Product Description

Barely out of their teens when they got together, Matt and Khym spent many years generously taking care of others instead of concentrating on themselves. Now in their thirties, Matt and Khym are taking the time to rediscover the joys of married life and married sex.

"Director Tony Comstock shows what it looks like when two people who are in love have sex. It's beautiful--the antithesis of shapeless, boring porn in which everyone is just going through the motions." -- Oprah Winfrey's O Magazine

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A loving and sexually honest, real couple.......2007-08-24

Matt and Khym is a wonderful introduction into the joys of married sex. When you look at this movie, you can see the genuine love Matt and Khym have for each other. Matt and Khym are so candid in talking about their life in and out of the bedroom that you come away feeling like they could be your next door neighbors or close friends. The scene at the end of their lovemaking when Matt looks lovingly at Khym is the way any girl would want her guy to look at her. I replayed the promo at Tony Comstock's web site over and over again, just to see that look.

This is definitely not your typical porn movie. Half of the movie involves talking interspersed with clips of their love making. I recommend couples watch the whole movie in the living room, and then move on to the bedroom.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and believable.......2007-06-17

This is the first of the Comstock movies I've seen, but it absolutely won't be the last. This really is something different - "documentary" erotica, about a real couple not so different from anyone else.

The first half of the movie features the two talking to a silent, unseen interviewer. They describe their relationship, from the time they met, to their wedding (surprisingly like my own), through years of a complex and full home life. Throughout, they describe the career of their physical relationship at each period. It comes across as happy and a bit ordinary - I like that, it creates a kind of comfort with the couple that I don't have good words for, and teases me into caring about them.

The interview is broken into segments of a few minutes each, interleaved with moments from their bedroom love-making. That seems natural, too, the kinds of activities and positions I've enjoyed rather than bizarre contortions to create some camera angle. The interview ends about halfway through the movie. At that point, the bedroom scene restarts, then plays beyond what we saw in the first half. Because the interview made the two seem more real, my own arousal comes from theirs as if they're sharing it with me - not vicarious or voyeuristic, but friendly.

If you've been put off by adult films in the past, you probably had good reason: negative tone, forced activities and pacing, and people that look like plastic and sound worse. There's none of that here. It's warm, private, and above all happy - and isn't that what a love life should be?

5 out of 5 stars Tony Comstock is better than ever with his latest glimpse behind the couple's door.......2007-04-05

Tony Comstock is the creator and master of a new genre of films: explicit couples' sexuality documentaries. Comstock states that "intent to arouse" is often cited as the dividing line between art and porn. Of all the emotions a director might hope to induce in an audience, arousal remains the last taboo, and Tony Comstock takes it head-on.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever is an affirmation of married love and sexual exploration. The pair got together in their early twenties, and now after over a decade of marriage, the spark is still there. Comstock's other films feature a porn couple, a hip New York pair, and young gay lovers, so this look at married love is an exiting new angle in his series.

Amazon also carries Comstock titles Marie & Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), and Xana & Dax (an older blonde and her Brazilian lover). I only wished they also carried his first-rate gay male feature Damon & Hunter.

5 out of 5 stars Hooray for love!.......2007-02-19

Matt and Khym are a beautifully sexy, real life couple and I was completely charmed as I listened to them tell their story in the documentary style interview that opens this wonderful film and totally captivated to witness their lovemaking in the erotic scene that followed.

They seem to enjoy themselves in front of the camera in a way that welcomes us as viewers into their intimate life and into their bedroom with a disarming frankness that's become a trademark of Tony Comstock's films. As a result, this lovely film has been welcomed into my own bedroom on a number of occasions!

Not only do Matt and Khym shine and bubble over with a tender enthusiam for each other that seems to make them literally sparkle, but the film itself has the most beautiful lustre. It has a look that lends weight to the idea that love, sex, pleasure and intimacy are indeed important and special and wonderful. With his distinctive style, Tony Comstock has once again cleverly combined visual beauty, sexual heat, genuine chemistry, sympathetic characters and compelling real life stories into an erotic, well crafted film that I'm delighted to recommend.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever, just like all the other sexy Comstock Films I've enjoyed, was a real pleasure to watch alone and a great joy to share with a lover. It's sex filmed with grace, style and skill, with respect for the lovers and for the viewer.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever shines!

5 out of 5 stars Utterly Beautiful.......2007-02-15

I was so moved and delighted by this DVD that I emailed Tony Comstock to tell him that as soon as I got done watching it. For those who have misgivings about the content or quality of mainstream porn, this offering from Comstock may be just what you're looking for in that it is genuine, heartfelt, and sexy. For those like me who do delve a fair amount into mainstream porn, I recommend Matt and Khym as a magnificent and refreshing testament to how hot the depiction of genuine sex in the context of obvious true love can be. Very highly recommended.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting.......2007-09-07

First, I want to say that the slurping and kissing noises are way too overpowering in this documentary. The second thing is that this didn't make me think AT ALL. It was stereotypical and the guys really didn't turn me on in the slightest. If you really want a movie that makes you think and follows this sort of genre, then get "Short Bus".

