The Brady Bunch Movie
The big-screen version of the hugely popular 1970s television sitcom takes an original angle: instead of simply re-creating the old series, the film spoofs it by presenting the merged family as blithely unaware that fashions and customs have changed in the '90s. Shelley Long and Gary Cole are hilarious as the ultra-square yet libidinous Mr. and Mrs. Brady, Christopher Daniel Barnes is an ideal Greg, and Christine Taylor seems practically cloned from the original Marcia. But director Betty Thomas (Private Parts) shifts the emphasis away from comparisons between old and new Bradys and concentrates on quasi-surreal parodies and set pieces featuring the Brady kids doing their spirited, singing thing for a disbelieving public. Smart, sharp, and happy to share its conspiratorial mood with an appreciative audience, The Brady Bunch Movie is a kick.

A Very Brady Sequel
This second ironic send-up of the old Sherwood Schwartz sitcom is even funnier than The Brady Bunch Movie. Shelley Long and Gary Cole return as the married heads of the merged family known as the Bradys, and Christopher Daniel Barnes and Christine Taylor reprise their roles as eldest stepsiblings Greg and Marcia. As with the first film, the clever premise finds the Brady clan caught in a kind of '70s time warp, while the rest of the world has moved well into the '90s. Greg is still looking for a "groovy girlfriend," Mr. Brady thinks the idea of a cable that sends 50 channels to one's TV set must be a joke, and Mrs. Brady spends hours at the beauty shop only to look exactly the same as she went in. There's a plot involving an imposter (Tim Matheson) who claims to be Carol's long-lost husband, but the real charge in this comedy comes from the way these pseudohip characters deal with sexual taboos (is there any real reason that Greg and Marcia shouldn't get it on?) and the incredulous reactions of other people. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Why didn't they make a third!!!.......2007-04-17

Now I normally despise remakes of old tv shows, but the Brady Bunch movies are different - they don't "do the same old thing" with updated sets and characters nothing like the originals...

...they are the original characters surrounded by an updated reality.

The movies are parodies of the tv show they pay homage to, but at themselves as well. They are not a desire to modernize old characters that some dilettante dingbat thinks modern audiences would appreciate (hint, modern audiences DON'T), but the writers actually did something creative without losing the essence of the original characters. They knew the charcters and how to fit the new style comedy. They have the surreal spark that actually makes doing something with an old premise worthwhile. And such a mix is a rare treat; that most tv-made-into-movies creators just cannot even begin to grasp.

The movies themselves are a handful of vignettes from original TV episodes; but warped with modern day society - including puns that would otherwise be deemed vulgar, come off surprisingly inoffensive because these characters are still in the 1970s and the rest of the world is in 1995 (or 1996).

Well, there are some differences - nobody expected the movie's writers to also incorporate the actual actors' behind-the-scenes moments into the movies as well; it has been said that the actors playing Marcia and Greg may have dated, so lo and behold the writers turn Movie Marcia and Movie Greg into doing it. This is somewhat perverse, but because we all know it's a self-referential homage, the end result is more hilarious than vulgar.

Of course, there are the DVDs themselves - the 5.1 Dolby sound is terrific, and the visual looks colorful and crisp, even if there are some periodic artifacting defects. Nothing major. And it's in 16:9 enhanced format, so I'm not going to complain.

The DVD releases are solid, there's little that could be done to improve the quality, and it's a shame a third Brady movie was never made. And it's a shame so many old-tv-to-movie shows are even given a first shot with their "movies by numbers" ineptitude.

5 out of 5 stars brady bunch movie.......2006-12-25

back in the day when jan was all like "Marshs, Marsha, Marsha . . . it's always all about Marsha!" it was great -
in the film you see the underlying Pschotic Break happening as the voice tell her what to do -
the new film versions of old shows bring in quality science -
what Lost in Space moive does to justify the classic timetravel paradox -
this here film does to explore modern thought on abnormal psychology
it's like the same entertainment we grew up with with all our education in human nature mixed in
finally the 60's and 70's have grown up with us noe having th skills to present a great story without spaceships on strings and see how a family can remain in there own personal timewarp

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Deal....First Movie takes the cake!.......2006-11-07

I am a die-hard Brady fan. The first movie is hilarious. Perfect movie to watch on a rainy day or when it's so cold out, all you want to do is relive your favorite Brady movies in these funny satires. In my opinion, the first movie is much better than the second. However, there are a few funny parts here and there in the second.

Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Brody is Bull.......2006-05-31

I love this movie, but this review is not about the movie itself. It is about the review "Brody "Brodyman" (Amity Island)" wrote. It was complete and utter bull that needs to be taken off this website. Brody himself needs to be removed as well, looking at many of his other reviews, which are quite gross, creepy, and uncalled for. So those of you who want to know the truth about this movie, I suggest you buy it because it really is hysterical. But obviously Brody was talking about his own family bunch, because none of what he said was true about this movie.

4 out of 5 stars 30 years later... Still poking fun at Mike & Carol.......2004-09-17

Shelley Long (as Carol), Gary Cole (as Mike) and Christine Taylor (as Marsha) were born to play these roles. The rest of the cast is great too (no-name Jan, Jennifer Cox, has some great lines and confused looks). Gary Cole nailed all of Mike Brady's mannerisms, voice inflections, and all around character to a flipping tee. Shelley Long was a great choice and she played the part of ever upbeat and quirky Carol beautifully. I couldn't have chosen two better actors to play Mike & Carol - these two performers knew their charactors like the back of their hands. For those of us who grew up in the late 1960's and 70's when the Brady's were on prime time TV - these movies are a great flashback. The Brady's are still stuck in their 70's time warp with all of America changing (1990's style) around them. The house interior and backyard scenes were just as I remembered them. While each of these movies are not deep or valuable as far as the material goes... the entertainment value in my book is still high. These 2 movies were just plain fun to watch and I found myself laughing out loud many times. The "Sequel" is equally good and just as funny. Cameos by most of the original cast and a few other stars including Michael McKean (Lavern & Shirley's "Lenny") and Davey Jones and The Monkees. DVD extras are minimal, but worth it on the low price alone.

Amazon.com essential video

The King of Comedy, which flopped at the box office, is actually a gem waiting to be rediscovered. Like A Face in the Crowd (a not-so-distant cousin to this film), Network, and The Truman Show, its target is show business--specifically the burning desire to become famous or be near the famous, no matter what. Robert De Niro plays the emotionally unstable, horrendously untalented Rupert Pupkin, a wannabe Vegas-style comedian. His fantasies are egged on by Marsha, a talk-show groupie (brilliantly played by Sandra Bernhard) who hatches a devious, sure-to-backfire plan. Jerry Lewis is terrific in the straight role as the Johnny Carson-like talk-show host Jerry Langford. De Niro's performance as the obsessive Pupkin is among his finest (which is saying a lot) and he never tries to make the character likable in any way. Because there's no hero and no one to root for, and because at times the film insists we get a little too close and personal with Pupkin, some will be put off. Yet it's one of Scorsese's most original and fascinating films, giving viewers much to consider on the subject of celebrity. Its inevitable climax is clever and quietly horrific. --Christopher J. Jarmick

Description

Martin Scorsese's The King Of Comedy is a funny depiction of the dangers of celebrity fandom. Robert De Niro plays the ridiculously inept Rupert Rupkin, an aspiring comic who idolizes talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis). Still living at home with his mother, Rupert spends his days trying to arrange a meeting with his hero. When he isn't doing that, he's at home talking to carboard cutouts in his makeshift television studio. After Rupert convinces Rita (Diahnne Abbot), a pretty bartender, that Langford has invited them to his house outside the city, the reality of the situation makes itself painfully apparent upon arriving at the star's front door. Trouble is, Rupert's too delusional to take the hint. He eventually hatches a plan with an equally obsessed fan, Masha (Sandra Berhard), to kidnap Langford in exchange for a chance to let him deliver his routine on the air.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Incredible From Start to Finish.......2007-08-24

The character of Rupert Pupkin could only be put on screen by the immaculate Robert De Niro. Considering the characters of Young Vito (The Godfather, Part II (Two-Disc Widescreen Edition)), Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)), Jake La Motta (Raging Bull (Special Edition)), and Noodles (Once Upon a Time in America (Two-Disc Special Edition)), this a stark change for Robert De Niro.

