For any fan that loved watching her swim to wonderful music - and the light heartedness that went with her movies - the enjoyable cast, music, lighthearted storylines, and happy endings...this volume is for them!

DANGEROUS WHEN WET OR DRY!.......2007-09-13

These DVDs have been beautifully transferred. The films are entertaining but it is appropriate to say at this late date that Esther Williams is a minor actress surrounded by wonderful talent and gorgeous production values. Despite her swimming prowess, she was the Britny Spears of her day.

Not disappointed.......2007-09-01

I really liked Esther Williams when her movies came on the late late show when I was a kid...These movies to me don't disappoint...I hadn't seen the one which was her first movie called "Bathing Beauty" with Red Skeleton. I really liked it...They even had an interviewed her about her life.... The extras were good as well...Overall I was very pleased with my purchase.

Esther Williams is one of the best examples of what a woman is. She should be able to be physically able, great looks, and a good actress.

Very Poor Quality.......2004-08-30

I agree with the other reviewers. Avoid this one at all costs. Picture quality is that of a VHS tape recorded at EP speed about 100 times. An insult to a very funny man's legacy.

Good old fashioned family fun.......2004-01-29

I recently watched this DVD and loved every minute of it! The entertainment, the jokes, Red Skelton is always absolutely incredible. He's got a terrific sense of humor, and can keep the laughs rolling. There's a few jokes that are intended for the parents in the audience, but they are presented in such a way that the kids don't need to be put to bed early. I loved the show where he was up with John Wayne! Keep in mind, some of these shows were made 60 years ago, or more, television has come a long way, baby! The picture quality is a bit rough compared to what we get now, same with audio. They didn't always have the great recording that's available now. I felt that the picture quality contributed to this disk, this is how anybody that watched it the first time would have seen it. Good old fashioned family fun!

Poor Quality.......2003-06-28

The video and sound was very very poor. A sad commentary on just a great man. Why include the songs. One bought this to see Red not the song and dance group. The DVD was not indexed so you couldn't skip. I wanted a DVD of his best skits. This was just some shows and not even his best. Avoid this DVD like the plague. You will be very disappointed.

Worst quality video that I have seen on a DVD !.......2002-01-23

I love Red Skelton, the VHS tapes of some of his best shows have a great quality to them, so you would think that the DVD would at least be better. Well, this DVD set has the worst picture quality I have every seen.

The only redeeming quality was seeing John Wayne with Red Skelton.

Recommendation: Don't buy.

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD.......2001-04-09

The quality of this DVD (and I use the word quality loosly) is horrible. It's worse than the worst scratchy old video tape. Red Skelton is GREAT, and seeing JOHN WAYNE in a comedy sketch was fun, however, its nearly impossible to get past the poor visual quality.Very blurry. Ugly. A real injustice to a wonderful entertainer.

I liked the first episode the best.......2006-10-11

I hope the Product information has been changed. I write this as of 10/10/06. If it still says GUEST STAR Errol Flynn, THAT"S WRONG!!! That having been said, this group of episodes from The Red Skelton Show is a delightful collection. The picture quality is as best as could be remastered from 1950's TV master print. This quality is better than a copy of "What's my Line?" that I recently purchased. The 1st episode has a young Jamie Farr playing straight man to Skelton's inept sailor character, and Buster Crabbe as their Cheif Petty Officer. Any current or former Navy man or woman will get a kick out of Crabbe's reading from the drill manual. The other two episodes have Mickey Rooney as a defense attorney defending.... you guessed it- Freddie the Freeloader, and Jane Powell (who flubbs a line) as a princess.

No captions!! No color!.......2004-11-24

Having looked at several similar products, I was excited to notice this one was advertised as closed-captioned. I thought it would be a great gift for someone who is deaf and enjoys good comedy. When it arrived, the actual product box did not mention CC so I played the DVD myself. . . no captions and it is in black and white (which was not a big deal). Having no captions makes it unsuitable for my purpose.