5 out of 5 stars Damon and Hunter.......2007-08-04

I purchased this fantastic DVD just from reading the advertising and review. I absolutely loved it. Finally my voyeurism was rewarded with, as Tony Comstock so aptly put it, 'real sex.' I am one of the few people in the world that wonders how anybody 'gets off' on commercially produced porn...it defies my sexual sensibilities.

5 out of 5 stars Hands down my favorite Comstock title (and all of his titles are first rate).......2007-04-19

I bought all of Comstock's collection at the urgings of the editorial team over at the Feddy & Eddy website. Comstock is a genius, and Damon and Hunter is my hands-down favorite of all his titles. For reference, his other titles include Marie and Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), Xana and Dax (an experienced NY blonde and her younger Brazilian lover), Matt & Khym (a 30-something married couple), and Ashley & Kisha (a lesbian couple). Damon and Hunter is the story of two gay male lovers, and I encourage viewers of any sexual orientation to pick this one up. I'm a heterosexual female and I can assure you that both my partner and I enjoyed this one.

Damon and Hunter found one another as roommates in New York City, and started a sexual relationship before their romantic one. One is a Canadian from a family in which they gays outnumber the straights, and the other was raised as a tried-and-true Southern Christian. In the first half of the film, they discuss their love life, attraction, relationship history, and personal turn-ons in frank terms. Who actually doesn't enjoy anal action during stimulation? Was one worried about handling the size of the other? What are their rules for outside guests in the bedroom? The second half of the movie is movie is pure intimate action.

The DVD comes complete with a bonus track showing alternate camera angles, including an optional audio commentary from Tony and Peggy Comstock. The camera angles would be of interest to cinematography students, but for the casual fan, I recommend sticking with the terrific editing job Comstock did for the main film. The audio commentary contains insights about how Comstock finds his subjects (I guess you can find someone to do anything on Craigslist) and his movie-making strategy. Buy this film to enjoy again and again, both as a documentary piece and as erotic cinema, and look to the audio commentary and previews of other titles when you want to go deeper.

While My Big Fat Greek Wedding broke box-office records in 2002, Real Women Have Curves did a better job of keeping it real. Set in the vibrant environs of East Los Angeles, with a breakthrough performance by Latina newcomer America Ferrera, this comedic drama takes a familiar subject--a bright teenager struggling to define her identity--and turns it into an authentic celebration of feminine empowerment. Eighteen-year-old Ana (Ferrera) has scholarship potential, her first boyfriend, and a chubby figure that her similarly overweight mother (Lupe Ontiveros, perfectly cast) won't stop harping about. Mom insists that Ana work in her sister's dressmaking sweatshop, continuing a family tradition that can only break her spirit. How Ana defies this fate--and how director Patricia Cardoso captures the proud tenacity of several full-figured seamstresses--is what makes this film (adapted from a play by Josefina Lopez) so uniquely refreshing. Greek Wedding made more money, but Real Women--which is just as funny--makes a lot more sense. --Jeff Shannon

Description

A $6 million box office theatrical run followed awards and acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. Should Ana leave home, go to college and experience life? Or stay home, get married, and keep working in her sister's struggling garment factory? It may seem like an easy decision, but for 18 year-old Ana, every choice she makes this summer will change her life. Right now, she may be making clothes for less shapely women. But Ana is about to discover that real women take chances, have flaws, embrace life, and above all have curves!

It is America Ferrer at her finest. Anyone with old fashioned hispanic parents can relate to her. Highly Recommended!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Fun Movie!.......2007-05-07

I loved this movie....it is exceptionally well acted, witty, with a smart and biting script. Though it's technically a "chick flick", I think men would enjoy it also (although maybe not admit that). I saw it on television and liked it so much I wanted to see the unedited version. You can never go wrong with a movie made by HBO, and is something that you will want to pull out of the drawer and watch again and again.

5 out of 5 stars Portrayal Seems Genuine !.......2007-04-11

Great movie for all ages. This film is very enjoyable and it can be appreciated by any age group. Laughed through most of this mainly upbeat film.

Characters are portrayed very authentically and believable.

Nothing too far fetched (except maybe the underwear dancing factory workers), though that was a hysterical scene.

Loved it !
Recommend it !

4 out of 5 stars The Mother-Daughter Thing.......2007-03-27

I liked this movie a lot. It's not a powerhouse, it's what I think of as a "whisperer." I watched it months ago, and there are some particular moments that keep playing in my mind, still, because I could really feel them. I'm far from being a Latina, but I love Latino/Mexican/Central American culture, so I watched this movie expecting it to be aimed at an audience much younger than me. I love "Ugly Betty" and thought seeing America Ferrera in one of her movies would be interesting. There were several mother-daughter scenes in this movie which really brought forth long-buried memories of exchanges with my own mother, moments where you realize how uncomfortable you're making your mother and you can't help it. As an adult I realize what those moments were, and they don't seem so large and terrible now, but at the time they were. This movie brought them back into focus and made me realize the importance of growing up, of becoming your own person, and the necessity for every daughter to have the courage to "step over" their mother and become herself. It's interesting to watch Ana come through the process and finally realize how HARD her family works to make her able to take that step over. On another note, I am appalled and disappointed at how many fans of Ms. Ferrera have posted on various sites that they love her, love that she's not the usual lookalike skinny stick-insect, and then finish their post with something like, "she'd be prettier if she'd lose weight." It's mean and false. This movie also made me go back and watch "The Joy Luck Club" again, another excellent mother-daughter reflection.

