Blue bounds into her first feature-length film ready to sing. She gets sidetracked along the way, of course, but that's part of the brilliant Blue's Clues formula. Each half-hour TV show presents engaging, easy-to-grasp mini-mysteries that are within toddlers' reach. This time Blue; her huge-eyed, slightly loopy human companion, Steve; and their cadre of talking-object friends are scurrying around, preparing for a backyard music show that day. Everybody picks a number to perform; Blue's is a duet with Tickety Tock, but the clock contracts laryngitis. Who will be Blue's new partner? A game of Blue's Clues reveals the hardly reluctant replacement. The standard discovery of three clues followed by the usual wind-down song would add up to a colossal disappointment in a feature film, so substantial rounding-out is provided. Steve stumbles onto a keyboard inhabited by a note called G-Clef (the unmistakable voice of Ray Charles), who gives a tour of how to make a song. First you pick the notes, then you work on rhythm, then comes tempo, and, last but not least, "you've got to give it soul." This movie's themes include perseverance (Tickety Tock can't sing but finds a way to contribute anyway) and self-empowerment. Blue's Big Musical Movie is a feast for little eyes and ears; the sets are so colorful they hurt grown-up eyes, and the songs--especially the one that gets the Charles treatment--are all sing-along-with-me winners. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars One of the best kid's movies.......2007-01-06

I had previously bought this movie on VHS, my oldest son wore it out because he watched it so much. I bought another VHS and within a few years and another child later, I finally bought the DVD. They know the songs by heart (and so do I by now) and it keeps them entertained for a while. It's a really cute movie with lots of songs and you still get to look for Blue's Clues.

My two-year-old son LOVES all of Rosemary Wells' books, but none are nearer and dearer to his heart than the Max & Ruby stories. These DVDs are those books come alive. Max is the quintessential toddler/ early preschooler, and these stories will be enjoyed greatly by those of that set (ok, and their parents too).

Fans of classic movie musicals will be in heaven with Astaire & Rogers Collection, Vol. 1, featuring the DVD debut of five films of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, the quintessential dancing duo. The two gems of the set are Top Hat (1935), generally considered their definitive movie, and Swing Time (1936), which many consider their most enjoyable. Follow the Fleet (1936), Shall We Dance (1937), and The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) fill out the set, each with its own charms.

Follow the Fleet
The Astaire-Rogers films mix light romantic comedy (usually centered around mistaken identities and ending, inevitably, in blissful wedding promises) with elegant dinner wear and surreal sets intended to transport '30s audiences away from the Depression to such locales as Rio, Paris, and Venice. The two stars are also aided by a recurring stable of RKO players such as Edward Everett Horton (master of the double-take), Eric Blore, and Helen Broderick. And then there's that sensational dancing set to great songs by the likes of Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, and Jerome Kern, numbers that are not merely entertaining but also innovative for their time in that they reveal character and advance the plot. Add it all up, and you have a recipe for an irrepressible joie de vivre that practically defines the movie musical.

With a score by Irving Berlin, Top Hat is most famous for two numbers, Astaire's definitive tuxedo setting "Top Hat, White Tie, and Tails" and the feathery duet "Cheek to Cheek." But other joys include Astaire's "Fancy Free" declaration, "Isn't It a Lovely Day," and the grand finale "The Piccolino." Favorite musical moments in Swing Time include the set-piece "Pick Yourself Up," in which Rogers "teaches" Astaire to dance before they break into a spectacular number; the farewell ode "Never Gonna Dance," and the Oscar-winning "Just the Way You Look Tonight," from the team of Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields.

Swing Time
Follow the Fleet changes the pace a bit, with Astaire playing a sailor, and it suffers from making him and Rogers the second-banana couple to the dull Randolph Scott and Harriet Hilliard. But it still has plenty of laughs and some classic Irving Berlin numbers, including "Let Yourself Go," which Rogers sings before she and Astaire compete in a dance contest; a Rogers solo tap number; "I'm Putting All My Eggs in One Basket," their best comic dance. The pièce de résistance is "Let's Face the Music and Dance," a show within a show in which the pair dons their customary evening formals. Effortlessly flowing from pantomime to song to dance, this sublime piece of storytelling is one of the series' defining moments. Shall We Dance has a complex plot that has Astaire and Rogers actually getting married before the final credits roll, and turns George and Ira Gershwin's brilliant "They Can't Take That Away from Me" into a heartbreaking ode. Other great songs include "Slap That Bass," "They All Laughed," and "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," unforgettably performed on roller skates. The Barkleys of Broadway is the oddity, reuniting the stars 10 years after their last RKO picture when Judy Garland had to be replaced due to health problems. It's trademark MGM: splashy colors, Fred in a gimmicky solo number (playing sorcerer's apprentice to a line of unoccupied shoes), Oscar Levant providing his usual dynamic pianism and acerbic personality, and a score that is at its best when it borrows songs from a previous generation (including the big ballroom number set to "They Can't Take That Away from Me"). The film falls short of their best work, but serves as a fond remembrance of the most glorious partnership in film history. --David Horiuchi

