sun will never set on Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, The recording star from Philadelphia and the former Mouseketeer give a master class in chemistry in five Beach Party films that make up the bulk of this swinging eight-film box set. Beach Party (1963) helped to usher in a new wave of teen exploitation films that were far more fun and frolicsome than the rock and roll and juvenile delinquent films that preceded it. Frankie rents a beach house for himself and Annette's Dolores. He is stunned to learn that she has gotten cold feet and allowed the whole gang to hang out there. So Frankie decides to "dig somebody else," and Delores takes up with Robert Cummings, an anthropologist studying the sex lives of teens. All ends happily, and chastely. Harvey Lembeck, whose credits include Billy Wilder's Stalag 17, introduced his recurring series role as bumbling biker Eric Von Zipper. Surf guitar god Dick Dale provides accompaniment. Vincent Price pops up as Big Daddy to say, "Bring me my pendulum, kiddies. I feel like swinging." Beach Blanket Bingo (1965) is the magnum Party opus as Frankie goes sky-diving, Bonehead (Jody McCrea) falls in love with a mermaid, Linda Evans sings, Paul Lynde is snide, Don Rickles insults, and Frankie and Annette sing their classic, "I Think, You Think." Bikini Beach (1964) takes a swipe at the upstart Beatles with Frankie in a dual role as British pop star Potato Bug. Muscle Beach Party (1964) was Stevie Wonder's first film, and Peter Lorre's last.
How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965) marks the end of an era, with Frankie, off in the Naval Reserves, getting help from witch doctor Buster Keaton in keeping interloper Dwayne Hickman away from Annette. Annette's absence is keenly felt in Ski Party, but James Brown performs, "I Feel Good" and Lesley Gore sings her top-40 hit, "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows." Frankie and Annette were reunited at the racetrack in Fireball 500 (1966), but Fabian is a third wheel as a rival for Annette. Thunder Alley (1967) (from Richard Rush, director of the cult classic, The Stunt Man), is another car-racing vehicle that pairs Annette and Fabian, but by now the thrill is gone. Frankie and Annette are as indelible a screen couple and as inseparable in the public's imagination as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers or Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. What is the secret to their enduring appeal? The last line of Back to the Beach (1987), an unsung gem unfortunately not included in this set, sums it up. Frankie and Annette walk together along the beach for the last time. Frankie turns to the camera and asks, "Are we the corniest couple in the world, or what?" --Donald Liebenson

Frankie & Annette.......2007-09-16
Wonderful to revisit this series of fun, slap-stick fluff. Growing up in the 60's these films lent a bit of whimsy and frenetic fun to an otherwise turbulent decade
Frankie and Annette collection.......2007-08-27
I purchased this collection as a gift for a friend of mine, who is a huge fan of all those "beach party" movies. Being able to purchase the entire collection for her, and seeing her face when she opened it rates this purchase as a 5 star find! The price was very reasonable and delivery was super fast!
60's flashback.......2007-08-24
These were my altime favorite movies to watch as a kid growing up. I always watched them on the Million Dollar Movie or Saturday Afternoon Matinee etc. What's more fun than Annette, Frankie and VonZipper romping around. Good clean fun. What's funny is how I remember the guys looked so vintage back in the 80's & 90's, now they'd fit right in today stylewise. The girls have the big hair to overcome, lol. Classic stuff.
TV screen size.......2007-08-13
I was very disappointed to find the these are not the from the theater release verions, but the modified for TV versions.
frankie & annette.......2007-08-10
This was a birthday gift for my 27 year old daughter. I haven't watched it yet, so I can't really review it. She seemed excited about getting it, as she loves these old movies, but was disappointed to note that this grouping did not include her all-time favorite of the group, "Back to the Beach."
Customer Reviews:
lots of flesh.......2007-01-10
I purchased the movie because of Melinda Armstrong. I was not disappointed Melinda is out of sight even though the movie is a stinker.
They don't make them like this anymore.......2006-11-11
Sure, this is an awful movie, poor acting, thin plot, full of cliche's and poorly timed jokes, but it is a film of a genre that has really lost it's luster of the past 10 years. I remember this being one of the "UP ALL NIGHT" films on USA network as a teen. It was always 2 mintues of movie, then 5 minutes comercials to make it into the 2 hour time slot. Carefree nudity is present, and the sense of nastalgia makes this worth a watch through once, to laugh at how bad acting can be, and to remember the old days of softcore.
Bikini Summer.......2006-04-06
Whatever happened to the days when movies were chuck full of casual and carefree nudity? This totally brainless film is worth watching just for the memories of the good old days when casual non-erotic nudity was common place in films.
Actresses spent more on surgery than the studio on the DVD.......2004-07-30
The film is everything I remember from the VHS edition I saw in the early '90s. If you are a fan of this genre, you have probably seen this movie, and understand what made it special, namely, totally gratuitous nude scenes that last for minutes on end. It's often like an extended naked music video.
Lamentably, the DVD appears to have been mastered from a VHS copy, or something similar, because the picture is not nearly as clear or sharp as any standard mainstream DVD release. It's not unwatchable, but it is disappointingly dim. The three star rating is for the DVD, not the film, although, to be fair, if you were to judge this film on everything but the girls, it would be considered terrible.
Oh, Babes.......2003-11-22
Just to see the se girls moving their bodies from side to side, it's worth to spend your bucks. Really! I haven't seen so beautiful girls on movies from a long time ago, like in this film.