5 out of 5 stars Great Gift to Women of All Sizes & Aspirations.......2007-03-09

It is so wonderful to have a film about women learning to just be who you are, regardless of class background and/or size. A great story of accepting yourself and others, and demanding that you be accepted for who and what you are.

The popular children's books by Mary Norton have been filmed before, but never with as much imagination and ingenuity as you'll find on display in this delightful fantasy film released to critical praise in 1998. The "Borrowers" of the title are a family of tiny people who live in the walls and under the floorboards in the homes of "normal-sized" humans; they earn their by "borrowing" the household items (string, food crumbs, buttons, etc.) needed to furnish their tiny hiding places and provide their meals. The little Clock family lives happily undisturbed in the home of an aged aunt, but when the aunt dies and her will is stolen by an unscrupulous lawyer (John Goodman), the Clocks face eviction and the frightening hazards of the outside world. Under the ingenious direction of Peter Hewitt, this simple, straightforward movie mixes comedy, adventure, and suspense with some of the cleverest special effects you've ever seen, taking full advantage of effects technologies to immerse you in the world of the tiny people. A climactic chase scene in a milk-bottling plant is a visual tour de force, and the movie's smart and dazzling enough to entertain parents and children alike. After its modest success in theaters, The Borrowers stands a good chance of becoming a home-video favorite. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The Borrowers--Good entertainment.......2007-05-09

If you have a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon, and everyone's sitting around looking dejected and bored, here's what you do. Make a huge bowl of popcorn, drag out the old blankets and make a tent on floor in front of the TV. Pop in "The Borrowers," and snuggle with each other.

It's a wonderful movie with just enough good-guys-and-bad-guys, suspense, adventure, and laughter for all ages.

The Borrowers are little people. Really little. About the size of mice, really. They live in the walls and under the floors of a house, co-existing with humans who never can figure out where stuff goes missing. The humans are being evicted by a greedy bad guy (a lawyer) who wants to make a condominium. The Borrowers take an interest and help the humans to save their home.

Great fun for everyone! I highly recommend "The Borrowers."

4 out of 5 stars this is a good movie.......2007-03-24

This is a good movie and it came very quick.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed.......2006-11-10

I had read The Borrowers in a magazine installment with my Great Grandmother. Then, I could hardly wait for the next month's magazine installment to arrive. I then reread the books with my daughter [who is now 32 years old] when she was about 12 years old. We wanted to share this DVD of The Borrowers with her son, my 4 year old grandson. That is why I purchased this item. We FORCED ourselves to watch almost half of the DVD, and then we all said, "Yes, let's shut it off." And we haven't watched any more of it. This new version is very contrived, with not much connection to the original story! I would like to perhaps buy a copy of the old original version sometime, but this version has soured me for a while on The Borrowers.

4 out of 5 stars wonderful tale.......2006-03-19

This is a wonderful interpertation of the book. Very entertaining. My only complaint is the muted lighting but that is minor. Acting, costumes, excellent.

4 out of 5 stars borrowers review.......2005-10-15

The borrower is a good movie I think it is cool to watch. It is about tiny people that borrower from humans. They aren't supposed to be seen and a young boy tries to find out why his things go missing. It is good because you can watch it over and over again and not get board.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars For fun this time, not profit.......2007-08-31

Comstock does it again, presenting a brief and enjoyable documentary about one couple's love life. The entire presentation takes about forty minutes. Marie and Jack introduce themselves in the first half, talking about how they met, the challeneges of balancing work against their home life, and about their real devotion to each other and to their marriage. Their discussion includes a few physical details of their sex play, illustrated by cuts between the interview and a scene in their bedroom. (I just wish Jack wouldn't interrupt her so much - that really grates on me.) The second half of this study presents a longer look at their lovemaking, including the moments from shown in the interview. The lovers are clearly there for each other first, and for the camera second if at all.

This is what erotica is supposed to be, and so very rarely is. It shows a loving moment between a loving couple, generally doing things that I'd enjoy with my own beloved. After the interview at the start I feel that I know them, at least a little. I want to see them happy together, and that includes delighting each other sexually.

The unusual thing about this handsome couple is that they work as actors in the adult film industry, and generally work with other people. This leads to odd moments on the set, such as when some adult actor is introduced to Jack just before getting physical on camera with Jack's wife, marie. It also leads to some odd moments at home, thinking about how to act natural with each other after acting out exaggerations of other people's fantasies all day on the set. Maybe "acting natural" itself is an act for them - and maybe putting that concious effort into what the other wants isn't a bad thing.

Explicitly sexual videos are easy enough to find. Videos with genuine affection, gentle tone, and people you can care about are painfully rare, though. Jack and Marie give just that, the kind of erotica that sensitive viewers can whole-heartedly enjoy.

