Waiting and Seeing.......2007-09-10
As much as I love 7th Heaven and want to get the entire series on DVD after being sorely disappointed by the cut scenes and horribly edited episodes on the Season 4 set, this time I am probably going to wait to buy this set, to make sure that this set has complete episodes.
Otherwise I will try to find all the season 5 episodes that I have on VHS tape and convert them to DVD. Whatever episodes I can't find, I will record them off TV instead, because even though the syndicated episodes, have cut scenes, at least the TV versions are edited in such a good way that its difficult to tell what is missing. UNLIKE on the Season 4 DVD where parts were cut off right in the middle of a sentence or just started in the middle of a scene.
I don't have much problem with removed or substituted music. But when they cut scenes - especially in such a shoddy way, I don't want to spend $30 - $40 for a DVD set like that.
Season 4 was a TOTAL disappointment. I really hope Season 5 is better. Till I know for sure that it is, I will NOT be rushing out and buying it like in the past.
Another Season.......2007-09-06
I read that Beverly Mitchell has written another which would be 12 there is a site for 7th heavens fans and that is where i read it out. I haven't seen much of season 5 so i can't wait until its released. i wish it was soon then december though. what would be awesome if the season 6 would come out right after that does.
Buzz-worthy season, that's for sure!.......2007-08-31
Most long-term fans of 7th Heaven had caught onto the show by this season in 2000-2001. Seeing Mary kicked out of the house, I had never seen this show cause so much buzz the next day (I was in high school that year) than that event! Here's to season 5!
7th Heaven's Best Season!.......2007-08-31
I am so happy to see that season 5 is going to be released this year! And just in time for the holiday season as well. This was definitely, in my opinion 7th Heaven's best season and my favorite. The show really started to 'test the waters' with more drama which I thought was a great move on their part.
I think that sometime next year we will start seeing the next couple of seasons come out as well. At least I hope we will. It really depends on how many people purchase this and the other 4 seasons of the show. Hopefully enough people will because this is one show that deserves to have every season out on DVD.
our beloved Camdens grow up and taste reality in 7th Heaven's finest hour.......2007-08-30
I always said that if the DVD manufacturers didn't get around to releasing all 11 seasons of 7th Heaven, I would be satisfied if they could just give us the first five. Well, not only is the series' (arguably) strongest and most credible season hitting stores in early December 2007 (just in time to stick it on your Christmas list if this is one of your favorites), but now that the show's run has finally been completed after 11 historical seasons, there's a good chance that the remaining 6 sets will find their way to DVD in time--and that is great news for the fans who have been loyally tuning in for all these years.
Although I continued watching this show to the very end, when the final episode officially aired in May 2007, it's the first five years that probably had the biggest impact. While Seasons 1-3 focused mainly on the young, fresh, and vibrant Camden family that we came to know and love, Season 4 started suggesting that their lives might be headed in a direction that wasn't yet pronounced in the lives of these tight-knit, generally sunny and optimistic characters. Sure, the 7th Heaven-style drama was never in short supply, but it's this fifth round that really got it down just right, creating pain and heartbreak for Eric, Annie and their 7-children brood without making it too off-the-wall (which started to happen in the show's later years, when plot ideas were scarce and repetition was forced to keep the story alive). I vividly remember this season airing on television, and being a high school sophomore at the time, it was plain to see that they had truly hit their stride, creating real-life emotion and depicting the lives of people who were good and loving Christians, yet vulnerable characters who did not always have all the answers.
