Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars great rave movie.......2007-06-27

i really enjoyed this movie. if you are an ex-raver looking to relive the "glory days" then BUY IT NOW!!! there are great interviews with DJ Dan, Frankie Bones, Moby and a ton of others.the music in to movie is mostly break beats and D&B but there is also some good house/trance in it also.

2 out of 5 stars Get Modulations its a lot better...........2006-09-05

This is not very good. It's more about teenage yanks toootally raggin out and being rad dude. This is not about the music or the scene and adds nothing at all to electronic music. Christ how did the yanks go so wrong... i mean what happened to Mr.Fingers/Juan Atkins/Derek May all we get from the states now is a bunch of loved up middleclass idiots who really want to be in rock bands... ssshhesh.

Modulations is a much better film describing the progress of electronic music from Stockhausen, to its use in Jazz with Herbie Hancock and Teo Macereo, then Disco and onto to Detroit Techno and Acid House and over to England for the 2nd summer of love in 1989, then Rave, D n'B and electronica... Don't waste you time on this crap get Modulations instead...

5 out of 5 stars It's worth it!!!!!.......2003-07-11

Ok, where do I begin. This movie/documentary is probably one of the best films concerning the topic of the ever popular raves! It dives deep into the roots of the rave culture and shares MANY different points of views on this topic. You actually feel like your in a rave when you watch this video. Im so glad that I got this before it went out stock here!! But still, buy it used, or buy it new, it doesn't matter, your still going to feel this special childhood essence they call "RAVE"!!!!!

2 out of 5 stars should be called "Raving 101".......2003-06-12

this documentary takes a discovery channel approach at portraying what rave scene is about. if you've never been to a rave you might find it amusing, otherwise its just bunch of redundant stuff you've seen over and over again, with little substance. Some of the DJ interviews were cool but thats not enough to make this a worthy buy. probably the silliest part was when this girl tells you what to bring to a rave so make sure you have a pen and paper ready.
if i was going to recommend one documentary from theese series it would be "Modulations".

2 out of 5 stars not representative of the rave phenomenom.......2003-04-25

This is not a movie, in a classic sense. This is a set of interviews of dj's & promoters. I'm fine with that however the djs that participates are not the best representations of the electronic industry. Where is Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Digweed, Dave Seaman, Deep Dish , Dj Dan... and countless other famous dj's? I understand that the budget might have been too small to invite one of those dj's mentioned above for an interview or so ...but in this movie there are lots of dj's that are not that well representative of an industry that's becomming smaller and smaller. For your money's worth, buy a breakbeat dance video where you will be more entretained than a documental wanna be...

5 out of 5 stars "One world, one beat, one party, one dollar!!!".......2004-11-13

The "Spinal Tap" of DJ movies. I saw this film at a special event Drive-In premiere in Chicago and it was hilarious; I'm so happy it's finally on DVD. Go get it today!
This film is the story of two slacker brothers named Tim (Tim Scarne) and Thom (Thomas Ian Nicholas) who live in a small town trailer park in California. But have big dreams of becoming famous club DJ's in L.A. When their Uncle Marty gets hospitalized they finally get their shot to go to L.A. and DJ a party for his company; unexpectedly when they get there they find out it's a Bar-Mitzvah; not that they have any idea what that means. But while in L.A. Tim discovers there is a DJ spin off with a grand prize of $20,000. But a series of mishaps, mistaken identity, arrogant bouncers, and sneaky competition conspire to crush the brothers' dreams. In a race against time and stupidity, they learn their relationship is more important than anything. The film was co-written by the real life brother duo of Tim Scarne and Thomas Ian Nicholas. It marks the directorial debut of actor Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie 1 & 2 and American Wedding, Rules of Attraction, Rookie of the Year). The film was produced by it's star Tim Scarne. It also stars Caleb Moody, Paul Willson, Clare Kramer, and Stacy Bellew. It features cameos by some of the world's biggest DJ's: Carl Cox, Mark Lewis, Colette, Donald Glaude with special appearances by DMC and the late Jam Master Jay. This indie feature has a blazin' soundtrack of the hottest dance music including Dave Aude, DJ Dan, and Christopher Lawrence.
The DVD also has all sorts of stupid features like:
-actor/ director commentary
-forgotten scenes
-audition footage
-behind the scenes
-trailers & more
