Based on a manga by Kosuke Fujishima, Oh My Goddess! was made into a popular five-part OAV in 1993-94. Keiichi Morisato acquired the goddess Belldandy as a girlfriend in a charming, small-scale domestic comedy. The feature (2000) is set three years later: Keiichi has grown more attractive and less maladroit. Belldandy remains essentially unchanged--until she encounters Celestin, her former "mentor." Celestin rebelled against the powers of Heaven and was imprisoned. Having escaped, he wants to resume his rebellion and reformulate the universe according to his designs. The filmmakers attempt to link computer viruses with apocalyptic mythology and the relationship between Belldandy and Keiichi. Although they made an agreeably mismatched couple in the OAVs, Keiichi and Belldandy simply don't have enough depth as characters to challenge what amounts to a Lucifer figure or support such a baroque story line. Rated 13 Up: brief nudity, risqué humor, violence. --Charles Solomon

Short but sweet review.......2007-08-01
The movie and all that stuff is great, like everyone here would agree.
My only thoughts is that the packaging is a bit cheap feeling. The cover art on my DVD doesn't cover the whole case, so it looks kind of bad. No biggie, though.
i loved it.......2007-06-27
this had action adventure and romance have to see it tell you some it would ruin the movie
Such a fun little movie.......2007-05-15
It's like the chick flick of the anime world... love it!
A great animation movie.......2007-05-07
Many people complain that the story of "Ah! My Goddess" are naive,
but i loved this animation movie. The story are more well
developed than the TV series and the quality of the scenes are
better also. For the people Who believe in love.
Very good way to end a anime series with a great movie.......2007-02-10
Most of the time, all the interesting animes end on a sour note. Not Ah My Goddess. It actually rewards fans of the series with a sweet, touching movie.
Good visuals. Good music. Likable characters. Everything you want in a good movie.

In this fast-paced, sci-fi/horror shoot-'em-up based on the Dark Horse comic book, Jamie Lee Curtis plays the navigator of an ocean-going tug. When a typhoon cripples their boat, the crew sails into the eye of the storm, where they discover a high-tech Russian communications and research vessel adrift. Only one Russian crewmember is still alive, raving about "intelligent lightning." They soon discover that an alien life form has taken over the ship's computers and is churning out biomechanical warriors. With their own boat destroyed, the crew must battle the creature as the ship reenters the storm. If the basic story and characters all sound familiar, it may not surprise you that producer Gale Anne Hurd's other films include The Terminator and Aliens. This movie and its derivative screenplay aren't nearly as good as those were, and director John Bruno (who won an Oscar for best visual effects for The Abyss) seems more skilled at action choreography and special effects than character and story. Curtis plays another variation on her "scream queen" persona, while Donald Sutherland gives a deliciously hammy performance as the tug captain (in his words, "the dominant life form") who smells salvage money if he can claim the Russian ship for his own. For all the picture's flaws, the effects are good (and gory) and it moves at top speed for a brisk 100 minutes. A trivia factoid: at one point on this troubled production, film footage was seized at the airport because the shipping box was prominently marked with the film's title! --Geof Miller

Human sacrifice versus cosmic invasion.......2007-07-20
Post Cold War science fiction. No more Soviets. The Russians are not dangerous and the Chinese are not yet in the picture, not to speak of the terrorists. So danger had to come from the sky, hence from the cosmos, hence some immaterial living form, at least immaterial according to our definition of matter. They just take over any kind of communications network and have at their disposal the whole sum of human knowledge, plus theirs, and they start spreading. They take over a Russian scientific boat and then recuperate anything, computer parts, mechanical parts and human parts, to build some hybrid beings that can take the control of the ship and then go to some human harbor and invade the planet. But it all goes wrong when some real human beings decide to use their intelligence and training to destroy these hybrid beings, the extraterrestrial cosmic being behind and sink the boat. And we are really after the end of the Cold War since it is the last female Russian survivor who will sacrifice herself to slow down the main "machine" so that the two last Americans will be able to escape while her sacrifice will start the setting on fire of the ship and the blowing of it up and down into the sea. A little bit simple, though quite entertaining if you like that kind of paranoid science fiction: the human species is always menaced, from inside or from outside, and it is always thanks to the sacrifice of some who use their intelligence and know how in a creative way that the planet and humanity are saved. Paranoid and naïve. And the final couple that escape the ship is of course a man and a woman. Adam and Eve not dead yet.

The Virus Is ... , (1998 Movie).......2007-05-15
This movie is not that good, but if you're a fan of sci-fi then you will eventually have to see it like I did. Although I like the genre, fair is fair, and many other movies are better. The less you get your hopes up, the greater your chance to enjoy the movie. My fiancee, who never saw a sci-fi movie before asked me to turn this off after five minutes. We did go on to watch Aliens vs. Predator (AVP), which she loved, to give a comparison. However this, with all that being said, doesn't mean the movie won't be fun to watch.
As a trivia note, I inadvertently watched this movie back to back with AVP, and the similarities in the beginning at least were extraordinary. I presume this is due to both John Bruno on the set of both, and that both storylines were based on Dark Horse comic books.
This is a fun popcorn movie. The effects are gory on occasion and schlockey. There are the occasional presence of von Neumann machines, but are not as nearly threatening as the Replicators in the Stargate series. The movie title `Virus' works on a few levels.
Terminator on the sea.......2007-03-19
This late nineties sci-fi movie was on of my favorite sci-fi movie released in 1999 in the closing year of the 20th century. This year was the eight anniversary of the movie since it was first release. Due to high terminator 2 like violence, occasional explosions and other thematic elements gory and disturbing images, and occasionally cursing and scary situation this movie might not be appropriate or maybe questionable for kids under the age of 17 depending on what there parent's or guardians consider appropriate for there ages. In the movie a Russian space ships is attacked by an alien life form that kills everybody on the space ship then transports it's self on the ship below monitor the space ship above where every body that does not abandon the ship except for one Russian women . A week later a crew from a sinking vessel comes aboard the ship. They find a Russian women on board scared to death she tells them about a creature that occupies the ship and keeping the ships powered turned off is the only way other than destroying it to keep the alien robotic life form subdued and under control. They find out two late the truth and epic struggle of enormous portion has began. Can they defeat this high tech terror from space and his smaller robot minions find out in the dramatic thrilling conclusion.
a scary combination movie with a soundtrack to match.......2007-01-01
this dvd movie is a rare one, in that it combines the scare elements from
other dvd movies into the one, it contains elements of "robocop"
"colossus the forbin project" "the borg from startrek" and vampire movies,
all put together very well, and a cast led by jamie lee curtis, all
contribute, a very well done thriller, the DTS5.1 version is the high bit
one,
What's with all the negative reviews?.......2006-10-26
This is an excellent movie and I'm shocked at all the bad reviews. Most people compare it to Terminator. It's noyhing like Terminator! The only simalar factor is that the computers build the machines! The best thing about this movie is the alien(s?)does not take any form. It doesn't blast people with lasers or anything like that.I think this is really creative.