Fred Astaire is unbeatable especially when paired with Ginger Rogers or Eleanor Powell. These are older films and of course not up to modern technical standards. However the charm and the eleghance and the excellence shine through- A must for a fan or collector.

Young dinosaur friends Little Foot, Cera, Spike, Ducky, and Petrie are content with their lives in the Great Valley, but things keep changing and sometimes the friends just feel like they don't quite fit in. As Petrie struggles to perfect his flying for the very important Day of the Flyers, he realizes how different he is from his brothers and sisters and, while he and his friends value his uniqueness, it's causing big problems in the family's flight formations. Meanwhile, Cera is struggling with the arrival of a new baby sister and the resulting lack of attention from her father and Tria. When an odd creature named Guido shows up in the valley, Petrie befriends him and learns an important lesson about how to maintain his individuality while still contributing to his family's collaborative flight. A courageous act by Guido saves Cera's sister from peril, helping Cera realize how much she really cares about her new sister, and sparking a personal revelation that gives Guido a much better sense of his own place in the world. This is an entertaining animated show with a wholesome message about the importance of friendship, adaptability, and uniqueness. (Ages 3 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi

The movie is really cute and fun for the kids. They love the music and all the friendly characters.

4 out of 5 stars A worthy addition to The Land Before Time serious.......2007-05-09

The newest installment has the lovable dinos meeting a new and unique creature named Guido. Guido has no memories of who or what he is other than his name. It is up to Littlefoot and the gang to help Guido find his place in the world. Petrie has the most to gain from associating with Guido because like Guido he is having a hard time fitting in with the other flyers. Petrie is having trouble getting ready for the day of the flyers (his rite of passage to become an adult) because he must learn to fly in formation with his siblings. However, he is only good at flying when alone. The whole premis of the movie is that Guido and Petrie learn that it is OK to be different and to accept who you are.

4 out of 5 stars not as good as 1-6 but decent.......2007-04-17

Just to inform you these movies have a different cast than the original movie which came out in 1988 most of the characters have been recast since the first movie. I also thought I'd inform you that even though this is marked as the 12 movie I actually think this is the thirtenth movie because if I remember correctly I belive Great Water and Tinosaurus came out before this not longneck migration if I remember the order correctly from which I saw them in. These movie up till either either saurus rock or the big freeze can't remember which of the two came first used to be on cartoon newtwork alot but have not been one for several years. I belive the last time I saw number four was some time inbetween 1999 and 2003 maybe earlier maybe later. This movie takes place shortly after the events in Tinysarus if they movie were all released in chronological order. Little foot and friends are back in this movie. Peter is struggling to fit in with his brother and sister and Sara new mother Trica has had a baby pink female triciratops. This movie has some good musical number like all the previous films except the original which was meant to be more of an action moviethan a kids movie even though the musical mumbers have been some what reduced from the previous movies. Even thought time of the great flyers has great musical numbers it some what lack some of the action sequences an intensity of the previous films. A word of warning this movie has some occasional mild scary cartoon like action sequences mid way through the movie starting around scene 8 when a new character Guido start sleep walking until he eventually wakesup and one mildy disgusting scene when Guido force his way out of a carnorsaurus mouth after it tries to swallow him and is drench in carnosarus silva for a couple of minutes which can be seeing dripping off his body. Due to these reason stated this movie might not be appropriate or may be questionable to children under the age of 12 years of age depending on what content in the movie there parents or guardian think is apprpriate if the consider any of it appropriate. A word of advice if you like these movies but don't want to order them individual one at a time in DVD format you can order Land Before time movies 1-4 on dvd format together at the same time and it will only cost you some were from about $21 to 30$ with the shipping fee include to purchase them if you do not get them in mint condition or better. A word of advice even though these movies are ment to be made for kids ages 3 to 7 years of age you might want to wait until your about 15 years of age or older before you see the first five movies because if your a kid thats faint of heart meanning you get scared easily or have a lot of difficult telling fake from real like I did growing up the first five films especially the original movie and the fourth movie land of the misits maybe to intense for you to watch by your self.