The year opened in September 2001 with recent high school graduate Mary's decision to put college on hold for the time being, bumming around her parents' house and (occasionally) working for any employer who is patient enough to keep her around. "Get used to it, because I'm not going to college until I figure out what I'm going to college for," the headstrong 18-year-old tells her mother and father--and when she gets really foolish by purchasing a lavish sports car and ignoring the monthly payment bills, things get just a little bit messier. Loving mother Annie thinks it is best to coddle her through this difficult time and hope that she will eventually come to her senses, but good old Dad knows that it is not quite that simple, and as husband and wife's arguments over the situation grow more frequent, it becomes apparent that Mary's current lease on life might not be in the best interest of the entire family. As for the remainder of the Camden offspring, college student Matt may be reaching an unsettling break in his relationship with Heather, and as his current roommate moves on in his own life, Matt is forced to move back home. 17-year-old Lucy is determined to make her senior year "the best ever," complete with midriff-baring shirts (which Eric quickly remedies by stapling a blouse closed over them) and a Homecoming Queen nomination, but when her relationship with handsome Andrew doesn't work out, she builds a connection with formerly suicidal Mike Pierce, who is finally starting to piece his life back together. High school freshman Simon struggles to fit into his new surroundings, and fifth grader Ruthie (brassy as ever, but also quite a smart little cookie) becomes the first in her family to gain admittance to an elite private school.
Two-year-old twin boys Sam and David are also growing quickly and keeping the family on their toes, as toddlers tend to do, and Eric and Annie try their hardest to keep it all under control, but in the end, this entire season belongs to actress Jessica Biel, whose character undergoes a whole new metamorphosis after being arrested the previous year. Originally determined to work through these troubles and reinvent herself, Mary does what many a teenager in her exact position has done: she grows discouraged, gets stubborn, and risks losing herself to a world of laziness, deception, selfishness, and shockingly, even theft from her baby brothers' savings accounts. Oh yes, and this is also the year that we meet her new friends Frankie and Johnny, two teenage delinquents who work with Mary at the local pizza place, have a baby daughter that they can't seem to take care of, and threaten to pull once-innocent Mary into their own little land of alcohol and drugs.
The emotional power of this season is one that I could write about forever, but in short, if you enjoy this show and want to see it at its absolute best, then I would strongly recommend that you pick up this DVD. The characters are still as solid and loving as ever, but as a dramatic twist hits the plot, you get a glimpse of a real American family with real problems and intense reality to deal with on a regular basis. In addition, among this season's special guest stars are "Full House" prodigies Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who were about 15 at the time and appeared in one episode as the rebellious love interests of Simon and one of his buddies. As teenage girls on the brink of adding more spice to their careers and showing the public that they weren't little kids anymore, the Olsens appeared to have a great time playing two girls who steal from local convenience stores, run out on a restaurant check, and convince innocent Simon Camden to sneak into a nearby movie theater. In retrospect, this wasn't Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen at their cutest or most likable, but regardless of that, it's fun to revisit them when they were a little younger.
All in all, it's a season that should not be missed, and although the clean and faith-centered quality of 7th Heaven held up during all those 11 years, this right here is the Camdens in all their glory--with all the drama and success that they strived for, before Ms. Biel exited the show (at least as a regular cast member), and way before a slew of new characters clouded the plot. Also included in this collection is the show's landmark 100th episode, which chronicles Eric's birthday celebration and includes some special surprises for the birthday boy from two of his cherished daughters. It's a genuinely sweet episode and a pleasure to watch--certainly a highlight from Season 5, and perhaps one of the best in the entire series.
My opinion is that the show's downhill descent threw out its first couple of hints in Season 6, but just the same, it remained wholesome television that isn't very prevalent in today's world, and for that, let's hope that the DVD's for the last 6 seasons are not too far behind!

popular american tv series.......2007-06-17
why are these type of drama programs(7th Heaven,Gilmore Girls) slow to be made available outside of the U.S.A.,they have proved extremely in America and a such should travel well.
Great way to open communication with school age children........2007-06-02
I was hesitant to buy this show's DVDs--is it appropriate to watch with a child around? Now that I did view them, I wish there were more. The first season is our favorite, the second is next. As a mother to a ten year old girl, I got some good ideas about how to handle my child, and she got to see how good parents handle situations. There are some issues that came up in episodes that I never thought to discuss with my daughter, and so it was perfect for us to watch together. One issue per episode is shown from different points of view at the different levels of the family members -it gets one thinking. There is a bit of emphasis on dating, but that's probably what keeps people of all ages watching and it's done tastefully. These seasons have been enjoyable for our whole family.