2 out of 5 stars Save your money.......2007-07-07

I'm surprised by these glowing reviews. They inspired me to buy the film, but I found the film itself deeply uninspiring. I bought it to watch with my boyfriend-- and we're new to couples' porn, so I wasn't after anything too intense-- but it was 28 minutes (28 minutes for $24!) and astoundingly dull. The commentary between the husband and wife is interesting for a glimpse into the real life of people in the porn industry, but neither their conversation nor the sex scenes are arousing to any notable degree. Mainly, as another reviewer wrote, they talk about the relatively "vanilla" nature of their home sex life, and about the corresponding intimacy. They seem to love each other and enjoy the sex, but, as a viewer, there isn't much to be excited about. I certainly won't buy any other Comstock films, despite the giddy reviews, and I'm returning this one.

5 out of 5 stars Tony Comstock invents a new genre of intimate, arousing documentaries starring real couples.......2007-04-05

Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story marked Comstock's creation of the genre. Marie and Jack are a husband and wife pair who met while the both worked in the porn industry. Both are still active in the industry, and their on-screen antics are completely separate from what goes on behind their bedroom door. In intimate conversation, they reveal the ins and outs of their marriage and love life. They delight in the fact that their home sex life is relatively vanilla, with a few key positions and some signature moves that each knows turns the other on.

When Marie and Jack agreed to star in this documentary, they made a pact not to edit their sex life for the camera, but to create a revealing and intimate portrait of their life in the bedroom. This is the hands-down winner for any couple looking to watch erotic film together, and Comstock offers a number of other titles in this series for viewer who get hooked on the idea. Matt & Khym and Xana & Dax are two titles available from Amazon. I only wished they also carried his first-rate gay male feature Damon & Hunter.

5 out of 5 stars The search pays off!.......2007-03-26

A couple of years back I went seeking sexy films I might watch with my husband - something fun and erotic that we could share. Having trawled through acres of trite, poorly crafted, not very inspiring videos and on the verge of giving up the search, I had the luck to find Tony and Peggy Comstock and Comstock Films. I've been a fan ever since - hence the reviews!

Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story, from director Tony Comstock, has been talked about a good deal and justifiably cooed over since its release in 2003. Reviewers one by one have succumbed to the film's charm. They've no doubt been beguiled, like I was, by the fresh faced enthusiasm that Jack and Marie demonstrate for each other, engaged by their good natured humour and captivated by witnessing the intimacy and pleasure of authentic sex between this real life couple, all skillfully captured buy a clever filmmaker.

As I discovered on my search, Marie and Jack seems to represent a rare find in explicit erotic material -- a film that truly celebrates sex as a joyous, intimate connection between people and does so in a way that clearly reminds us of why beautiful lovemaking is so enthralling and pleasurable to watch. I highly recommend this film.

Tony's other films including Xana and Dax: When Opposites Attract (Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series) are all a pleasure to watch.

5 out of 5 stars What a sex film should be.......2007-03-12

Along with his wife Peggy, filmmaker Tony Comstock makes a name for himself in filming real couples having sex. These are not the horrible "amateur" films one can find everywhere on the internet, but lovingly filmed and beautifully lit near-documentaries of couples who genuinely enjoy each other. "Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story" was the first Comstock film, and if you have high standards for erotic films you won't be disappointed.

The couple--Marie Silva, a porn actress who works under the name of Aria, and her husband Jack Bravo, also a porn actor--talk frankly about their relationship and how their sex life intermeshes with their professional lives. Interspersed with their interview are the sex scenes. Despite their professions neither Marie nor Jack look like typical porn stars--they're good-looking, but not gorgeous; there are no fake breasts or painted faces or overly buff bodies or bad fake tans. About the most outrageous thing to be seen on either of them are Marie's silver-painted nails! The chemistry between them is palpable, which makes the sex scenes scorchingly hot. There is no overdone moaning or screaming or weird positions. It is voyeurism at its most intimate, but with much better camera angles.

This is a great couples film, as well as a good introduction for the sex film neophyte. Comstock Films has released three other films since "Marie and Jack"--one, "Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever" is also available on Amazon--but "Marie and Jack" remains a sentimental favorite of mine. It's always enjoyable to watch people having sex who look like they're actually having fun. Thank you, Tony and Peggy!

This ambitious miniseries begins with Jack's descendant (Matthew Modine) and works its way backward to the story of the original young man and the beanstalk. Because the first Jack used that towering vine to steal a giant's magic goose and harp, an entire world was reduced to poverty and a bloodline was cursed--all Robinson men die in their 40s, and the modern-day Jack is around that age. Fortunately, Ondine (Mia Sara), a visitor from the giant's alternative reality, has a plan. If she and Jack can recover the stolen items in time, they may be able to solve both problems. The made-for-TV movie boasts top stars (including Vanessa Redgrave and Jon Voight) and Jim Henson's Creature Shop's nifty special effects. Although children younger than 10 may find the complex narrative confusing and the implied violence scary, Jack and the Beanstalk is an inventive retelling that adds new life to an old story. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars Jack and the Beanstalk-The Real Story.......2007-07-12

We loved the story shown from a different angle, well acted and good filming. Smaller children may find it a bit frightening and too long but all the older family members really enjoyed it very much.