Walter Hill's colorful directorial debut has quite a cult following for its toughness and violence; it may well be his best film, in fact. Charles Bronson plays a silent street fighter in New Orleans in the '30s managed by the cool James Coburn. Jill Ireland, Strother Martin, and Michael McGuire costar in this spare existential Depression dirge. It owes a lot to its noir origins that Hill adores so much, yet there's something very fresh and vital about its subject and approach. That's really what made so many of these films from the '70s so endearing. An added bonus is the love and affection displayed by the real-life husband and wife team of Bronson and Ireland. --Bill Desowitz

Great movie about a middle aged man doing what he has to do to survive in the great depression.

5 out of 5 stars Bronson plays "The Streetfighter" during the Depression in New Orleans.......2007-06-28

"Hard Times" was Walter Hill's 1975 directorial debut. He also wrote the screenplay. His preferred (more accurate and better) title was "The Streetfighter," as it was/is known in Europe. Hill went on to do more popular films like "The Warriors" (1979) and "The Long Riders" (1980). The reason I was interested in checking out "Hard Times" is because it had garnered a bit of a cult reputation over the years (although not as cult-ish as "The Warriors").

THE PLOT: Charles Bronson plays a poor drifter/loner (Chaney) during the Depression who travels by boxcar to New Orleans. He spies an illegal bare-knuckle fight in a warehouse and offers his fighting talents to a fast-talking gambler, James Coburn (Speed). Bronson proves himself a formidable and profitable fighter, but Speed can't hold on to money because of his gambling addiction and is in constant trouble with the mob.

One thing that's amazing is that Bronson was 53 freakin' years-old when the film was made, yet physically looks better than most guys half that age. Bronson's beautiful wife, Jill Ireland, plays his love interest (as usual) and was 39 years old at the time.

Although very little is revealed in the film about Chaney's past (we know he had experience as a coal miner), it becomes fairly certain that he had a lot of experience with bare knuckle fighting. We know this because he is supremely confident of his skills despite his age. Chaney is not big or ultra-muscular, but he's fearless, calmly self-controlled, doesn't bleed easy and expertly knows how to READ other fighters. Chaney's weakness is that he's a loner and doesn't talk much, hence he NEEDS Speed to do the talkin' for him and set up matches in order to make money from his uncommon skills.

I first saw "Hard Times" two years ago and thought it was good, but I didn't quite get the 'great cult film' hoopla. Perhaps I wasn't prepared for the ugly/dirty Depression era sets and New Orleans locations; or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a fight film. I just saw it again, however, and all I can say is, NOW I 'get' it.

"Hard Times" has numerous memorable scenes, lines and characters. I was highly entertained throughout its 90 minute runtime -- grinning, frequently busting out laughing and even clapping (huh?). Speaking of the runtime, I love it when pictures aren't needlessly overlong.

Here's one sample of some of the great dialogue: Chaney's date asks him what he does for a living. Chaney simply responds that he makes money by knocking people down. She mockingly asks, "What does it feel like to knock somebody down?" He brilliantly replies, "It makes me feel a hell of a lot better than it does him."

Although Chaney is depicted as a likable, honorable, bold and compassionate person, his downfall is that he is unable to make long-term commitments, preferring to be "free" and mysterious. [SPOILER ALERT! -- THE REMAINDER OF THIS PARAGRAPH AND THE NEXT TWO] Because of this flaw he ultimately loses his beautiful girl to someone else. He then leaves New Orleans as mysteriously as he came, albeit now a streetfighting legend and carrying a lot of cash.