I bought the movies for my step-daughters surprise birthday party, she has wanted the movies for a while. I could not find them locally anywhere.
She was so excited to get them. She (we) have watched them over & over.
I am so glad that you had them for me to purchase.

Beach Movie.......2007-05-07
I loved being able to take a blast to the past, it would be great to have such fun. The movies were great and fun to watch. I can't wait to order more movies like this.
My copy is WIDESCREEN.......2007-04-02
I received my DVD the other day and watched both movies and enjoyed them very much. A few of the reviews here state "Wild Bikini" is full screen. My copy is WIDESCREEN as stated on the package. I don't know if they changed the format or what but BOTH of my movies are in widescreen as is shown on the dvd case.
Beach Blanket Bingo/ How to stuff a wild Bikini.......2007-03-16
Came in alittle after the rest of the order but in a decent time period. The movie was great. Fun to watch and very upbeat. Frankie Avalon is awesome.
Fun movies, incorrect labeling!.......2006-10-03
BEACH BLANKET BINGO is on one side of this DVD in Widescreen 2:35. HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI is on the other side, but is in Pan and Scan, not the 2:35 listed on the packaging. However, fear not! There is a single disc release of HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI which has Widescreen on one side, Pan and Scan on the other, and even though it's out of print, it shows up here at Amazon quite frequently. There is also a single disc edition of BEACH BLANKET BINGO, with P&S on one side and Widescreen on the other.

I couldn't find the movie locally.
My 11yr & 10yr stepdaughters LOVE these movies!
I enjoy watching them also (not all kids shows are "watchable" for grown-ups).
I am so glad that you have such a huge variety of classics!
I'll be purchasing "Gidget" for my girls' next, they'll love it!
Thank you
'Beach Party / Bikini Beach' (MGM) Running time - each film: 100 minutes.......2007-06-11
Two back-to-back early '60's family beach movies, that I personally thought holds the harsh test of time. Meaning of course they're still fun to watch. First, there's 1963's 'Beach Party' where professor Bob Cummings studies the 'mating ritual' of teenagers. I liked the one scene where teen icon Frankie Avalon croons to "Don't Stop Now" surrounded by several hotties, with {to my suprise, the house band turns out to be surf rock pioneer Dick Dale}. A somewhat humorous movie, specially with gangster wanna-be Eric Von Zipper (Harvey Lembeck), actually this clown was my favorite character in the entire flick. Avalon and Annette Funcello are needless to say great in these two classics. Then, there's 1964's 'Bikini Beach' where Frankie plays duo roles. Wait! Is that young Stevie Wonder making a guest appearance here? A bit dated, but still wroth checking out.
Beach Party/Bikini Beach.......2007-03-06
40 years late it was a fantastic experience te watch these films. Da Cat stands out of the other on Beach Party.Along with Gidget these films were decisive for the updating of the Azorean surf culture. Bikini Beach supplied us information on skateboarding and wake (locally named JET) surfing. They are part of the beach culture of the 60s.
still the "happening place to be".......2006-06-27
rememberwhen teen movies ment the beach bikini's and song instead of sex and grim killing or gross jokes. this double blast from the past is just as much fun now as they were when i was a kid watching these on t.v. and my boys even like them! kick back and watch frankie and annette surf the curel and sing and dance but not do anything dirty. a great family double feature! check them out!!!!!!!!
THIS MOVIE HELPED ME KEEP MY SANITY IN VIETNAM.......2006-06-02