Rupert Pupkin is a wannabe stand-up comic. He idolizes late night talk show host Jerry Langford (played wonderfully by Jerry Lewis) and hopes he can help him get his big break.

This movie talkes you on an incredible ride and doesn't let you off at all. This is definitely one of De Niro's memorable characters. The whole cast is perfect. From the zany antics of his wacky sidekick Sandra Bernhard, to the subtle nuances of his dream girl Diahnne Abbott.

One for the ages. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Scary Comedy.......2007-06-09

This brilliant film about an aspiring comic who resorts to kidnapping, is a little known masterpiece by Martin Scorcese.

The part DeNiro plays here is as different from Taxi Driver or Raging Bull as you can get, but he still shows why in the early 80's he was THE best actor to have in your movie. From what I have read DeNiro did a lot of preparation work (as always) for this movie, and it shows, he is never less than utterly convincing.

There are some marvellous (though cringe-making) scenes in this film. Particularly when Pupkin (DeNiro) is trying to get to see Langford (Lewis). The receptionist tells Pupkin he's not in, so Pupkin just waits and waits. The cringe factor is like that in Alan Partridge, or perhaps The Office, except that you won't be laughing through this.

I've not seen Jerry Lewis in any other films but thought both he and Sandra Bernhard gave fine performances. This film also shows that Scorcese is capable of making great films regardless of the subject matter.

I'd concede that this film will not be to everyones taste, so if in doubt rent it first, and then buy it.

3 out of 5 stars Better To Be King For a Night.......2007-03-24

This is a pretty darn good movie, although there was this nagging sense throughout that I had seen it all before. De Niro playing a stalker who relentlessly hunts down a celebrity: "The Fan." The man who does not know the difference between being a star in your head and being a star in real life: "Science of Sleep." A man driven by his passion for fame and fortune who takes that passion and drives it towards its ugly final conclusion: "Hustle and Flow." But as my friend keeps reminding me it doesn't count if you get deja vu from the older film. So all of my comparisons are pretty much null and void, but I can't go back in time so oh well. And still this film about Rupert Pupkin (Robert De Niro) who attacks his quest for fame with a pitbulls tenacity through the pits and valleys his life has in store for him is quite entertaining. Scorsese rarely makes a bad movie and this isn't one of them. We learn plenty about this Mr. Pupkin and very little of it is flattering. He is a pathetic man who has allowed the dark side of the American Dream to claim victory over his soul. In many ways celebrities provide mirrors into out psyches, we create them so that we can see ourselves in a perfect, beautiful light. Unfortunately Pupkin takes that a little too seriously, so seriously in fact he believes that he is the heir apparent to a late night talk show hosted by Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis). Along with fellow schemer Masha (Sandra Bernhard) Pupkin hatches a plan to get his face on the tube. He follows the age old adage: When all else fails, kidnap. And so he does. Langford is forced to pay for the sins of apathy, and Pupkin goes on the become king for the night.

I would say that today, in the age of Paris Hilton (boo!), is the perfect time to re-examine this film. It touches on a very timely topic, that being the phenomenon of being famous simply for being famous. We know Paris Hilton for her bod, Jessica Simpson for her lack of brain cells, and William Hung for doing a bad job on a bad TV game show. So in that respect the fact that Pupkin became famous by forcing his way on the air, by any and all means necessary, seems amazingly prophetic. And De Niro disappears into the role, as much as is humanly possible for De Niro to disappear into any role. Here is a man who, after forcing his way upon Langford early on in the film, mistakes affability with his big break. He is delusional, he is a stalker, he is a social reject. But he is going to be a star. . .just ask him. Or ask him to show you his John Hancock in his autograph book, conveniently enough it is right next to Burt Reynolds' and Marilyn Monroe's. His grasp on reality is non-existent and if his hopes and dreams don't give it away then his outfits certainly do. Many of the scenes here are hard to watch. Pupkin sets up camp inside his office and won't leave until he is forced out the front door. He takes a date with him to Langford's for the weekend, uninvited of course, and once again is removed from the premises. And thanks to De Niro's performance we truly believe that this man cannot tell the difference between pursuing happiness and being a nuisance. Be sure to watch for a cute little cameo from Scorsese himself near the end. The film is strong but unassuming. This is not Scorsese stretching for greatness but a dialed down human drama that isn't that far removed from "Taxi Driver." Mr. Pupkin is better natured and more of a go getter, but deep down him and Travis Bickle have a lot in common. ***1/2