The ending leaves many questions to ponder: What prompts Chaney to change his mind and try to save Speed by taking on an expert fighter from Chicago? Didn't Speed dig his own pit? Chaney himself angrily told Speed that he didn't owe him anything. Perhaps, as Chaney laid on his bed under the ceiling fan in his dump of an apartment, he realized that maybe he DID owe Speed for granting him the opportunity to utilize his talents and make money. In other words, without Speed he wouldn't have had his success. Perhaps he decided he wanted to make even MORE money in one final fight before leaving New Orleans. Possibly, it dawned on him that, although Speed is certainly to blame for his own problems, Chaney realized that he had fallen into his OWN-dug pits in the past and needed someone to help him get out. Or maybe he realized that, in all the world, he had less friends than can be counted on one hand and felt it was his duty to help Speed (and Poe) out.

Regardless of his reasons, the ending expertly shows Chaney's loyal and generous character. He may be a man of few words, but he certainly CARED about those connected to him, even if they were severely flawed addicts and con-artists. Heck, he even LOVED his cat!

[END SPOILER ALERT]

FINAL WORD: "Hard Times" is truly worthy of its cult film status. Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars hard times.......2007-01-11

I returned the one purchased in October 2006, because I ordered a VHS
at $4.99 and you sent me a DVD at over $18.00 for which you gave
me a credit.

I ordered a DVD last December at $7.99 plus $2.59 delivery which I
received, but why do I have to pay over $17.00 for it????????

1 out of 5 stars Hard Times - full screen UGH !!! .......2006-11-04

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD ! Although I throughly enjoy this movie and the characters are as good as they get in movies...Hard Times in the "full screen" format does not do this movie the justice and appreciation it deserves.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Film.......2006-11-03

"Hard Times" is an excellent piece of work by director Walter Hill. The cast is excellent and it is one of the few good films Charles Bronson made with his wife Jill Irelend.

Description

The clock is ticking for Johnny Depp in Nick of Time, a twist-filled, race-against-time thriller directed by John Badham (Drop Zone, Saturday Night Fever). And indeed it is a race, filmed in "real time" so that onscreen events unfold minute by nail-biting minute as they would in real life. No sooner does accountant Gene Watson (Depp) arrive at L.A.'s Union station with his six-year-old daughter than he's plunged into a nightmare. Two shadowy strangers (Christopher Walken, Roma Maffia) separate Watson from his little girl, slap a gun into his hand and present a devil's bargain: kill a top government official before she leaves a nearby political rally... or never again see his beloved child.

1 out of 5 stars incredibly stupid story.......2007-08-27

I just watched this film this morning -- nearly a dozen years after the film's release. I wish I had actually never seen it.

What a stupid story! The entire premise is so preposterous that I imagine this film can only be enjoyed if you have the ability to suspend all critical thinking while viewing it. As others have commented, it makes absolutely no sense that this random accountant would be enlisted at the last minute to assassinate a governor, especially given the apparently large network of conspirators involved. Why Johnny Depp's character wouldn't have screamed for help as soon as he and his daughter were being abducted is beyond me. (Are we really to believe that he assumed that the "police" had a legitimate reason for detaining him and his daughter the way they did?) Later while he's pointing the gun at the head of the woman watching his child and she effectively talks him out of pulling the trigger by scaring him that the gunfire would "go through the seat" or be "deflected by a button" and hurt his girl, I could not believe how stupid his character apparently was. A quick shot in the woman's head from the angle at which he was holding the gun would certainly not go through the seat or deflect off a button, and the woman would certainly be dead and he could have taken his daughter and fled. And on and on with the ridiculous scenarios.

By far the worst film I've seen Johnny Depp in. The director even managed to mitigate Depp's sex appeal by making his character plain looking and apparently moronic beyond words.

1 out of 5 stars ok, but pretty basic...........2007-05-26

This story is to commen these days. I got board.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad, but it's no "24" either..........2007-05-06

Nick of Time was a bit of a disappointment considering the make-up of the cast, Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken among others, though by no means is it a bad movie.
A man is blackmailed into assassinating the governor of California within an hour and a half or else his daughter will be killed. The movie takes place in real time and does bring to mind the masterpiece series "24," (though it doesn't come anywhere close to Jack Bauer's world).
In short, the acting is pretty good (though nothing great), the action/special effects are just average, while the plot is rather poor.
Moreover, most characters are weak, bland and just plain uninteresting.
In a nutshell, it's probably not a movie you would want to add to your collection, but it will provide for an evening's entertainment, and that's about it.
No masterpiece here... 3.5 Stars