Typical Crown International Picture.......2007-02-15
There are several movies from Crown Intl that have some of the same actors and also have the song "You're Gonna Find Love Someday".
They are "The Van", Malibu High", "Van Huys Blvd", "The Pom Pom Girls" and "Malibu Beach".
It's fun to go back in time to look at the fashions of the time, not to mention....they just don't make 'em like this anymore. (Thank goodness)
Still, lots of fun. If you like '70's airhead comedy, check out "The Cheerleaders"
"You punks gotta be kidding! I mean, you wanna mess with Dugan?!".......2005-10-14
Malibu Beach (1978)...this movie could have been called Van 2: Electric Boogaloo aka Van 2: Return of Dugan, as it shares a lot of similarities to the movie The Van (1977), which I watched the night before...both were released by Crown Pictures International "If it's Crown, You Can Bet it's Crap", both written by Celia Susan Cotelo and Robert J. Rosenthal (the latter also directing here), both featured a main protagonist character named Bobby (played by different actors), and both featured a main antagonistic character named Dugan, played by Stephen Oliver. Directed by Robert J. Rosenthal (Zapped!), the film stars Kim Lankford ("Knots Landing", The Octagon) and James `Greg Marmalard' Daughton, who would, in the same year, go on to appear in a little film know as Animal House (1978). Also appearing is Susan `She's a' Player (The Pom Pom Girls), Michael `Lex" Luther (The Verne Miller Story), Stephen Oliver (Werewolves on Wheels, Cycle Psycho, The Van), and Flora `I'm not Eve' Plumb, whose biggest claim to fame appears to be the fact she's the sister of Eve Plumb, also known as Jan Brady on TV's "The Brady Bunch".
As the movie begins a bell rings, and a throng of bell bottomed, feathered haired teenage types pour out of a high school. Apparently it's the beginning of summer break, and, if you live in Southern California aka SoCal, that means it's time to go to the beach, Malibu beach, that is (never mind the irregular shaped moles...what's a little melanoma in comparison to the perfect tan?)...Bobby (Daughton) makes the scene...hey, there's Dugan...seems he's traded in his boogie van for a set of dumbbells and a motorcycle, now spending his days working out in the sand and calling everyone a punk...and there's Dina (Lankford), the new lifeguard...uh oh Dina, better not let your supervisor catch you wearing a bikini on duty. Look at that...there's a dog trained to steal women's bikini tops...that's right, get up and chase after that dog so everyone can get a good look at your bazooms. Hey, there's Ms. Plickett (Plumb), a teacher from the high school, getting clumsily hit on by Dugan. He does manage to pick her up, only later to be shot down...didn't that coming...and so it goes. Later that night Bobby and his friend Paul (Luther) hook up with Dina and her friend Sally (Player). Bobby's getting plenty of action from Sally, but Paul's not doing so well with Dina (she's got the goo goo eyes for Bobby)...there's a bonfire, some weed, and about the biggest bottle of wine I've ever seen. Uh oh, here comes Dugan...seem Dugie's got the hots for Dina, and is itching to get into a beach blanket rumble with the boys. The film goes on like this, as there's some skinning dipping, white people dancing awkwardly, beach bonfires, girls in bikinis, Bobby hooks up with Dina, Paul runs afoul of some `vanners', drag racing in stolen cars, the beach mutt steals some more bikini tops, more bazooms, a nerdlinger throws a bash, hi-jinks galore, some making out, Dugan acting like an a-hole, and so on, finally culminating in a showdown (of sorts) between Bobby and Dugan.
In case it isn't obvious as to what one might be getting themselves into with this film, I'll detail a fairly common exchange from the movie. Bobby and Paul are cruising a strip, pull up next to Dina and Sally, and invite them to hang out, but Dina's hesitant...
Sally "Aw come on...I wanna go"
Dina "I don't know"
Sally "I want to if you want to"
Dina "Well, if you want to"
Sally "I want to"
About this time I was hoping, nay praying, for a flaming meteorite to descend from the merciful heavens and crush all those within the scene, but alas...the acting throughout the film is pretty much what you'd expect, but the actual story itself was lacking, even for a film like this...at least in The Van, there was a sense of continuous flows, but here, the story wanders around, often settling into a particular scene for way too long, causing an overall sense of drag. And I wouldn't have even minded, as perhaps this was indicative of the SoCal lifestyle of the times, laid back and feelin' groovy, but at least make things a little more interesting. There is some fun to be had here, both of the intentional and unintentional kind, along with a good deal of nekkidness, mostly of the topless variety. I didn't think Ms. Lankford would doff her clothing, as she seemed of the goody goody variety, but sure enough, she does make with the goods (a few times). As far as Daughton goes, it was interesting seeing him play a good guy, considering his next film, Animal House, would forever typecast him as the heavy. There was one really odd sequence near the beginning where Dugan's giving Ms. Plickett a ride home from the beach on his motorcycle accompanied by the Peter & Gordon song "I Go to Pieces", which actually gets used a few times throughout (Crown International certainly got their money's worth). I like the song, but it just felt so strange used the way it was in that scene. My favorite scene involved a bratty kid running around the beach being a pain in everyone's behind. At one point he runs up to Dina and tells her, "You got big t*ts for a lifeguard." He then proceeds to run out into the water and pretend like he's drowning. Dina swims out to save him, only to find out he doesn't need saving, but then he starts drowning for real, so she does rescue him. Once back on the beach, as a crowd gathers, she makes sure he's okay, leaves, and Dugan, who's got the hots for Dina, grabs the kid, shaking him violently, and threatens to break every bone in his body if he ever tries a stupid stunt like that again. You have to picture this, a gawky kid being physically manhandled by a hulking, tattooed, muscle head, who looks to be about in his mid 30s, in front of a throng of spectators. To Oliver's credit, he was convincing, as the kid really did looked scare out of his wits. The film does eventually end, suitably, and with one of the phoniest looking cinematic sharks I've ever seen.
The picture quality, presented in fullscreen, looks really decent on this Rhino DVD release, and the audio comes through well enough. There are no extras features on the disc. As another has stated, it does appear this version is missing some footage, as The Internet Movie Database lists a running time of 96 minutes, and this one ran about 93 minutes. What might be missing? I couldn't tell you. The one thing I really dislike about this release, a commonality to Rhino releases in general, is their usage of the cardboard and plastic snap cases, known as snapper cases. Warner Brothers used to utilize this really cheap form pf packaging, but even they've since gotten away from it due to customer complaints. I like the fact Rhino releases these forgettable films and charges accordingly, but I'd be willing to fork over the extra 50 cents for better packaging.