The Broadway's Lost Treasures Collection consists of the three volumes previously released on DVD plus a never-before-available fourth disc, The Best of the Tony Awards: The Plays. The first three discs deliver what the title promises: historic performances of great moments in American musical theater televised on the Tony Awards starting in the 1960s and into the new millennium. Unlike some other arts, theater has rarely been well-documented, so it's a treat to see these numbers performed by the original artists rather than experience them through audio recordings or tepid movie adaptations. Sure, sound and picture quality are only adequate, some of the numbers are minimally staged and some appear to be lip-synched, and some of the performances that do have excellent film counterparts seem rather lackluster here. But those are minor drawbacks compared to the chance to see Gwen Verdon performing "All That Jazz" and "Nowadays" from Chicago and "Whatever Lola Wants" from Damn Yankees; John Raitt singing The Pajama Game's "Hey There"; Alfred Drake singing Kiss Me Kate's "Where Is the Life That Late I Led"); a 33-year-old Jerry Orbach performing Promises, Promises' "She Likes Basketball"; and 12-year-old Andrea McArdle breaking hearts in Annie's "Tomorrow."

The second and third volumes feature newer, fully staged performances that are almost indistinguishable from an actual show, including scenes from splashy, high-energy revivals such as Anything Goes (Patti LuPone and company performing the title tune) and Guys and Dolls (the fabulous "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat"), and new shows such as Grand Hotel (Michael Jeter and Brent Barrett in a gloriously exuberant "Take a Glass Together"), Les Miserables ("One Day More"), La Cage aux Folles (George Hearn solo and with a chorus line in drag in "I Am What I Am"), Ragtime (the opening number), and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Kristin Chenoweth's "My New Philosophy"). The new generation of splashy dance-oriented musicals are also represented by the likes of the 42nd Street revival (the title tune and "We're in the Money"), Fosse ("Sing, Sing, Sing"), and Crazy for You ("I Can't Be Bothered Now").

The Best of the Tony Awards: The Plays features 19 of the dramatic and comedy excerpts showcased on the Tony Awards telecasts between 1969 and 2001. From 1969 are James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander in The Great White Hope and Art Carney in Lovers, and other performances include Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack in Lettice and Lovage (1990), John Lithgow and B.D. Wong in M. Butterfly (1988), Joan Allen and Peter Friedman in The Heidi Chronicles (1988), and Joe Mantegna and Ron Silver in Speed-the-Plow (1988). The performances aren't specifically organized by date or performer, but the collection concludes with four excerpts from August Wilson works followed by three Shakespearean works. The excerpts are brief, lasting 2-3 minutes each, and even though each segment is introduced by a narrator, this format clearly works better for musicals than it does for plays. Regardless, it remains a rare chance to see stage performances that for the most part are not available on home video. Collectors who already own the three musical volumes, however, will have to weigh how badly they want The Plays when they consider mostly duplicating their purchase with the Broadway's Lost Treasures Collection. --David Horiuchi

4 out of 5 stars Perfect for Musical Theatre fans.......2007-07-17

If you are a fan of Musical Theatre, this is a must-have DVD. The performances are absolute classics. My only disappointment was the video quality, but I guess most of these were not really filmed with that in mind. Several are segments taken from old TV variety shows. Still, it's a treat to see them.

I feel this is great memorabilia for the older crowd. There are facts that a lot of people did not know about some of the actors, like few people knew Jerry Orback was a song and dance man.

Broadway stars abound in these DVDs. There is a wonderful variety of clips and the narrations and interviews are good, as well. Such talent! Gregory Hines, Robert Goulet, Richard Kiley, Julie Andrews, and more and more to knock you off your feet. Don't pass this up!