Good for kids.......2007-05-17
I think it is another great way for kids to learn good morals and values and see how they benefit you all through your life.
Parental Guidance necessary for younger viewers.......2007-04-27
Like the idea of this show but is too melodramatic and too much dating. Children are rude with parents. Much prefer Little House on the Prairie and The Walton's.
We need more shows like this on TV.......2007-01-06
I absolutely love this show. I just feel happy after I watch an episode -- how many other shows can you say the same? My seven year old has begun to watch is with me, and I don't have to worry if the other kids come in the room. We don't have cable, so watching Seventh Heaven has become a nightly ritual in our home. Don't know what I will do when we run out of seasons. I bought season three and pre-purchased season four so we don't run out for awhile!

Unlike the Brady Bunch, the Camdens of Seventh Heaven aren't a blended family. And unlike the Partridge Family, they aren't a band. They're just a family--a large, if normal family with normal problems and concerns. A little like the Waltons, perhaps, but set in the present day. The parents are Eric (Stephen Collins from All the President's Men), a minister, and Annie (Catherine Hicks from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home), a homemaker. They live in the suburbs of Glenoak, California, with their five children: 16-year-old Matt (Barry Watson), 14-year-old Mary (Jessica Biel), 12-year-old Lucy (Beverley Mitchell), 9-year-old Simon (David Gallagher), and 5-year-old Ruthie (Mackenzie Rosman). By the end of the pilot ("Anything You Want"), they'll add the dog Happy to their household.
Created by Barbara Hampton (Blossom) and produced by Aaron Spelling (Beverly Hills 90210), Seventh Heaven premiered on the WB in 1996 and would become its most enduring hit. It may lack a gimmick, but this heartwarming family drama doesn't lack a theme: communication. And since the Camdens are a minister's family, faith comes up often, as well, which gives the show something in common with such otherwise disparate programs as Touched by an Angel and Joan of Arcadia. Throughout 1996-1997, the Camdens would deal with many tough issues, both internal and external, including teen pregnancy ("Family Secrets"), death ("In the Blink of an Eye"), racism ("The Color of God"), spousal abuse ("What Will People Say"), and alcoholism ("Last Call for Aunt Julie"). In the years to come, the cast would have their own real-life issues with which to contend, such as Watson's battle with cancer (after taking 2003 off to recover, he would return in 2004) and the gradual loss of Biel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) to the movies. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

It all started with season 1!.......2007-05-24
I can't believe 7th Heaven has been on for 11 years. The stars (especially Catherine Hicks) have changed a lot since Season 1. I love this season. My favorite espisode is, of course, episode 1, "Anything You Want." High recommended!!!
Parental Guidance necessary for younger viewers.......2007-04-27
The story idea is good but too much dating and too melodramatic. Much prefer Little House on the Prairie and The Walton's.
Excellent.......2007-03-08
Great season. Bought it as a gift and has been watched over and over.
I am waiting eagerly for mine to arrive!.......2007-02-06
After almost a year of saving, I finally ordered my seasons 1-3 last night, I am so excited and can't wait for it to arrive. I have watched, I would say 99% of all episodes aired so far and I am eager to start them over again, as I can't remember everything that happened so long ago. I think I was in Gr. 5/6 when it started showing here (South Africa) and I was hooked...
I love the tone of the show, the values, the "down to earth" people, just everything, there are some hard issues that are delt with, but it makes you feel good all the way! I love it I love it I love it!!! This is by far the best series I have ever watched! Recommended to ALL!!
seventh heaven 1st season.......2007-01-10
I like this series as I had watched it before and I bought it so that my daughter could watch the earlier episodes which is okay as long as we watch it on the computer as it will not play on my British dvd player but I was told before I purchased it that it might not, but the series is good family viewing

Mathilde (ALIAS BETTY's Sandrine Kiberlain), a pretty, young Parisian married to a successful surgeon, is undergoing a crisis. She steals toys in department stores, faints for no apparent reason, goes AWOL from her job, and is unable to let her husband Nico (FRIDAY NIGHT's Vincent Lindon) satisfy her sexually. She is then mysteriously approached by an eccentric therapist who offers hypnosis and feng shui as a solution. Once her husbandwho is used to dealing with illness in a clinically rational and logical mannerrealizes that she has achieved a kind of metamorphosis, he begins to experience an identity crisis of his own... In this follow-up to his highly acclaimed A SINGLE GIRL, Benoît Jacquot shows a keen understanding of marital power dynamics--the funny, poignant, strange dance of two lovers growing in different directions, each at a different pace, in order to rediscover each other.