5 out of 5 stars another good Depp movie..........2007-04-23

my mother say's Johnny Depp is one of her favorite actors. we'll of the younger generation. he's a truly gifted actor and fully becomes each character he plays.
i like watching his movies as well. this one has Christopher Walken playing in it. it's set in real time. he's given a gun a photo and a short amount of time to kill someone. i'm not going to say who or what causes him to do it, just watch it and find out.
don't read any detailed reviews. if you've not seen it watch it for the first time and just see it. anything more descriptive will ruin the whole movie for you.
it is worth buying as well, but if you are into just renting you won't be disappointed. a good flick...
enjoy,
CMH

4 out of 5 stars Walken at his usual, creepy self........2007-01-31

This is a very suspenseful, intense movie that totally satisfies. There are no explosions or special effects. It's just a tightly wound, well-acted movie. Christopher Walken is at his usual, creepy self; and despite Johnny Depp not being one of my favorite actors or people, he still delivers. The plot is very interesting. A man's daughter is kidnapped and held hostage while he is blackmailed into killing a politician to keep his daughter alive. A nice film to occupy an hour and half of your time on a Saturday night.

A rare sequel that can stand alone, 1983's The Black Stallion Returns is both a fun follow-up to the 1979 Carroll Ballard/Francis Ford Coppola film and a fine adventure in its own right. Kelly Reno returns as the now adolescent, deceptively ordinary Alec Ramsay, who stows away on a plane for Casablanca after the titular horse is kidnapped by Arabs. Getting him back pitches Alec into the middle of tribal rivalries and all sorts of complicated, dangerous intrigue. The cast includes Teri Garr, Vincent Spano, and Woody Strode, but the real star here may be cinematographer Carlo Di Palma, a veteran of several Woody Allen films and a master of color, light, and framing. Director Robert Dalva edited the previous film and happily executes countless ideas he appears to have stored up from his first stallion outing. But it's Reno's resourceful hero--his anti-Harry Potter normalcy--that finally takes hold of viewers. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars I do Love Horses.......2007-05-12

I do enjoy this second one as much as the first, I can never get enough of watching horses.

2 out of 5 stars A dissapointed teen using kid form.......2007-01-27

This makes a good movie for some kid who just wants to see pretty horses and exciting drama, but fans of the original movie and, indeed, the books, will be bitterly disappointed. Reno's acting is pretty good, but everything else is cheesy. Alec sneaks a ride to Arabia, and after some dramatic close calls and fights in the desert and some interaction with a pretty girl, he decides...well, I won't give away the ending. Good for kids 10-13, but not anyone older or who knows horses or the book more.

3 out of 5 stars Could have been a lot better..........2005-10-07

The first movie was saved by fantastically beautiful cinematography and Mickey Rooney's acting.

This movie deviates so far from Walter Farley's book and while it isn't horrible, it isn't in the same class as the first.

You really have to be horse crazy to love this one.

3 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion Returns: A quest across Morocco by "horseman 11".......2005-07-06

For one thing, this movie was kind of cheesy.Yeah,it was entertaining until I read the book two years ago.The book takes place in Saudi Arabia and the movie they are in Morocco. Some of the arabic dialougue I think might be gibberish like the old Hollywood Indian languages were. Then,in the novel,Alec's mom makes him give Shetan back to Abu ja kub bin Ishak, who sees in the newspapers the photos of the match race in the original. Then, in the novel,Henry and Mr. Volence,Alec's competetor in the original, accompanies him to Saudi Arabia. Also,Raj,Alec's friend, was a houseslave to a friend of Mr. Volence,in the novel, who accompanies them acroos Arabia.Very disapointing if you are a fan of the book or is very strict on cheesy movies.

3 out of 5 stars The Black Stallion Returns - Not up to par.......2005-07-01

I agree with Laurel962- This movie is nothing like the original. Actually, I think the Black Stallion books are much more culture-related and celebrate the grace and beauty of Arabia. But the two idiots in this movie, the Arabian bad guys, are just stupid. It was boring, too. Also, Kelly Reno didn't do a fantastic job, either. He was much more appealing in the original Black Stallion. A good flick for little kids, but mostly it's just dirt. I only gave it 3 stars because the Black was beautiful! He did look different though, I don't think it was the Black(Cass Ole).

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Sci-Fi, Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, etc........2006-08-16

This was quite a find! Timothy Hutton plays Professor J.T. Neumeyer, a physicist who comes across a mysterious case bearing his name, and containing files of an unsolved murder investigation - his murder - which occurred (will occur) five days in the future.