5 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect.......2007-02-27

I saw this on PBS and immediately decided to buy myself a copy!
While these excerpts are not from the broadway shows themselves, they are from the Tony Awards and are therefore, 'live.' And it's just wonderful to experience the level of 'energy' that great actors project when performing live on a stage.

There are a couple of songs that I don't particularly care for myself (Worst Pies in London), but most are wonderful, and the performances, while not 100% flawless (this WAS filmed live) are almost all engaging.

A few comments:
Yul Brenner manages to project more energy just standing there in the background than his co-star singing her heart out in "Shall We Dance." She is, alas, a fairly indifferent actress, and is overwhelmed by her enormous dress!

Lip-synced or no, Robert Preston in "Music Man" is wonderful. As is Joel Grey's fabulous MC in "Caberet." Again, it's all about energy.

I'd honestly never even heard of Patti Lapone before I saw this show, but she blew me away with her powerful voice. (Evita.)

"All that Jazz" and "Nowadays" from "Chicago" is, alas, much too short, but delightful.

The most unintentionally funny bit -- Twiggy looking either utterly bored or utterly terrified (but completely out of character, regardless) as she struggles with a simple dance routine in "Kicking the Clouds Away," (From "My One and Only.") She must have not realized that the camera had her in close up ...

Bratz fashion dolls now have their very own animated feature film, starring four fashion-forward pals--Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, and Sasha--as they navigate the traumas of adolescence with attitudes as edgy as their cartoon caricatures. The film opens as the girls receive an art class assignment to "Express Yourself" through a video they jointly produce. The project creates a convenient backdrop for the storyline, which follows each girl in her quest for self-discovery. Sasha is stressed as head of the prom committee, while Yasmin goes undercover as the school newspaper's gossip columnist. Jade nearly collapses from a fashion crisis, while Cloe is in search of the perfect mudpack makeover. There are boys, of course, and a conspicuous absence of adult role models. "Super slammin' good times" await preteen viewers interested in shopping, shoes, and spa treatments, but for those who want a film with substance, the search is on. (Ages 7 to 12) --Lynn Gibson

Description

It's one adventure after another as they dive for coins in a fountain, perform in a karaoke contest and ultimately confront their foe. But will they free the puppy? One thing's for sure - anyone who teams up with the Bratz Babyz is bound to come out a winner!

4 out of 5 stars Bratz.......2007-08-24

My daughter got this as a gift and loves it. I do not care for the way that the Bratz dress, even in the Bratz Babyz movie. I wish they would wear age appropriate clothes. My daughter loves them.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Story.......2007-06-15

My daughter and I loved this Bratz adventure. I've been a fan of all things genie since I was a kid and first watched "I Dream of Jeannie", so I really love the theme. We have the whole set of dolls from this Genie Magic series. They're all very pretty and have great costumes. I love the way these movies are animated because it really looks like the dolls. I won't bother rehashing the plot because you can read that on the product description page, but I will say that it was a very good story and lots of fun to watch. Many of the kids DVDs and videos are not written to be enjoyed by adults, but the Bratz series is. Even friends with no kids have enjoyed this DVD with us. This is a story about parents learning to let go, as much as its a story about a magical genie. Very well done.

3 out of 5 stars I See the Appeal, But I Sure Don't Like It.......2007-05-14

My daughter discovered Bratz about a year ago, and I immediately tried to discourage her interest. Barbies are one thing, but Bratz are simply hoochie-mamas designed to influence little girls into wearing clothes that are simply innapropriate. That being said though, I totally get the appeal for the younger girls. Fashion, a little romance--it's all very tres chic. Doesn't mean I have to like it, though.

She loved it, of course, when they came out with Bratz Babyz, so we had to watch the movie. On its own merits, the movie is pretty cute. The girls lose their dog at the mall, where they're pursued by an older bully, a security guard, and the baby-care center director. Except for the plot, though, this movie loses serious points with me. The Bratz Babyz go around in belly button-baring shirts and diapers! That's it! Where the heck are their clothes? Teen hoochie-mamas are one thing; baby hoochie-mamas are just plain scary.