4 out of 5 stars Jack goes back!.......2007-06-08

This was a fun movie that Hallmark Entertainment put out for family TV. The graphics in the modern day "giant land" were excellent and the story takes a surprising twist as the movie goes on (although Jack's friend and advisor turned out to be somewhat predictable). Probably not a good choice for small kids, although my five year old enjoyed it. She has older brothers who watch Star Wars movies and others of that ilk, so this was probably pretty tame for her. The giant and a small amount of insinuated violence might be a little scary for some little ones, but others might do just fine. I give it a B+.

5 out of 5 stars Jack in the Beanstock the Real Story.......2007-05-13

A must see. Story is really intreging and fun.

5 out of 5 stars Better than the fictional version.......2007-05-05

Really.... a must have for the characters, scenery and up to date plot.

4 out of 5 stars A cool twist on an old tale.......2007-03-21

This movie has been a favorite of my family since it first aired. I love how they tie in financial responsibility and an old fairy tale. The twist making the giant the good guy was and showing Jack for the theif he always was is great. I love Vanessa Redgrave's part; her ability to show dignity on screen was clear. Jon Voight's comedic side was also apparent in his role.

That said, the plot is very slow, particularly in the beginning. I also think the ending was a bit abrupt. Personally, I would have liked to see more of the giants world. Overall, though, I would definitly recommend this to families with kids over 8 (younger children may not have the attention span needed for the slow plot).

Product Description

Comstock Films offers a new vision of couples' sexuality in this groundbreaking series of documentary-style features of real-life lovers. Xana and Dax are a study in contrasts: she's blonde and buxom, he's dark and lean; she's got life experience, he's younger and eager to learn. Now you can get to know this exuberant husband and wife in a uniquely intimate way.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The real deal........2007-09-14

I hate porn, but I love this film. Xana and Dax's relationship dynamic is so different to any other erotic work I've ever seen. Xana, for all that she's a colorful woman, has kind of an EarthMama quality. When she talks about Dax and their relationship, there's a warmth and generosity that maybe you wouldn't expect at first glance (more on that later, because another reviewer said some things that I really disagree with.)

Dax is sweet and vulnerable talking about how shy he was when they met, and then you can see his confidence grow as he describes what being with Xana has been like for him--not just sexually, but in every aspect of their lives. They seem to really take care of each other and that's evident when they make love. It's so cool to see a woman who is not a twig feel confident about putting her body in positions I think a lot of us feel self-conscious about (hey, I've had two kids.) It's like Xana knows her husband thinks she's amazing, and that's the thing that matters. Far from being "offputting", Xana's appearance was reassuring to me -- you don't have to be a perfect size 2 to get on top! I also liked that Dax wasn't invisible here. This was a *couple* making love.

Another reviewer downgraded this film for what seem like some really odd things. It makes me wonder if he(?) watched the interview. Yes, Xana has a flashy appearance, but focusing on the fact that she dyes her hair blonde or whatever is rather wildly missing the point here. How can you listen to her talk and come away feeling anything but warm towards her? And given her real curves and natural boobs (that actually move around) I was left looking at the way Xana styles herself and thinking: you go girl! I wish I had that kind of confidence. ::shrugs:: To each his own, but I'm a middle-aged jeans-and-sweatshirt wearing mom, and I thought Xana was awesome, and even a little inspiring. (To be shocked that this couple has done some other erotic work together also seems weird to me--obviously they're exhibitionists! I don't understand how that's even relevant to what *this* film is about.)

Anyway, I think Xana and Dax (and all of the Comstock series) would be a terrific choice for the "adult film neophyte"--or people like me who've seen porn and dislike it. If you're looking for something truly different, give this one a try!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!.......2007-09-13

I was hesitant to buy Xana and Dax to watch with my wife for obvious reasons. Watching an erotic film seems like it should be a fun way to get things going, but the few times we've tried it we ended up just feeling dirty and sad. Xana and Dax was just SPECTACULAR. It delivered in every way - the story was sweet, the sex was hot and it left us both in a frisky mood and ready to have fun! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to add some spark to their relationship!

2 out of 5 stars A bit misleading.......2007-09-11

Tony Comstock's films are labeled "Real People, Real Life, Real Sex." While the "real people" and "real sex" lines are true, the "real life" ... well, that's not entirely the case, and that comes into play with his second film "Xana and Dax."

Xana is a buxom, tattooed and pierced Midwestern blonde; Dax, eight years her junior, is a slim dark Brazilian. Like Comstock's other films, the first part is the couple talking about what got them together and what they love about each other; the second part is a admittedly erotic sex scene. Unlike Comstock's other films, which seem to invite the viewer into the couple's bedroom, Xana and Dax's sex scenes take place on a dark set with a brightly lit white bed. If you Google "Xana and Dax" you will quickly learn that, as the couple in Comstock's first film "Marie and Jack" were, they are porn actors, with the difference being that they don't deal with any outside actors (unless, as per Xana's website, you count women for girl-on-girl scenes). While it's obvious they're a couple, there are also more of the conventional porn elements in this film compared to Comstock's other films, namely Xana's physical appearance, which may be offputting for some viewers. Although this was the Comstock film that "O" magazine raved about, I would be hesitant to show this to the adult film neophyte. While "Xana and Dax" is miles above your average porn in quality, it's not Comstock's best.