dont have alot to say about the movie. just one thing. i have seen this movie quite a few times at drive ins . and on HBO, and cinemax. they cut some parts out of the movie on the rhino dvd. not sure about it on vhs??. most likely thats complete. i feel cheated. other wise the movie looked realy good on dvd. if you dont mind a few things missing out of the movie. then i think you will be happy with its quality. after all! the movie came out in the late 70s.

Death to This Movie.......2007-05-08
I decided, even after reading many of the negative reviews, to give this movie a chance. I thought that with Jaime Pressly in it, it couldn't be too bad? Man, I was wrong. The movie was just dumb. I actually prefer the off the wall type comedies, that most reviewers don't like. But this was just out there. I never really laughed, except at myself for actually spending $5 to buy the movie. It was a horrible movie, with an even worse ending. I wouldn't even spend the money to rent this crapfest. I would've given it 0 stars if I could've...
Death of The Super Models - Near Death Experience.......2007-04-11
When I watched this Movie I was thinking I was going to see totally hot Babe Supermodels. The Hotest Girl there was jamie Pressly! The story is Jamies Character gets a Chance to make her big break with the photo shoot of her life if she can get them all to agree to go on to the Island. It takes its pot shoots at the modelling world with regards to diet and pills as all these movies do. These can be the high point. The photgraphers are to gays one who is constantly jealous of the other talking to any one else. These are also a funny pair at time. This is not something you run to the video store to get. It's more like the free one you can choose when you rent the new release. Jamie Pressly is the best the way she tries to keep it all together.
Not great....could have been way funnier.......2007-01-09
This is a comedy about a group of supermodels doing a photo shoot on an island and someone starts killing them off one by one. The biggest suspect is the wannabe ex-model who is coordinating the shoot (Jamie Pressly) and has a voice in her head which talks to her. I thought the concept of the movie was funny. Who doesn't want to see a bunch of dumb, stuck-up supermodels get whacked? Other than a few laughs, the movie falls flat and resorts to fart jokes and stereotypes. It's dumb humor along the lines of 'Scary Movie' or 'Date Movie' but somehow it just doesn't have the same charm as those movies. The ending also, I found unsatisfying and it didn't make as strong of a statement as the rest of the movie. A different ending would have made it a much better movie in my opinion. The only reason I gave it three stars instead of two was because I like Jaime Pressly. Jaime is a great and very versitile actress (see Poison Ivy 3, she plays a wicked sexy psyco chick) and I think she was the one factor that made this movie watchable. She played the role of the 'perky' former model very well and I'd like to see her in more movies. Personally, I think Jaime was the hottest woman in the movie. On the upside, it's got a lot of sexy ladies in bikinis to appeal to men and women will certainly appriciate seeing a bunch of vain, shallow models get killed off. Overall, this movie was not horrid, there are just way funnier comedies out there and I reccomend watching it on cable or renting it before you buy. I might watch it again but I would not pay for it!
Ha ha.......2006-10-14
Just plain silly. Liked the beginning, very funny start. It is just a silly movie start to finish, if you don't like silly, don't buy this one.
The movie rambles and roams around never really grabbing your attention or tickling your funny bone........2006-09-23