Overall, sure, the movie is a cute one for the little girls to watch once. After that, besides just getting on your nerves, this one can go back to the video rental store.

5 out of 5 stars Great, entertaining and captivating........2007-04-08

This movie has everything, suspense, true friendship, magic, fortune telling, loving family versus the cunning bad guys, and of course stylish clothes. Latest Indian trends especially. The graphics are good, and the ending is encouraging. Good prevails and the world is a safe place again. Very entertaining and worth the money in my opinion. I enjoyed watching as much as the kids.

3 out of 5 stars One decent the other shouldn't have been made.......2007-06-05

Have you ever seen a film an said "i hope they don't make a part two and should leave things the way they are!"...well, this is how these two films are. Troll was not a bad film (but, not great either), however, it had some moments of being funny and others times dropping the ball, but, to be honest, Troll it self is sure to stand alone. Now, for Troll 2..its a stinker, this movie shouldn't have been made at all and should have just left it alone without the part 2. Anyways, if you seem that you need this film, get it for "Troll" only and if you can stomach part 2 then bring the pillow and hope for the best. Rental Only

5 out of 5 stars wonderful movie.......2007-05-23

I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE IN AWHILE,BUT IT WAS STILL A GOOD MOVIES TO SEE AGAIN AFTER SO LONG..

5 out of 5 stars Without a doubt one of the best worst movies ever!.......2007-03-03

I absolutely love these movies. They are completely aweful yet completely entertaining. Think of something that is so stupid it's funny and that would sum up these movies. The acting isn't too bad in the first one,(it's the script that kills it) but completely goes downhill in the second as the cast is comprised of unknown "actors." I also love how the second movie is titled "Troll 2" yet there are no trolls to be found, only goblins. LOVE IT!

1 out of 5 stars Troll 2: A Lesson In How Not to Make a Movie.......2007-02-07

Every so often, something in my life occurs that so moves me that I have no other choice than to share it with those around me - good, bad or worse. In this instance, I am speaking of course about the crusty cinematic turd known as "Troll 2."

Now, I am actually a fan of bad movies. I like them. For me, there is a certain kind of charm in movies where you can see the boom mike, or where there are more plot-holes than a barrel of Swiss cheese. But every now and then, there comes along something that is so grievous, so utterly unwatchable that it causes me intense emotional distress and sometimes actual physical pain and/or uncontrollable vomiting. Such is the case with Troll 2. I went into this half expecting something related to the first movie, "Troll" which is actually watchable. Not so. First, Troll 2 has nothing to do with trolls. Not only are there no trolls in this film, but no one even mentions the word "troll" at all. Instead, we see glances of the film's protagonists, a lot of dwarves with badly formed latex masks (called "goblins" in the "film") and a hideous, frightening terrible out-of-work community theater refugee that's supposed to be their mother of sorts. I say hideous, because at one point she takes off her "witch" makeup and transforms into what is supposed to be an alluring vixen in an attempt to seduce an underage teenager - that's when the term hideous applies. The special effects, if they can be called that, are cast-offs from garage projects of local sci-fi fans and junior high school prop rooms. The acting is, across the board, the worst I have ever suffered through. It's obvious no one knew their lines, and were just a step away from reading cue cards. In fact, there were a few instances where they did just this. Words like "stilted" and "wooden" and "amateurish" would be kind descriptions indeed.

But I've teased you long enough. You want to know what the plot was, right? Well, dammit! So do I! There wasn't one. The closest I could ascertain was this: A kid starts having hallucinations about his dead grandfather, who comes to his bedroom each night to read him gory tales of medieval people whose scalps explode when nasty goblins (who actually disguise themselves as beautiful women with painted-on freckles) trick them into eating tainted ice cream, which turns them into plants. So the goblins can eat them - the people. Because they (the goblins) are vegetarians. Anyway, the boy's parents plan a sort of "Trading Spouses" trip to a small town called Nilbog (goblin spelled backwards - point beaten about our face and neck several times throughout the film) Upon reaching said Nilbog, the boy discovers that the town is really the kingdom of the goblins in human guise. In the meantime, his older sister who is dying to lose her virginity has manipulated her boyfriend to follow them to the town in a Winnebago. Then it gets confusing. One of boys meets a hot chick running through the woods, being chased by goblins. They run to a church inhabited by a witch. Witch turns girl and boy into plants - goblins eat girl - save boy for later. His pals never miss him. At this point, we are introduced to some side plot involving spoiled milk that I never understood. Another teen runs to the grocery store - all they have is spoiled milk for sale. He gets some, and stumbles upon the church - sees his friend standing in a flowerpot. Witch returns, kills flower pot boy with a chainsaw and kills spoiled milk boy as well.