5 out of 5 stars In love and making love.......2007-08-16

Comstock has developed a truly enjoyable formula. The disc begins with the couple talking to an unseen interviewer. They summarize the history of their relationship briefly but spend a good bit more time talking about each other - their real love for each other, and especially for each other's bodies comes across throughout. It's something I know and value in my own life, the sense of beauty that deepens with affection. It would be easy to look at one or the other and see nothing special, until you see each through the other's eyes. My own beloved is an enchanting beauty, to me, but her beauty seems hidden in plain sight from almost everyone else.

Scenes in the interview alternate with sequences from the bedroom, illustrating points they make in the interview and setting a happily erotic mood. Then, about halfway through the disc, we switch completely to the bedroom. For the next twenty minutes or so, we follow this loving couple from their initial caresses and undressings, through the full heat of their lovemaking, to a warm, lazy moment at the very end. If you've been turned off by other "adult movies," the pervasive sense of affection and play will be a pleasant change. You may also enjoy the feeling that loving people don't have to meet some standard of plastic perfection - just being a regular person is pretty special, to someone who loves you. I don't know how to describe the tone of the movie, but I feel as if a nice couple with something to share has invited me over for a special evening. That very last frame, when Xana gazes dreamily into the camera, seems to say that she's glad that you, the viewer, could be part of what's so wonderful between them. I am grateful to them for their gentle, generous offer.

5 out of 5 stars The gold standard for a new genre of arousing, intimate documentary films.......2007-04-03

Tony Comstock is the creater and master of a new genre of films: explicit couples' sexuality documentaries. Comstock states that "intent to arouse" is often cited as the dividing line between art and porn. Of all the emotions a director might hope to induce in an audience, arousal remains the last taboo, and Tony Comstock takes it head-on.

In Comstock's award-winning Xana and Dax: When Opposites Attract, he stays true to his mission of showing flesh in the context of intimacy and love. The conversation between husband and wife is in many ways more revealing than the pure sex, as the two discuss their initial attraction, personal turn-ons, secret desires, and intimate moments. In this case, Xana, the pale blonde with a gorgeous full-color back piece, is the older and more experienced of the two. Brazilian Dax is shyer about his sexuality and reveals some of his early fears about his body hair and lovemaking style.

The DVD is straightforward and to-the-point. The first half consists of a conversation with Xana and Dax, with brief segments from their lovemaking style interspersed within the narrative. The second half is an uninterrupted bedroom session (outtakes from which are what add spice to the first half of the move). The viewer is a part of their bedroom, and at no time does it appear that the director has interrupted to give them any cinematic tips. This is raw and intimate, beautifully shot, with no exaggeration or acting.

This is recommended along with the other Comstock Films advertised on the DVD. Just watch the outtakes and you'll be rushing out to purchase Marie & Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), Damon & Hunter (a male gay couple), Ashley & Kisha (a female lesbian couple), and Matt & Khym (a 30-something married couple).

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars the classic iced caveman film...........2007-07-03

...this has to be one of the best 'caveman' films ever made. it has dated in a few places - notably 'computer game' entertainment (but hey it is set in a base in antartica, maybe they're a bit behind!!) but otherwise it stands up very solidly. Fred Schepisi directs it incredibly well with awesum photography and pace. The real win is Hutton and Lone - their performances are (i think) the best of both their careers! John Lone's make up is on the Neandertal side of cro magnon but realistic and captivating, only enhancing an electric performance. Timothy Hutton is brilliant as the misunderstood anthropologist and the cast around them is outstanding.
Overall a great example of what to expect should we ever discover an iced caveman: scientific arguements, trivial executive powerplays, moral ethics vs medical ethics, privacy abuses, and political/social mindgames! very reminiscent of the situation with Otzi the 'real iceman' whos frozen body was found in the swiss/french Alps.
A thought provoking film that hits its target - i recommend for all interested in our paleo history and our regression as a forward thinking civilization. top marks.

3 out of 5 stars Good Flick, worth the purchase!.......2007-03-12

Like many other reviewers, I saw this movie a long time ago, and remembered liking it. So for various reasons that I will not bore you with, I purchased it recently, and was not disappointed. Although the movie actually has less happening in it than I remember (meaning less events), it was surprisingly much more powerful, and much more heart-wrenchingly-sad for me this time around (or perhaps I got more sentimental as I have aged- gasp! ;-).

