I had no idea what this film was about. All I knew was that it was from Jamie Uys and I liked his other works. I ordered it.

I won't say it was awful but it wasn't great either. It turned out to be a compendium of scenes from a South African show called FUNNY PEOPLE. It seems that is the South African analog of CANDID CAMERA. The gags are similar in style and the results are as well. If you liked CANDID CAMERA, you might well like this. If you aren't a fan, then you had best steer clear.

There are a few funny bits but you have to sit through a lot to get to them. Its hardly worth the effort.

Something else that should be noted is that this dates back to the 70's. The styles are from that era and the quality of the videography is evocative of that time as well.

A rivalry ensues between radio producers Pinky Wilson (Haley) and Leroy Brinker (Nelson), who each own half of the rights to the "People Are Funny" radio show, and each want to do their own version. The show is a weekly radio series where audience members engange in silly and embarrasing stunts for huge prizes. The two producers fight over a wealthy sponsor Ormsby Jamison (Vallee), plus Leroy tries to woo radio writer Corey Sullivan (Walker). Lots of musical numbers, including one by Francis Langford, and hilarious comedy bits by the actors, including future Three Stooges member Joe DeRita.

This musical comedy's plot concerns the race between two radio program producers who both wish to land a huge sponsor for their proposed shows. Pinky Wilson (Jack Haley) has a show concept he's sure will work but, he only have half-rights to the idea. His rival Frances Langford (Ozzie Nelson) has plans of his own and wants to prevent Pinky from getting the sponsorship. Rudy Vallee portrays the sponsor, Helen Walker is the love interest and Art Linkletter reprises his role from the actual radio program as the radio show host.