Customer Reviews:
Slow but well oriented story .......2005-08-17
Mathilde incarnated by deligthfull Sandrine Kiberlain is a troubled housewife and profesional woman that carries several issues regarding her chilhood, shes unnable to reach sexual climax with her husband Nico ( great actor Vincent Lindon, one of my faves )Nico is a very respected Doctor that doesnt give too much importance to the fact that Mathilde doesnt have intense sexual desires for him, even is kinda comfortable with the situation, Mathilde also steals little toys from stores without apparent reason and collapses ocasionally , she meets a psychologist that uses Feng Shui to help her to deal with her troubles , go deeper into her mind to let get out her bad memories from chilhood and get deshinibited for sex , all her troubles seems to disapear and Nico suspect that the reason is perhaps Mathilde is cheating on him , he tries to enter his wife world getting sessions with another psycologist too but he cant assimilate that sessions and end understanding that all as a joke, finnaly the solution is communication they doesnt have to understand completelly each other they just have to keep together and respect and love and they will maintain always a home and family

"I bumped into a man who had ears.".......2005-02-13
"Seventh Heaven", a French film from director Benoit Jacquot, is the story of a married couple, Mathilde (Sandrine Kiberlain) and her husband, orthopedic surgeon Nico (Vincent Lindon). Mathilde is a kleptomaniac, but this, like most things, escapes her disinterested and critical husband's attention. Mathilde begins experiencing fainting episodes, and after one such event, she meets a mysterious hypnotist (Francois Berleand). During lunch, he establishes her susceptibility, and he begins hypnotizing Mathilde. While in these hypnosis sessions, Mathilde uncovers memories (or possibly fantasies) regarding her childhood.
The hypnosis sessions have a remarkable effect on Mathilde, and in fact, even her husband notices that she's changed. One of the hypnosis sessions addresses Mathilde's frigidity, and Nico is particularly upset when the sexual dynamic in his marriage changes. He's so shocked, he begins to seek answers ...
"Seventh Heaven" is about half of a really good film. The story is fascinating, the acting excellent, and I was intrigued. Unfortunately, the film failed to pick up or develop several threads, and hints of some deep dark mystery are never explored. Mathilde's childhood, and her relationship with the Svengali-like hypnotist, for example, are just two of the story elements which dangle unfinished at the film's unsatisfying conclusion--displacedhuman
Mesmerising.......2001-04-10
This little known french film is no masterpiece, but those who choose to watch it will certainly enjoy themselves. Sandrine Kiberlain, most fragile and adorable, gives a lovely performance as the housewife who resorts to shoplifiting as a cry for help. She is met by a hypnotist who treats her. The hypnosis scenes are most enchanting, and Kiberlain is very lovely while "under", giving out more content to thesubject of a woman easily influenced in her acting, than in the script itself.
Vincent Lindon is well supporing as the husband who finds himself "betrayed" by his woman, who allowes someone else deep inside her mind, where he has never been.
Even if the script and the directing is conservative, the acting justifies buying this small pleasing picture.

Complete first 4 Seasons of 7th Heaven on DVD. US Version. Not an import.////The Camdens, a Christian family living in California, face the challenges of trying to live a moral life in a confusing world. Jam-packed with thinly disguised public service announcements, this show may seem very conservative to its viewers (what with its constant anti-sex and anti-drug messages, its parents' hysterical responses to their children's' misbehaviors, and its teenage female characters' fixations on getting married).