For many (but not all) people under 25 (the generation that I feel is mainly into special effects, and constant action (be it sexual or violent), and has less appreciation for good dialogue, acting, and plot), this movie may move too slow at times, have too little happening, and will consequently probably have them bored by the end of the movie. However if you are not in the category I mentioned above, and you have a heart that can actually feel empathy for others, and you like something that is thought provoking...If you like a film that will probably get you to reflect on modern and ancient humans, the evolution of religious beliefs, human psychology, human rights, and other deep topics, than this movie, (although it is by no means in the same league with movies like Casablanca) is a good film, and definitely worth the purchase! ...Compliments for the man who played the Iceman- great character acting!

5 out of 5 stars A Good, Honest Film.......2006-12-14

I remember watching this movie somewhere back in the early 90s on free television, when I was around 12 ("Iceman" came out when I was only 3). I thoroughly enjoyed the film then, and, even as young as I was, I was able to comprehend the meaning of the film. When I grew older, I was elated to find the movie was released on DVD. It is in my top 10 movies of all time. This is not to say it is the best movie ever; it is just one of my personal favorites. "Iceman" doesn't care about fancy special effects or all the other traps that big-budget Hollywood movies are littered with. This is one of those films that you watch when you just want to relax and enjoy a good, honest movie with some substance and some good dialogue.

Despite a few plot holes here and there, this movie is about one thing: Mans introspective search for understanding our origins. Any movie that explores that in any capacity gets a nod from me.

True, you only get the movie on this release. There are no bonus features or menus of any kind, but I believe a review should be based mainly on how good the film is or isn't. With that said, let's hope they release a special version in the near future.

1 out of 5 stars This DVD is in Pan & Scan not Widescreen.......2006-11-30

A very good story and movie. Ruined by releasing it in Pan & Scan. I ordered it but did not notice the
version was the chopped up "full screen" version. I won't even bother to send it back. It goes in the trash along
with any movie that is not in it's original, uncut, widescreen format. What a waste of a good movie.

5 out of 5 stars iceman.......2006-03-10

very good movie to view and deals with alot of emotions on the treatment of a human being no mater what time period he came from. if you care for people and understand what the scientists were trying to do to help further science to help mankind.

you must remember a human being has rights in a modern society that has passed through alot of history of abuses of thouse rights. case point adolf hitler and the jewish people. there are always concequences for what society or one goverment thinks is for the betterment of man kind. this movie brings you to that point where it shows hes more human instead of a gini pig.

Interactive play is crucial to infant development and, like most infants, young puppet Eebee loves to learn by doing with the help of his animated caretaker Kristy. Eebee explores everyday objects like rice, crumpled paper, a cardboard box, and a variety of balls by touching, waving, pushing, and ripping to explore ideas like cause and effect, taking turns, and pre-math skills like more and less, empty and full, and big and little. Kristy is the ever-enthusiastic playmate, following Eebee's lead by noting Eebee's interest, offering encouragement, making simple games out of materials at hand, and putting the concepts being explored into words. Music abounds in the background and in songs with lyrics written by the show's producer. Footage of real infants interacting with the same materials as Eebee is interspersed throughout the program to demonstrate how children from 6 to 24 months might react and learn in similar situations. Eebee's Adventures is a product of the latest research on early childhood development and serves both as a stimulating program for infants and as a jumping off point to help new parents play with their infants in a meaningful and educational way. Bonus features include a developmental perspective by early childhood development experts (exactly the same on each Eebee program), a play by play guide highlighting the skills and developmental ages featured in each section of the program, music clips, and an interactive musical game. (Ages 6 months to 2 years) --Tami Horiuchi

My 22 month old son absolutely adores Eebee. He's been watching him for a few months now and never tires of it. He has learned so much from the videos. My only complaint would be that there are only 3 videos!

5 out of 5 stars unbelievable.......2006-04-14

my son is yonger than six months and has been watching for some time he gets absorbed by this he smiles & laughs at it as soon as it comes on we love it

5 out of 5 stars Great Ideas!!.......2005-10-07

I enjoyed all of the fun ideas for playtime that you see with Eebee and the children. It was also interesting to get to hear an analysis as to why these skills are important. I think the relaxed and fun atmosphere that the children are playing in was also inspiring. I don't always feel that relaxed atmosphere in my house, but when I am playing with my daughter (8 mos.) the way they did in the video I feel relaxed. Now I have a lot of great ideas for diverting her attention when she is trying to grab the dogs' noses!

5 out of 5 stars Our Children Were Entranced.......2005-09-10

I have two children. They both loved watching the DVD. It seemed the perfect pace and had a good mix of entertainment and education. I was never able to keep them occupied as well with Baby Einstein. Great product!!!!

My 14 month twin boys are glued to the tv when we watch Eebee together! They giggle when they see little Eebee and love when Eebee plays with the ball. As a mom, I love seeing their faces light up when we watch this DVD. A must for all- I have to get the other DVD's now too.