I like every actor/actress in this movie that I know of and I really tried to like it, but if a movie ever needed gratuitous nude scenes this was the one, but alas it had but one short meaningless nude scene performed by a unknown and it was her only scene. Sadly that was one of the films highlights. Now I say that because if it had few nude scenes thrown in here and there then the film would be at least veiwable or have fleeting moments of sophmoric humor ... somewhat. It did have a plot, a very weak, very predicable plot that left no room for surprises or guess work unless perhaps you are a little challenged mentally. The surprise ending was lackluster and overall a very poor effort for those involved. It did have Taylor Negron who as a rule is pretty funny, but I'm guessing the budget on this movie was so low that they couldn't afford to pay him to talk as he played a mute and Matt Winston said all his lines. The scenes with Matt Winston (Gerd) and Taylor Negron (Gunther) offered a few chuckles, but for rest of the cast Jaime Pressly, Brooke Burns, Maria Arcé, Sung Hi Lee and others they seemed painfully out of place. Granted they are very easy on the eyes, but fall far from comedy they are trying so hard to perform. Even the quasi evil Merle played by Diane Delano who you might remember as Officer Barbara Semanski from "Northern Exposure" failed to deliver a quality performance it was for the most part her reviving her role as Semanski.
Overall the movie rambles and roams around never really grabbing your attention or tickling your funny bone. For all of it's effort to be funny it in the end falls to do so. Now for the record, I can handle a bad movie , I can handle really bad movies and I even enjoy them time to time, but somehow I doubt this movie will last long on my bad movie collection for it doesn't make it into the guilty pleasure or midnight movie class of films. Catch it on Comedy Central if you have to see it, it should be there real soon, but don't waste your money on it unless you can rent it for free.
The DVD extras are thin and not very funny, the overall transfer and sound is good but not worth the $3.00 I paid for it.
It would seem the reveiwer that said "This Movie ROCKS" has being running around to different review sites, tooting this movies horn, guess they are either in the movie or friends with someone who is, as every other reveiw sight has this film rated at 1 star or less. I know where the "Rocks" are and they are not on the screen but they are in Hollywood.

come on..........2006-08-14
this movie was good until the bob sagetish moral, meaning of life, message to the people or whatever u wanna call it came in the script.
it is like full house with nudity. if youre bored and wanna see some nudity, or girls from the early 90 in bikini. make your day.

I never got this product. I recieved an e-mail that mentioned, the product was returned to the whare-house, and my money was re-funded
THE BEST!.......2003-02-10
This movie is great. It's possibly the most amazing movie ever made. It stars Jessica Hahn as a horny houswife, and is directed by Jeff "Bobby Wheeler" Conaway of Taxi fame. It also stars Conaway's sister, and a guy who was also in Donnie Brasco, not to mention some great acting from females who sometimes get naked. I swears to bears that this movie is a tour de force of modern filmmaking. Bikini Summer 2 will be discovered by anthropologists in the distant future and will become an object of serious discussion and investigation. This movie defines its own genre and is perfect for the discriminating film enthusiast.

And it is chaotic, incomprehensible! Jessica Hahn, top billed is on display for about 90 seconds (you think she can act?) Everything else is chop suey, editing room out-jokes (the opposite of in-jokes), vapid, soft core, exploitation. This movie was made by people who know that a name in the news, and female nudity will separate a certain type (worldwide) from their cashola.
Fantastic!.......2000-03-18
Let's face it. We're not watching this sort of movie for great character development or intriquite plot twists. This sort of movie is all about women in bikinis, or less. This movie is an excellent piece of work, if judged with that in mind. The women are many and Hot, the situations are funny and provocative, and the outfits are skimpy, revealing and imaginative. There are few movies in this genre that can top this one. If you are a fan, Don't hesitate to buy this flick!
