Though marketed as a raunchy teen sex comedy à la Porky's, Just One of the Guys is an amusing and well-acted comic riff on gender roles. Believing that she's lost a journalism contest because she's a woman, high school student Joyce Hyser disguises herself as a boy in order to see how the other half lives. Her investigation leads her to discover some interesting truths about how men and women treat each other in social and romantic situations. The screenplay by coproducers Jeff Franklin (a veteran TV scribe) and Dennis Feldman nicely balances the sex-driven gags with more character-driven material, which is well delivered by Hyser, Clayton Rohner as her eccentric pal, and especially Billy Jacoby as her perpetually aroused brother; the capable cast also includes Sherilyn Fenn and Arye Gross. Eighties music fans should also appreciate the soundtrack, which features tracks by Berlin, Lindsay Buckingham, and the Stooges. --Paul Gaita

Joyce Hyser a guy. come on.......2007-09-12

I enjoyed this movie although it's hard to think anyone could mistake Joyce for a guy even before the breast baring scene, which rates 5 stars ( Joyce has said that scene haunted her for the rest of her career which is a shame because she's a decent actress, see LA Law). The movie is filled with typical characters you find in these teenage flicks. A very young and starting out Sherilynn Fenn is in it trying to become Joyce's love interest. The actor who plays Joyce's younger brother does an excellant job and is quite funny. If you like teenage flicks you'll enjoy this if not run don't walk away from it.

I ORDERED THIS MOVIE BECAUSE OF "SHE'S THE MAN" WITH AMANDA BYNES. MY DAUGHTERS LOVE THAT MOVIE AND I WAS TELLING THEM ABOUT THE ORIGINAL "JUST ONE OF THE GUYS". WELL I WOULD NOT HAVE LET THEM WATCH IT IF I HAD WATCHED BY MYSELF AGAIN FIRST! IT SHOULD HAVE A "17" RATING. I NEVER REALIZED AT 20 HOW MUCH SEXUAL CONTENT THERE IS! NOW AS A MOM AND WATCHING WITH MY 12 AND 8 YR OLD I WAS SKIPPING THROUGH SCENES! LIFE HAPPENS!

When I was a teenager this was a great movie, however today you do not see movies like this with like a great story lines... great movie, great price.....

This is a GREAT movie. It's an 80's take on women's rights and how one girl challenges the gap between the roles. She learns it's not always easy being a guy especially when you have two lives to live. It's a great movie.

I used to watch this movie all the time when I was in junior high school. I loved it. It's a great flashback to the 80's movie.

I had fun watching this move. It's to bad Corey Haims carrier
has fallen and this is when his carrier started to fall but
Just One of the Girls is funny and fun, but the funny parts in the move don't come rite away but it's there. But I was surprised and kind of excited to see Alanis Morissette in the movie.

Just One Of The Girls is a fun movie that will make you laugh. Corey Haims character starts to get bulleyed at school, and after many attemps to make peace with the bully fail, he takes matters in to his own hands. He figures the only way to stay at the same school, yet not be recognized by the bully is to dress as a girl. Now things seem to work fine until he gets this huge crush on a girl who has taken him under her wing. Now the girl also happens to be the bullys sister. This is a silly movie based on the earlier movie titled JUST ONE OF THE GUYS. You will also see then teen pop star Alanis Morissette as the singer. I do recommend this fun movie, and can't wait till they release License To Drive on DVD which also stars Corey Haim which is a hilareous movie as well.