You'd think moviemakers would have run out of new ways of capturing the trials and joys of young love--but director David Gordon Green finds a fresh take in All the Real Girls, a bittersweet small-town romance. By leaving out the usual humdrum exposition of a courtship story, Green cuts right to the little moments that form the high and low points of a budding relationship. It's an impressionistic style aided by the wonderfully spontaneous and unpredictable acting of Paul Schneider (who also co-scripted) and Zooey Deschanel--who look like they're improvising, even though they're not. As in Green's excellent debut feature George Washington, a small town serves as an atmospheric backdrop--this place looks a couple of decades shy of the 21st century. The mosaic approach makes the film play like a collection of memories, someone's first love recalled with fondness and just a bit of regret. --Robert Horton

3 out of 5 stars Finding Love and Attempting Privacy in a Small Town.......2007-08-11

ALL THE REAL GIRLS is strange little film written and directed by David Gordon Green, an attempt to capture the claustrophobia of a small North Carolina town where finding love in the midst of an atmosphere devoid of secrets. It boasts a strong cast, has some moments of touching repartee, but in the end we are left with a lack of feeling for/caring about any of the characters. Green's fidgety camera work, jumbled scene changes, and lack of character development prevent the good points to out weigh the weak ones.

Hometown lothario Paul (Paul Schneider) is best friends with another womanizer Tip (Shea Whigham) whose sister Noel (Zooey Deschanel) returns home from a boarding school and falls for Paul. Paul and Noel do a courtship dance, the first act of a relationship that includes more talk and self-confession than physical. Tip objects to Paul's interest in his sister and this of course only fans the flame of romance. The cadre of homeboys (Danny R. McBride and Maurice Compte) watch on the sidelines as the Romeo and Juliet affair takes place. Paul's mother (Patricia Clarkson) and uncle (Benjamin Mouton) add what words of twisted wisdom they can. The love affair is the first serious relationship Paul has ever encountered and for the first time it is the girl who throws the wrench into the experience, a factor that allows the story to simply end.

With a cast that includes some truly gifted actors (Deschanel and Clarkson especially) the viewer has to reflect on why there is no true concern for anybody in the film, no screen chemistry and no charisma that would have helped make this belabored effort worthwhile. David Gordon Green is young and has some very sound ideas about film, but he needs to talk to his audiences about communication to enable him to make solid movies. Grady Harp, August 07

3 out of 5 stars alright...........2007-05-13

Intresting movie but it kinda gets slow in parts. Shipping wise it came fast and in perfect condition.

4 out of 5 stars Refreshingly simple and ethereal.......2006-11-30

All the Real Girls is a refreshingly simple story about first love with a fittingly ethereal approach to its subject. The film is about the relationship between Southern small-town Romeo Paul (Paul Schneider) and inexperienced Noel (Zooey Deschanel). An indiscretion mars their romance and some soul searching by Paul follows.

There is much to like about Schneider and Deschanel's performances, which are poignant, sad, and naked. It is especially nice to see Deschanel in a larger, more grounded role than her usual quirky supporting roles. Director David Gordon Green drops you right in the middle of Paul and Noel's courtship but reveals his characters slowly. The seemingly improvised dialogue and long cuts brings to mind Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, but less witty and talky, more emotionally raw. Some will be turned off by the film's meandering narrative structure and visual style, which has been called impressionistic (it feels more crafted than that). Indeed, Green tries hard to be unconventional and poetic, at times coming across as esoteric. But it will be thoroughly absorbing to those who want a more evocative kind of film; plus it feels pretty darn close to first love.

1 out of 5 stars Some films should just be pitched over a cliff.......2006-02-26

This movie is a long, slow, earnest melodrama about small town twenty-somethings struggling to...you know...find themselves...get somewhere...grow up...ah, hell, I have no idea, really. The movie is shot so that we are stuck in that eternal autumn that permeates most small-town melodramas. All oranges, browns, and golds. The characters meander through their lives with little direction and no visible means of support. There's a factory which none of the characters seems to work in. Zooey Deschanel plays a very confused girl who is a virgin when she starts dating Paul Schneider. Schneider is a player (that's right, all of a sudden there are at least two babes in this town that we see Schneider has, erm...pleasured. They wear professional makeup and have their hair done in New York. Or at least that is what it looks like.) He falls for Deschanel and doesn't screw her because he's a changed guy. It's his new self. So what does Deschanel's character do? She does a bad thing at a weekend party at a lake. The whole rest of the film is devoted to the pain and inchoate ramblings of Schneider and the rest of the cast, all of whose lives seem to be hopeless and in need of repeated doses of stiff, tough-sounding and superficial philosophies which, it appears, everyone can spout. Nothing like dead-end stultifying, small-town life to make a person into a wise man. The worst are the virtually tongue-tied ramblings of Deschanel. While there are moments of dimmed insight in this movie, for the most part it is self-indulgent and plodding, filled with little meaningless scenes that give it an art-house feel. Deschanel is fine as the wounded/wounding girl, Schneider is stiff, pasty, and dull as the boyfriend (he also wrote the story). He looks way too old for Deschanel which, apparently, he is.

4 out of 5 stars Sometimes Love Hurts.......2006-02-11

A Beautifully love storie in real real terms with the proper ammount of infatuation, love, pain and love after the pain, really touching "real girls" in this film is more than just an adjective or a tittle for this picture and Zooey Deschannel is the owner of the kind of personality that fits in such description with a natural charisma, some sort of intellectual charm and a beauty just a few girls have, dont miss this one if you like independent films.