At first he believes it to be a crude hoax. However, certain elements of the murder, as detailed in the files, begin falling into place that suggest something more than just mere coincidence. As he investigates further, Neumeyer enlists the help of the homicide detective (Randy Quaid) who investigated (will investigate) his murder. The biggest clue is the suspect list, which includes his girlfriend, brother-in-law, an eccentric graduate student, and an unknown man.

The series is wonderfully crafted and keeps you guessing as to who the murderer was (will be). The filmmakers successfully establish motives and/or raise doubts about the intentions of the suspects. In a way, it is somewhat similar to Minority Report in the sense of trying to unravel and prevent a murder which hasn't happened yet.

Overall, this was a great mini-series. Highly recommended for fans of the genre(s).

5 out of 5 stars Great movie but watch out for some details.......2006-04-01

This movie is good, but I sort of agree with the former review. It lasts too long. You'd better watch it by parts as it was meant originally. You might not like this one if you're from the ones who need many explanations in the movies (as I do very often). However, those missing explanations will not keep you from understanding the movie's plot. I started a discussion forum so that people can guess how they would've filled those holes.
Finally, the movie's start is nothing great by itself. Anyone who likes fantasy and thrillers might have watched similar starings as in this movie. So the filmmakers added a lot of sci-fi effects, cheap but funny ones. The moved the camera in slow motion in some scenes, in others they show a lot of weird (or artistic) scenes behind the characters like mathematical symbols, nothing really creative but pretty. But the movie continues it gets more and more interesting.....otherwise I wouldn't have stayed for 4 or 5 hours!

    3 out of 5 stars A little drawn out, but hey, it's a miniseries.......2006-03-27

I'll keep this review brief, unlike the film. I think I really would have enjoyed this as a television miniseries. As a DVD, it kind of just drags on. The plot was engaging, if a little predictable. The performances were good, if not stellar. The subplots were just a tad underdeveloped, and Nicole DeBoer's character seemed almost extraneous for such a talented actress. Do I recommend it? Yes, not a bad way to spend the weekend. Would I pass up something else to watch it? Probably not.

    5 out of 5 stars Dark Allegory.......2005-09-17

5IVE DAYS TO MIDNIGHT is one of my favorite TV miniseries. Like ROOTS or HOLOCAUST it is best seen on TV, with the days spread apart, so that you can build up some excitement about seeing the next part, but on DVD you can kind of glom everything together; indeed you don't even have to watch the show in order--*though I would highly advise it.* If you don't, the story is too confusing.

On SciFi you'd be watching "Monday's" episode on a Monday; it was cleverly done and you couldn't wait till Tuesday! Tim Hutton isn't my favorite actor, but he did a fine job in this as the doomed professor. And fun to see him with Kari Matchett as the two co-stars of NERO WOLFE are matchless together. Watching Hutton break into the briefcase and find his obituary was chilling and you wanted to think that there must be some mistake, some loophole, some way in which he could survive the next five days. I was thinking, well, he has the same name as his daughter (I mean the same initials, her name is Jesse) maybe the daughter is the one who is going to die? She was only ten or so, but because the story is all about time travel it was easy to think, maybe she grew up and became a professor like her dad? And that is whom the briefcase was addressed to! The one in the car from PULP FICTION! The show also references the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, which also occurred ten years prior to the events of 5IVE DAYS TO MIDNIGHT, making you think a little bit, your restless brain searching for some solution, some tie up, of history's loose threads.

In a way the briefcase reminded me of the famous attache case in PULP FICTION, said to contain someone's soul-remember that? Ten years ago, so right around the birth of little Jesse? Lovely Nicole De Boer is in the movie too, from CUBE, and STAR TREK ENTERPRISE, she's a regular SciFi channel regular. You may not know who she is from her name, but once you see her face it's an assurance that the quality science fiction product you are watching was filmed in Canada.

Randy Quaid is pretty good, although I found myself wondering why the producers couldn't have found someone who mumbled less. I could barely make out what he was saying half the time as "Irwin" launched into one topic after another. He was pretty much the most important character in the story, too, as the man charged with figuring out the solution to the homicide. If you've seen the classic noir thriller D.O.A., with Edmond O'Brien, you've already anticipated much of what is interesting about this miniseries. Remade later in the 1980s with Dennis Quaid, Randy's brother, as the dead man walking, D.O.A. similarly opened with a man reading his own death sentence.