Meanwhile, the family has run out of food - they go into town to buy groceries and get the same spoiled milk shtick. Upon returning home, all of the goblin people have showed up and they have a hoedown with lots of food. In the meantime, the young boy who sees his dead grandfather is captured and the attempt to force feed him the goblin ice cream, but he's save in the nick of time. Back at the house, the boy friend and the rest of the family enjoy the musical stylings of the goblin-people square dance quartet while the dead grandpa breaks out of a mirror and scares the whore-sister. They have a long fight with the goblin people. The witch returns to the last teen watching a movie in the Winnebago. Oh, how I longed to be watching whatever that was on the TV in the camper, which happened to be a movie about a chimp in a tutu that could fly with sparks flying out of the tutu. Anyway, the witch comes, now as what we are supposed to interpret as a sexy seductress. brandishing an ear of corn that she intends to use to entice her last young victim. To do what, we can only guess. They make out and the ear of corn turns to popcorn, engulfing the lad and frightening away the witch. Got is so far?

In the epic final battle, the goblins and witch are defeated when dead grandpa and the rest of the family put their hands on the rocks of Stonehenge, which happens to be in the witch's house. All is well. Not quite. The goblins show up again at their real home, change the mother into plant matter, eat her and offer some to the boy. Neat huh? No! It's an hour and a half of my life I will never get back. I could have been unclogging the toilet or cleaning the gutters or some other interesting chore. I have never warned anyone away from a movie before, but this is something I must do. You might be thinking that my colorful description makes it sound like something that might be tolerable, but don't be misled. DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! No really, spend the time reading some cereal boxes or something.

5 out of 5 stars Best Worst Movie Ever.......2007-01-10

Troll 2 is by far the best worst movie in the world. If they gave out awards for the most horrible acting in a film, Troll 2 would win. This movie is fantastic if you want to have some friends over, have a couple drinks, and laugh at the awesome storyline and beautiful scenes. Remember, Just because it is called Troll 2, doesn't mean it has a single Troll in it.

The imaginative work of director Koichi Mashimo and his artists make .hack//Roots a stand-out: when Shino is attacked by Tri-Edge, her avatar seems to bleed data in a striking visual. As a group of small-time PKs attack Haseo, the music shifts from the Queen of the Night's aria in The Magic Flute to a Japanese pop tune via a harpsichord bridge. 5 out of 5 stars A Toddler And His Dad Recommend "Dragon Tales".......2005-03-18

After "Blue's Clues" and "Bob The Builder," this is my 2-year-old son's favorite TV show on DVD. It may take a few episodes to appreciate "Dragon Tales," which was jointly developed by the folks at Sesame Street and Sony Pictures. "Dragon Tales" focuses on different ways to deal with emotions and interpersonal issues. The animation for this series is basic but effective. One of the more subtle aspects of "Dragon Tales" is the way it introduces classical music - the musical score is entirely performed by a "concert band" with full brass and woodwinds sections.

      5 out of 5 stars Again Again!.......2005-01-15

Once again, PBS has scored a hit with this Dragon Tales DVD. Like most of the others, it has continuous play and play all, very convenient for parents. My son is 2 1/2 and this is his favorite show, he will sit and just laugh and tell me about the show. As soon as its over, he shouts "again again" and we pop in the DVD. I haven't watched each of these episodes yet with him, this is his newest DVD, but he likes it as much as the others. These 5 episodes are suppoed to teach kids to trust in their abilities and take on new challenges.
