Description
When a young rock band's van breaks down in the middle of nowhere they become unwilling guests of the quirky townsfolk of Hereabouts, Alabama. It's sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, and a finger-eating alligator. The Deep South was never this strange!
Customer Reviews:
I had alot of fun with this movie........2007-01-06
I really liked this movie because it was different and humorous. I love the movies that have the rednecks in. To me, they are very humorous and witty. What I really didn't get was the salesman that was OCD. I don't know what part he really had in the movie, but I did feel very sorry for him what he was suffering with. Hey, for 99 cents here at Amazon, you can't beat the price for this funny movie.
A sweet and fun movie.......2004-07-11
I loved the characters and there interactions. Each of the individual stories was well done and then intertwined in a well thought out and entertaining movie. This is not a slapstick comedy, there is very little violence and the nudity is used to advance the plot and is far from erotic.
I can't believe that several of the people that reviewed this movie saw the same one I did.
Not worth the rental, don't waste your time.......2003-01-07
I actually rate this movie a big fat "0". The plot was very weak and the characters were even weaker. I can't recall laughing once through the whole movie. The "I'm stupid white trash from the south" humor was just not funny. I'm still trying to figure out why this movie was made. It was pointless from the very beginning.
Unfortunate cover hides interesting film.......2002-11-23
This is a much better film than it's been marketed as, and unfortunately those judging by its cover will probably be disappointed. "Stalled" is not a romping, down-south, hillbilly comedy. It's actually an intricate ensemble piece, juggling a number of engaging and bittersweet plot threads. The result is far from perfect and sometimes a bit dragged out, yet each plot does cash out satisfactorily.
Where does one begin? The cover tells the more prominent story: a touring band from Chicago is stranded in the small town of Hereabouts until their van can be repaired. They are put up for the night by the family of Len, Lacy, and their daughter Sheri. Sheri pines to escape Hereabouts and see the world, and the band is her big ticket out. In the background is Pat, the filthy local mechanic, who has eyes for Sheri. The band, meanwhile, is coping with the drug habits of their lead singer Dave (whose foul mouth alone earns the film a solid "R" rating). The band's romantic couple, Ross and Joy, are on the verge of breaking up, causing further strains. And their bass player, Brendon, is the first target for Sheri to carry her away on their tour.
Alongside all of this is the town's stripper, Leanne, who also desires to escape Hereabouts. Her eyes are set on a traveling salesman, Ward, who is too obsessive-compulsive for his own job. Keeping him sane is his daughter, who is losing her innocence to the dark secrets of her mother.
It's a large number of characters to follow, yet the film manages to give each character's story due attention. By the time "Stalled" is over, you'll discover the secret that every character carries with them. And while there were numerous opportunities for Hollywood endings, the movie has the guts to follow its own lead. This rarity in itself is what makes "Stalled" a movie worth checking out.
Swing low, make it awful........2002-11-14
I rented this movie just because it was a new release and there wasn't much to choose from that day. I wish I hadn't. I've seen a lot of bad movies in my day, and this is certainly one of the worst ever. I got the feeling it was supposed to be a comedy, except, it wasn't funny at all. Terrible script, bad acting. Rent this movie, and you will regret it.