    4 out of 5 stars Worth watching........2005-06-20

I've just watched this in the UK where it was shown on 2 nights and totalled 4 hours. I don't know if it was cut at all, or maybe in the US with more commercials, it would last 5 hours. I have been a fan of Timothy Hutton for 20 years and he is the reason I began watching it, but thought it was a well-paced and interesting thriller. Yes, the ending was a bit cheesy and I still want to know who would have been JT's original murderer - and why, but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed it. I particularly liked the fact that the time-travel aspect was wholly incidental - although like most, I guessed who sent the briefcase - and it was the thriller element that came to the fore.

Ten years and six films (most released straight to video) have made these plucky dinosaurs favorites among the younger set. This new adventure is, well, pretty much like all the others. Littlefoot hears the story of a legendary dinosaur that defended the land years before and is praised by the mysterious land form known as Saurus Rock. When a strange brontosaurus named Doc wanders through town, Littlefoot is convinced he is the legend. Same old fare: earthshakes, mean old "sharptooths" (T-Rexes), lots of screaming, and a lesson learned. Only three songs. The biggest surprise is Kris Kristofferson as the voice of Doc. --Doug Thomas

    5 out of 5 stars A phonimal movie.......2007-05-16

in the land before time six it has been a few months since the reunion of little foot and chomper in land before time five. When a series of bad luck strikes the valley after the accidental desturction of Sarus rock. Little foor and his frined petri, sara spike, and ducky must ,ake things right again to save the valley. This movie should be fine for kids ages 12 and up due to occasional scenes with mild cartoon violence and intensity, and mild scary images. If you have kids that like this series but are to young to watch it there is also a land before time tv series that first aired about a couple of weeks ago. The broadcast times differs depending which state or contient you live on. It usually comes on around 9:30 AM here and either befor or after this in the other parts of the world depending on the time differnce between country or city you live in. Can little foot and his friends once again save the day in there newest adventure. This actually not the newest movie but the newest one that they have brodcast on tv was great Long Neck Migration tinnosaurus deep water, and the day of the flyers have yet to be broodcast on Cartoon network. If these movies are broadcast they usally skipp around in the series rather than showing them in chronological order. If you don't want to collect these individual you can get either the first four movies at once or the first nine movies at once. The four movie set tends to be cheaper than the 9 movie set it can cost less 30$ to get the first for movies in DVD fomat if you get them in like new condition instead of good or new condition. I recommend you don't get new version o dvds unleash they are real cheap aunder $20 or $15 dollars like the Epoch Evolution.

5 out of 5 stars This one is my kids' favorite of the series.......2006-03-28

We own probably 8-9 of the Land Before Time series and without question this is the volume that my 3 year old boy will play the most often. His older cousin's mom told me this was her daughter's favorite also. I think kids like the character, Doc, a "long neck" with a John Wayne attitude. The young dinosaurs believe that Doc may be the legendary long neck who long ago defeated a T-Rex and saved the other dinosaurs in the valley. Kids also seem to like the songs in this movie, which are definitely a step up from many of the others. If you're looking to only get a couple from the series, I would recommend the first movie and this one.

    1 out of 5 stars blehh........2005-07-09

I don't care for this one, it's cute, but that's all. It doesn't have the beauty like the oringinal nor does it have a meaning like in the 7th and why always about the long necks? If you notices there was many about Little Foot only one about Petrie, one about Ducky and Spike and none about Cera! Little Foot is starting to annoy me. So is Cera.

    2 out of 5 stars LIGHTWEIGHT LIGHTNING.......2006-04-04

Another one of those made for TV disaster flicks featuring the usual characters and a rather incredulous premise. Seems like a bunch of storms are going to merge together all around the globe and predicate a new ice age. Researcher Joanna Pacula is the only one (naturally) who realizes this and most of the movie is spent with her trying to convince disbelieving faculty members and a stern general. Meanwhile we get another 15 year old genius (Pacula's son) who we know is going to come up with the solution to save the day, but not before the usual family problems, the most serious being the arrival of his real mother. Meanwhile lightning strikes a few buildings and provides about as much suspense as a carousel ride.
    Moderately diverting but nothing special.

I enjoyed this movie. I thought that the lightning storms were very scary and the special effects were good.
