AC DC rocks.......2007-02-21
No matter how you cut it, AC DC rocks. Is this the best concert video out there. Probably not. But, this one works just fine. The first couple of songs were shot in daylight hours, which was a little different. I wanted an AC DC dvd to put on the television as background entertainment for my parties. Well, this video was not very good for that, it ended up being the center part for my parties. We were all nodding our heads and tapping our feet to the music. Would I buy it again....Yes
AC/DC has not lost a beat.......2007-02-13
AC/DC still kicks but after all these years. This DVD of their last tour proves they still got alot of gas left in those tanks.
the truth from an AC/DC fan...and it hurts.......2007-01-26
well they are showing their age....to bad to..I was not impressed...Brian Johnson if you watch closely enough is straining A LOT to sing in many pan shots..you have to watch closely..I dare say it -- time to get a new singer.. namely the lead singer from Rhinobucket..truth hurts..sorry guys.
A Great Set (4.5).......2006-06-23
"Stiff Upper Lip" captures AC/DC working their butts off on a tour and even though they're aging, they prove that they can still deliver electrifying performances. This one is no short of excellent as they go through a huge chunk of their massive repetoire, covering the old and the new. Of course Brian Johnson can quite reach the high notes like he used to be able to, but believe me, this guy has energy and you can tell he is working hard. "You Shook Me All Night Long" really sets the tone for the show, and Angus Young gives a killer solo. My personal favourites from this concert are the performances from the Back in Black album, which include a great performance of the self titled track, a hard, blues tinged "Rock n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution", and a heavy version of "What Do You Do For Money, Honey?". "Shoot To Thrill" is another great one on here as AC/DC gets the whole crowd involved. "Thunderstruck" as usual lights up the audience and this is a top notch performance of the song. "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "TNT" show the band digging into the older stuff, and they a great job of it, and Angus kills the solos.
Overall, if you are a diehard AC/DC fan, you must have this DVD. I myself am a casual fan but wanted to see what their live shows are like and picked this up. It is excellent stuff. Highly recommended.
.....its NEVER GONNA die!.......2006-03-22
2003 still remains to be the last time AC/DC toured, which has finally caused me to wonder if they are gonna do it again. After all, HOW THE FRIG CAN ANYONE DO IT FOR SO LONG? Ok, so, first I watched the DONINGTON DVD from 1991. I was like WOW! They are getting a little old but... STILL KICKIN' IT!
Next I got the 2001 DVD. They look even older. Years of rock lifestyle in the most atomic degree HAS GOT to catch up with you. Right? Well, I guess if you want to judge a book by it's cover maybe... The DVD is still INTENSE!
AC/DC stands for everything that is pure and simple and still god damned amazing in ROCK! They are down and dirty, but in a lighthearted, free spirited sort of way. And maybe fame and money effects them in real life, but seriously, I don't give a cool heap about it. I LIKE to pound my head to the same formula over and over, it's addicting... if you think every song sounds the same you must have years of wax in the ears...
ok, a little slow dramatic intro to warm you up, it gets a little heavier when (thats good ol' PHIL RUDD) the 4/4 drums kick in, then BANG! I feel like findin' some ASS and GRASS! I just feel good, instantly... and these guys give it all the heart they've got, which makes me feel even better.
I don't care what ANYBODY says... I flippin' LOVE, L-O-V-E LOVE, AC/DC........
YEAH! Even better live!

Description
This irresistibly sexy comedy tells the outrageous story of a beautiful girl and her unlikely romantic awakening! Pretty young Emily has just reached the ripe old marrying age of 22, and her obnoxious family has already matched her with un upper-crust stiff. Emily, of course, feels nothing ... until she happens upon a strapping young peasant who unleashes all kinds of strange new feelings within her! As this funny, clever, and endlessly entertaining motion picture unfolds, a string of comic events is set into motion that force everyone to deal with some decidedly lusty new emotions!
Customer Reviews:
she has ghosts from Belgium........2007-03-14
This is a wonderful light-hearted satire of Merchant Ivory films. I love them and I loved it. The sparks between 22 year old Emily, who is being pressured to marry, and George, a representative of "the scum of the earth" carry the movie well, as does the romance between aunt agnes and cedric's uncle. Prunella Scales is so unlike her character in Fawlty Towers you need the credits to prove to yourself that she is the same actress. The characters are convincing if extreme.
The only movie my husband required me to buy........2006-09-16
We saw this movie for the first time on PBS and thought it was hysterical. It's only one of two movies that he can watch over and over again. It's also the only movie he can watch and not fall asleep. It's a little racy, but that's why it's so funny. The whole stoic, staid British never show emotion; makes the movie great. The main reason they go to Italy and India isn't to marry off Emily or prevent her association with George, but because they're driving the butler crazy!!
Jolly good show, old chap.......2005-01-23
Given the mixed reviews I read on the Amazon website about this one, I wasn't sure if it would be any good. Fortunately, though, I was pleasantly, nay, SIDE-SPLITTINGLY surprised! It was brilliant!
Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a parody of Merchant Ivory movies. It also pays extensive homage to Ken Russell's brilliant 'Lady Chatterley' as well, not to mention having a bit of a dig at Jane Eyre/Sense and Sensibility/et al.
You don't have to be a huge Merchant Ivory fan to like this, although it probably helps. Even though the last time I saw a Merchant Ivory movie was many years ago, I still got all the jokes in this. And even my boyfriend, who has never watched anything in the Merchant Ivory genre and probably never will, was falling about laughing. Some jokes are subtle, some are over the top and bawdy, but all are hilarious.
Prunella Scales and Peter Ustinov, two veteran actors at the top of their game, are absolutely wonderful in this, as are the rest of the cast.
Thoroughly recommended!
Funny but dirty.......2002-05-02
There are some undeniably funny moments in this spoof of Merchant Ivory's lush literary films such as "A Room with a View" and "A Passage to India." Indeed, it was a genre that was ripe for a good parody. Peter Ustinov is especially funny as an English imperialist in India, who needs to sit on hunks of British lawn while he has tea. However, I found this movie to be so crammed with sex jokes that it bordered on the peurile. Certainly the sexual repression of the proper English movies was a good target for comedy, but I think this film goes a little overboard with its endless sex jokes until one wonders whether the writers have more than one string to their violin.
How well do you know your British movies?.......2002-03-17
Granted this isn't a high brow humor movie, but it isn't supposed to be. It is hysterical if you take it for what it is- a movie about sex that made fun of all the aspects of Merchant Ivory films and Masterpiece Theatre that needed to be laughed at. Some of the parodies were really very clever, my favorite being the Mouret Fanfare played on the sitar, while others were on the overdone side. On the whole though this movie is great if you're well versed in quite a bit of British film.
